Magestreia |

Magestreia shrugs. "I'm sure people have equally venomous things to say about adventurers."
She finishes divvying up the blankets and bedrolls with Nolletta and sets up a spot for her to sleep. "In this day and age, it's easier to trust who you know and have been there for you anyway."
The brawler buries herself underneath two blankets and falls asleep pretty quickly.

As the others start settling down for the night, Tesia continues to sit next to Rhy as she reads through the material she had to get through tonight. As she reads, Tesia keeps her ears open for possible trouble.
She really hoped they didn't have any trouble, she wasn't in the mood to deal with it. She had no idea what the old man's beef was, or why he acted like a jerk. He reminded her of all the other small minded fearful nitwits that were back in her own village...and the others that came after them.
Closing her eyes for a moment, Tesia takes a deep breath before letting it out slowly. Letting in those kinds of thoughts right now would do no good, and would only keep her from concentrating on what she was supposed to be reading. Taking another breath she holds it for a few seconds before letting it out slowly. Re-opening her eyes, Tesia tries to refocus on her studies.

Tesia sighs and puts her book down while pinching the bridge of her nose. Would she ever be allowed to finish the thing? Maybe these were the things the old man was talkijng about? It was probably just a misunderstanding. Well, nothing would get solved with her sitting here. Getting up she picks up the bag as she looks at Rhy, "I hear shouting and howling from the North. I mean to see what's going on. I'd rather not wake the others, so you can come with me, or guard the camp. If you stay here and there's any kind of trouble, I'll signal with some lightening or something."
Looking towards the North she says, "I'm just going to see what all the fuss is about, and get to the bottom of things." Going to her wife she gives her a kiss, "I love you." Turning into a hawk, she flies up, but stays where Rhy can see her in case she decides to go with her, and heads north to find the cause ofc the noise and her reading disruption.

Tesia Stormbringer |

Just out of curiosity, if I changed to my giant eagle form, how difficult would it be for me to snatch up the ones running on the ground? Like one ijn each talon, and one in my beak, provided they're wearing clothing ofc course. What kind of roll would that be, and how difficult would it be to pull off? I don't think I can take on all 6 of the ones chasing them, and distracting them just depends on if Rhy is there or not. The only thing I can really think of, is snatch up the three r unnijng and get them somewhere safe so we can figure out what's going on.

Tesia Stormbringer |

Well...what I do kind of depends on what Rhy decides to do. Whether she stays to guard the camp, or come with me, so I'll just wait and see what she wants to do before I decide on a course of action.

Tesia Stormbringer |

Of course, if I manage to snatch up three people and fly them to safety, it would probably be a totally movie worth moment....but if I flub it...it could be really bad too. Even after changing to my giant eagle form, I only have 2 like talons or claws or whatever to grab them with, which means, I'd have to snatch up the third one in my beak without crushing them. If I pull it off, it would probably be cool...but if it goes wrong...it could go really really wrong. No pressure though right? Then of course there's the whole thing of, I'd like to know why they're being chased. Sometimes good and bad is not always black and white.

Okay, so like I"m really sorry, but I'm getting a headache now too...so I'll try to get to this tomorrow, but we also have a charity fish dinner thing, to attend for FSB which will give both of us overtime.
Mr. Keith, the guy who actually asked Casey if she could convince me to go be a teller at his new branch in Sherwood, is like hosting or something like that. It's like an event that he's in charge of anyways, so I thought it would be a good chance to talk to him about future opportunities. *wink*
I don't know....I sleepy.

Sādhanā |

Sādhanā chuckles after the moment of surprise from Roshan suddenly appearing beside her, realizing that it was exactly what it must feel like when she did it. She waits for the archeologist to scout ahead following at a distance.

Tesia Stormbringer |

Wanting to get a better look at what was going on before acting, Tesia flies a little lower to get a better look at the situation. She wanted to know who, or what, was running from the large wolves.
Perception: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (13) + 30 = 43

Tesia Stormbringer |

Seeing that there were six dire wolves, she was alone, and it was goblins and not children, or anyone from the village, Tesia decides to go back to the camp. The goblins probably just wandered into the wolves territory. It seemed pretty natural to her, and not necessary for her to interfere.
Getting back to the camp, she lands and changes back into herself.

Tesia Stormbringer |

She looks thoughtful for a moment, "I don't think so...it was just six dire wolves chasing some goblins. I don't know why they were chasing the goblins, possibly the goblins were in the wolves territory, or were stupid enough to attack the wolves. I don't know....but I wasn't comfortable getting involved with six dire wolves and three goblins. Especially without backup, or knowing what the situation is. We should be careful though, wolves can be very territorial. Do you think I did the right thing? Oh...I guess we better be on the lookout for goblins too, since they seem to be in the area as well." She says with a sigh, unsure of whether or not she did the right thing. They were just animals though right? Chasing people and things outg of their territory is what they do.
She seems to think for another moment before getting a worried look on her face, "I don't know exactly which way they were headed, though my only concern would be for that other town that the old man was talking about. Like if they ended up there or not....I don't know love, maybe I'm overthinking things a little bit?"

Tesia Stormbringer |

Okay, so I know things in this place aren't always what they seem, and I'm not sure if it's just me being paranoid or not, but if 6 dire wolves really wanted to kill 3 little goblins, I don't think they'd have a problem catching them would they? Like, goblins shouldn't be able to outrun dire wolves....so, as unusual as it seems, the only other explanation I can come up with, even as unlikely as it might be, is that the wolves are working with the goblins, and "following" them, instead of "chasing" them to attack the next town? I don't know....that seems pretty far fetched to me. I guess I just discounted the situation because it was goblins they were "chasing", and not humans, or some other "intelligent" race. My perception, or first impression of the situation was, we don't need to worry about it cuz they're just goblins....but what if I'm wrong, and it isn't like it seems? I don't know.....maybe I am just way too paranoid. I don't know....now I'm wondering if I made an error in judgement. Wouldn't be the first time, probably won't be the last. Once self doubt starts creeping in, it's hard to know if anything you say or do is right anymore. I think I've lost most of my self confidence due to recent events.

Roshan Sharma |

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought the skeleton was buried at the top or something. I was probably tired when I was reading that. I'll check out the skeleton before popping into the top the tower.
Before going to the top of the tower, Roshan inspects the skeleton.
Perception: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 31

Roshan Sharma |

His curiosity piqued, Roshan takes the sealed scroll case from the hand of the skeleton. Pausing a moment, he takes a breath before breaking the seal on the scroll to see what was inside. There was no telling what he would find....if anything, but then again...it could be something.

GM Henry Fortuna |

The parchment is a letter, dated 8th of Sowings, 14 A.N.:
"To the governor of Palmore,
Our temple is currently under siege by the united orc tribes led by Ju'ok Kalokh. We have sent our women and children to you along with this courier. Please keep them safe. If you can spare any men at all, please do so with all haste. Our provisions will hold out for a few months but we are severely outnumbered and our ammunition is critically low.
We will send a roster of our peoples sent to you as soon as it is possible to do so, but currently they number at five-hundred and seventy-six persons. The commander, your son, has fallen in battle. I am grieved to send you such news without proper condolences. I hope to hear word from you soon.
Your in Faith,
Lt. Commander T. Sparrowhawke"

Roshan Sharma |

Roshan just stares at the parchment for a moment, trying to process what it had said. He looks from the parchment to the skeleton hand hed had pulled it from, Could it be? Taking the parchment to Sadhanna he holds it out to her, "Well, I'm pretty sure this means he wasn't a deserter. I just wonder..." Roshan's sentence trails off as he looks back at the rubble thed covers most of the skeleton.

Sādhanā |

"So they worked to get all the non-combatants to safety, then defended the temple with their dying breaths. Given that this place hasn't been burned to the ground, it looks like they were successful" Sādhanā says after reading over the letter.

Roshan Sharma |

Roshan nods as he rubs the back of his neck. While still looking at the skeleton, and seeming a little distracted he says, "I just...I wonder if that was the courier, or....I mean, they obviously weren't able to get the message to Palmore...I'm just not sure if..." He shakes his head to try and clear it. How much did he need to know? Handing Sadhana the canister that had kept the letter preserved for so long he heads back over to the tower with the buried skeleton in it. As he walks, he disappears for a moment and reappears in the tower. He didn't want tuo take up more of their time trying to excavate a skeleton, just to satisfy his own curiosity. His great grandfather wasn't a deserter, and he fought for what hed believed in. That's all that should matter. He looks out from the tower and tries to see if he could figure out where Palmore used to be, before looking around the tower.

Tesia Stormbringer |

After a few moments she shrugs, "What do you think? To me it just seemed like a regular pack of dire wolves, chasing some goblins off from their territory. Nothing about it seemed particularly sinister to me. Just animals being animals...." She kind of sighs, "It's hard to be sure of anything anymore. More often than not, things haven't been what they seem, and it's getting harder to find that line. Know what I mean love?" She says, sounding a little unsure of herself as her shoulders slump slightly. She hoped she wasn't making a mistake that would cost innocents their lives.

Rhadaya Stormbringer |

"I get it love, there doesn't seem to be any reason to put ourselves in danger over it...not when you consider what's at stake and what we're trying to accomplish." Rhadaya says softly as she rubs her wife's shoulders.
"The black and white, that's easy. It's the shades of grey where who's on the right side of things can change based on where you're standing at the moment.....that's hard. We can only follow what feels right in the moment, do the thing that makes you feel...the least...heavy..for doing it I guess."
