ULTIMATE POWER! And wee little arms. No, bears don't get a reach. That's ok. It's the drawback of being so big and fighting in little tunnels.

It is simply too much exposure to the smell. Despite his amazing constitution, the Bear eventually retches.

CRUSADERS VS GHASTS!! ROUND 2!! FIGHT!! OOH OHH AH!!
DIRE BEAR JOHANN! Destroyed front 2 ghasts!
QUINLAN THE WIZARD!
OGON FOX & ORPHEUS THRUSH! Cast mystic bolt at a ghast!
ZAGATHOTH THE BRAWLER! Destroyed 2 ghasts in second rank!
ARC PERDU LE ROUGE! Delayed til Zag killed middle 2 ghasts, then moved to engage last 2 ghasts!
CARDINAL LUCIUS!
BOGA, HAND OF JAN HUS!
(2 left of 6) GHASTS!
EEEEEEK!! EEEEEK!!

Boga |

As Zagathoth advances, Boga calls for God's favor in fortifying him. "Thy servant has need of thee, Lord. Bless him to resist the evil of the Ghasts!"
+2 Sacred to saving throws. With Shield Other, this gives Zagathoth a +3 on saves.

Arc Perdu GM bot |

@Johann: Arc will make an attack and then use Acrobatics to do a backward roll between Bear’s legs to get out of his way once he realizes he’s blocking Bear, who clearly does superior damage output! Lol!
Egads! I am in Monsieur Johann’s way! He and Monsieur Zagathoth can destroy both of these ghasts much quicker than I can... I will strike once, and then tumble between Monsieur Johann’s legs, that he might reach them and lay them to eternal rest!

A brief flash of golden light radiates from the ring attuned to Zagathoth on Boga’s finger, and the corresponding ring on Zagathoth’s finger...

Zagathoth |

fort saves: 6d20 ⇒ (15, 16, 19, 17, 15, 18) = 100

As Cardinal Lucius watches the fight, have him roll a Perception check at -5 distance penalty vs Stealth check 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30.

Michael Johnson 66 |

Zagathoth can attempt a DC 30 Perception check at -1 distance penalty...
Johann can attempt a DC 30 Perception check (sight) at -2 distance penalty, but also, the Bear’s keen nose picks up an evil, carrion-mixed-with-vulture-mixed-with-brimstone stink from the northwest, it’s source just at the westbound corner ahead...
Arc will attempt the check at -1 for distance...
Boga can attempt the check at a -3 distance penalty...
Fox can attempt the check at a -3 distance penalty...
Quinlan can attempt the check at a -5 distance penalty...

The Ogon Fox |

Orpheus Perception DC 30: 1d20 + 13 - 3 ⇒ (9) + 13 - 3 = 19
Should have included another +2 on Fox's modifier for Alertness (feat granted by having familiar within arm's reach) but still falls way short.

Gojira, King of Kaiju |

Tuesday, 9th of January, 11:00 PM, Japanese Island of Honshu, twenty leagues north of the blazing ruins of Edo:
Gojira continues his apocalyptic rampage, stomping and incinerating a swath of utter destruction hundreds of yards wide! His colossal reptilian feet trample an ancient bamboo grove to smithereens, pounding the high stalks down into massive, claw-shaped craters! The King of Kaiju seems to recall an ancient memory...
There are others besides me... Foes to fight!... and friends to go rampaging with!... Mothra! Mothra is my friend!... or is she my foe??... Can’t recall... Doesn’t matter, she’ll remind me after I wake her, I suppose... thinks Gojira out loud: YYYRRREEEAAAAARRRKKKK!!!! BBRRREEEEEAAAAAARRRRKKKK!!! GGGRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

Fox recognizes this fiend from an entry he once read in an ancient bestiary! It is a greater demon called a vrock! Unfortunately, that’s about all he knows about it—that it’s a greater demon, and it’s called a vrock...

He would at least know the standard traits of the demon subtype though, right? I’m just trying to see if he can tell me enough to justify taking Dedicated Adversary (technically there’s nothing in the feat or martial flexibility that stops me from taking it either way, I just like to have a little verisimilitude).
@Boga- how long does that save increasing blessing last?

Just have time for very quick post
Planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Need to put more into this! But that will work for now...
Don't know that can post until much later, but will immediately communicate whatever he learns to the group through free action speaking
EDIT: @Zagathoth, unfortunately, at this time, Boga can only make it last one round at a time, so with new initiatives, it would be over? (@MJ66?) You still have the +1 from the Shield Other, though (and +1 deflection)

The Ogon Fox |

The Fox's eyes grow wider yet as he sees his mystic bolts bounce harmlessly off this great enemy.
"This is a greater demon--a vrock! My electric attacks have no effect on it whatsoever!"
The Fox lays a hand on his cold iron dagger, but there is trepidation in his eyes.
On my next turn I'll cast Blur...probably on Johann. If we're not running for our lives by then. =)

Boga knows that the vrock has resistance to magic (SR 20), is immune to electricity and resistant to nearly all other forms of energy damage, and also resistant to weapons that aren’t good-aligned... He also has heard that vrock demons can perform a particular horrific dance called the dance of ruin which supposedly has some kind of dangerous effect on mortals...

Lucius sees the demon around the corner and mutters something unrepeatable under his breath before summoning his faith and resolve.
"The Lord is just! He will not allow us to fall before this beast!"
Activate Destruction judgement on the vrock and cast Prot from Evil on self. I think this might be a good fight to see how much a fully buffed Lucius can actually do!

I was just thinking the same thing, Padre...
Zagathoth focuses on all that Fox and the healer have said about the demon, and lets it shape his stance and the form of his attacks. Doomcrescent carves a shallow rift in the demon’s abdomen, and it hisses sharply! HHHIIISSS!!!

Ghost of Garçon Du Berry |

Arc tries to ignore the Ghost of Du Berry, which again appears to him alone, pleading in sepulchral French which only the Scarlet Magus can hear: ARC!! Do not be the fool! You and your friends are no match for this demon! I KNOW FIRSTHAND WHAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF, Monsieur Perdu! It WILL kill you all most horribly, and then I shall NEVER be laid to rest!!

Does this count as 'the end of the combat' for the purpose of my judgements?
"It seeks to lure us!" Lucius calls, his voice stern. "We must proceed, but be careful - it will likely have traps prepared. Zagathoth!" His voice cracks like a whip, to snap the raging orc out of his bloodlust. "We must fight this thing together! If you seek to fight in melee then surround the creature, let The Bear find room to use his claws!"
Who is packing a deflection bonus right now? Lucius can hand another one or two out as we move.
With his speech done and tactics planned Lucius strides forward, his new sword vibrating slightly in his grip.
