Flash of Insight: You can spend a Harrow point to attempt a skill check that normally requires training for a skill in which you have no ranks. You gain a one-time +5 bonus to that skill check.
Intelligence Rerolls: You can spend a Harrow point to reroll any one Intelligence-based check. You must abide by the new result, even if it's lower (but you can spend more Harrow points to reroll again if you want to).
Focused Thought: You can reattempt a Knowledge check that you have previously failed. On this attempt, you gain a +10 bonus on the check.
Happy New Year, all! Sorry for the delayed post, my New Year ended up crazy, and this was my first opportunity to get some time in on the boards. But on we go!

Fortunately Korriban made a pretty good Diplomacy check, so the priest has taken the box of his own volition. :P
As a general rule, though...try to avoid posting actions that could devolve into any sort of PvP, or that assume particular actions on the part of another player. It's just easier to let them respond in any way they feel fit, and I like to avoid rolls that "attack" other players in any way. (Bluffs and that sort of thing, not such a big deal.) It's just easier when you don't have people to immediately respond to as you do in real life.
On a completely different note, I apologize for the laggard posting on my part lately!! I've been really kicked in the teeth by the new year and getting my rear in gear for a fellowship application, but that's over now, so hopefully we'll be moving a bit more quickly! Thanks for bearing with me.
I wanted to apologize for how short and non-plot driving my posts have been, I've had a hard time getting engaged at first and then the holiday's hit. I'm starting to get there now and if I seem to be flagging again, prod me please.
On the subject of non-stacking bonuses from the boots and the ring: I feel like that's something that your characters would just know/understand, particularly after trying to wear them. There isn't really a good in-game explanation for what that info would "look like" (as far as I know, anyway)--so I assume it's sort of like how people in our world know that if you toss something in the air, it'll fall down eventually.
Wear two things with competence bonuses? Ludicrous, that's not how magic physics work! :P

You know, I just thought of a way to connect Teo's story with mine. I could say that the gang is attacking people with disease!
Figured I'd move the shopping discussion over here. You can sell the poison, along with the other mundane goods, for half-price pretty easily...there are even apothecaries who have quasi-legitimate reasons to be interested in blue whinnis, so it won't affect your alignment. ;)
As to clothes, how much they cost depends on what you're looking for. Korvosa's a pretty big city, so you can find pretty much any of the mundane clothes listed on this page somewhere. Some of them may give you a bonus to certain social checks, some might just help you blend in, some might do nothing at all but be nice to have...
As to Calistrians: I'm following that now and realized I have to clear something up. There is no temple proper to Calistria within Korvosa; she has a shrine in the Pantheon of Many, but that's about it. There may be a few clerics like Lialda scattered around the city, but they're few and far between...
The following five deities have major temples in Korvosa: Abadar, Asmodeus, Shelyn, Sarenrae, and Pharasma. All the other core deities are represented in the Pantheon of Many, with the exception of Gorum, Lamashtu, and Rovagug, who do not have official representation in the city.

I kind of want cn Teodor to haggle with the other religions ...there are no secrets if everyone is dead, Norgorberite, etc. That would kind of have to be a solo thing, morally, though.

Okay, so what's everyone's thoughts on the rest of the stuff?
Awoop. Sorry for the delay, gonna try to address questions over here: my understanding was that you all were going to split up, then reconvene the next morning to:
--shop
--visit the Calistrians/Asmodeans
--pick up Ishani from the Vault of Abadar

@Lantressa: I'm not sure if you had story ideas you wanted to play out with the customer at Helvara's (if so, you can PM me if you prefer); if not, it's up to you! We can play out part of that or not. :)
I was thinking more of a housecall similar to how I entered the game at Ishani's place but ultimately I'm good with whatever really. Would lioe to play through part of it, even if just in PM to keep occupied.
No worries, I wanted to make sure you got some time to roleplay too! Spoilers are fine for now, if we go into "overtime" relative to the other group we could move to PM or similar.
Also, I just have to say how much fun it is to write complete jerkwads. :P

So, should I just sell the pipes of fear? Would give us more funds.
Lantressa: while you can't fascinate the whole crowd, I will let you work it on the nearest people to give everyone else a +2 bonus to checks to move through the crowd. :)
Sorry for the delay; some traveling went a bit sideways.

Yeah, I know I made two diplomacy rolls and two sense motive rolls in the same post. I figured that they were two separate situations.
Yeah, the AP actually assumes you guys skip the meeting, though I'm more than happy to roleplay it out. :P
Given the many splits, I'm wondering before continuing: should we shift this to the Flex Time Thread? Been an age since we used that. Or do people think that the results of these activities might influence what you do next?

It's okay. I don't mind sitting in the meeting. As for the thread, I would be good with either. I know that Korriban will be chiming in during the meeting. And the results will have some influence.
Also, I thought Selawyn would be joining the meeting to deal with the Asmodians and their contract.

Hey, Teodor. I have a question. When I pass out the money from selling items, do you take your share? I ask because I remember you saying that you didn't need it.

To save myself having to dig through this too much so I can reply can I get a bit more info on this Rosa in Fiore? I don't know if it's part of the story originally or if it's something added and I assume that the "heir to the Rosa in Fiore" that I'm being asked about is Korriban?
Just want to make sure that I respond appropriately and I found myself confused. Would have asked earlier so I could get a post up today but I kinda forgot and am out of time now. Gotta head to my home game, we're the, I believe, 4th level of Emerald Spire tonight.

The Rosa isn't part of the original adventure path. It's something that I created that is connected to Korriban's backstory.
As for more info, I'll be more than happy to go through the entire backstory of the Rosa in Fiore and Korriban's family. That way, you can pick and choose what information you think Lantressa would know. And everyone else is free to read it as well. :)
A Lot of Backstory:
The Rosa in Fiore was established around 50 years ago by Kazallin. She was an elf priestess of Calistria who had migrated from Kaer Maga to Korvosa at 151 years old to expand the teachings of her goddess and to make her fortune. She built the Rosa, declaring it a minor temple since she didn't exactly have the funding to build a full temple. A few years later, she fell in love and married a man named Andrezi Balros. Andrezi had moved to Korvosa from Riddleport to make his own fortune. He used to be an expert knife wielding pirate working under Captain Or Sutharla. A couple years after they married, they had Lialda. Lialda grew up learning the ways of her mother and working as a courtesan at the Rosa. At this time, Andrezi became a critic of the Korvosan government, speaking up against the unfairness of it all. When Lialda was still fairly young, Andrezi died. Although, the details related to his death were shrouded in mystery. Even to this day, no one knows why or how he died.
When Lialda was 17, she had been attacked by a man named Gaedren Lamm. The older man tried to have his way with her, but she resisted furiously. Lamm wound up stabbing her and running off. Lialda had survived this ordeal. Unfortunately, the wound made it so that she was unable to bear children. She had since held a grudge against him.
Six months after Lialda had fully taken leadership of the Rosa, she came across a Shoanti man named Falko. He was being ostracized by a mob with an 'Anti-Shoanti' mentality. She rescued him from the mob and took him in. Falko has since sworn fealty to her and the Rosa in Fiore. He became the head bouncer and Lialda's personal bodyguard. There are numerous rumors that Falko also serves Lialda as her sole lover. He has also said that he's actually from the Sklar-Quah.
Meanwhile, nineteen years before the start of the campaign, Korriban was left on the doorsteps of an orphanage. He lived in the orphanage for three years, not knowing his birthday or even if Korriban is his real name. Then, the orphanage burned down under mysterious circumstances. For the next two years after that, Korriban had been living on the streets as an orphan. Then, at the age of five, Korriban met the man who would unknowingly change his life: Gaedren Lamm. Lamm had taken (supposed) pity and offered Korriban a home. A place where he would have food and shelter; a place without fear. Desperate, Korriban agreed and left with him.
However, that was the start of four years that could be described as hell. Back then, Korriban was short and very clumsy. Whenever Lamm sent him to pickpocket someone, Korriban would always seem to mess up in some way, earning him severe punishments. Eventually, Lamm couldn’t handle it anymore. He invited Korriban into his office with a facade of peace, forgiveness, and understanding. However, to Korriban’s shock, Lamm beat him to the point of near death, chucking his body into a rubbish pile. However, Korriban refused to die, limping out of the rubbish, seeking help. That's when Korriban met the other person who would change his life forever. Lialda, who was 29 at this point, saved his life and took him in, raising him and teaching him. The others who reside at the Rosa in Fiore aloud had a hand in raising him.
Korriban had learned from the streets, picking up manuals on different things, especially fencing. When he reached the age of 13, Korriban asked for training to get revenge on Lamm. Lialda, moved by his drive, agreed to teach him the ways of the courtesan. Korriban also trained his skills with a rapier, using the manuals. He became passionate about fencing from the multitude of stories his mother told him about the legendary hero, Blackjack.
When Korriban was fourteen, Kazallin had passed away to join her husband. Korriban continued his training until the age of nineteen when the events of this campaign began.
Among the different residents, another of the more notable is the halfling named Lidda. Lialda had taken her from the streets to live in the brothel and work as a bard, providing entertainment through her lute, her singing voice, and various other services. She also works as a spymaster, commanding a decent size of contacts. She picks up any information she can. She also provides beneficial information to Lialda. There is a rumor among the girls that the Cheliaxian man, Adoros, might be her lover.
Verik Vancaskerkin used to be a high ranking member of the Guard. When the king died, he deserted, deciding to use his talents to aid the less fortunate by passing out meat. Unfortunately, our heroes managed to stop him and revealed that his men had been passing out human meat to the poor. Traumatized, he surrendered. The heroes spoke up in his defense and he was sentenced to few months in prison. When he was released, he was approached by Korriban, who offered him a job. The rouge even returned his equipment. After a few days of thought, Verik decided to become a bodyguard at the Rosa.
Also, yes, Korriban is the heir to the Rosa in Fiore.

Also, where is Teodor? Is he still with us? I'm assuming he is and just hasn't been posting since this event really doesn't involve him.
