Alma has for the time being lost some of his strength as a paladin. This is not a fall from paladin hood, but more of a warning for putting one foot across the line from the lawful aspect of the alignment.
My reasoning for this is as follows:
You entered combat with the ogre under pretense of a one-on-one combat with it. Then allowed your allies to buff you (minor infraction). Then slew the creature while it was helpless due to an allies interference (sleep hex). The creature was evil and deserved its death but the paladin code still requires a paladin to act honorably.
This decision also comes from this quote from Irina being ignored by Alma
"I never said we'd fight fair," Irina scoffs.
I'm happy to discuss this further though if anyone feels I'm over the line on this and wants to state a case against against it.

Obviously, as the player of the character who has set out from the beginning to cause Alma's fall, I'm hardly impartial. I'm sure there are many GMs out there who would have already slapped a fall on him, just because, so I warning like this seems extremely fair.
I would like it on record (I think I already said) that, as a player, I have no interest in Irina succeeding at her little mission. That being said, I shall consider it an RP-ing victory for all to have helped generate the proper conditions that could have led to such an event. Dealing with the repercussions of this slip from grace should be extremely entertaining.
As my workload has been increasing, I have been looking to she'd some of my pbp games. I can definitely say that this one would not be one of them. Leading mercenaries free-form against goblin invasions, non-spiteful inter-party tensions that just add to the story, successfully forming alliances with NPCs...right in my wheel house.:)

Alma |

I would have thought, that when fighting someone evil there is nothing that would be unhonorable on how we choose to defeat it. Which apparently is not the case. I thought it was assumed that the Ogre was also buffed, since the mercenaries said he was extremely hard to hit and had some form of magical protection.
I would also think, that regardless of the sleep hex on the ogre, since it wanted me dead, it is free for me to kill, even if its sleeping as it has attacked me already. So I would dispute that as not being a honorable kill.
As far as the loss of some of my Pally strength, Do I lose my LoH, or is it just the -1. What is the process of restoring the negative effects.
Overall, i don't mind the effect, because like Irina, I enjoy the roleplaying side and the friendly tension I have with Irina and such. Though, unlike Irina, I want my pally to fall, Tower just won't let me :) Yet.

I don't think I realized you were actually looking for Alma to take the plunge. I wasn't looking to precipitate an actual fall, because such a thing has long-reaching consequences to a character's development, and as a player, I have no right to inflict long-term consequences on another player's PC.
But if you're looking to fall...well, I'm not going to change anything I'm doing, but I won't have to feel as guilty about doing it! :)

This is my perspective on the lawful aspect of alignments. A lawful character will follow the laws of their nation and honor their contracts. For a lawful good character this would mean their word is their bond (in your case proposing to duel the ogre in a one-on-one is that bond). A lawful evil character would also follow their promises, but would be more concerned about the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law. The lawful evil character would do everything they can to misrepresent what a contract said by the letter to gain the greatest advantage, but once that deal was sealed they would do their best to follow it.
I would also think, that regardless of the sleep hex on the ogre, since it wanted me dead, it is free for me to kill, even if its sleeping as it has attacked me already. So I would dispute that as not being a honorable kill.
Had the ogre called in its goblin minions, then it has broken the arrangement and you would have been freed to make other plans. Because it had not yet done so then your word was still binding on you. It certainly served the cause of righteousness to slay it, but doing so should not come at the cost of the paladin code or principles. Had you been traveling in the wilderness and it stumbled upon your group and attacked you it would have been fair game.
In general I'm going to be pretty lenient with the paladin code, since I would be the one creating situations that would put you at odds with the code, which sometimes can be very interesting for role playing, but can be overdone if every single encounter means you have to stop and think through all the possible effects your actions might have in relation to the code. Where this incident was entirely player created though I was happy to just sit back and let it play out as it would.

You can still use LoH, but you will take a -1 to your heal rolls for the time being. A fallen paladin would need to have an atonement spell cast on them, and typically in game play have some form of quest they are sent on to prove and redeem themselves. Since in this case you aren't fully fallen it won't require both, but I have in mind how to handle this already, you will just have to wait for it :).
And I'll let you fall, if that is what you are set on doing, I just don't think you are going to like the consequences of doing so as much as you think you might :). A paladin without paladin powers isn't going to be a terribly fun character to play.

Well, I know for the current adventure you don't want my guy to fall. But I have goals for him :) In this case, I didn't even think about the "not fighting fair." But i'm sure I will tempt the paladin gods from time to time, as I forget to consider the consequences.
Irinia, you should definitely keep it up. If for no other reason then to for me to keep my guard up. And the fact that I really enjoy that aspect of our adventure.

As well as seeking out the pally who belongs to the armor... i'm taking that as a bread crumb. Of course that could coincide with going after the goblins.
Getting back to the other villages would work, though where the other commander said it was ok for us to leave them, I would think our responsibility to them is not a big deal at this point. That is until we finally do return only to find out they have been wiped out in our absence :)
My vote would be to chase the goblins down, as I think we will get more details on the pally who lost their armor.

I wouldn't expect that I would need to. I will just be spending time with my other family members, and they are pretty boring, so it will be a nice excuse to login.
That sounds a lot like my family too, actually. Especially the ones that live close to us (But don't tell my dad, he things I should be nice to my cousins).

Irina is leveled up. She took her second (and last) alchemist level (from here on out, it's witch all the way), learning the infusion and tanglefoot bomb discoveries. At the moment, I've selected a cure light wounds, an expeditious retreat, and two shield infusions that she'd be willing to share, even to Alma.

Alma |

ugh, now i have to look up what shield infusion does. And Alma has always felt that Irina was a witch all the way.
I should be leveled up all the way assuming I did it right. I took the sickened mercy, Put a skill point in Intimidate and Diplomacy. I took Weapon focus (great sword) for my Feat.

Warren Enzroth |

Irina has the lowest AC, so she can take the Arrow Protection potion. We all have healing ability, but Irina can only use hers once per day, so I suggest she takes one of the CLW and perhaps I will take the other.
Quick question on the note: Does it need to be one item, or can it be multiple items adding up to 1000 gp?

TowerOfTheHeavens |

For those with the time and interest, I'm starting another PbP - this one very large scale with multiple factions to choose from. The setting is Coran, ~150 years ago, at the time of the overthrow of the mage tower. Consider it an alternate universe though from this games universe as some time lines are being tweaked and other things being modified to better fit the nature of that particular campaign.

Alma |

This sounds interesting, perhaps I will get my fallen paladin afterall. In all seriousness, I will likely sign up for this other campaign. The question is, are Warren, Irina and Markov planning to sign up for this, and if so, do we want to sign up as a group, or ensure we are on opposite sides.
If we want to go as a group, perhaps we should get our classes to planned out to support each other well. Plus it will be nice to get out of the goody too-shoes mode of my Paladin. Although, Anti-Paladin does sound like fun.
For the record, i'm inclined to look into the thieves guild or the Rebellion... I just want to see the world burn.
