Halia rushes towards what looks like another alarm beacon, hoping this one is not messed with like the last one. Hopeful luck was on her side this night, she tries to tug on the rope of what she assumes is an alarm bell, hoping that might stop the crazied beast. She really could only hope so, for while she wasn't friends with any of them, she couldn't help but feel a bit of the blame. The worry was hidden, but a careful notice anyone could tell she was over thinking things now.

Halia struggles with the rope, as in her rush she was not stopping to think maybe there was a different way to activate the alarm besides just tugging on the rope. Which is why when there was a loud snap, and the rope came tumbling down on her, she was not ready and was knocked to her feet due to the weight and suddenness of all the rope that came down. She would be unable to untangle herself for a few seconds, dazed and confused.

The Cleric raises her hand and a spear of golden light appears in her hands, she pulls back and throws it at the werewolf.

"Some sort of protection, i don't know why but i got a good hit on it, but it didn't seem to do anything." He offers, hoping they know more. He has none of the local knowledge required of these creature.

He will ready to 5-foot (presumably to another flanking location) and attempt to dirty trick blind the werewolf once more, assuming someone manages to trip the creature.

Mandrake tears a chunk out of Tandar's shoulder and takes in all the new players. More were likely coming, and the dwarf was surely dead already. No one could possibly identify him. He could easily come back and finish off Bolton at another time.

Exasperated beyond reason (from her viewpoint anyways) the creature has destroyed multiple alarms, she rushes back towards the room (a double move) ending up at the door entry behind the guards, ready to reenter the fray, for maybe all she can do to help is delay the creature, hopeful the guards has raised some alarm she has surely missed. She was tired of all this running around, with nothing much to really show for it after pointing out to the guards were to go. Maybe she can beat it to death with her fist?

He surely has a better case for his own innocence now, but justice may go unrewarded if it gets away. Halia would get a final AOO, but I think we should just call it here. Combat over.

Kurth bristled at his case being so easily dismissed. But couldn't completely disagree either.

"You're still a person of interest, Mister Reid. But I suppose we can release your--pet--back into your care. But do not leave town until this investigation is completed."

Kurth then turned towards Tandar who was speaking to Miss Greentree.

Halia pause for a moment before she utters in surprise " Tandar, you mentioned the dead girls name? What did you say it was again?" She was trying to connect some dots, for she had never been told the contacts name, and Emily just seemed so unlikely a name.
" The reason I ask is I knew her by a different name, the one I knew was Elisa. She is suppose to be from Rence. How well did you know her?" She asked them gathered " It is nice and all to room together boys, however some of us have different... sensibilities and I just wonder... how... incase the monster came back... would anyone know? Being alone in a room I think is what nearly got us killed."
Bolton and Kurth would most likely notice a slight shake to her voice, the fear not quiet hidden. And she was scared, for if the girl was the contact point, how did she not know the werewolf was not an assasain? He could have meant to kill them both, and now she would be hunted down like a mangy dog. When it was mentioend they stay trogether, she nodded. She liked the idea of staying together, but seeing the lack of females, was a bit concerned for her safety, not really knowing any of the males gathered. She remembered how the bandits treated some of the women they captured, and somewhat proved the horror stories of humans true.
How do I know this isn't some plan to just get me alone and murder me? Bolton looks familiar but I just can not place from were. Could he have been with the other bandit groups? Silver is a relatively common thing to use against undead and other monsters, so this makes sense. It wouldn't be the type of thing to give the average rank and file guard unless there was an emergency though.

Kurth makes a point to put some emphasis on the elf's name, which he was beginning to suspect might be an alias. She was clearly guilty of something. And that meant she probably had information he needed to stop Mandrake. He'd cut her a deal if he had to.

Meanwhile, in a dark alley several blocks down Mandrake curses back in his human form. He'd been too brazen in his latest attack. He'd been waiting for the woman, who was supposedly meeting someone else as well, in connection with D.D. He felt her notice him, and so had to act too early... honestly, what really surprised him was the arrival of a completely unrelated party...
and that he was seen by a witness no less? It went about as bad as it could. He wasn't injured, but still felt great pains. The only hope he had was that nobody the only one to see the chance, the dwarf...

"You know, he's still alive. Stubborn little people they are."

A voice from the darkness caused his heart rate to spike, and he felt his beastial form begin to once more pull at the seams

"Calm yourself. We're both friends here... or well, we could be."

"Easier to trust a face i can see." Mandrake responds, hearing the voice from no specific direction.

"Trust will come in time, just know that we have been following your... antagonistic interactions with the the servants of D.D. I won't ask your reasons, but we do support them. In fact, we're willing to offer to you, your next target and a place you can stay safe. Chances are your home will be raided."

During the night, a fire breaks out in a nearby building. The burning smell wafts through the morning air, a clear sig nof danger form last night. Silvermug would realize in the morning when he hears about it, that it would have been that exact safe house they where going to stay in, but had ended up being to late to travel, and the group had instead stayed in the safety of the church bunkrooms for visiting clergy. A bit of fortune in this horrid affair surely, as perhaps the werewolf attack saved them all from a fiery death. Hours after the fire, a secret meeting was held about the case, as it involved corruption within the ranks, only senior officers and clergy was at it. During this meeting, several things were discussed, including Silvermug, Tandar, and Bolton's heroism in the face of overwhelming danger.
Silvermug would receive the minutes of the meeting, as would other members of the church, as it decried the violence against innocents and included a sermon on how law and order are what protects us from these vile beasts, and that the attack on the members of the church only proves how important it is to follow and maintain order and just laws. Silvermug also got in his packet, orders that him and the group where to remain close by to the church, essentially prisoners, as an obvious attempt has been made on their lives. How Silvermug delivers this news however is best left to him the letter ends, as for now, none of them may leave the city, and to try and stay together, or at least in groups of 2 or more.

Before retiring for the night, Kurth used his magic to heal himself and the other who were injured in the attack.

Cure Light Wounds vs Kurth: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Cure Light Wounds vs Bolton: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Cure Light Wounds vs Tandar: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Looks like we're all fully healed before we go to rest.

The next morning, Kurth is told of the attack. At first he was livid, and asked why he wasn't informed immediately since this likely affected his case. But that was when he was informed that he was being removed from the case. The orders coming from the Chief Inquisitor herself.

"You are a likely target, Inquisitor Silvermug," he was told by his superior. "You cannot investigate your own case."

Kurth understood the logic, but it galled at him all the same.

I'm gonna make a Profession (merchant) check to see if I know someone who has alchemical silver weapons we can purchase. Let's say DC 15.

Profession (merchant) DC 15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Well, that's a no go. Someone else want to make a Knowledge (local) check? Or perhaps one related. I don't think we should be able to just find silver weapons right away--at least not without an accompanying check. It should take time, unless we know exactly where to go. Silver weapons don't strike me as something every blacksmith just has.

Kurth informs the others about the events.

"It looks like we all need to stick together. Technically, I'm off this case, but I don't do well just sitting around doing nothing. I agree with Tandar that we should investigate the werewolf at the library. We know silver works against it, but maybe we'll find something else to help as well."

"Speaking of which, I'm not actually sure where we can find silver weapons in the city. I've never had to buy one. There are a few silver weapons here at the Church, but that's in short supply, and isn't something we can just commandeer for free, especially since we have to arm the guards. Anyone know where we can find some proper weapons?"

"Admittedly, the last times i came to Valora I wasn't really running around purchasing equipment. Not sure about the layout of the city too well myself. That said though..." He clears his throat, petting the happy wolf next to him-- clearly glad to be out of a cage. "I think this would be a good chance to do formal introductions, since we may be together for a bit. My name is Bolton Reid, Bolt is fine if you'd rather. I have lived down in Rence, a border town near the elven and dwarven lands to the south. Recently left after things got peaceful with the bandits calming down to try out an adventurer's lifestyle before i get too old for it. This here," he pats Cami once more, "Is my companion, Cami. Kurth stares at the wolf warily. "Uh, charmed." He clears his throat and says, "My name is Kurth. I'm an Inquisitor for the Church of the Master of the First Vault. I seek out enemies of the Faith."

Kurth then took a deep breath.

"And I should say thank you for saving my life. I am in your debt. And that is no small thing for an Abadarran."

Was coming out of her room, having changed into clothing more suited to sitting around a dusty old church and freezes when Bolton mentions being from Rence. She was now backtracking in her mind to see if she mentioned being from Rence, or if she gave another place. As she could not keep the fact she had paused from being obvious, she coughs slightly and tries to cover it up by directing the question back to a few of the task at hand. Being placed near Rence would bring up questions she would rather not answer, not with how things have turned out. She was very much regretting her choice to hang out with those bandits.
" Is there anyway we could access the priesthood about how to care for the werewolf issue? Or is there something else we could be doing?"
She had dressed for the day in a causal dress, but all those gathered near by, or having a passing acquaintance with the female form, the lack of curves in certain places gave tell she was carrying more than a few daggers. As she tried to avoid the question of who she was, she answers
" I guess introductions are to be given. I am Halia Silver... Greenwood. I would like to claim my home may be found on a map, but I am doubtful you would have that map." She prayed to Calistria that no one would question nor recongize her slip up as her trying ot hide a name, but rather a translation mistake

Bolton offers an odd glance to Kurth, as the two elves converse in their own language beside them. Admittedly, the woman did seem oddly nervous, maybe he was trying to calm her down. He shrugged, "I do think researching at the library before anything else might be first priority. We might learn something more that might influence any purchases."

He suggests this, though not trying to interrupt their conversation. He still waits for the male elf's formal introduction as well.

Scowls at Tandar, and waves a hand, then points to both Bolton and Kurth before replying, her tone carrying that she was miffed. However since Tandar could understand her, he would know the truth, or most of it.

I may have done some shameful things. Neither of these are elders, so I do not have to explain fully to them my actions. Regardless, we should stick together and have a united front. Humans are encroaching in our lands, and this Bolton fellow is from a town that has done so.

She does try to adjust her dress, the simple garment however seems obvious to her trying to move the daggers into a less obvious place. She then moves two slender bladed daggers from her chest area, which Bolton and Kurth would most likely question where they came from, as she was not the most blessed in that area, before tying her wavy hair up, a few blue strands falling forward, covering her face before she tucked them back. Outside of the two daggers in her hair, she looked like a slightly plump elven woman, but maybe no one would think her more than just a simple commoner. Surely elves were not a rare thing in the city.

Kurth returns Bolton's look with a shrug. And when the two elves finally finish their private conversation, he clears his throat and says, "Tandar's a bit unconventional, but he's reliable. I trust him with my life and frankly so should you."

Tensed up, thankful she had not told him the truth. A small feeling of betrayal sparked, for while she could work for them for gold, working for the human army was just... unthinkable. How could he stand them killing his own kind? Most humans are just animals, this whole affair proves it. How could he help them? She sniffs a bit, but she wasn't any different. Truth be told she was a thief, scoundrel, and she was judging him? Someone was being a might be unfair. She stares off, her brow a bit wrinkled and she continues to worry. These men had tried to save her life, somewhat, and yet... she would be hanged by all three most likely for the crimes of her past. They had shed blood in the name of the law, but she was just a criminal.

"I suppose we start by grabbing silver gear then, and proceed thereafter to research more?" Bolton offered, contradicting his prior suggestion. Following the direction of Tandar, who seems to know of someone that can get them such materials. In his own mind, a blanch of silver, and maybe other kinds, for his arrows wouldn't hurt.

Honestly, many others from the capital, while some more progressive than others, would likely scoff at the idea of being stuck with a group of non-Humans. Halflings not-withstanding. They weren't openly prosecuted for race alone or anything of that sort, but undue resentment did tend to exist within the population. His own views skewed somewhat due to his life at the border, and more frequent interaction with both elves and dwarves. Plus, Tandar and Kurth seemed to do right by him so far, though little he's known them. Halia, however, seemed oddly familiar to him. Not something he would dig into too much, as it's highly likely he might have just seen her at some point heading by Rence en route to elven lands. They're one of the first roads from them into Huinia, after all.

Sighs softly at Kurth, and shakes her head " The truth is not something anyone here needs from me right now, not while we may die. Let us solve that first , then maybe we can talk again. In the mean time, I got pretty, so lets go do some shopping. Rather not waste the day. We could have a good bit of study ahead of us with this werewolf thing." They all could tell she didn't intend to share what she had done, but the tone and her actions said she wasnt proud of them, and most likely they didnt have a statue of limitations on them either.
Changing the subject, she asks Kurth " Where would we find shops that cater to like... clothing and other supplies? One must look good while trapped. I bet I could even get your beard styled." It was clearly a ploy to change to happier subjects, as they started to leave for the weapon shops.

Nods, a bit used to the racism from the humans. She says " I guess we will need to go cloth shopping first, then for some stuff to bathe with," giving the men a pointed look " then onto the blacksmith for silver weapons. Any where else? We go to the library afterwards? That way we all shop, then are together most of the time. Are they going to send guards with us or are we armed enough to go?" She had left her bow and rapier with her armor, as she wasnt planning on ruining the only nice dress she had with her. More like only dress. The men are lucky they dont have to deal with long hair and dresses. Or the lack of any more dresses. She made a face at the thought of needing more clothing. Just more stuff to carry back home.
