Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Next feat, Iron WIll!
"Not much chance of either of those, my dear!" Emerion breaks from the zombies and races up the stairs to the balcony, looking to close with the woman (40' movement could do so?) and strike (Shaken for -2, Combat Expertise Active for -2/+2, AC to 24 - I assume she hit last time because she was unseen).
Attack (if he closes far enough): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 2) + 2 = 10
"After all, he was a sad excuse for a healer when he was spreading disease - although I suppose it was job security, after a fashion."

Heather mows down three zombies with a sheet of electricity. Emerion rushes upstairs.
Keliwyn and Kenan both draw their swords. Kenan stays with Heather and Keliwyn dashes up the stairs after Emerion.
Neil, just one visible zombie left. You may retcon that channel if you wish. Let me know please.
Dabbler, stairway starts in D6 and up going south then east from there. Once you get upstairs you have to double back. I don't have the upstairs map in front of me, but I'm sure you'll have to double move. So the question is how close do you want to get? If you can get adjacent to her (and possibly draw AoO) do you want to?

Retcon...
Istas flinches at the sound of the screaming bolt and the heretofore unseen speaker. 'What are we dealing with...who are we dealing with...' she wonders as doubt creeps into her mind.
Even so, the sight of the approaching zombies summons back her ingrained hatred for the undead.
"I've got this one," Istas tells Heather, "Take the fight to the crazy woman." She springs forward with her peacebringer dagger. "End this mockery of both life and death, my Lady!"
Melee attack with slashing weapon... 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Emerion can get adjacent. UNfortunately she's not wielding a bayoneted crossbow of doom.
Kenan O'Flarna |
I'll level up Kenan when you have had a chance to look at that prestige class I PM'ed you the link for.
Kenan has a change of heart and heads after Emerion catching up near the top as the duellist leaps three steps at a time.
Kenan has 40ft foot speed too.
CrimsonDM |
Istas severs undead animation from body.
Keliwyn sticks close to Heather in case more zombies arrive to threaten her.
Round 2 Init:

"Oh my you're fast. Do you know when to go slow? " She rolls her hips and throws her knees wide. Meanwhile she lifts hand to mouth and drains a vial in her hand. She begins to fade from view as she steps away.
GOt to get a map up.
Drinking that potion will net her an AoO from both Kenan and Emerion. Then she's invisible and moving somewhere generally away from you.
Kenan O'Flarna |
Kenan slices the blade upwards in a tight arc towards the lady's wrist. He watches her fade helplessly.
mwk elven curveblade 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9, damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9, impressive comeback huh!
Then he carefully listens to her receding footsteps.

Heather Whiteraven |
Heather makes her way up the stairs with a look like thunder.
"Dammit I can't fight in a ball gown" she fumes "Kel..do me a favour and cut the lacings on the back off this..carefully please."

Keliwyn follows behind Heather. At her request he draws his dagger and starts sawing delicately away at the lacings.
[ooc] Nice RP touch there, Wellard.
She's gone. So you all are up in Round 2.
Alas, socked in at work. Maybe Sat before I post again. The map will take some time. Dabbler if you have a copy of the AP and want to do up a second floor map, I'd be grateful. If not we'll wait for me.
CrimsonDM |
Quick check in. FW, if you're asking about a 2nd chance on the AoO -- unfortunately no. Emerion and Kenan attacked before she was invisible. If you're asking about your regular attack action in round 2, I'll give you a choice. You can know where she is within one of two squares, but not communicate it to the party, or you can know where she is within one of 6 squares and tell all. It's a small bonus courtesy of the 20v1 perception v. stealth roll, even though she auto-beats you with the invisibility modifier.
CrimsonDM |
No time to do up a map until maybe Tuesday. Let's press on without. Working from memory....
The second floor has a large hole in the middle surrounded by a 10 or 15' wide wood floor. East and west a row of French doors open onto balconies. North and south walls are lined with rooms. The doors are all ajar.
Em and Kenan stand at the west end of the hole. The Voice has retreated north or northwest. Heather and Keliwyn are on the south side of the hole at the southeast corner.
Istas is still on the ground floor. There's movement in the room to the north of her. (No doors, two open arches to that room.)
Round 2 Init:
The Voice, 18 And where is that speaker, indeed? (Done)
Heather, 16 (Done?)
Keliwyn, 15 guarding Heather (Done?)
Emerion, 13
Istas, 12
Kenan, 7
Istas Wraithscar |
Still somewhat shaken by the eerie bolt fired by their unseen attacker, Istas reluctantly heads upstairs. She's of half a mind to stay below and follow the sounds of movement on the ground floor. But, she assumes her friends will need her, and there's always safety in numbers. As she ascends the steps, she watches the blade of her dagger very closely, counting on its glow to alert to her to any more undead which might appear.
At the top of the landing, she pauses and considers what aid Pharasma might lend her in this situation.
Move action to top of the stairs.
"Lady, show me that which crosses with my fate," she whispers, closing her eyes for a brief moment.
Standard action to use her remote viewing ability for a single round to peer beyond the doors of the room downstairs which lay to the north. Acts as clairaudience/clairvoyance with plenty of range. She'll spend just a single round of viewing to determine if more undead lie beyond that door, or perhaps someone who survived the carnage.
CrimsonDM |
Istas' dagger continues to glow brightly when she reaches Heather and Keliwyn at the top of the stairs.
Istas Wraithscar |
"Be on your guard," Istas announces when she reaches her friends, "Whatever villain is responsible for this carnage left more undead for anyone venturing here."
The priestess grips her dagger in one hand and keeps the other clasped around her goddess's holy symbol.
"You undo the living, and I'll take care of the dead."
Heather Whiteraven |
Heather shucks off the tightly boned bodice and full skirts of her gown.. daintily stepping out off them to stand in in her chemise and petticoats.
"Right then..like Istas says..lets put this b***h down"
Kenan O'Flarna |
Kenan waits then when Emerion tries to listen he charges where he saw the carpet briefly ruck up, purposefully leaving himself open to attack.

Kenan lunges forward swinging his blade at apparently empty air, but it meets resistance and comes away red with blood. There's a shriek and scramble as his target pulls away.

And the invisible menace is gone.
Round 3 Init:

"Gone, and she'll be throwing obstacles at us every step through this mansion. Onward, my friends, we'll have to do this all the hard way."
Emerion scans about and listens for signs of life (or unlife).
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Kenan O'Flarna |
Just realised today I should have grappled Mrs Invisible. Should have, could have, would have..... that Voice is going to be a pain. Glitterdust anyone?
Kenan mutters something under his breath and scans for signs of blood drops from the wound.
Perception chcek 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Heather Whiteraven |
"Oh the spell itself can be measured in minutes..but if we face a bard or a sorceress like me then she could renew it when it runs out..we will only see her if she takes direct offensive action against us"
"On the other hand she cant avoid webs..or swarms if I unleash those into a room so we do have some spells that can neutralise her if we can drive her into a dead end"
Istas Wraithscar |
Istas leans close so she can whisper to Heather without being overheard by their unseen attacker. "Pharasma's power can also affect the arcane world," she offers, "If we can discern her location, I may be able to dispel her invisibility. And, provided Kenan, Emerion, and myself are ready, we could grab her before she can renew her deception. Or, if you're prepared with one of those webbing spells, we may catch her that way, as well."
CrimsonDM |
Grappling would have been a good idea, FW. I was wondering when Wellard would get around to web. ~Sigh.~
There is a blood trail which dries up quickly. Your healing supposition looks accurate.
I hear lots of discussion. Any actions for this round? Wait for the next strike? Go to the kitchens?
Istas Wraithscar |
"Let us see what Pharasma reveals..." Istas announces, holding aloft her holy symbol and chanting softly until her eyes turn icy blue.
"Neither the living, nor the dead may hide from my Lady's eyes. And that's doubly true for those who animate the dead in defiance of her will. Clearly, she led us here to complete the task of undoing those who gave aid to Davaulus. Thus, despite your magic, our paths shall soon literally cross in this place. And, when they do, we'll be sending your soul to join him in the Boneyard. From there, Pharasma shall judge you both and forever remove you from this mortal plane."
Istas casts deathwatch as we follow the blood trail. If she gets a sense of where the unseen attacker is located and can determine that he or she would be hemmed in within a small room or the corner of a larger room (even if Istas needs to herd the attacker in such a direction), she'll let Heather know so she can cast web to catch their foe.
The deathwatch spell will last for 1 hour. It has a 30-ft. range in a cone-shaped pattern.
Emerion Brightsmith |
sighs..Heather has two scrolls of See Invisible..but who brings their scroll collection to a party?
Adventurers.
"Last time I tried flour it didn't work so well," Emerion murmurs, recalling Dr. Devalis. "We'll just have to be vigilant."
CrimsonDM |
Istas is still rocking the deathwatch she cast when she walked in. You may cast another if you like. Dabbler, I do believe it was wine.
Kenan, Emerion, Istas near upper left corner of the hole in the floor. Heather and Keliwyn near lower right corner.
From the southwest corner of the room (lower left) comes a trilling laugh. "Do you like games?
Emerion Brightsmith |
Emerion looks around and then grins. He shoots Heather and Kel a glance; meeting Kel's gaze he flicks his eyes to the stairs, and then glancing at Heather and then at the corner where the voice came from.
Bluff (pass secret message, normal DC15): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Kenan O'Flarna |
Kenan smiles at the humourous words and starts mouthing a spell. He begins to gesture and call the divine power from his symbol to pull a faithful creature from the Planes of Goodness.
Summon Monster II - celestial ant - full round action.
"Run or stay, my friends will hunt you down and once found the game shall end. Painfully for you."
Istas Wraithscar |
Istas meet's Heather's eyes by staring across the balcony and almost imperceptibly shakes her head when she hears the laughing voice. "Trust my Lady's guidance, not your ears," she tells the others. The priestess then moves with a purpose along the north side of the hole, her dagger at the ready and her holy medallion clasped in her other hand.

I'll cleave to the rolled initiative order in resolving events. Round 3
Istas searches and follows the aura of the invisible voice. Kenan begins casting his summons. Emerion waits for his friends magics to reveal a target.
Round 4 Init:
The Voice, 18 And where is that speaker, indeed? (Done)
Heather, 16
Keliwyn, 15 guarding Heather
Emerion, 13
Istas, 12
Kenan, 7
The aura of the voice slips eastward and Istas stalks behind. Cued by the priestess' movements, Heather hazards her sparking hands. The spray of sparks envelopes a broadly gowned feminine form. There's a shriek of surprised pain and she's gone.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
But she's at the northeast corner of the hole. Keliwyn moves up to get between her and Heather. He may do more if Bill posts. Emerion is up.
Emerion Brightsmith |
Emerion advances along the north wall of the room, between the balustrade and the wall, to the end of the former, his blade flicking back and forth erratically in front of him almost like a blind man's cane sweeping each square ahead of him as he goes - up to Thom how many squares he can cover like this. If he contacts something he will try a thrust.
CrimsonDM |
Dabbler, sorry I wasn't super clear. You know her square and can reach it easily, it's only 15 or 20 '. Thrust away.
FW, I'm chuckling. "The ant is coming!" Did you ever hear Woody Allen's bit about his childhood pet?
Emerion Brightsmith |
Okies!
Emerion lunges to the attack: Combat Expertise active, +2 AC -2 hit, Emerion's flat-footed AC to 18, but I will assume the deadly defence bonus will not apply much as sneak attack does not apply to invisible creatures.
Miss Chance (50%): 1d100 ⇒ 36

CrimsonDM |
Emerion misses.
On the miss chance. Istas is up. AND THEN THE ANT ARRIVES.
Sorry, guys. I had no inspiration over the weekend and yesterday was very busy.
CrimsonDM |
Istas moves forward, her dagger flares with light as she passes the open doorway. Inside are two female zombies, one, who is in near regal dress, was your hostess Madame Carowyn. Although momentarily distracted Istas closes with the Voice's location and slashes away.
I swear she drops 4 intelligence points when I play her. All the PCs do.
Miss 1-50 1d100 ⇒ 7 that was easy.
Keliwyn continues to faithfully guard Heather from harm.
It's the ant's turn. And Kenan too. I have purposely not looked up the ant so that FW may have the pleasure of telling me how it will devil my poor miscreant himself.
Kenan O'Flarna |
Ant stats
Slowly the chittering grows louder, the antennae appear first followed by its head, and silver armoured body tipped by a glistening golden tail. It appears next to Emerion and then moves about scenting for an enemy. The soldier ant glistens and shines like a celestial god ant should. Its divine eyes and glands swing left and right searching for danger.
The ant can move 50ft in a move so this one will gradually move ahead and around the corner area, but its scent ability means it can sense the creature within 30ft. If within 5ft then the ant knows and can attack.When and if it finds an invisible target it bites. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7, miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 25, damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6. If the ant only has up to move 5ft then the full attack can happen. Sting 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20, miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 3, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
