Olimpia Beta II |

Not sure what map we are on so do not know where to move exactly.
Olimpia, sensing a quick kill pulls her second sword as she moves in. With no one to flank with she cannot do sneak attack damage and chooses the Plus 2 to attack and AC from Blessing of Fervor. She ends her spring attack adjacent to the foe so as to invite a flank from Raktar.

To make things clearer I've put up a new map to use for this. Palace battle map is up top and editable. Use that for the combat.
Elrys fills the unfortuante Ghartone with many arrows, followed by Olimpia cutting him down.

Raktar Garnok |

As the robots start to stir Raktar steps between them, swinging his hammer in a wide arc to disable one before it can reach full wakefulness.
I'll take the additional attack from blessing of fervor. Free Action to 5ft step, Full Round Action to full attack black (with excess attacks going against pink if needed.

Elrys Valrassedin |

How did I get sandwitched in between enemies in the opposite far corner of the previous hallway? Weren't we in the other room? As an archer Elrys would never go in front of the party. There's no space here to even 5ft step out of melee... Oh well.
Seeing herself suddenly swarmed with robots on all sides, Elrys quickly scampers back, trying to get behind Raktar while carefully avoiding his chainsaw!
Witdraw to behind Raktar. Would still provoke from pink I guess if he has a melee weapon.

Dilana Hemlock |

Dilana backs into the corner not at all happy about the mechanical men moving about. My hexes are no good. She opts for Air Geyser on guard bottom right.
2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
You create a powerful blast of air capable of flinging an opponent upward. If the target fails its Reflex save, the force of the air deals 2d6 points of bludgeoning damage and hurls the target upward a number of feet equal to 5 × your caster level. If a solid object (such as a ceiling) is encountered, the target strikes the object in the same manner as it would during a normal fall. After this blast of air ceases, the target falls down (unless it was flying), taking falling damage as normal. A successful save means the target takes half damage from the air blast but is not moved by it.

GM_DBH |

ref save vs Air Geyser: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
damage: 6d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 2, 1, 3) = 15
There is a roar of air as Dilana launches White into the air, a loud thud as it hits the ceiling is followed by another as it lands back on the floor.
Lilac swipes at Elrys as she scampers behind Raktar
Spear: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
But it misses.
Luthor & Olimpia to act.

Dilana Hemlock |

Dilana's eyes go wide, clearly she did not expect that to work.

Olimpia Beta II |

With a blade in each hand Olimpia goes into full blender mode and takes the extra attack from Blessing of Fervor. She focuses on Lilac first and if it drops she turns to white.

Elrys Valrassedin |

Not sure if everyone is taking it into account but you all have a combined +6 to hit and damage rolls, and +3 all saves if it matters, from buffs.

Olimpia Beta II |

Was only adding in +3 from you Elrys. Sorry I missed the other. GM, please add 3 more damage from Olimpia for each hit. :)

Raktar Garnok |

Not sure if everyone is taking it into account but you all have a combined +6 to hit and damage rolls, and +3 all saves if it matters, from buffs.
Thanks Elrys, I missed that. Where is the other +3 to hit and damage from? I got the +3 from inspiring good hope but not the other buff.

Elrys Valrassedin |

Inspire courage +3. Elrys is an evangelist cleric.

GM_DBH |

Olimpia shreds Lilac
Luthor turns the damaged White into red hot scrap.
He and Olimpia turn on Grey and turn him into spare parts.
Their AC is only 18 so Olimpia's first attack shredded Lilac, and Dilana made White her Jack-in-box so he was damaged as well.
Silence falls and you hear heavy foot steps coming towards the door from the room with the giants. There is a knock on the door.
"Trying ta sleep. What's all da noise?"
What are you doing?

Elrys Valrassedin |

Seeing her allies quickly cut down all the Robots, Elrys is about to relax when she hears the thundering footsteps of the sleeping giants approach - who then try to talk to them?
Thinking quickly, she casts Tongues and replies in their giant tongue with the very best bluff!
Spontaneously cast Tongues by giving up a third level spell, let's say magical vestments.
Bluff: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Hah!
"Yeah, nothing to worry about. Just performing routine maintenance on these damn robots. Software updates don't always go down easy, you know how it is. Wait-! Hey, you intern! Stop! No no no no no you don't open it th- Oh for F*ck's sake! Sorry guys, I need to scold this moron hard enough for his gramps to turn around in his grave. Go back to sleep and we'll handle it," She grumbles, trying to emulate Master Aldren back in Nerosyan.

Raktar Garnok |

Nice work Elrys!
Raktar keeps his hammer ready as a loud voice calls from the other side of the door. He's about to look round for someone to reply when Elrys calls back in the same rumbling language. Raktar keeps quiet, his hammer at the ready just in case whatever Elrys said didn't keep the giants from coming in.

GM_DBH |

There is a grunt.
Then the sound of heavy footsteps moving away.
Yeah. Sense motive untrained and at -2. Not going to bother.
Loot:
Wand of irradiate (12 charges, CL9),
Wand of lightning bolt (20 charges, CL9),
Wand of technomancy (24 charges),
Concussion grenade,
Cureall,
Fragmentation grenade (2),
Grade V hemochem (2),
Hype (4),
Sonic grenade,
Zero grenade (2),
Zortaphen (2),
Timeworn grenade launcher,
Ring of protection +1,
Blue access card, Cranial bomb,
Mark II dermal plating.
C39. Ghartone's Chambers:
Captain Ghartone has claimed this large room as his laboratory and personal
quarters during his extended stay in the palace as a Technic League liaison.
The room is well outfitted to serve as an alchemy lab and a magical lab (and contains 8,500gp in miscellaneous crafting supplies), but isn't a functional
technological lab of any sort-Ghartone returns to his lab in the Technic League compound when he wishes to craft pharmaceuticals.
Hype.
The Gearsmen robots only had Masterwork spears. C37 & C38 are now quiet. C39 is stairs down.
What are you doing now?

Raktar Garnok |

Raktar keeps quiet until he's sure the giants are out of earshot before turning to Elrys with a smile, clapping her on the shoulder. "That was some quick thinking, we could have been in real trouble," he says by way of congratulations.
He slings his hammer back on his pack and begins looking around for what Ghartone might have been hoarding. "We'll have to tidy up these bits," he says, looking around at the bits of robot and Ghartone's body. "What is all this stuff?" he asks, looking at all the tech.

Olimpia Beta II |

Olimpia smiles at Elyrs and nods agreement with Raktar.
I'd better take this grenade launcher. It's time worn and I can deal with such defects better than most. I'll carry the grenades as well if no one else specifically needs them.
It has not come up much but I have Lucky Glitch +12 (Ex) When rolling for a glitch roll twice and pick effect, add level to rolls. This does not lower the glitch chance but increases the chances that any glitch is beneficial or at least not as bad. Basically the higher number the better and I not only get to roll twice and pick the better roll but I add +12 to both rolls. Also the grenade launcher makes grenades much more useful as I can choose to let them detonate on impact or, like a thrown grenade on the next round. Thrown grenades are just too easy to avoid.

Raktar Garnok |

"Let's grab all this stuff and get out of here before something else tries to find out what all the noise was," Raktar suggests. While the others gather up the loot he drags the robot remains into Ghartone's lab and stuffs them under workbenches and into boxes to try to hide the evidence of their passing.

Luthor McBane |

"You got it." As Luthor aids in gathering the loot, "For the record, if anyone is interested in this Dermal Plating, I can help with that. But just so you know, it's attached to the outer layer of your skin. Which sounds painful, and probably is, but it does offer a bit more protection from weapons."
Taking note of the cranial bomb, "I DO NOT recommend this though. This'll kill you." He shakes his head warningly.

Raktar Garnok |

"Let's check these doors first," Raktar suggests, pointing at the two doors next to where they came in.
I'll check the door to C37a first, then the door to C38.

Luthor McBane |

Looking at the stairway, "I'm thinking we should check out the rest of this floor before heading downstairs. Mainly due to the fact we don't want anyone - or anything - following after us. You just never know. Unless the rest of you just want to. What do you all think?"

Olimpia Beta II |

Olimpia nods agreement. Wise council. I will scout. She slips on her ring and stealths away. Take 10 stealth gives her 59 while invisible.

Raktar Garnok |

”Agreed. There could be anything up here and we don’t want to run into things unprepared,” Raktar says as Olimpia slips away.
My preference would be to start with C31 and the rooms surrounding it.

Olimpia Beta II |

[[Too many doors to open to go unnoticed completely. Eventually I will run into an occupied room, so stay reasonably close and stay ready. With that Olimpia stealths south, listening to, inspecting, and opening doors as needed to explore.
Taking 10 her skills are listen 40, Detect Traps 45, and stealth 59.
1) Central Door, south.
2) 31
3) 32
4) 33
5) exterior curving hallway
6) 34
7) 35
Unsure if we have checked 19a or not.

Dilana Hemlock |

Figuring it will last a while Dilana casts See Invisible on Olimpia just to be covered.

GM_DBH |

C31. Hall of Broken Shields: Dozens of broken shields line this chamber's walls, each painted with the crest of a tribe conquered by Kevoth-Kul. In the center of the room stands a large, deeply scarred wooden table covered with empty mugs and drained wine bottles. A pile of gold coins sits before each seat. Stuck in the wood next to each coin pile rests a heavy meat cleaver, forcefully chopped into the table amid telltale crimson stains. In the center of the table, suspended within an unknown solution in a clear glass
vase float three greasy fingers.
A character who succeeds
at a DC 20 Heal check notes that none appear to be from
the same hand.
This room was formerly a meeting hall for
conversing with his generals or ranking members of the palace guard, but Kevoth-Kul uses it to play a little game he calls "Chopsy," which involves copious amounts of ale, gold coins, blindfolds, and razor-sharp meat cleavers. The bloody, ale-washed piles of coins on the table total only 82 gp.
C32. Storeroom: This chamber contains a number of tools such as hammers, rope, shovels, and torches. The trap door in area C32a leads down to area C8a.
C33. Repair Room: This room contains a large work desk and several tools, all of them covered in dust. Kevoth-Kul has little interest in repairing items-the Black Sovereign simply replaces the things he breaks.
C34. Consort's Lounge: This large room features several folding screens that can be used to divide the chamber into smaller rooms. Kul-Inkit has set aside the northeastern half of the room in this way as a place of privacy for her eight expert bodyguards, while she uses the southwestern half as a place to meet with her rare visitors.
C35. Consort's Bedchamber: Kul-Inkit spends most of her time here, often reading books she sends her bodyguards to fetch or in dalliances with other visitors-despite her position as Kevoth-Kul's consort, it has been years since she's been interested in spending personal time with him.
Olimpia. The Consort is a tall, stern looking woman Kul-inkit.
She is currently receiving a report on the Black Sovereigns increasing paranoia and violence from the effects of withdrawal. She looks disgusted.
What now?

Olimpia Beta II |

If opening the door far enough to see into the room does no give her away, Olimpia will re-close the door and back away to the others. Communicating as quietly as possible she will explain what she has seen. Not sure how she is receiving this report? Is someone briefing her or is she alone?

Olimpia Beta II |

Well, she is seems quite upset with the Black Sovereign at the moment. Perhaps she is ready for a change of leadership?

Dilana Hemlock |

"We should try talking first, or someone should not so much me. I have never been great with new people. If it doesn't work I can blind her I am sure..."
Dilana kind of trails off displaying her lack of gift with words.

GM_DBH |

OK. C34 is where the Consort is at the moment. Are you heading there to talk to her? With Olimpia's scouting you can get there without being stopped by guards. You will have her personal bodyguards to deal with when you enter the room though. Coming in with weapons sheathed and someone Diplomatic ready to talk would be a good idea.

Dilana Hemlock |

Dilana is happy to talk about at +0 I think no one wants her to do it.

Raktar Garnok |

Elrys is our diplomatic lead, it's definitely not me. I'm keen to try the weapons-sheated approach first.

Elrys Valrassedin |

Nodding, Elrys takes the front, bow on her back for now. It was a rather odd feeling to know you were about to talk to what passed for the Queen of a nation. Knowing it was extremely important and liable to go wrong, she casts her inspiring good hope on everyone before moving to the door and...
...Pausing just before knocking.
"No, I need to do better! Not just give my best, but do it as is expected of me. I'm not a little girl anymore. I am her Sword, her main representative in this region."
She takes a deep breath, drops her disguise back to her human form, and something in her bearing changes. She stood tall, proud and fearless, and walked into the room with no further hesitation. Not as the quirky mechanic, but as a battle-hardened servant of the Inheritor, brimming with confidence.
"Good day to each of you," She says as she briefly glances around the room but keeping most of her focus on the consort. "I am Elrys Valrassedin of the Church of Iomedae from Mendev, and these are my companions." She gives whatever gesture passes as a local greeting suitable to someone of high political stature, but doesn't bow or lower herself in any way. "Do I have the good fortune of spreaking with Kul-Inket, the Sovereign's consort? If so, perhaps we could help eachother. We've heard... troubling rumors regarding the Sovereign's health and dependancy on certain 'substances' supplied to him by the technic league. As a high-standing cleric, I could probably cure him of his health problems. That is, if you are agreeable to working out an arrangement."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (20) + 21 = 41
She would withhold information of the assassination of the drug supplier for now, just in case.
Played up the nat 20 a bit. Also, everyone has a +3 morale bonus to most rolls for 13 minutes. Elrys has an additional +1 due to Untold Wonder.

GM_DBH |

Kul-inkit is a slender but muscular Kellid woman with short black hair. She wears spiked hide armor and wields a battleaxe and heavy steel shield.
She doesn't seem surprised by your arrival and stills her bodyguards with a gesture. Regarding you with interest.
Traditionally, the Black Sovereign takes a consort upon ascending to the office. The role of consort is only partially one of pleasure or support it
is also effectively second-in-command of the nation of Numeria.
In theory, the consort is the person poised to take the role of Black Sovereign should the current one die. In practice, however, the violent ends met by most Black Sovereigns have coincided with the deaths of their consorts and many of their followers.
Kevoth-Kul's consort is a strong-willed but patient woman named Kul-Inkit. Although she respected Kevoth-Kul in the days leading up to his taking ofStarfall, her respect has waned as she's watched his descent into addiction, and her patience has worn thin.
She would like to see the Technic League run out of Numeria, but she won't cross into coldblooded murder, not even to gain the coveted title of
Black Sovereign.
"The League has been in a quiet frenzy the last few days. Something regarding a missing Captain. Would you know anything about this?" She asks you casually.
You have the feeling she's probing your feelings regarding the Technic league. She seems interested in having the Black sovereign cured as well, but sees it as only stop gap as long as the League still exists.
What do you say?

Olimpia Beta II |

Olimpia holds her tongue when asked about the Technic League, but it is obvious to everyone she wants to say something. She waits for Elrys to respond.
