I changed my mind about the pregen and decided on Aramil. Hope I don't regret it. I'll post my purchases after I get off work. I know Aramil has 1 chronicle that hasn't been added in yet and I'd also like to change him over to the new Unchained rules since it would give me another feat.

I took the liberty of putting Rogar's image on the map since I could not find it

Rogar had me confused too... but yes, you are all back at the top, with the bridge in its original position.

![]() |

Yes, well... that didn't come out as clear as I'd wanted: I meant move up or down on the map. I should have written "north" or "south". Sorry for the confusion

![]() |

I just saw your traits, by the way, Rogar. Much as it sucks, you can't have more than one trait from any given category of traits, and what you've got there are both Faction/Campaign traits (unless they're an exception, which I would be completely unaware of if so). :(

![]() |

Sorry, seems like I didn't correctly update Rogar's info. If you check the sheet hosted at myth weavers (link is on the left) you'll see Rogar has "An axe to grind" instead of "vindicative" for trait. It was a mistake I did when I created the character and corrected it almost immediately, but somehow I forgot to update the info on the sheet.
Thanks for reminding me!

Silas, you are using power attack, right? If so, I think you forgot that at 4th lvl power attack increases its damage to 4 and its penalty to hit to -2.
In other words a lvl 4 paladin with Str 18, weapon focus and Gamin using Power Attack (btw seems the perfect weapon for Isger Fixer!) would hit with a +9 bonus (+4 for str +4 BAB +1 weapon +1 guidance-2 for Power Attack) and his damage would be +13 (+4 for str + 4 for PA +2 for an extra half str bonus to dmg due to holding the sword 2 handed and +2 for half again PA damage due to PA holding the sword 2 handed +1 for the sword being +1)
Also I think you should not consider Gamin casting guidance as a simple +1 to hit: Guidance can also do different things than +1 to attack and it takes Gamin 1 standard action to cast it anyway, so when you get iterative attacks you won't be able to apply the bonus to more than 1 roll).

![]() |

You're right, I did forget the 4th-level increase to Power Attack. And yea I've been thinking about going the Furious Focus-Vital Strike way at later levels to take advantage of that first hit. Although I hadn't considered the other uses of guidance... May have to use that more from now on!

Now here's a question: Would you rule that attacks that do both cutting AND bludgeoning damage (like bites and claws) damage ochre jellies or split them?

GM DevilDoc |

Good question. At first thought, I would be willing to meet you in the middle: if the attack hits, the jelly would split, but instead of taking no damage from the attack, it would take full damage as well.
edit: Actually, it is too low on hit points to split again.. so moot point..

![]() |

If I may metagame just a bit: I know what these creatures are even without looking at the spoiler, and know they should in fact be covered under Knowledge (Dungeoneering).

![]() |

Yes, I seem to recall Rogar used Knowledge (Dungeoneering) to identify them last time they met.

GM DevilDoc |

I have had some trouble with figuring out what DC's to put to creatures and what knowledge rolls to use, so I have been going by THIS which lists any animals as under K. Nature. However, you bring a good point that I had missed.. this creature is an aberration which is under dungeoneering.

![]() |

Remind me: Do wands provoke attacks of opportunity? Do scrolls? I kind of have a feeling (guided by, for want of a better term, common sense) the former does not, but the latter does.

![]() |

Right on: using a wand does not provoke an attack of opportunity while reading a scroll does.
Note that the only magic items whose activation causes an AoO are potions and oils, while reading scrolls provokes.

![]() |

Sorry, everything is ok. I'm in a Hotel with a spotty Internet connetion and I have to reload the page a hundred times before I get one post done. It's really frustrating :/ Thanks for your Patience and please bot me when it's necessary.

So: What would the mi-go have done if it had gotten away, and what was the real deal with the stuff in the display gallery?

![]() |

Great game everyone! I had a blast. Now let's loot the place and get back to Absalom! :P

![]() |

GG everyone :-)

V: If the Mi-go had gotten away, it was armed with a scroll of summon monster III, scroll of summon monster IV, wand of charm monster (10 charges), wand of invisibility (15 charges), wand of sound burst (15 charges). It could also channel negative energy at 2d6 (this I didnt do because it would have healed the skeletons..) The plan was to pull a fighting retreat with invisibility and sneak attacks until either it had the upper hand or it escaped. With all of that gear, I actually went a lot easier than I could have, but on the flip side, there was massive damage being done every turn against it too. I think the fight went really well all things considered!!
When I played this, we did not have any massive tank like Rogar to step in and trade blows. Our spell caster bailed on the game a little before the Mi-go, and we were ALL suffering from at least one ability damage. In addition to this, our paladin had his intelligence and charisma so low that we were literally leading him by the hand as he messed his trousers. There was one member of our party that escaped.. and that was because myself and one other were engaged and he ran like a rabbit. Good choice, as we both fell the next turn.
As for the stuff in the gallery, you were correct. Most everything was cursed. A Perception of 30 would have found an amulet of natural armour +2 (I think) hidden in the saddle, but everything else would have gotten you. The spear was +2 backbiter, The bag of holding was really a bag of devouring, and the bag was a Bag of Tricks that instead of calling something usefull would call out a swarm of vermin. The bones would have sickened you with radiation, the Construct could have activated and rampaged, and the pod would have produced anything that I felt like putting in there, and the eyes.. well, lets not go there. Thats just plain icky. Other than the Amulet, the only thing that would have helped was the Bloodstones. These, when added to a potion it would have made the potion as if effected by Extend Metamagic spell.

and the eyes.. well, lets not go there. Thats just plain icky.

V: If the glass jar were broken, they would mechanically become the same as a leech swarm.. using the hanging optic nerve as a means of propulsion and biting with the needle sharp teeth extruding from the pupil area. I personally have a really big "thing" about eyes.. about 10 years ago, I took a paintball to they eye and had to undergo 5 surgeries. Ever since then.. well I just stay away from any eye damage in movies, etc, and the mental images I got from reading the text were enough to make me very thankful that you left them in the jar.
I will begin working on the chronicles today, and should get them up by tonight.
