Gkirkhan roars as he brings the axe in a wide swinging arc trying to catch the ghost in the waist. Somehow, the apparition manages to twist out of the way.
Having had -quite- enough of being hit with that axe, Vertielle takes a few steps back and uses the room to read off her scroll of protection from evil.
Yep you each do a point. 2 more points off the Lopper.
And the Lopper takes his turn.

Tired of trying to stab with something so ungainly as an arrow, and especially not caring much for Rova's 'encouragement', Zhiden stowed the arrow and grabbed one of the vials of holy water that Wood gave him earlier. He threw the vial on the ground in front of the monster, hoping the splash would get him.

Wood tears himself from his spellbook to cast a wild acid spray that wildly misses the Lopper.

Blood runs in thick rivers down Gkirkhan's bare chest, most would have fainted or screamed in pain. Not Gkirkhan. The half-orc gave a quiet chuckle that quickly built into a barking laugh that echoed through out the prison.
"Oh YEZ! Dot iz how hyu FIGHT! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
The raging, apparently insane, fighter swings the Lopper's axe in a powerful, rage fueled swing that manages to connect in the side of the ghost's neck. After the apparition disappears, he drops the axe and stumbles over to a something that can support his weight as he tries to staunch the bleeding from his wound.
"Dem, dot hort."
And Gkirkhan's mighty swing dissipates the ghastly form of the long dead Lopper.
Wood smiles as another nasty creature is dispatched.
"Good shot Gkirkan. Are we ready to finish off the last one, or do we need to rest and replenish?"
Holding up his cursed spellbook.
"I still need to settle accounts with the one who used this."
I think we could all use a little healing push, but we should end this. Time for Vesorianna may be quite short.
"That might not be a bad idea, I've noticed you looking through it while we were fighting. I can't imagine how a book could be that interesting." He said it without malice, as an observation rather than an accusation. He handed the arrow back to Vertielle, adding "Next time it may be better to just shoot it, the weight is all wrong for stabbing."
He searched the room, wondering if he'd find anything interesting here.
You find that there is a large collection of stuff at the bottom of the pit the Lopper rose from. along wiht what must be the Lopper's bones is a decaptated skull and items the Lopper seems to have looted and stored here including:

a brokem MW heavy crossbow
a MW kongsword
a heavy mace
a carved stone
a ring of keys
Vertielle uses detect magic on the pile, and suggests that Wood use mage hand to retrieve most things.

These markings are quite interesting, and look here, where the metal's been warped by the enchantment. See the haft of this morningstar? Where the leather darkened? That's because it's organic. That might suggest...

The group gathers up all the treasure found and works their way back to Ravengro and Kendra's place for rest, recuperation, healing, and a little bit of loot distribution.
As you enter, Kendra comes out to greet you. "Oh, good. You're back. And safe."
She looks you over. "Mostly, I see."
You hear voices coming from the dining hall.
"I see you found them, Gkirkhan. Your mother will be relieved. She's -helping- in the kitchen. Why don't you go see her."
"The rest of you, please, tell me how it went."
"Oh, no."
Gkirkhan turns almost pale when it's mentioned that his mother is "helping" in the kitchen. Still, one can not call him a coward, since he goes into the kitchen anyway.
"What's wrong, Gkirkhan?"
I may go down to the tavern for dinner, yeah?
"What's to tell? We explored a haunted prison and got attacked by various sorts of horrors. She was almost strangled by a pair of hands," He said, pointing at Vertielle. "We also found a passage leading to the torture chamber, but we haven't explored it yet."
He let the comment about Gkirkhan's mother and her cooking slide, he figured that it would be explained soon enough, but he was starting to piece together that she might be known for her cooking, and not in a good way.
Wood had had Kendra's and Rova's cooking. Wood looks at Rova, "Rova, you are going in there aren't you? Wait, maybe it is a good time to copy some spells in the study with the door closed."
Wood looks for Kendra, "Would you like to study some magic?"

Now, who had a crossbow? Wood? Well, you ought to, so why don't you keep those bolts. I can use a new sword, and I think Ziper could use this... maybe the inherent magic will even shrink it for him.

Oh, but this axe is already his size... Well, you and Gkirkhan both need an enchanted weapon. Work it out over dinner, yeah? Now, I wonder what the necromatic effect on these potions has been... where [I]did[/] I put my lab rats?
Rova can certainly add some flavor to the cooking, and heads back to the kitchen to..assist.

"Anyun know a collecter of the macabre? Seems we got some prime exibits."
As everyone enjoys dinner, Kendra asks "So, what are your plans for tomorrow? What do you have left to do there? How many of the -what did you call them- the 'big 5' are left?"
"Only one Left, and he's the worst one."
"Well, don't you worry about it, little lady. My boy can handle it, for sure.
The -disturbingly- attractive orc woman reaches over and tugs on Gkirkhan's ear.
"You keep these ladies safe now, boy."
She looks Rova up and down, consideringly, and sighs. "Not bad. Kinda young, though. You stick with them and I'm sure Gkirky will get fed properly."
Wood speaks to Kendra, "I have copied the Splatterman's book. As much as it would pain me, to harm him I may have to tear out pieces of his book. But do not worry, if you need any of his spells, I have copied them to my own personal book. You may borrow it if you need to."
"Anyway, I think we will finish with the Big 5 tomorrow."
Wood bows to Gkirkan's mom. "Nice to meet you ma'am. Gkirkan is doing a great job. I see where he gets his better qualities."
"If need be, you can give me the book. I wouldn't have any problem with tearing it up." Zhiden shrugged, as if it was no big deal.
Vertielle is conspicuously unphased by an orcish presence despite being even half-elven.
Ha! Neither would Gkirkhan, I think.
She yawns.
I'll be turning in for the night, and finishing out my journal entries. Thank you for dinner, as always Kendra. I do so hope this business is resolved quickly so we can spend more time being intellectual and stuff.
She addresses Gkirkhan, Wake me if anything interesting happens around here.
Wood thinks for a while.
"Great idea Zhiden, here is the spellbook. You can rip out one page when we see him. If it works, try two more."
After a short moment of handling his spellbook, Wood hands the book to Zhiden.
The -disturbingly- attractive orc woman reaches over and tugs on Gkirkhan's ear.
"You keep these ladies safe now, boy."
"Yez ma'am."
Gkirkhan turns a brilliant shade of red, and keeps nervously looking over at Vertielle as the night progresses. His mother's comment about Rova made the half-orc shrink down in his chair with a simple "oh gods."
When Vertielle turns in for the night, Gkirkhan whispers back, "Hyu might vanna tell me how interestink. My mudder being around iz almost a guarantee dot somethink interestink iz goink to happen."

"Um sur' ya wen' through tha' spellbook, so ya should 'ave a good idea abou' wha' spells dis guy can toss. Waz a good defense agin his stuff? An' can ya cast it on alla us? Dis guy is likely a ghostie, not onea dem big dead mage thingies..Lick or sumthin'. Iffn th' fight goes like th' lopper one did, we need sum defense while me, Hyam, an' Zhiden saw on it like a cord o' firewood."
