Maria the Great |
Oh yes Maria drawls. Let's go tell the Sheriff I started a fight. That can't possibly end badly with one of them bleeding out on the ground.
Cleo Gingerberry |
A man is dead, Maria. Cleo's voice wavers a bit, but she takes a deep breath and continued There was a fight with men trying to do harm to master Volioker. It shouldn't have turned deadly but it did. We can't hide that.
Maria the Great |
Have any of you even bothered to check to see if he's actually dead or just unconscious?
Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo looks quickly to the man laying on the ground, his skull caved in, and turns away quickly. Maria...
Assuming with the description Treasure gave us on Furnok's hit and that he's labeled as dead, it would be obvious, but I could be wrong. if you want any of us to roll treasure, I'd be happy to
Maria the Great |
What? I know where to stick a dagger, not how to fix a wound, I don't know how effective your healing is against hammers
DM TreasureFox |
Oh he dead alright. The only check I would ever ask would be K.Religion to make sure he doesn't become a zombie. Haha. Sometimes I might hide the fact that an enemy is actually unconscious, but in this case he is very very dead.
In the distance you all hear the sound of armored footsteps hurrying in your direction.
Make sure you let me know who takes what. Left over items will be claimed by scavengers and sneaky goblins. It is possible that you don't take something for moral reasons, that's fine.
Cleo Gingerberry |
I'm not good enough Cleo answers sadly. Reaching up and squeezing Maria's hand, happy her friend is still alive. Then goes to check on everyone else to make sure no one else is still hurt. If anyone needs healing still she has 2 channels left
also Cleo doesn't take anything, moral reasons (plus general size and all). I did have a question though about the goblin masterwork studded leather armor. Not wanting to wear stinky goblin armor could she study it sometime to maybe make her own studded leather masterwork? She does have craft leather as a skill.
Maria the Great |
Anything that's not grabbed I'm grabbing. The mask and Thieve's tools, are just what I'm taking for my own personal use. I could use that armor, but I'm letting first dibs on it go since I got the goblin dagger. Maria reaches down and gathers the gear shoving in her pack or handing it out to the others as appropriate. Dammit, this isn't good. She says as she sets about her self appointed task. I'll check them for worth later. I should do the same for the loot from the goblin raid.
Vandra Geaux |
Vandra and Jeaux walked over to the others inspecting the bodies on the ground. He gave the dead leader a kick in the side in a fit of anger before looking at what was pulled out. "If nobody wants them, I can take the potions and try to figure out what they do," he said to the others. Picking up the dagger that was on the thug's body, he added, "And if nobody objects, I'll take this. I think I need to have more than just the spear."
Maria the Great |
Maria looks at the strange liquid for a second. Probably something alchemical. She says as she hands the potions to Vandra. Probably poison. I'll take it to the apothecary in the morning and find out the truth. did you take a regular dagger or the masterwork?
Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo slowly nods in acknowledgement of Furnok's words. Gives him a half smile. Are you hurt at all Furnok?
[ooc]never played a lawful good character before, so I'm trying to be true to what I think she'd be like, plus not be too freaking annoying with her own morality. This is a game of combat, people will die, no worries.[/b]
Helgarr |
Make sure you let me know who takes what. Left over items will be claimed by scavengers and sneaky goblins. It is possible that you don't take something for moral reasons, that's fine.
Should we perhaps make a loot list, so then we can try to sell unclaimed items later (those masterwork armors will be worth some gold)? Anyone wanting to take up the task? :D Helgarr will pack whatever is not claimed.
"If nobody wants them, I can take the potions and try to figure out what they do," he said to the others. Picking up the dagger that was on the thug's body, he added, "And if nobody objects, I'll take this. I think I need to have more than just the spear."
"Take the potions and the blade friend Vandra - best if you can garner their purpose, than a merchant who will probably be interested first in the best possible deal" - the barbarian nods.
"We have nothing to hide from the sheriff" - Helgarr then adds, turning to Maria - Their attack was unprovoked, was it not?"
Helgarr is also unhurt from this fight Cleo ;)
Maria the Great |
Maria looks to them all, seemingly agreeing to lie for her. Yes, indeed it was. Is there anything here you wish my exceedingly deadly friend? Maria says as she finishes stuffing her pack.
Helgarr |
Helgarr is not lying, she did not see the start of the fight ;)
Helgarr smiles at Maria - "If you mean me, I have still much to learn in the ways of combat. As for the spoils, it will depend on the nature of the vials, but nothing more I believe. If we do sell them for profit, then yes, I have some purchases to carry out"
Maria the Great |
And I some some debts to pay.
Helgarr |
"It is settled then" - Helgarr nods - "If you believe you can carry it all" - then moves to meet the incoming footsteps.
Maria the Great |
Just don't expect me to fight, or run.
Helgarr |
"I can carry that Maria" - Helgarr laughs - "You just need to stop stuffing your pockets, and allow me to do it"
Vandra Geaux |
"Right, thanks, Helgarr," Vandra said to the Shoanti woman with a smile. Picking up the dagger and sheath, he straps it to his waist before grabbing the vials and placing them carefully in a pouch. "So, right, sheriff's coming. This should be an awkward meeting."
Cleo Gingerberry |
very good point Helgarr, most of us were inside at the start of the fight Maria and Furnok would be the two outside, unless someone was the lookout at a window
Maria the Great |
Or you know, if I straight out said I started it, which I did.
DM TreasureFox |
Coming up from the center of town, 3 green guards and a heavily armored sheriff Hemlock jog towards you. His golden chainmail shines in the moonlight. As he approaches, you can hear him say "...late again! Damn I hope everyone's okay."
When they finally reach you, the Sheriff takes a good look at the scene. "Hmm greetings adventurers, Volioker. I'm sure you can explain to me what happened here. Looks like a couple of Sczarni got more than what they bargained for."
Maria the Great |
Maria sets herself in a defensive stance, slightly on edge. I tried to talk them out of being stupid, they decided they wanted to be.
DM TreasureFox |
The sheriff waits a moment to hear everyone's side of the story before he responds.
At such time Volioker, still covered in blood says "Pardon me, Mr. Hemlock. I do say that these young men and women have helped me tremendously in protecting my home and honor. You see, sir, no offense, but your men have proven to be... less than reliable at getting to this side of town lickety-split like. In my humble defense, I hired these heroes to defend me in my most vulnerable hour. Should any of their actions be considered criminal, I am the one responsible. I am fully aware of our laws (having written one or two of them myself), and place myself in your capable hands."
Helgarr |
Helgarr stands there, letting the others do the talking, but she nods in approval at the dwarf's behavior - "You are most honorable master Volioker, yet we all should answer for our own actions, if need be"
Maria the Great |
Maria's shoulders tense when Helgarr speaks up.
Alandrian Verium |
"This one still lives..." Ali speaks up, from where he is crouched over the unconscious thug, having just finished stuffing his pack with anything of worth, to divide between the group afterwards. "Lucky for him." Ali stood up, brushing off his hands and sighing, before stepping over the man and moving to stand by Maria, giving her a playful shoulder.
"Had to join the bloodied club didn't ya guys?" He grinned, reaching out and shaking Vandra on the shoulder. "Well it looks like the Lady of the Grave has averted her gaze from we three for the day at least. Good, I would prefer not to help bury either of you!"
"Furnok there is little to no point in us darting down to their hideout right this moment. Both Maria and Vandra are not in any state for it, I do not have the energy left to cast any more and I doubt Vandra or Cleo are any better off. Besides, one of them got away. He has a head start and has almost certainly headed straight there, so they are expecting us. I think we call it a night, yes?"
DM TreasureFox |
"They tend to lie low if they escape... as I've seen so many times." Hemlock sighs. "Well, we'll take this one to the barracks, and the dead one too. Hopefully we can figure out his identity. Feel free to keep their items, unless it's obvious evidence. We would simply confiscate them anyways."
"In the meantime, thanks for your work. Furnok, you've done good things for keeping the peace in Sandpoint, but I'm... concerned about your use of deadly force. No one cries when a goblin is killed, but most men have a family. Not to say that this man's death is unjustified, as you all have the right of self defense, I just... wish it wasn't needed."
"And I apologize, Volioker, for never arriving on time. I have such few men that I can't even properly patrol the borders for goblins, yet alone threats from the inside. If we can finally get some aid from Magnimar, perhaps we could set up a small post here."
Sheriff Hemlock sighs heavily, obviously troubled.
Maria the Great |
Maria places her hand on on Ali's shoulder as she steps back. I've got business yet this night if we don't track them down.
Alandrian Verium |
Ali frowns a little but shrugs, before nodding. "Well I think you should probably wait till the morrow but if you can't, me and Azeri will accompany you!" Azeri grunted in agreement.
Maria the Great |
I appreciate that Ali, but this is the kind of business best left to the professionals.
Vandra Geaux |
"Well, unlike Maria, I'd rather not tempt Lady Pharasma twice in one day," Vandra said, looking at the others. "However, I'm not quite ready to turn in just yet, so would anybody care to join me for drink at the Dragon?"
Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo snuggles into her fur enjoying the warmth and friendship.
Tired as she is, she'll still want to go with Maria Please, I'll stay across the street, huddle in a dark alleyway and just listen. I promise. I can cause a ruckus as well as anyone if you need a distraction.
Maria the Great |
Alright, let's go. Maria begins to move off away from the others letting them fill the Sheriff's attention as she moves away towards the river to wash the mask.
Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo rushes to follow, relieved and worried at the same time.
Alandrian Verium |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Ali frowns again, but shrugs. "Fine. Don't die right? And don't do anything stupid!"
'You aren't really going to suggest we...'
'Do you think YOU can change her mind? She hasn't had to answer to anyone her whole life. We can tail her I guess and just watch from a distance?'
Ali glanced over at Azeri and as their eyes met his vision swam. For just a moment he caught a view of himself, as if he was looking in a mirror, but... taller.
'What the hell was that?'
'I... I don't know. I think I looked through you!"
He closed his eyes for a moment and began to focus on that ever present thread, between Azeri and himself. He could tell what the other man was feeling, how his wounds ached and how he was tired and hungry but now... If he focused he could catch scents he had never smelled before, old liquor, oiled metal and a soft loamy smell he could not identify. He could hear clearer and staring out in to the night, he could see further, out beyond the lamps, if in a strange grey shade, but still.
"I can see everything you see, hear everything you hear and smell everything you smell... I can FEEL what you feel!" He stared up at Azeri, eyes wide and unfocused slightly as he stared back down at himself.
"By the gods I need a drink, yes..."
Maria the Great |
Maria stops for a moment, runs back and hands Ali her pack. Here take this back to the inn k bye. She kisses him lightly on the cheek before running back over to Cleo and taking off with her.
Current gear with her. Skeleton key, masterwork thieves tools, dagger, reversible cloak, clothes, face mask, her armor.
DM TreasureFox |
+1 DM Intervention for Ali describing his level up.
Sheriff Hemlock He's not gone, you guys nods as the party prepares their actions. He orders his men to pick up the remains, and shoulders the unconscious man himself. Curious, but not wanting to pry, he bids the group farewell and heads back to the garrison.
Volioker reiterates his promise. In thanks for saving him, he will open any lock you present him, only 10 questions asked.
Where are Maria and Cleo headed? And what shall the rest of you be doing?
Maria the Great |
Back to the mill, might have been a bit IRL but I still planned for that to go down tonight.
Vandra Geaux |
I would have rp'd my level up, but, well, other than a couple new spells, I don't really get anything, though I plan on 'discovering' the new spells when I study my tomes again. Also, going to go back to the inn and have a drink or two. Just waiting to see if anybody else is gonna go with me.
Cleo Gingerberry |
Vandra you are welcome to tail the intrepid female thief and her halfling sidekick to keep us from dying... horribly! And Ali, the leveling was awesome.
Maria the Great |
Still trying to figure out how to RP my level up, besides getting what everyone gets I now make illusory sounds at will. I'm thinking of having it manifest in a moment of stress to give me a distraction
Cleo Gingerberry |
Maybe Maria has been hearing things all along, but now we can hear them as well. The voices in your head are REAL! Bum Bum BUUUMMM. :)
