Loved Osoro...
Sorry to see you back out Korak

I do not envy Yuugasa; there are some very good concepts all around

Indeed! Good luck everyone!

And sorry to see you go Korak. Good luck in your future adventures!

how many entrants were there? still really interested, I like politics games, ran a WW2 game that started in 1936. Japan ended up siding with united states since they shared their oil with them and were "okay" with us invading china, and stuff like that.

I have thought about this for a while, and I believe I would do a poor job of keeping up with this. It is basically a question of time. So, backing out my entry of Kyria. Have an awesome time with this game!

Good luck, one and all!

Everything looking good, I'll be accepting submissions till the end of the day then posting my choices tomorrow.

Yep, they're fine.

Right, we'll be here at midnight!

oh fine, we'll be patient.

What's the current list of applicants again? I mean quite a few have backed away, so I'm wondering if there even is over ten applicants remaining.

Sorry, I was trying to help with that and then saw something shiny and got distracted...

So 18 concepts, 13 players...

And the GM will be taking 10 concepts each with a different player

At least if I got all that right

Thanks!

Interesting data here...

18 total

I wonder if there is something instinctual in players' minds to default to neutral and good alignments.

Well, some of those numbers are going to be skewed by folks 'hedging their bets' like I did. I made two CN deities, so even if I get in as a player *knock on wood* that means (Unless someone introduces one really fast) the most we'll have is two CNs

But I know that while Evil can have some rich RP opportunities, it can also be something we aren't into for a long term game (I'm playing a WotW game and part of me wouldn't mind a TPK some days ;) ) imo, of course.

We also lost one our only LE when our lady of conquest withdrew.

Still, like the GM said, no worries. She'll have the other ten gods be NPCs of any missing niches. I myself look forward to annoying Bane or Loviatar ;)

Scarab Sages

Whenever our game group plays games with strategic elements (eg. Risk, Diplomacy) I always end up being "the bad guy" who everyone wants to destroy and no one trusts. Maybe it's because I somehow always have a strong early game and my friends get scared that I might win...

This'll be a diplomatic game, so I thought Evil would be more interesting to play. Apparently I'm in the minority, and maybe it's better this way.

As I notice there are several gods with big cat themes, I'm gonna make an alternate, just in case. My first preference is Osoro, but if one of other big cat gods makes it in and doesn't want to share, I'm willing to work around that.

Kemzu
LE Evil Goddess of Trees, Sunlight, Murder and Jealousy
Sundrinker, Darkflower, Foresthaunt
Symbol: Cypress tree with two boughs
Favored Weapon: Great Axe
Domains: Law, Evil, Plant, Destruction, Sun

Kemzu was once a tree nymph who had her tree threatened by other quicker-growing plants blocking her reach into the sun. Kemzu razed the other plants near her and sought out more and more to protect what she has. Kemzu ruled over her forest and then a nation and then a world all to protect her single tree. When the star that her planet orbited was about to go supernova, she performed dark rituals to swallow the sun and turned herself into a Goddess.

Protect what is yours. All of Kemzu's creed can be boiled down into that. Kemzu gladly will agree to mutual protection treaties with other gods as long as her domain is unperturbed. Anything that threatens her possession can experience her wrath. Kemzu is meticulous and exacting, knowing every single thing that lies within her forest. She never gives gifts, nor favors. Spells granted to her followers are merely how she shows her possession of them. Any god who seeks to do business with her would do well to have a gift to offer her.

Kemzu's domain, hidden away on the Plane of Positive Energy (I'm not sure this exists in your cosmology, so I can change it, maybe something like the Feywild or the First World?) is the Duchy of Boles, centered around the fossilized remains of her original tree. It is a carefully grown and pruned garden where the plants never seem to bear fruit unless Kemzu is there to harvest it.

Kemzu is a beautiful dryad with skin like bark.

Her herald is The Cherry Judge, a corrupted Toshigami kami of a cherry tree, most often sent by Kemzu to punish apostates and ex-clerics.

edit: Did several edits as I banged this out over my lunch break.

Also, I want to say I really like Babaki. Its very similar to a gnome-turned-demon-lord that I had made for a home game.

I also accept "Atheos, god of Atheism."

I think neutral concepts just seem the most interesting to play to many people...

Liberty's Edge

Additional Information on Personality

Zodaxus rarely refers to anyone by their real name, instead employing a variety of nicknames because they sound better because he thinks they sound better or are better suited to the individual. Individuals he likes tend to recieve awesome flattering nicknames while persons he does not like recieve insulting ones. Zodaxus sometimes has multiple nicknames for the same person. He might switch between them freely or use different ones depending on the situation, especially whether or not he is happy with that person at that moment.

Possible Example Nicknames for Various Gods, includong some of the entrants here (note that I will stop using a nickname anytome the person owning the character asks me to, though such a request need be made out of character, as Zodaxus himself would not heed such a request, and a purely in character communication may not mean you really want me to stop).

Babaki: "Assclown," "Pennywise," "Honknose."

Atheos: "Thinking Guy," "Bookman," "Debate Man."

Omnus: "Robosquare," "The Giant Roomba," "Sparkbreath."

Cayden Cailean: "Mi Wiafu," "Captain Awesome," "Superliver."

Xanth: "Puff," "Scalydude," "Smokebreath."

Tharros: "Edgelord," "Entropybreath."

Asmodeus: "Goatboy," "A*%@@@*," "F+~+wad." (He does not like Asmodeus, so he'll address the s+&%stain him by a wide variety of accurate insulting titles).

Michazra: "Rotbreath," "Rotbrain," "Corpse-girl."

Wiwneas: "Senpai," "Cloudkiller," "Skystreaker."

Adriel: "Epicman," "Senpai," "Swordsquare," "Paladin Guy." (That last one is largely practical, as he is presumably the guy with all the paladins.)

(I hope no one takes any more insulting nicknames personally. That just means that Zodaxus doesn't like your god because they are either lawful or evil. It's no reflection on how well-constructed I think your characters are. Remember, Zodaxus is really immature and kind of annoying to those around him. He does not have one eigth if the self control needed to be polite to people he doesn't like, especially when they are gods and there's nothing else he can really do to them.)

Will Huston wrote:

Thanks! In my experience, gnomes tend to be way better when they're evil and crazy.

Yeah Adriel might like being called Paladin Guy. And Wiwneas is no longer the goddess of love. Could never get that to work right in her concept.

Adriel's realm of Avalon is similar to the Avalon from Arthurian lore.

Zodaxus didn't give me an alias! I feel almost excluded. :) Well, I guess there are so many applications, right?

Still crossing my fingers here to get in! Maybe I'll even get a nickname, who knows...

I think getting a nickname meant he didn't like something about you so being ignored might be a compliment.

At least I'm going to hope so ;)

I feel like I should create a lawful evil god since we have so few.

Cil'dr God of the Depraved:

Alignment: Lawful Evil
Symbol: An axe crossed with a dagger
Favored weapon: Hand Axe (the most versatile of weapons)
Domains: Liberation, Law, Evil, Darkness, Community
Subdomains: Revolution, Slavery, Loss, Corruption, Cooperation
worshippers: the weak seeking power, Thieves & Assassins, Mercenaries, Horde style kingdoms(such as the mongol empire or golden horde), Nomads in harsh environments.

Cil'dr, God of the depraved, was created when sapient life first prayed for someone to protect them in their most desperate hour. He is a god of primal need, a need to survive at all costs. He instructs his followers to protect their friends and be vicious to their enemies. He teaches them to use anything they can to survive, the strongest is the one who always wins.

Cil'dr commands his followers work together to survive any outside forces and fight them tooth and nail. He spites all who wreath themselves in decadence or become soft. Everyone only has what they have because they were strong, and survived because they had someone else as strong at their back.

Cil'dr is worshipped by people in barren lands or who are banished, he is also a patron of thieves and assassins and gives powers to all who will do anything to win. by those who seek revenge against their masters or to climb the social ladder and become masters of others. bribery, thievery, murder... all are condoned so long as it helps them survive and doesn't hurt a fellow Cil'drian.

Cil'dr commands his followers to pay their debts and keep their promises, people who cannot be counted on are a danger to the group, this obviously does not extend outside of his followers.

When Cil'drians die they go to Visgar, a Large expansive realm of bureaucratic and military facilities. All are pressed into service to help their living counterparts as what are known as Shadows, spirits who guide and watch over the Cil'drians.

Cil'dr considers the undead a break of contract with the universe and desires all undead to be destroyed so they can pay what is due.

edit: no longer want to play as innovation, Xanth and Cil'dr are both much more formed and desirable to play for me.

I'll be coming back with my entry shortly - it's not perfect, but hopefully it will convey itself well enough!

Just because I won't feel right if I don't say it, Kemzu is a portmanteau of Kudzu and Shemzu, an Egyptian Demon/God of Agriculture and Executions.

Osoro is just me trying to come up with a name that fits with the Orisha.

Scarab Sages

OKAY! Better late than never, right? This isn't perfect as written; it could use some polishing, which I can figure out going forward.

Vortae

Alignment Chaotic Neutral (kind of leans toward Good)

Symbol A closed door

Titles The Unknown, The Lonely One, The Road Less Traveled, The Choice Not Made, The Traveler at Twilight, The Curator, The Forgotten One

Portfolio secret knowledge, exotic magic, lost and hidden things, solitude, dichotomies, boundaries and transgression thereof, travel, death and resurrection, art and architecture (especially graves, signposts, monuments, and museums), the unknown

Domains Chaos (Entropy), Void (Isolation), Travel (Exploration), Knowledge (Memory), Luck (Imagination), Repose (Souls), Magic (Arcane) I'm aware I might need to trim these

Favored Weapon quadrens

Genesis Before the beginning of time, when the cosmos was being created (some say in the waning eons of the previous cosmos), the creators devised and experimented with many other possibilities besides the universe we inhabit today. Most of these were scrapped and assimilated when the final decision to make this universe was made - but one creator, Vortae, refused to abandon Its work. It had been far ahead of schedule compared to the others, and had been mostly finished when the final decision had been reached, so when the other primordial universes were swept away to make way for the universe to be, Vortae used all Its power to sustain its creation, hiding it away in the "blind spot" of the new universe and its gods. Its preservation was imperfect, and most of what survived was a haunted ruin of what could have been. Vortae looked upon what was left with a combination of relief that It could save this much, and sadness that that was all when it could have been so much more. Since then, Vortae has worked to rebuild this universe, though not at the expense of the prevailing one, whose existence it never actually begrudged. It spends much of Its time wandering this and other universes, trying to drum up acolytes to help rebuild and populate Its forgotten dream, as well as inspiring artists, artisans, and scholars, for all acts of creation and discovery honor Vortae. Cephalopods and cats are sacred to Vortae, for they are in fact refugees from Vortae's universe, still operating on some level by that universe's alien laws rather than this one.

Realm:While Vortae might be found nearly anywhere, it's home is what is left of its preprimordial creation, now known as the Twilight Garden. It is a dark, lonely, beautiful place of spectacular ruins, starlit skies, and geography that defies the laws of nature as we know them.

Worshippers: Vortae attracts the worship of artists, artisans, geniuses, and explorers, as well as frustrated and lonely souls, and those who regret past choices and missed opportunities. It is also considered the patron of adventurous children and prodigies. Scholars, detectives, and journalists (those who seek the unknown) may honor It as well.

Wiwneas is no longer a love goddess. Couldn't fit that into her concept.

Anyhow, good luck everyone!

Thanks for the list Ridge, it's helpful. Two more hours then it's time for me to work on choosing my selections, results to be posted within the day.

If Zodaxus gets in, he'll give every other god, PC and NPC, a nickname, and anyone he regularly interqcts with will have several.

Alright! These are the Gods I have chosen for this game:

Scrapeknee
Tharros
Zodaxus
Michazra
Atheos
Babaki
First Mother Ishalla
Osoro
Cil'dr
Vortae
Adriel

I chose 11 instead of 10 in case a player or two doesn't show up for the game, although if all 11 show up I'm cool dropping an NPC God slot to fit them all.

Discussion up, check in if you will.

And thanks to everyone who applied, there were a lot of great submissions.

Woot. Thanks.

You're welcome! Looking forward to playing with everyone!
