"Don't trouble yourselves, dears, Jeslyn is expecting us." She calls up amicably to the tieflings who spot her as she makes her way up the stairs.

Bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

The bluff check is really only to buy them any time at all to make it up the stairs without being immediately attacked, not much else.

Round 1:

Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Chancre invokes the judgement of destruction, and surges it. He climbs the stairs like a man half his age, stopping just out of hand-to-hand range of the nearest tiefling (use of agile feet if necessary and assuming that his crummy Initiative roll even lets him get that close), and invokes the Wand of Spiritual Weapon toward the farthest tiefling he can.

please note (a) Use of Defiant Luck if he would roll a natural 1 on any save or take a Critical Hit that would kill him, and (b) I haven't updated his character sheet yet to indicate the Iomedaean shield and armor (bad me), his AC is 22 rather than 19

Into the Breech - Round 1

The tiefling at the top of the stairs looks confused and looks at his compantions down the hallway. In response, the two tieflings there and the two just across the hallway from the stairs step up to take a look. Much less confused than the discombobulated one at the top of the stair, they pull thier crossbows - the two that were closer able to shoot down at Samirah. One bolt breaks against the stone of the wall, but the second sinks into flesh. Samirah takes 4 hit points.

Roshan moves gracefully to the base of the stairs then springing off the stone wall to land on the upper floor. A few more steps, nimbling avoiding the attack from one of the tieflings who fired and Roshan is at the door in the northwestern corner of the hall. He grins at his foes knowingly, hand resting casually upon the latch. Then he swings the door open. A smell of blood, bile and rot wafts out from the room.

Roshan or Perception DC 20:
There is a soft grunt, almost curiosity from the newly opened room.

Samirah makes it to the top of the stairs, scimitar drawn and swinging at the tiefling closest to her, who still looks confused at Samirah's words. Her scimitar slices into the stalled tiefling, delivering not a killing blow, but a debilitating one.

With Roshan right there, the tiefling next to him does not pull his sword. Instead he bolts down the hallway looking like he'd like to continue down the stairway - if it weren't for Samirah in the way.

Chancre:
Agile feet not used. That was 30-ft of movement.
Chancre invokes the judgement of destruction, and surges it. He climbs the stairs like a man half his age, stopping just out of hand-to-hand range of the nearest tiefling, and invokes the Wand of Spiritual Weapon toward the farthest tiefling he can. This time the force weapon strikes true, slicing into the far tiefling.

Konstantin advances up the stairs to get in range.

The tiefling at the top of the stairs, looks towards Roshan's open door with wide, fear-filled eyes. Having no where to flee, he tries to create a path down the stairs. 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 But Samirah just manages to parry his blow.

Samirah:
Please mark down one use of panache in parrying the blow.

With a last, unhappy, look at all of the demons in the room below, Irabeth moves up the stairs as much as she can.

Female Ifrit Swashbuckler 9 (Marshal 2)

Samirah gets a glimpse of Roshan springing up the wall and landing on the other side of the tieflings, and shakes her head. "Stairs. What was I even thinking?" She mutters to herself, parrying the tiefling's attack.

Round 2:

To Hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 5 = 13

After parrying the panicked blow of the tiefling, Samirah's aim is thrown off slightly and her next attack misses. She attempts to get around the tiefling to allow more of her friends up the stairs and into the battle.

I'm guessing a 13 doesn't hit? If it does, modify my comment as you will. And let me know if I need to post any rolls to move into the room.

Into the Breech - Round 2

From inside the room, hooves pound against stone as something runs and then heavy wings beating the air. A creature - a winged reindeer with carnivorous teeth and rending claws - burst through the newly opened door way, goring Roshan as it starts the hunt for meat. (Roshan takes 7 points of damage.)

As the monstrous creature bursts its way out of the room, the stance of the tieflings in the hall changes, going from guardians to the hunted. Unable to flee down the stairs, the tieflings bolt to the opposite side of the hallway from the horned monster. Two of them fire down the hallway - maybe at the group, maybe at the creature - but it is hard to tell as the bolts break against the stone wall.

Roshan's chakram lances through the air, bypassing the line of disconcerted tieflings and sprays the wall with blood from the severed neck of the one Samirah wounded. Like a blur he follows suit, bolting past the entire row of astonished demonlings (and the winged monster) he launches himself into the air, running briefly sideways along the wall and lands with a somersault flourish just past the last in line. He turns, cocks his head at at those farther across the room and beckons to them, grinning with a devil-may-care gleam in his eyes.

Samirah:
Regain one panache from the falling of a evil outsider.
With the first enemy fallen only because of her own bold attack, and the rest of the tieflings bolted down the hallway, Samirah is able to dodge into flanking. After parrying the panicked blow of the tiefling, Samirah's aim is thrown off slightly but with the slight edge from flanking, she hits.

Flanked, the final tiefling can't further flee the winged beast. He tries to down Samirah to move, but she easily dodges the clumsy blow.

Chancre rubs his thumb across Terendelev's scale for a moment, and a pillar of clouds rises beneath him. He hauls himself up the wall, hand over hand, as he levitates -- finally stopping when he is over Samirah (or whoever is at the head of the stairs), providing concealment.

His Spiritual Weapon follows its target attacks again. Again scoring a bloody mark.

The ice at the end of the hallway hisses as frost suddenly rimes it. A brutal cold hits the tieflings crowded there. All of the tieflings look miserably cold, but the one being harried by Chancre's magical sword seems moments from freezing in place.

And finally up the stairs, Irabeth moves into a defensive posture, keeping an eye on the winged beast.

Into the Breech - Round 2

The peryton pushes off the wall on which it perches, a sound between the grunt of a deer and the scream of eagle breaking from the creature's throat. It screeches through the air to be rebuffed by Chancre's newly acquired armor to lurk in the corner above the stairway.

Two of the tieflings at the end of the hall blink, freezing, their hands clenching around the crossbows they hold, barely managing to reload the weapons. The other two do manage to load and shoot, although they look confused when they look for winged reindeer and don't see it, so instead shoot at Samirah and Irabeth. Once bolt shatters on Irabeth's shield and Samirah easily parries the other from the air.

Roshan whirls in place, ducking low (1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11) under the sword blow of the tiefling, and lets fly two discs of cold iron towards the flying reindeer games.

Samirah almost looks apologetic as she plunges her blade into the tiefling's chest. "Better this than that," she says, jerking her head towards the demon reindeer.

Chancre's Spiritual Weapon attacks again. But dissipates doing no further damage

The ice at the end of the hallway pulses and freeze, causing one tiefling to stiffen as his eyes ice over in death. The rest are able to breathe again as the cold fades.

Konstantin steps up to the entryway, his forearm frosting over. He hurls the snowball at the reindeer monster, the ice barely hitting the creature, the cold freezing the creature in mid-air. Then it falls to the ground in a pulp of semi-frozen flesh.

Into the Breech - Round 4
Perception DC 25:
You hear a door open on the far side of the building, then there seems to be a slight sound of a displaced air in room near where the tieflings lurk at the end of the hallway.

The tieflings look far happier about the destruction of the malevolent reindeer, its death does not prevent them from firing crossbows at the Irabeth and Samirah. Two bolts dent Irabeth's shield and a final one falls to Samirah's sword.

Two kunai from Roshan, both thudding into the same tiefling, doing damage - but not enough.

With a nod to Irabeth for the assist, Samirah then darts across the room to take the attack to the tieflings that appear to be shaking off the cold that held them in place. The tiefling she damages, still slow from the ice, falls under her scimitar.

Chancre begins to gently glow. He hauls himself along the wall until he is no longer in the stairwell, and invokes the Wand of Spiritual Weapon again. His ranged, free-dancing sword successfully attacks the tiefling with Roshan's kunai sticking out. And that is one more fallen native outsider.

From the opposite end of the hallway from where the tiefling cowers, you hear a buzzing. Three bloated flies, their faces human but twisted in rage, float out of the hallway. Electricity runs over their bodies, flickering from one to another as they move in formation. At the far end of the hallway, the creatures rub against each other, a massive bolt of lightning jumping from one to another then burning down the hallway.

Into the Breech - Round 4

Roshan steps forward diagonally out of Samirah's path, two more cold iron throwing knives fly towards the electric buzz. The second one sinks into a flies chitinous flesh.

As she runs across the room, her hair trails behind her like the tail of a comet. She brings her blade up as she reaches one of the demons, and swings with all her momentum as she comes to a stop in front of it. Destroying the fly that Roshan had damaged.

Chancre:
Move to move. Move to change target to final fly.

Chancre continue use to glow, some of the damage from the electricity healing. The force rapier flies from one side of the hallway to the other, and succesfully slices off some flesh of the remaining fly.

Reflex save DC 14
Roshan: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 242d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 Evasion - Roshan takes no damage.
Samirah: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 242d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 Samirah takes 2 points of electrical damage.
Irabeth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 142d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 Irabeth takes 2 points of electrical damage.

The final fly sparks with electricity, sending forth a pulse far weaker than the one generated by the trio of flies.

A bleeting chuckle follows the blast of energy, as a erect goat saunters out of the open doorway with a halberd. It licks the blade, before slashing at Konstantin. "میں نے جادوگروں کو پسند نہیں کرتے . وہ ہمیشہ کام کے ساتھ گوبر . بہت زیادہ گندگی کی طرح ." The demon's halberd strikes home, hurting Konstantin, but not dropping the 'squishy' spellcaster. (Konstantin takes 16 damage.)

Abyssal, but you all understand:
"I don't like spellcasters. They always muck up with work. Like too much s$!~."

Konstantin:
... or at least I assume you'd prefer this.

The demon does have SR (I rolled below) and you just made it with a 15.

Konstantin sends another volley of magic missiles at the demon. The little force bolts bore into the demon, leaving frost behind.

Already close-by Irabeth's sword finishes the last fly so that everyone can focus their energy on the goat-demon.

Into the Breech - Round 6

Roshan takes a step to give himself just a little bit more breathing room, radiant shining silver flies after gold, adding to the pallet with a splash of red...or black...or...something. Actually deep purple with marroon streaks. A color with starts to flow down the stairs as the barrage of thrown holy weapons rips and sinks into the demon.

Chancre's weapon moves around the hallway looking for another target even as his glow brightens for a moment then fades.

Chancre is down 4 hit points. Konstantin is down 16 hit points. Roshan is down 7 hit points. Samirah is down 16 hit points. Irabeth is down 17 hit points.

"The abyss is a disgusting place." She tucks the empty bottle away. "I would rather spend a day listening to a sylph talk about nothing than to see another one of those fly demons." She finishes.

You get a sense that spending any time with a sylph is damn near the last thing she wants to deal with.

She moves around the room restlessly, on high alert in case any more monsters appear through doorways.

"I believe we should exterminate the dretches below and check on our prisoner before venturing any deeper."

Female Ifrit Swashbuckler 9 (Marshal 2)

She nods, moving back towards the stairs they entered the room from. "Good idea. It would be most efficient, I think, for you to handle the dretches." She looks down at her hands.

"I'm a little ashamed to admit I don't have the same control over my own heritage. Yet." She flexes her fingers, only managing to summon tiny flames that lick over her fingertips before disappearing. She shrugs.

Male Human Sorcerer 5/Dragon Disciple 4 (Archmage 2)

"Demons appear to be somewhat resistant to both heat and cold. I believe that iron will kill them most efficiently. However, there is no need to argue the point when we can go down those stairs and test. It might turn into a useful learning experience."

"Indeed." She casts an appraising look over the silent monk. "I'd be curious to hear, or see, the story about where you learned to fight." She says to Roshan with a small smile.

She looks down at her scimitar. "In any case, I have at least the iron to better handle demons now."

He shrugs, two open hands come up parallel to each other then shoot forward briefly before his right hand waves to there surroundings. He pulls the silver swallow tail and three remaining throwing knives from beneath his shirt and taps them together lightly. He touches the holy symbol to his forehead eyes closed, then replaces it and the weapons as well.

Almost as an afterthought he pauses, turns back, his index fingers hooking in and then circling in into fists ending at the sides of his cowl, head bent forward. He holds the pose briefly then raises his eyes to hers, smiles and gives a brief nod.

After a moments thought, Roshan taps Samirah on the arm, points towards the stairs, makes a motion as if on guard with a sword in hand, then puts himself behind Samirah with a hand on her shoulder. He points downwards towards room filled with small, obese demons, then makes walking/running motions with his fingers towards the stairs. He nods towards the stairs. A pause, then puts his hand on his chest, then to his temple before pointing to each door. He pulls out Irabeth's map and points to the room with the stairs rising to the next level. His hand sweeps across the rooms on this level, then taps again on the stairs going up to the one remaining room marked "Wardstone Chamber". Looks up at the others and shrugs.

Linguistics: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Roshan:

For the sake of not embarrassing myself in front of the entire group, and instead just embarrassing myself in front of you and Mana, I'm going to start making linguistics checks on posts when I'm not (as a player) absolutely clear on what Roshan is trying to communicate. Apparently this time she TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE MEANT THOUGH.
... But if you could help a lady out and give me a general translation in a spoiler? I think he's trying to point out that we can attack the demons or move up because we only have one more room to check?

Male Human Far Strike Qinggong Monk 9 + Mythic Tier 2

Samirah:
Actually, that was exactly it.
First he went over [i]"Okay, if we're going to take out the uggly little monsters below us, why don't we have Samirah in front and me right behind her on the stairs. Have them come to us so only so many can attack at a time." then he thought about it and went into the "Hey, we only have one room left. Maybe we should look around real quick and take the big bad out first? What do you guys think?"
Without looking at my post again, I'm pretty sure that was about it. You really had a good translation that time. ;)

Male Human Sorcerer 5/Dragon Disciple 4 (Archmage 2)

For the attack, Konstantin would like to shuffle the tiefling upstairs, so she's out of harm's way. Then we can put our tank, Samirah, in the front, then Roshan, then Konstantin.

Or Samirah, Irabeth, Roshan, Chancre, Konstantin.

Female Ifrit Swashbuckler 9 (Marshal 2)

Roshan:

Oh good! My natural 20 occurred in real life too, then. :D

Samirah puts a finger to her lips as she considers Roshan's signing. "It's true, there is only one room left to clear. One option is as good as the other, in my opinion, and I personally like the idea of clearing out the group below so we aren't surprised upstairs. I've had enough surprises today, since none of them have been the kind I like."

She looks from Roshan to Konstantin, then Chancre. "I will go first, with Roshan just behind me, and we shall all make short work of them." She smiles again, much more broadly.

She moves towards the stairs, with her sword drawn, then stops. "Also, we should probably ask Tiefling With No Name to leave the stairwell while we clean it up."
