The bandits refuse to answer Big Head: they know what waits for them when Brevish guards show up and would rather die quietly than rise to petty insults.
The Greenbelt, south of Brevoy, has largely been left unexplored in recent years. Rumors abound about ancient forts and rich lands but there are no known landmarks, towns or roads.
Numerous trappers work in the forests south of the Thorn River, one of the rivers branching off the Tuskwater, a large lake to the south of you.

Dom Riverby |

"As far as I am concerned, Big Head, you are welcome to the amulet. Given the manner in which Erastil has appeared to some, I had thought that this Stag Lord might be aping him in some way. I suppose my biggest interest in this horde of ours would be some arrows." 10, maybe? I'd have to look at the weight calculations.
After nearly soiling himself watching the Professor deal with the bandits, hearing his kinds words comes as a surprise, but a warm and welcome one. "Thank you, Professor," is all he can say while maintaining his composure.
Turning to Laurel, he asks, "Are your experiences with bandits tales you would be willing to share, or memories best left alone? "

Prof. Rory One-Fang |

Well that settles it - Rory just killed the bandits per Dom. Good teamwork guys!
I suspect he was referring to my Intimidation attempt. Although I've got this Great Axe ...
"If anyone doesn't have a mount, we should all have one. It might make travel easier. The rations we can use. I have no use for those weapons or armor and I leave those up to the rest of you. I'm sure our hosts would offer a fair price."

Laurel Bracey |

I am feeling much better (full health), Thank you Berrik.
I will take the composite longbow (I have +4 on my Str and I can use martial weapons plus it can be fired from horseback) and 2 quivers of arrows (so 40 arrows total).
I have Blaze and I wouldn't trade him in for another horse.

Dom Riverby |

"Truly, I am just looking forward to our adventure, it does not matter to me where we head first. So long as I am prepared, that is, and to that end I will secure another quiver of arrows."
I'll have to get a mount, too -- how much will that cost, and what exactly does a halfling ride?
I may also change my spell list for the day, as Alarm seems more appropriate for traveling in uncharted territory...would that make sense or is Protection from Chaos the more sensible choice?

Studious GM |

The journey into the forest is actually quite pleasant. Light moves through the leaves and you can hear wildlife moving through the forest.
As the day grows longer you come into a small clearing shaped like an arrowhead and you can see tall green stalks pushing out from the ground.
More unusually you see six small, scaled creatures lying on their backs moaning and several baskets nearby.
When you approach they manage to roll to their feet and squeak at you, holding aloft several rusty daggers.
Big people go away! Radishes ours!

Berrik Belmorn |

Greyscales, you say! I am pleased to meet you.
to party They are Greyscales Kobolds, used to being killed by every larger creature whom they come across. They claim this is their territory and we will steal their radishes. I want to see what bandits they know about. I hate to just kill them for being alive. Maybe we can enlist them.
We are not hear to steal your radishes. We are exploring this area. Perhaps you can help us? I know there are a lot of bad big people around these parts. We would love to deal with them on a permanent basis

Dom Riverby |

"Thank you for the translation, Berrik. I for one was not looking forward to the prospect of a laceration from their worn out weaponry."
Quietly, to himself, "And for radishes? Yick."

Studious GM |

One of the kobolds turns a little green.
Me no feel so good...
The one who took the lead looks alarmed.
You no throw up! Big people kill us all the time, big people mean!
He turns back to Berrik
Big people all over - big people up north in big outdoor cave! Me hear from cousins south that big people there too, but most big people wander, dress like bears, carry furs!
He preens.
Big people not like kobolds, no have dragon blood! Not able to stand cold like kobolds. You no take radishes?

Berrik Belmorn |

to party:One is clearly not well. The Leader says there are big people up north, I assume Oleg's, and there are "big people" down south. I imagine that is the heart of the Stag Lord's area. Mostly they roam he says. And they are really worried we are goign to take their radishes
To the LeaderIt looks to me the Radishes may not agree with you. Your friend appears ill. Might our Priest tend to him? A noble kobold should not suffer so.
Dismount, being careful not to be near my sword.

Dom Riverby |

"If they will accept it, I will lend whatever aid I can, though I never trained specifically on reptilian biology." Dom readies his healing kit, and adds, "I suppose you can leave that last part out."

Studious GM |

The kobold looks scandalized.
You big dummy! You eat too many, now they think you sick! Use big people magic on you!
He smacks the sick-looking kobold on the back of the head.
He fine, just eat too much and nervous. Big people usually come back with big knives, stab kobolds.
He looks at the five of you warily.
Me make deal with you. Since kobolds big tribe, we normally kill you all. But since me feeling nice, me let you go if you leave radish patch alone. Deal?

Dom Riverby |

"I recall Oleg saying something about the Sootscale kobolds...are these of the same group?"
Dom then considered his words, taking care not to offend them further, in case they could understand more than they were letting on.
"Oleg had said the Sootscales were a proud tribe, well known for their honorable and good conduct towards peaceful travelers. Surely they would not be opposed to some aid. Is something troubling their people?"

Berrik Belmorn |

They said Greenscales, so not sure who these are. The leader offered:
Me make deal with you. Since kobolds big tribe, we normally kill you all. But since me feeling nice, me let you go if you leave radish patch alone. Deal?
I think we got our information. What else do we want to add to this? They don't get to attack Oleg's?

Dom Riverby |

"I have no issue with leaving their radish patch alone. Before requesting that they leave Oleg's alone, would it help to ask if they have ever attacked him?"
Dom hears some strained respiration from the Professor, and turns to him. Eager to help, he asks,
"You sound most uncomfortable, Professor. Do you require assistance? Do you have an allergy of some kind?"

Berrik Belmorn |

Let them go, and we leave these radish's alone. Seems a good enough deal to me. I am going to tell them if we hear of them attacking normal trappers or traders, they are going to be in trouble
Draconic I know that the mighty Greyscales are a force in the Greenbelt. We are honored to treat with you. I know that Kobalds keep their word better than most Humans. This group will consider this patch yours in exchange for safe passage through these lands. We expect you will let your fellows know.
I offer you another deal as well. There are bandits in these lands, to the south. They prey on other humans. Any information you bring north to Oleg's on these bandits, we can act on, to rid these lands of their foul blood.
Berrik bows deeply,
To this, I Berrik Belmorn, do give my word, upon my sacred honor
