Ofcourse we will! If not to save innocent lives, it is to fulfill the Doctor's last will. The doctor apperently thought us capable enough to do this.

Kendra, do you know anything about a fire at a prison? Apperently it happened quite some time ago.

What knowledge is it to know more about The Way?

Scarab Sages

Kendra answer's Radha;
Yes, the fire at the prison..it was quite bad..but I don't remember much about it, I was too young when it happened...and most of the people don't talk about it much..some sort of superstition I think. But if you want to know more about it..I'm sure the Pro..I mean...my father's library, well..my library now I should say... could tell you more about it."

"And otherwise you could always try to the Town Hall. They might have records that can tell you more. Or the temple, they should have a library that might contain something that the books here are lacking...and there's always The Unfurling Scroll..which I guess you could call the local school, but it also doubles as the magic shop. That place also has a small but respectable library. I'm not sure if they would let you use any of those though..but you are more then welcome to look around here. Or you can try to find someone who's willing to talk to you about thing..if you can convince them to do so.."

If you want to remember something yourself..that would be Knowledge (arcane or history - pick one, not both..but each of you can pick which one you want) - which can only be done once, you either know something or you don't.

If you want to do research on them, you have an entire town at your disposal. As well as a lot of books in the mansion you are currently staying. Which will take time, going through dozens of books takes hours instead of a few seconds to remember something. There are enough books to count as a library so you can get a DC result higher then 10. Also since the Professor did research on this specific topic you'd get a +2 on your roll for information on the Whispering Way if you use the library in the mansion if you are trained in the skill you are using

One roll; you can look at the spoiler up to the result you get

The Way;

Knowledge (Arcana or History DC 10) - The Whispering Way:
The Whispering Way is a sinister organization of necromancers that has been active in the Inner Sea region for thousands of years.

Same check but you beat a DC 15 and count as being trained in the skill so you can get higher then a 10; for example bardic knowledge:
Agents of the Whispering Way often seek alliances with undead creatures, or are themselves undead. The Whispering Way’s most notorious member was Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant, although the society itself has existed much longer than even that mighty necromancer.

Same check, but you beat a DC 20, etc:
The Whispering Way itself is a series of philosophies that can only be transferred via whispers—the philosophies are never written or spoken of loudly, making the exact goals and nature of the secretive philosophy difficult for outsiders to learn much about

DC 25+:
Exact details on the society are difficult to discern, but chief among the Whispering Way’s goals are discovering formulae for creating liches and engineering the release of the Whispering Tyrant. Agents often travel to remote sites or areas plagued by notorious haunts or undead menaces to perform field research or even to capture unique monsters. Their symbol is a gagged skull, and those who learn too many of the Way’s secrets are often murdered, and their mouths mutilated to prevent their bodies from divulging secrets via speak with dead.

*************************************************************
The Fire / Harrowstone;
The mansion library can once again be used and you can get a DC higher then 10 if you use it, but no bonus on the subject, or you can try to remember something about the fire yourself

Knowledge (History or Local) DC 10 - The fire:
Harrowstone is a ruined prison—partially destroyed by a fire in 4661, the building has stood vacant ever since. The locals suspect that it’s haunted, and don’t enjoy speaking of the place.

DC 15:
Harrowstone was built in 4594. Ravengro was founded at the same time as a place where guards and their families could live and that would produce food and other supplies used by the prison. The fire that killed all of the prisoners and most of the guards destroyed a large portion of the prison’s underground eastern wing, but left most of the stone structure above relatively intact.
The prison’s warden perished in the fire, along with his wife, although no one knows why she was in the prison when the fire occurred. A statue commemorating the warden and the guards who lost their lives was built in the months after the tragedy—that statue still stands on the riverbank just outside of town.

DC 20:
Most of the hardened criminals sent to Harrowstone spent only a few months imprisoned, for it was here that most of Ustalav’s executions during that era were carried out. The fire that caused the tragedy was, in fact, a blessing in disguise, for the prisoners had rioted and gained control of the prison’s dungeons immediately prior to the conflagration. It was only through the selfsacrifice of Warden Hawkran and 23 of his guards that the prisoners were prevented from escaping—the guards gave their lives to save the town of Ravengro.

Outside the rain keeps falling and you notice that when you look outside it's starting to get dark, the weather outside isn't a very welcoming sight to enter.

Inside it's nice and cosy and it might even be nicer if you light a fire in the hearth and relax in front of it with a beverage of your choice and overthink the day before turning in for the night

Let me know if you want to do something today, otherwise I'll do the intermission/night time story time and we'll start with the next day.

Sorry for my lack of posting - been busy. will try to do better

knowledge history: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Whispering way.. whispering way.. I'm sure I've heard that name before, but I can't seem to recall where.. Perhaps I can find something in van Richten's library

"I'm sure I heard something about a fire at the prison on one of my previous visits, young lady. Are you looking for anything in particular?"

Razagal frowns slightly as his gaze passes over the journal, then turns to Kendra and asks:

"Kendra, I'm sorry to burden you so soon after your father's demise, but can you please tell us what has happened in the last weeks before his death? Do you know what the encircled entries in his diary might be? From what I overheard I get the feeling his death was no accident. And if so, that might mean you are in danger too.
The more you can tell us about the events leading up to his death, the better our chances of protecting you."

Afterwards, Raz will start browsing through the library to search for more information on the Whispering Way and Harrowstone. If he happens to come across any other interesting tomes, especially ones that might be.. misplacable, please let me know :)

What did he get himself into?

Radha thinks hard on the Ways and about Harrowstone, but only knows some basic stuff Dr. Van Richthoven mentioned in his letters.

Kn. History: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 (untrained)
Kn. History: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 (untrained)

Ik denk steeds dat het Hardstone is i.p.v. Harrowstone :)

Why don't you sit here, while I'll make you a cup of tea.
Radha taps her hand, as she leads Kendra to the closest chair. She tries to sense how she took the revelation of Rudy being her dad.

sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

After Kendra sits, she walks towards where the kitchen is. But when she's out of sight she starts to check if all the doors / windows are closed propperly. After that, she makes the tea she promised.

First you hear a close friend is your father and then that a bunch of necromancers is after you? I can't imagine how I would feel in Kendra's place. But I'll make sure she'll be save, no matter what. That's the least I can do for that kind old man...

Scarab Sages

Limited time, I'll try to post more tomorrow but;

Radha senses that Kendra is both relieved and sad that the professor was her father. Which makes sense..she was already sad that he was dead and she liked him. so at least her dad was someone she liked...and maybe, deep down she always thought of him as a father figure already.

@Razagal; feel free to roll another 2 checks using the library - one for each subject.

Scarab Sages

At Razagal's words Kendra seems shocked

" ..you think I could be in danger? But I'm just ..I was just the caretaker. I don't know anything about fighting the creatures of the dark. That was the Pro..I mean my father expertise."

"My..father, it still feels odd to call him that. He was very private about his undertakings. I think he didn't want me involved, keep me away from danger. I do know he went to the cemetery here in town a while back, and he seemed pretty pleased when he returned..but I don't know much more then that."

After that she breaks out in sobs as she relives both the fact that the Professor is dead as well as her loosing her father and excuses herself to retreat to a more private area to be alone with her grief.

Scarab Sages

I'll assume that Radha and Tom retire for the night

As you get ready for the night in your assigned room(s) and get into bed and let your head rest on your pillow you quickly fall asleep while you go through the events of the day in your head. After an hour you start to toss and turn and

Radha:
You are swimming in a lovely crystal clear lake surrounded on all sides by trees as you feel something brush up against one of your legs. As you look down to see what it was you don’t see anything and as you raise your head back up you notice that you can hardly see any of the trees anymore due to a thick fog that appears unnaturally fast. Then you feel something on your leg again and before you even have time to look what it is you feel you are being pulled down. All around you grey tentacles which look to be made out of solid fog appear, breaking through the water surface and wrapping themselves around you, covering your head and leaving a strange sticky sensation to your upper lip and wrapping around your whole body as they start to squeeze the air and life out of you as you are being pulled to the bottom of the lake. As you look up you can see your last remaining breath rise through the water in a slow stream of bubbles before everything goes black…..

Tom:
You are visiting the graveyard and locate the grave of Professor Von Richten to pay your last respects as the earth of the grave in front of you starts to move, as if something..or someone is trying to dig it’s up out of it. Before you can react you hear a noise behind you and as you raise your head to look you see dozens and dozens of skeletons emerge from a thick grey mist all around you conveying on your location. Then you feel a hand touch one of your ankles and starting to pull you down as another skeleton emerges, this one from directly underneath you. Within a seconds you are covered in skeletons that try to push you into the dirt of the grave and as you slowly loose your breath everything turns black…….

You suddenly hear a crashing sound and as you wake up covered in sweat you can see that one of the windows of your room has been thrown open by a sudden burst of wind and is now slamming back and forth. You can just make out the last remnants of some grey fog dissipate from inside your room as you get up in a daze to close the window once more and put the latch back up. As you stumble back to bed still in a daze you fall back into a deep slumber wondering why you didn't see anything outside of your window other then a grey mist so thick that you could almost scoop some of it up in your hands......

The next day you wake up, still drenched in sweat and in Radha's case..she now sprouts a nice smoke grey handle bar moustache

Joost:
Die op dit moment nog niks doet, maar hier hadden we het al over gehad..soooo, you know what's to come

Scarab Sages

Razigal goes into the library and is overwhelmed by the amount of books present as well as by the methodically kept ledger and feels that although there will sure be a book or 2..or a dozen that's going to be worth something it would surely be seen missing since it will leave a visible gap. So at least for the next month or so, it doesn't feel like it's worth to steal anything from here.

After going through hours and hours worth of books he falls asleep on top of one of them

More to follow, ik ga nu even van het weer genieten

Razagal is overwhelmed by the sheer amount of books and knowledge collected by the professor. He roams the library, reading tidbits at random instead of searching methodically.. as a result, he doesn't find any new information on the Whispering way or Harrowstone.

He keeps on searching, determined to find something worthwhile but eventually he succumbs to sleep and wakes up in the dark, slumped onto one of the books he was perusing. The candle in the lantern has burned down completely and everything is dark outside, so he must have been asleep for hours.

i wonder what woke me up?

He listens carefully for any kind of disturbance, other than the rumbling of his tummy.

Should I just get out of here and leave all this weirdness around?

He takes another piece of hard cheese and looks at Kendra who offers him a cup of tea.

No! I own it to the professor to at least look into this.

When the others come down he sizes them up and tries to think on the next steps. He waits till everyone takes some breakfast and then asks a question:

There is definitely something going on here. What do you all think?Maybe we should try to get some more information in the town hall and local library?

Razagal carefully studies the others sitting at the breakfast table. He yawns, making a show of rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"Well, I've been poring over the manuscripts in the professor's library all day yesterday.. I did find some tidbits of information, but nothing that seemed directly useful. Then again, I haven't begun to scratch the surface of the wealth of knowledge hidden in that room.

I feel it would be best if we all shared the information we have, and perhaps tell some more about yourselves so we can come up with a battle plan."

He pauses to cut off a slice of cheese onto his bread, then addresses Kendra as a thought strikes him:
"Kendra, you know the village well. You have lived here pretty much all your life I think. When i arrived here yesterday it felt like there was an.. undertone of hostility. People were almost running to get to their houses, I didn't see any sign of the market. Very different from my previous visits here. Is this a recent change? And do you have any idea what could have set it off?"

He takes a bite of the bread before he continues:
"I've been thinking. The professor was a man of action, not just knowledge. His range of armaments was impressive. Could we borrow some items from his armory, so we can better protect you?"

He continues nibbling on some fruits, offhandedly mentioning:
"Oh, and I'd love to hear more about your 'father', Petro Lorrimer."

The professor’s will does not mention his journal—it is not one of the dangerous tomes he wants delivered to Lepidstadt. The majority of the entries are relatively bland, accounting for day-to-day activities in a small town. The professor has circled several entries in the book with red ink though. The final entry, dated 17 days ago, was written on the same day the Professor’s body was found.

@Razagal; this journal I assume?

Scarab Sages

Nah, if it's reasonable to ask you don't have to roll..and if I want a roll anyways I'll just ask for one ;)

At Razagal's questions Kendra answers;

"The mood of the town always has been a bit...understated,I've bee told ever since the fire. But there used to be children laughing and playing in the streets..but since the Professors ..I mean ..Dads dead parents are keeping the children inside their home a lot more..people don't go outside if they don't have too."

Kendra reminiscens about the famous stories about the Professor, the time he killed the vampire that stole the child out of it's mothers crib with a stake through it's heart while jumping down on him and landing in the river of running water beneath it's tower window. The time he killed a gang of werewolf bandits with nothing but his wits and a silver coin. That time he killed a demon that possessed a woman by covering her in holy water....or maybe in burning oil...it was one or the other...the demon was vanquished either way..if the woman was saved....that part is difficult to remember.

As Razagal mentions the armory Kendra squints her eyes as if thinking real hard

"Now that you mention it...he used to have gear suited for exploration..and even combat..but I haven't seen any of that lately. I have no idea what happend to it."

"Strange dreams? Well, I did have a dream but it was actually quite pleasant. What did you dream about?"

Razagal studies Radha carefully and asks:
"Something's different about you but I can't put my finger on it. Why the giant scarf? I thought the temperature inside is quite pleasant.

He raises an eyebrow quizzically, before returning to his breakfast.

"Anyway, we were just discussing our plans for today - I think it would be good if we all got to know each other a bit better, seeing how we're working together for the next couple of months.. As Radha cuts away her new moustache it cuts away easily enough but before the grey hairs hit the floor they disappear into wisps of smoke as they drift down.

Then as a sigh of relieve escapes from Radha's lips she can see the hair regrow almost as fast as she's cutting them away. As she frantically starts to cut faster and faster and her head shakes left and right the hairs almost seem to twitch on their own then she ends up cutting herself as she cuts to close to the skin and a drop of blood appears on her skin which is quickly absorbed by her moustache which for a fraction of a second turns a shade of pink before those hairs also are cut off and go *POOF* before growing back in their greyish smoke color

I'm Radha btw, Radha Vexratchett. The professor and I shared ideas for new weapon designs, at least that was our excuse. We started a letter correspondence a couple of years ago after Tom here heard about my special "guhns". And it became the basis for our friendship, although quite long distance. Sadly we never got to meet.

But about what we need to do, I agree that the library is good idea. Although Im not that book savy. Kendra, who would know the most about the prison or fire?

Scarab Sages

Kendra answers Radha "I think the council would be the most knowledgeable about those subjects. But to be honest, I don't think they would be willing to share that kind of information. And to be absolutely frank..I highly doubt they would be willing to even talk to outsides like your yourselves. You'd have to be very convincing to even get to talk to one of the council members to talk that..let alone get one of them to allow you access to the library. Unless you build a lot of goodwill within the community I don't favor your chances"

You could try a very high diplomacy check, or you can try to integrate yourselves into the community and build trust over time and hope it will be easier

"You might just be better off by exploring the prison on your own if you want answers."

"Well, we'll need answers one way or another. And the village seems just as good a place to fin them as any.
I'd be happier if we'd have some form of protection against this necromancy cult but in the end it didn't do the professor much good either."

"As for the prison.... I've only heard some rumors but what I heard was pretty disturbing.
They say that at sundown you can hear the ghost of the warden’s wife wailing and sobbing from somewhere within the ruins. She haunts the prison now, forever mourning her husband and attempting to frighten anyone who intrudes on the prison."

"And on the western side of the prison, Harrowstone’s executioner still guards the execution balcony. On some nights, his scythe can be seen patrolling the balcony on its own as if carried by an invisible spirit."

"Now, these are all just rumors, but rumors have a nasty tendency to have a grain of truth.
You have quite an impressive firearm there madam Radha, but I am just a traveling botanist and salesman. I am not a fighter like Tom and you seem to be. So I'd rather not go anywhere near the prison without additional protection."

Razagal stands up and dons his hat and coat.

"I will head to the village and see if I can get some more information. Would you like to join me?"

He then turns to Kendra and asks:
"I am sorry to ask for this, but would you be able to spare some gold for supplies and information? Buying rounds in the taverns does wonders for peoples' willingness to talk. And we need to know more about this threat if we are to protect you from a fate similar to or even worse than your father's."

Pfff, I understand one might love someone a lot. But to become such a nuisance that you even start to haunt people?! Some women... Radha mumbles through scarf while rolling her eyes.

But let's see what the people have to say, so we know what were facing if we encounter them while finding out what the proffesor was up to. Radha says while taking a last gulp of the coffee en hanging her gun over her shoulder.

While walking out of she also checks on Phillip, the goat.

Scarab Sages

At Razagals question for money Kendra looks a bit taken a back

"I'm sorry I don't have much money..I think that letting you stay here with free food and lodging is generous enough as it is. Not to mention the promise of a hefty reward if you deliver the books in a month time. It's not that I don't want to give you more money..but I don't have more cash then what I need to buy food on a daily basis to get more I would have to start selling of things and it would take time to find anyone interested enough to buy anything."

The reward divided per person for the book delivery is still worth a 1-5 year(s) salary for most people depending on the type of work they do

"If you really need some spending money right now you can always try to find some work yourselves while you are here, or maybe there is someone who would be willing"

As Radha checks in on Phillip she notices that the animal seems a bit spooked but then jumps around happily to see Radha. Then as Radha comes closer the goat seems to sense something isn't quite right and jumps back a few times before cautiously approaching once more and running back before returning to sniffle Radha..this goes on for a few times before Phillip's behavior is back to "normal"

So your all going into town? Just general rumor gathering or does anyone have a specific idea they want to work at?

"No problem, I understand. The food and lodging you provide is definitely appreciated. I just thought it might help us gather information, but no doubt we can find some chores in the village that we can do."

He tips his hat and walks outside to check and feed his mules while waiting for the others to join him.

When they arrive, he says:
"I'd like to visit the cemetery first and have a word with father Grimburrow - Perhaps somebody there can recall something about the professor's previous visit that Kendra spoke of yesterday."

General rumor gathering for me, still looking for armaments and money-making options too. Not doing my wonderdoctor routine as the villagers have seen what I look like at the funeral

As Radha tries to calm Phillip down, red flushes her cheeks in shame. She tries to keep the scarf in front of her face as she handles Phillip, which she seems to manage for the moment.

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

As they walk towards the residence of father Grimburrow, Radha pays more attention to town, she previously rushed through to arrive at the funeral in time. Partly to see what's the fuss, partly to see the things the professor described so affectionately in his letters.

As Radha pays attention to the town she notices that there seems a large number of people crossing the street as you make your way to town and some people are guiding small children inside as they see you approach. The people that remain outside seem to look at you with feelings of not liking you and you can make out pieces of whispered conversation between them as you strain your ears..you can't make out all of it it, but it seems to involve the words strangers, outsiders and never trust a lot.

As Razagal looks around town for armaments he eventually strikes up a conversation with one of the braver teenagers who is willing to talk to you. You get the slight impression that this might have been down on a dare by some of his friends who are standing further away and are pointing in your general direction a bunch of times.

"My nana says that Harrowstone’s executioner still guards the execution balcony on the western side of the prison, and that on some nights, his scythe can be seen patrolling the balcony on its own, as if carried by an invisible spirit."

He then runs of towards his friends and they disapear around a corner before you can ask more questions.

You eventually make it to the center of town where most of the shops are located.

A simple wooden gazebo at the center of a grassy circular plaza serves as the hub for Ravengro. A

There is a pole with a notice board B which is empty right now, but laying next to it is an old dog and as you look at it some old lady walks past and feeds the dog a piece of sausage before she hurriedly scuttles away as she sees you looking in her direction. The dog just raises his head after looking at you and then continues his nap.

The general store F sells all kind of goods especially tools and everyday items such as pots and pans. At the back of the store in a display case is a suit of masterwork full plate which when inquired about you are told that it's an inheritance of the owners wife's mother and is used as a sort of good luck charm and it couldn't possibly be sold

Sense motive DC 15:
...well, not to untrustworthy strangers anyways You either need to gain the trust of the town or make a pretty high (for example diplomacy)check to convince him to sell it

There is also the smithy run by an ancient dwarf who introduces herself as Jorfa who mostly makes tools for farmers and fisherfolk,
she often forges weapons and armor as well. She doesn't have any right now, other then some multipurpose items such as axes and heavy hammers, but she could make some if you'd order a weapon from her. She is even good enough to put in some extra effort and good materials if you'd be willing to pay a premium price for it (e.a Masterwork quality)

Then there is the Outward Inn K, a pawnshop called the Silk Purse - which is currently closed, but looking in through the window you can see a guard on duty J.
There's also the Unfurling Scroll L which is also currently closed, but which serves a dual purpose as a school and magic shop. Looking inside you can make out that this would be a good place to buy almost any low level level 1 scroll and seeing that there is even a wooden stick on a display stand..maybe a wand or 2.

And the highlight of the town's culinary expertise; The Laughing Demon - the local tavern. This tavern does its best to live up to it's name, down to the menu.
Zokar, the owner takes pains to come up with humorous names for
his drinks and meals, with offerings like vampire steaks (cuts of beef skewered on thick wooden spikes), wolf balls (lamb meatballs served on plates painted to look like the face of the full moon), corpse chowder (a thick stew with red broth and chunks of meat), and liquid ghosts (a sweet pale ale that glows faintly with a greenish tint).

After doing some window shopping you move towards the temple E

This temple is devoted to Pharasma, the Lady of Graves.
Ravengro’s only religious structure, the temple is also the town’s most elaborate building. Its eastern facade displays an intricate stained-glass mural depicting a stern Pharasma judging some nobel. Father Grimburrow is officially in charge of the temple, but the day-to-day tending of the flock and maintenance of the temple and the Restlands are largely seen to by a dozen acolytes.

They also sell minor magic items (potions of cure light wounds, potions of lesser restoration, and holy water).

Father Grimburrow currently isn't present, but you can make an appointment if you'd want.

As you walk back outside you notice that the old dog has moved from below the pole to next to the gazebo where he watches a bunch of children play and there's a note on the pole now.

It mentions that the Inn is looking for people to perform in the evening(s) for entertainment

Just so you can make some money if you want;Standard Perform check to make some money

diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 Don't worry, you can trust me!

In the temple Raz strikes up a conversation with one of the acolytes, trying to get to know a bit more about Pharasma and her church knowledge religion: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11.
He tries to make him feel important and at ease, enticing him to tell some more about father Grimburrow, preferably juicy stories.
bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 How interesting! You must be really smart to know all that at such a young age!
Before he leaves Raz ask for an appointment with father Grimburrow, whenever is convenient for him.

As he passes the pole on his way back, he reads the notice with interest. He makes sure to feed some scraps of meat to the dog (and to be seen doing it) and tells a few jokes to the children playing in the gazebo, before he strides confidently towards the inn.

Charm offensive complete. I figured I'd wait for the rest to post before continuing into the inn?

As Raz strikes up a conversation he learns a bit about the basic tendens of the Church and refreshes what he already vaguely knew from having heard about it a long time ago.

Knowledge on Pharasma (spoilered for length):

"The Lady of Graves", ( fah-RAZ-mah) is the goddess who shepherds Golarion's recently-departed souls to their final reward. Upon death, souls migrate to Pharasma's Boneyard in the Outer Sphere, which sits atop an impossibly tall spire that pierces the Astral Plane. Pharasma makes no decision on whether a death is just or not; she views all with a cold and uncaring attitude, and decides on which of the Outer Planes a soul will spend eternity. Pharasma is also the goddess of birth and prophecy: from the moment a creature is born, she sees what its ultimate fate will be, but reserves final judgement until that soul finally stands before her. As the goddess of death and Birth, she abhors the undead and considers them a perversion.

Pharasma is most often depicted as an ashen-skinned female humanoid with white eyes. She wears a dark, hooded, robe-like dress and holds an hourglass filled with red sand.

Pharasma is alternatively known as the mad prophet, the reaper of the dead, or the midwife, depending on her current role. Her followers dress in black for her ceremonies, their clothes adorned with silver, and tiny vials of holy water. Pharasma's pleasure is often signified through scarabs, beetles and whippoorwills. Black roses are thought by her followers to bring good luck, most especially if the rose bears no thorns. Her displeasure is signified by bleeding from beneath the fingernails, an unexplained taste of rich soil, the discovery of a dead whippoorwill, the feeling that something important has been forgotten, or cold chills down the spine.

Many of Pharasma's worshipers are those closely aligned with either burgeoning life or terminating death. These include midwives, grave diggers, and morticians.

Well, it's not proper to talk about..but after some goading you manage the young priest you are talking to to admit that Father Grimburrow is a bit of an old grumpy man.

And makes an appointment to talk to Father Grimburrow. He should be available the next day, first thing in the morning.

As Razagal feeds the dog, Tom notices that some of the people have a glimmer of a smile on their face and he is even able to hear a part of a conversation one woman tells her husband ....If he feeds the dog, he can't be all bad.... at which the man answers ..and he did talk down those angry people at the Professors visitors before things turned ugly.. and as they walk further he is just barely able to make out something about "..I heard he said some nice things during the funeral..."

Using your diplomacy roll for gaining trust people seems to react positiever towards you, just seeing a friendly smile is nice but it's only the the first step on a long way to gain their trust - it did something, just not enough for the whole town to trust you..but it's a good start to build on

As Tom does a tour around the church he quickly discovers that what he thought might have been a secondary graveyard turns out to be just one more vegetable garden

(The graveyard where Von Richten is buried is a short walk away from town. Thanks to the Pharasmin church’s influence in town, Ravengro’s graveyard is large and well tended. It's size alone would have filled up a rather large part of town)

Tom doesn't remember anything religious directly his current mindset but he does remember that one class of sunday school her once attended when he was much smaller Everything in the spoiler on Pharasma in the post above this as well that tradition dictates that whenever one passes by (or through) the Restlands (=what the graveyard is called), one must always first draw a spiral on her heart as a sign of respect. The sign wards against the risk that the traveler’s passage will disturb the sleep of the departed.

Does Raz also know about the spiral?

Raz blinks as he spots a glimpse of the woman's beard peeking out from under her shawl, and his thoughts return to this morning's breakfast, recollection dawning on him:
A bearded lady? Hmm, perhaps our gnome companion is not who (s)he claims to be.. Interesting.. Oh well, It will have to wait until later. Right now I'd better concentrate on gaining the trust of these peasants.

We need to find out more about father Grimburrow. As a priest of Pharasma he can be a valuable ally and source of knowledge on those necromancers. Their practices go against all that Pharasma stands for.

As he exits the church he passes a young woman. He smiles courteously and doffs his hat as he moves out of the way so she can pass unhindered. As he looks at her he is reminded of his guise of the previous day and muses:
I wonder if Jack is still pining for the lovely Julia.. I'd better stay away from his house for now, just to be sure. Even though I did have fun.

Razagal realizes he's been smirking slightly at that last thought. He quickly gets his act together again as he stops at the gazebo to look around for any sign of Kendra's other guests:
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 Now where have those Tom and Radha characters gone off to? They were here just now..

Tom strolls back towards Razagal, when he finds nothing but a vegetable garden.

Hey, did you hear anything from the villagers? You seemed to be doing a good job at gaining their trust. Glad you are here to talk to them, I never was good with people.

Tom then ponders on what to do next.

Maybe the library is best to gather more information.

So what next Raza? Should we check out the library to find out more on the history of this town or the order we are investigating?

Razagal quirks his eyebrow as Tom adresses him.
Raza!?

He strokes his chin in thought and says:
"We can spend countless hours poring over the books in the professor's library. I didn't really think you were the bookish type though. Me, I'd rather check out the inn first. The sign said they were looking for entertainment, perhaps we can make some money as well as gain trust and information in the tavern."

"Where did you go? Last I saw you you were with me when we visited the temple. Did you find anything interesting? And where is your Gnome friend?"

"I managed to get an appointment with father Grimburrow tomorrow morning; I reckon the church of Pharasma can be a valuable ally for us, considering their stance on the undead. If we can find out more about Grimburrow and how we can gain his trust or support, that would be very welcome."

Razagal moves closer to Tom and whispers:
"You strike me as a hunter.. what is your feeling about this village and the people? Are they hiding something? Any signs of odd .. fortifications or weaponry? I am a peaceful man, I do not know much of the art of war.. but something feels off about this place."

" I wandered around town a bit, reminiscing about the Professor. I must say I see why the professor liked this town. Although his letters made things look a little more colourful than they are. Did you hear anything interesting? I'm afraid I haven't found much on my own. People are really distrusting here. So sad..."

After hearing Razagal's statements, she shrugs. "I'd rather prepare for a visit to the old jail. But I guess seeing the inn won't hurt. What kind of instrument do you play? Do you know that funny song about the gnome with the beer on top of his head? That one always makes me laugh! The Locals probably would appreciate that one, I'd say."
