the fifth sarcophagus contains a normal skeleton holding a rusted (and worthless) dagger.

This room contains three sarcophagi, each with a single ruby set into
the stone lid.
Sorek
We opened the door and found a room with 3 sarcophagi. 1 in the west alcove radiating magic and evil. It looks like 2 people will be needed to lift the stone lid. How do you all want to handle this?
whispering quietly, making sure everyone can hear there is magic and evil coming from the sarcophagi in the west alcove. I have a plan...let me know if you have an idea you think will be better. My plan is to enter the room and place coins on top of the 2 sarcophagi that don't radiate evil or magic. That way while we are concentrating on the one in the west alcove the noise from the dropping coins will alert us if the lids move. Nuala will check the west sarcophagi for traps while Lars and Darrien hold the lid down.... Once Nuala gives the all clear, she'll tie some of our rope around the lid and then back up into the center of the room next to Aggy and Almon and myself.... Lars and Darrien can then step to either side of the alcove ready to attack. When everyone is ready, Aggy and I will pull on the rope, removing the lid and we'll start attacking whatever pops out at us. Sound good? Any ideas to improve this plan or maybe some other plan?

Good catch Aggrammar. . Yes the second round of detect evil would have told us the number of evil presences.. How many are there brvheart?

Might want to wait and see how strong the aura is as well.
Almon goes to stand where he is instructed. Just before the lid is opened, Almon will cast protection from evil, communal targeting Lars, Darrien, and Sorek (1 minute duration each).
Nuala Sataleeti
"Interesting plan.." Nuala does as suggested then backs off and prepares to fire her bow and whatever exits..
brvheart
Nuala wraps a rope around the outside of the lid of the sarcophagus. That is going to be some STR check trying to pull it off that way rather than a 2-man lift though.

HE said Aggy and Soreck would pull..

Str : 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Str: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
my logic with the rope is to avoid possible aao against whoever removes the lid

As you start pulling off the lid a shadowy form comes out of the sarcophagus and attacks Aggrammar

Aggrammar- Almon already casted Protection from Evil on Sorek, Darrien, and Lars. I'd say change actions or targets.

Almon steps back five feet and withdraws a scroll from his scroll box move action. He calls out the incantation and fires two bolts of force at the shadowy creature. Scroll of magic missle (3rd caster level)

Grrr... A surprise attack from the resident of the sarcophagus.. Just what his elaborate plan was supposed to prevent.
Frustrated at the failure of his plan, seeing the shadowy form rise and Nualas arrow pass right through it, Sorek recalls his training at the monastery where he was taught how to momentarily extend his form into the ethereal plane to combat ghostly beings. He can only do this momentarily and so he needs to strike hard and now.
Soreks fists briefly glow with an ethereal light and then he makes two quick strikes against the shadowy being

Sarcophagus 1: Contains a skeleton wearing rusted chain mail and
holding a sword.... It also contains a shadow which attacks
when the sarcophagus is opened.
The sword radiates magic. The shadow's actions were predetermined.
WabbitHuntr
Does the skeleton in the sarcophagus radiate evil when I detect evil on it? Or is it just a normal skeleton.? . Want to make sure he's not playing possum
If it radiates evil I'll let Darrien and Lars know so they can attack it.
If it doesn't radiate evil, "Almon that sword is magic. . Care to inspect it? "
And I'll try to remove the gem from the lid of the sarcophagus

Almon, apologies for my incorrectly cast spell earlier - I will pay more attention henceforth.
BOOM! A +1 longsword. Though... Who's gonna use it? :D
"Nice blade" - the dwarf comments, moving closer to his companions as they explore the second sarcophagus - "And some valuables - we're in luck lads" - he smiles.
Sorek
yes Aggrammar tis a nice blade.. I don't use them. But I can certainly appreciate a fine weapon. Glad you were able to avoid the shadowy creature. From the little I know of creatures like that, a touch from them is not something anyone would enjoy
yes Darrien... Soreks a detect evil and detect magic using fool lol
