The March of Kings

Game Master Daniel Rust

Beyond the last rugged frontier stretches the home of voracious monsters, capricious fey, wily natives, and vicious bandits. Can the PCs survive the Stolen Lands, bring their dangers to heel, and lay the foundations of a new kingdom?

“Adventurers wanted. Apply within.”

Hardly a dramatic start to the extraordinary rise to greatness of those men and women whose deeds we know so well. There’s seemed an ordinary tale. A simple task, beholden to local dignitaries in the lee of Brevic political unrest. Few were to realise the dramatic events that would unfold from the meeting that day, the 14th of Pharast 4713 AR, in the offices of Ioseph Sellemius, Lord Mayor of Restov.

A mission of exploration was commissioned. The Swordlords of Restov required a full survey of the broken lands to the south of their holdings in Rostland. For too long this Stolen Land had been left fallow, trade routes harried by bandits, savage humanoids and worse. This great wilderness was to be brought within the purview of the Aldori. What had been stolen in ages past would be reclaimed.

A number of groups left Restov in the days before our tale begins. Maegar Varn and his mercenary warriors had travelled south into the Nomen Heights, a land of great mountains bordering wild Iobaria. Baron Hanis Drelev had taken a military force from Rostland and marched toward the Hooktongue Slough. His task was to pacify the monsters that ambushed river trade from the south. Far to the west, the famous adventuring company the Iron Wraiths had been tasked with securing the Glenebon Uplands – a dangerous land bordering the Numerian barbarians and the fractious river kingdom of Pitax.

Our heroes were tasked with mapping the northern Greenbelt – a land of ancient forests and hill country. Rumours abounded that the boundaries between the First World and ours were thin in the Narlmarches, or that ancient spirits of long lost kingdoms still haunted the Kamelands. Fanciful stories to scare children. What they really found there was beyond what any could imagine.
