Elrys Valrassedin |

"I agree... let's go and see what tries to fight us. We'll respond in kind!" Elrys replies, and puts the brain container back in her pack.

Olimpia Beta II |

Knowledge Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Can no one else roll?
limpia looks unsure. Those 4 guards, they are Kasatha, like Isuma. They may be controlled and used against their will. I would not kill them unless it is necessary. I fear more the brains that can move about. I do not think they will be idle while we fight their guardians.

Raktar Garnok |

Nope, just Olimpia by the looks of the character sheets.
"We don't know what we're facing, but we have not choice except to face it anyway," Raktar says resignedly. "We're not doing anything useful just standing here, I say we protect ourselves as best we can and react quickly to whatever happens once we move inside." With that, he readies his chainsaw and moves towards the next room.

Elrys Valrassedin |

This book has been knowledge: dungeoneering: the AP thusfar. Are all technology related checks dungeoneering? I've been strongly considering somehow picking up the skill from somewhere.

Olimpia Beta II |

Slipping back on her ring with a determined look on her face Olimpia nods to Raktar as she fades from view. Her disembodied voice implores Do not kill the guards if you do not have to. Instead of her second blade she arms her off hand with a sap.
I can boost that skill when we next level as well. A quick way to gain that skill is to buy an headband if Int with that skill "installed". Poof, your level in skill points in that skill.

Raktar Garnok |

Raktar's plan is for everyone to go in at once. We don't know what we're facing so having everyone's abilities on hand simultaneously is going to be safer and more effective than putting Olimpia or anyone else at risk on their own.

Elrys Valrassedin |

I think we're entering as a group with the plan of attacking whatever attacks us. If Elrys could, she would try to spare the brains unless they attack us too. I'm afraid we simply lack the knowledge required for a better plan as Raktar said. However, as we see the fight coming, Elrys will use a charge of her heightened awareness wand for an extra +4 init this combat. That would make her init roll +12/x2.

Olimpia Beta II |

At least let Olimpia move in a round before the group to give her a chance to be able to sap one or more of the guards. Hmm. MIghty be better to take the -4 to do nonlethal with a blade. Will look at that before the attack.

Dilana Hemlock |

First off I am sorry I am so slow. Crushed with life crap. Second, although it is not a class still I will put a lot of points in Know Dungeon next level. Even not being a class skill it should get it up there enough.
Dilana looks at Olimpia "Wait, just in case." and casts see invisibility on the android. With that she takes to the air staying behind everyone else.

Olimpia Beta II |

Olimpia will cast Shield on herself and move into position.
Is that to be a surprise attack or a full attack? And I do not see the enemy on the map to choose from?

Elrys Valrassedin |

Elrys cast Divine favor and begins inspire courage +3 as a move action. She lingers behind for now, outside the room, and waits for more information on their enemies during her first turn. Everyone should still have +4 good hope and the +3 bonus from inspire courage now.

Olimpia Beta II |

Olimpia takes a round to slowly and quietly get into position so she can full attack orange. Using Stun Baton instead of sap for electrical damage and an extra d8 electrical. Here's hoping they are not immune.

Note that if the enemy were to drop after the second attack she does not take the third.

Raktar Garnok |

Raktar uses his magic to quicken and protect his friends, a brief muttered prayer to Brigh causing a flash of silver light from his scars, before he moves into the room to back up Olimpia while keeping out of Luthor's line of fire. He engages his chainsaw and the roar of the motor echoes from the room's hard surfaces.

Raktar Garnok |

As Olimpia engages one of the guards Raktar moves into the room to engage the other one. Emboldened by his magic, and keen to prevent the group from being surrounded, he tries to hold the line against any reinforcements that might come. Elrys Valrassedin |

Elrys follows up close behind, and once she sees the long hallway properly, an idea forms in her mind. She prays to Iomedae and the crusaders who went before her, and a wall of slashing longswords forms to the west over the reddish guard - and hopefully cutting the two far guards off of the combat. Unless they walked through and injured themselves...
Elrys casts blade barrier over the second guard from the left, and tries to cut off overland access for the third and fourth to the left. Cant move Elrys atm but she'd be behind Raktar in the east of the room, facing west.
Blade barrier damage, dc 23 reflex: 12d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 4, 4, 2, 2, 5, 4) = 43

GM_DBH |

Raktar steps in and with a roar of his chainsaw cuts one of the Kasathas completely in half, as the two sections drop the the ground its head bulges obscenely and a creature squirms out to stand on the floor!
Devoid of a head, or any features at all save for four short, clawed legs, this creature’s body looks like a large, glistening brain.
Elrys drops her spell over Yellow

Ignoring the wounded but still hopefully flat footed Orange enemy Olimpia spring attacks intellect devourer, flanking with Raktar, before spring away. If orange or yellow are not flat footed of if they have combat reflexes they can take aoos on Olimpia but with Mobility and the buff her AC is +6 vs aoos, so 35.

Olimpia Beta II |

As she attacks she notes a few important traits of these new small enemies. We face tiny casters that require enchanted adamantine weapons to do full damage. They are magic resistant, immune to fire, and resist cold, lightning, and sonic. And a protection from evil spell will block them as if they were outsiders.

Dilana Hemlock |

Not liking one of the creatures being in the back of the group she focuses and casts suffocation on the orange attacker.

GM_DBH |

Actually it would be a Coup de grace as Orange is unable to defend himself or move being unconscious. So yes his head coats the floor and walls.
I'm going to rule that the Intellect Devourer inside the head takes some damage as well. Dilana's spell took Orange's HP to 0, so there was little left to soak up the damage.
Luthor blasts Orange's head off completely with a point black shot. The Intellect devourer inside the head stumbles onto the floor in shock, already wounded.
Orange is now a badly wounded Intellect Devourer.

Raktar Garnok |

Raktar takes an involuntary step back as a walking brain squirms out of the corpse of the kasatha he's cut down. He brings his chainsaw down tip first towards the wet looking brain-thing, hoping to eviscerate it before it can do anything horrific.

Sorry for the delay, I must have forgotten to post yesterday thoguh I read I was up. I'll add her bow rolls to a macro section in her profile so she can be botted easily.
With exploding enemies left and right between Luthor's musket and Raktar's chainsaw, Elrys has some difficulty hearing Olimpia's advice but believes she hears something among the lines of 'adamantine'. Still trying to take cover behind Raktar's muscular frame, she goed back to back with him. "Um, Raktar? I'll shoot the one behind us! Please don't suddenly turn around and slice me in half, okay?" She hopefully manages to shout over the roaring chainsaw, and first shoots the brain near Luthor. The intent was briefly stepping out from behind the oracle to shoot the one appraching him next, should the brain die and they were no longer be surrounded.
She knew that Raktar could handle whatever came his way in the meantime.

Flinching over the sounds of Luthors might gun being fired in their direction, the bullets whizz past Elrys and into the yellowish guard. Seeing Raktar ready with his chainsaw, she says: "Right, we got this! You take the small one here and I take the one further back!"
She waits for the firing line to open, and shoots the lumbering guard at the rear should it do. If not, she helps Raktar finish off yellow first, as these possesed guards didn't seem to have the self-preservation sense to run.

After studying the walls and pillars more closely you come to a horrible realization!
This eerie chamber is where the Dominion's power source comes from. The hive's walls and machinery are quite efficient and do not require significant amounts of power. What they do need is harvested from the digestion of organic material in area M4 and is augmented by the
extraction of tormented dreams siphoned from the brains contained in these two pillars.
The tiny points of light are more of the small jellyfish-like creatures-they siphon bits of thought from the trapped brains and transfer the
psychic energy to the walls. Little can be done to save the brains in these pillars, but destroying the pillars does allow them to finally die.
Each pillar has hardness 15 and 360 hit points, electricity damage inflicted to these objects is not halved and ignores hardness. A pillar can be immediately destroyed via a DC 40 Strength check or deactivated with a DC 35 Disable Device check.
What are you doing now?

Raktar Garnok |

"What is this place?" Raktar asks, looking around as he cleans the gunk out of his chainsaw. "Why are all these brains here?"

Elrys Valrassedin |

Elrys was just about to raise her bow at the invisible creature when there is a sudden splash of blood and Olimpia's shadow appears a good fifteen feat ahead of it, as if from nowhere. "Well done! Say, can you teach me how you move that fast, one of these days? Is that... magic? Some kind of Numerian speed technology? Or are you just naturally *that* quick?" she asks her Robotic ally as they search the bodies.
But then the eery surroundings press on the mood once more. Elrys listens to presumably Dilana's best guess on the workings of the massive brain cilinders in horror. "So... these brains are kept alive... so that the dominion can harvest energy from their nightmares? As in, the brains only dream nightmares? Are they ever even awake?"
Hesitantly, she reaches out to touch one of the glass compartments. "That would mean that they're living batteries in an eternal state of torture. I... wish I restore them. But... this is beyond any magic I know of. Even if I asked Iomedae for the kind normally reserved for high priests, and she deemed me worthy, I don't think that can regrow an entire body. Severed members, ruined organs, yes... but if there's only a brain?"
She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. "We- we need to kill them. All of them. It's the only help we can now give them. I think If I was in that situation and still able to think, I would want to die too. If anyone can destroy the machines or their supply, I will say a prayer to ease their passing."
