An elven woman slips in just moments before the briefing began, watching and listening from the back... When the briefing is over, she listens to the questions the others have to ask, then asks one of her own. "THis Falbin, will he be assisting us to acquire this item, or just giving us the location of the druids?"
Garren Sundale |
"Oi! Where did you come from? Sneaky one. Pretty to boot too. O and valid question. Are there any other locals we need worry about?"
No other questions until we talk to Falbin

Keep it in your pants Glasses, we're on a job. Theophilus turns from Garren back to Brackett, What would you say the odds are of us getting turned into monkeys?
JAFO's pregen alias cinq |
Merisiel mutters softly under her breath...the words are more thought than voiced sentiment... and out of your league, gunman
Abdul Almas |
In my experience, druids that get angry don't turn you into monkeys, rather they feed you to them. But I sincerely hope that we've gained some measure of goodwill with the druids in this area for driving back some of the fey folk.
No questions.

"Alright, alright i will keep it in the pants as you say. For now, but when a Pirate sets his eye on something he means to get it. He winks gingerly at the Rogue.
Itami |
Humans, can't even get out of the briefing without wanting to procreate. "Will we be leaving now?" Itami says curtly.
JAFO's pregen alias cinq |
"You're a pirate?" Merisiel says with no small amount of disbelief and derision in her tone. Still she gives him a little half-smile to show she's enjoyed the bit of banter and flirtation.
Bitter Plum |
Bitter Plum greets Itami back with an amiable pat on the shoulder. She shakes her head at her feisty younger companions (except for the elf, she supposes). “So should we expect lycanthropes? Is that the nature of this Splinter?”
Once the questions are answered, she echoes Itami: “We should get going. I hope you kids can keep your chatter down while we’re trying to do this infiltration.”

I’d like to obtain an alchemical silver wakizashi before we leave our current location: let me know if I need to purchase one or if I can just have that process done to my existing weapon.

If able I would like to also make a purchase. An Alchemical Silver Cutlass (105gp) and Nautical charts for Taldor's waterways (25).

Minmaximus! |
Minmaximus!, future Runelord, scoffs. "You were unable to decipher the stone because it is the work of illiterate druids, incapable of proper record-keeping as befits a learned soul. As for coupling on this mission, keep your rutting noises down. I have no patience for such vulgarity. And the elf is out of your league, Garren."
Tundran |
"I don't know much about the Briar Henge druids, but I expect Falbin will be able to fill in those details. He will not be accompanying you; I have given him strict orders to remain in Wispil and continue reporting."
He clucks his tongue at the chatter about being turned into monkeys. "This ritual is no laughing matter, I'm afraid. I understand that the victims are not actually lycanthropes; the ritual robs them of their wits but imbues them with physical power. That’s really all we know. Perhaps Falbin will know more."
"Now if there is nothing else, you had best be on your way as it will take almost two weeks to get to Wispil from here. If these druids finish the ritual, they might take the Atavistic Splinter away to some better-hidden location.”
The party is able to easily secure the provisions they seek within Almas' markets.
I forgot these Knowledge checks from the initial post. Go ahead and roll them now. I will move us forward to Wispil tomorrow if there is nothing else you want to do here.

Two weeks?! Hey, uh, Tusky. He turns to Abdul, You mind carrying a few sundries for me while we're walking? I've got a trick shoulder you see...

Wispil is a bustling town built on a small scale—although humans and elves walk the streets, most buildings are built to accommodate the gnomes who live and work in Wispil. The scent of fresh-cut lumber wafts through the town. Falbin’s home is not difficult to find. It is situated on the south edge of the town, with a large garden spreading out behind it. Most of the garden is obscured by high growth, but the sound of a violent argument carries into the street. Although it is not yet dark, firelight glimmers from within the garden walls.
That's right! You have reached your contact's home to find it under assault again. Give me perception checks and anything else you want to do as you approach. I will get a new map link up with my next post.

OK, I have made a new map slideshow for us. I took the old init/perception roll block and added Merisiel. If there are any needed changes please make them.
As the party passes through or around the house, they see three humans armed with longbows in the garden area. The garden is also evidently the source of the smoke, as there are several fires visible. Near the scarecrow is the collapsed body (corpse?) of a gnome.
"Interlopers! We can't let them survive to testify against us!" shouts one of the hunters.

The hunters get to act in the surprise round and then we will move to normal initiative rounds. Please adjust your position on the map to indicate your path through or around the house, or your marching order if you are all staying together. Once that is complete I will take the hunter's actions.
For reference, the indicated squares on the map are already on fire. PCs who begin their turn in a square that’s on fire, or who pass through a square that’s on fire, take 1d6 points of fire damage per square. Any PCs who take fire damage in a round may also catch on fire.
The fire builds throughout this act. At the beginning of each round after the first, each square that is adjacent to a square that’s on fire has a 50% chance of catching fire as well. The fire does not spread outside of Falbin’s garden because of the wide gravel lanes surrounding his property, but Falbin’s house may eventually catch fire as well.

Bitter Plum moves forward, pushing through the garden foliage toward the men with bows. “You’ve done a very foolish thing to threaten us,” she lectures the men, drawing a weight-ended length of chain from her waist. She moves next to the nearest garden fire and invokes a prayer, conjuring a small downpour to snuff out the flames.
She then stands ready to face the assailants, whipping the weighted chain above her head and maintaining a threatening range should either approach.

Merisiel recovers her dropped dagger and places it with the others she carries. "I knew you could all handle it." Then she'll move on to the other two.

Itami rounds on Min as combat comes to a close. "Do not presume to know my motives or question my tactics again," he snaps, clearly very irritated. What does he know about subtly? He is all bluster and show. An overused hammer with a fresh coat of paint.
He scoffs and moves forward to relieve the hunters of their belongings with Merisiel. "The fate of these men is not my concern," he declares at the inquiry of their lives. "If one is destined to live, tie him up. I will return for him shortly."
Itami then renters the house and searches it as well as he can for anything of note, then does the same with the surrounding gardens. He makes sure to pick up any wine and tasty food he finds. Drink to sap their will, food to pull the wool over their eyes.
Tundran |
Merisiel carefully removes the gear from the sleeping, wounded hunter and then his deceased friends. Each carries a potion of cure light wounds and a tanglefoot bag along with a chain shirt, longbow with 20 arrows, and pair of silver short swords.
Itami finds little of interest inside the house. Very little of luxury is available so deep in this wood.
Min, however, easily finds the body of Falbin, the gnome they came to meet. Luckily, this time he hasn't been ripped to shreds. Min can see his little chest rising and falling ever so slightly.
