This is an announcement for those of you who are hankering to get a little rp in without too much conflict. I will be creating a campaign thread which runs on the pathfinder ruleset based in Absolom.
The Hookscratch Inn.
I merely will create the setting, run the bartender from time to time and create events, but you will for the most part be expected to police yourselves. Almost any PC can enter here, but there are a couple of rules:
1.Don't burn down the inn.
2.Obey the forum rules.
3.If you decide to go on an adventure outside the inn with friends, exit the inn in character and put the rest in a link to a different page or do it in spoilers.
Anyone who wishes to "apply" to have a character who wishes to work in the tavern may post here.
I need:
A bouncer
A bard
2 Barmaids/waiters
A maid
A chef.
To apply, you just have to ask.
If I don't have any takers, that's okay.

This sounds great, and I'm very interested in being your bouncer. I'm going to make a big stupid brawler to help keep things civil.
Go ahead and go with a 25 point buy, then. The brawler needs to be sturdy. :) Up to Level 10.
And that's if you even need parameters. Otherwise, go crazy within reason.| CampinCarl9127 |
Haha the parameters are welcome, helps to make a framework for the character.
Level 10? Oh my, he's going to be pretty strong. Are you expecting people of this level to be in the Inn or am I that level just to completely neutralize any low-level threats?
Also, what's my wealth? Average for level 10?

I have no way of knowing the level of the people coming into the inn, but I do need a character capable of dealing with low-level threats, yes.
As for treasure, I would say average for level 10 is the correct amount..Though he also gets a free battle-trained mount (horse or camel).

Cyreille is interested in being a barmaid. She would be a bard, but my ability to create decent rhymes is pretty much nonexistent, so barmaid it is.
Alright... You're looking at a 20 point buy, level 1. You can earn xp for yourself by going on SOLO ADVENTAURRRRS and roleplaying to add that up. The same goes for any other employee, but it will be the most obvious for you.
You start out with this trait as an added bonus, though.| JuanAdriel |
So, if I understood well, this is a Inn where any character can come, from any campaign, make use of the services offered, meet other characters, and leave it afer paying whatever you owe??
So, if Sir Gregor the Cavalier, and his 3 companions, Luna the kitsune rogue, Adrian the magician and Gail the Priest go on a trip, and they decide to go to an inn, they can come here instead of a inn on their own campaign?

Once it is ready, yes. :3
This has the benefit of allowing you to truly take advantage of flextime without cluttering up your own thread.| The Elusive Trout |
Cyreille wonders how these solo adventures would work?
There are a couple of kinds:
Bounties.Resource Gathering.
Crafting.
Adventuring Leave.
All of them depend on you writing out the adventure after you make a series of checks.
A bounty, for example, would require you to make 5 attack rolls versus a specific DC vs attack rolls from said creature against you.
Resource gathering is either survival, profession, craft, or percentile-dice based.
Crafting is exactly what it sounds like.
Adventuring leave is only via out-of-group invitations (ie. other games, if they spring up and accept our swinging door) or self-written exploits.

What would be the build/job requirements of a bard?
20-point-buy level 5 with 5 extra skill points to devote to an extra perform skill.
:@ You would be the second bard vying for the position, but it's an open thread anyway.>w< So you could perform if ya wanted even if you're not the "in-house" bard.

Cyrielle's character sheet is up, and her personality and appearance have rough drafts. I'll need to think on a backstory that works for her, but she's technically capable of being a barmaid now.
Exxxxcellent. Everything going according to plan.
You can have worked at the inn for a couple of years or be as new as your third day on the job.

I would LOVE to return to Absalom and stay at your inn, once my current family issues in Irrisen are sorted out.
(I'm not a job person. But I have treasure with which I can pay for my stay. Most of it is only slightly burned. Plus, letting me stay at your inn is the least you can do after swallowing our DM.)

Well, he used a copying jutsu so I only swallowed a text-based copy of him, but fiiiiine. >w<

I recently created a concept for the Raven. It kinda failed, because Raven's don't have arms and don't usually carry equipment around, and I absolutely didn't want that, but in Pathfinder, not carrying equipment is a bad really, really bad thing. But in this campaign it just might work.
I wonder whether I might use this concept play the tavern mascot. If there is a bust of Pallas Iomedae above the chamber door.
I don't wanna bore you with all the details now, but in rule terms it's a:
CG tiny male magical beast (intelligent raven) oracle.
He has a curse of tongues. Under stress he can only say "nevermore" and he has a mystery of time. He's actually a good guy, the story depicted in Poe's poem was really just a big misunderstanding. He wanted to cheer the old man up.
