Doi! Lemme add my well wishes with the interview results.
Caladrel Wintergrasp
Just for clarification...
....Zombie 3 shrugs off your hex.
Zombie 3 still has -2 AC for 2 rounds, right. The save only lowers the number of rounds he's afflicted by the hex.
only saying because "shrugs off" reads as if it has no effect.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro
...My bad... Sorry... I should go to bed... #_# Just Remind me tomorrow as we continue combat k. And thank you for correcting me. ^_^ DM's and players should work together, not against. Good on ya for speaking up.
Also the "...." was my surprise that it actually made a will save...
Any way, good night.

Are you guys becoming frustrated with the bird? I'm sorry as this was not my intention... It just really wants the ring. Technically you don't have to aquiesse to Mab's demands... There are other things you could do: ignore it, attack it, tell it to screw off, etc. I'm just telling you guys that I'm not trying to force you into anything. Besides this being an AP, your decisions of how to go about it are completely open.
Sevante
Nope, not a problem. Sevante's just realized almost half the group has disappeared and wants to get going. He will just walk away with the ring if it wants to further negotiate.
Raseri Whitescale
Not a problem here either. Still kinda working my way into the character. Also, I've updated Raseri's sheet to include the new gear.
Is any one keeping track of the loot?
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro
..... I'm hesitant to say this... but I would be willing to keep track of group loot if no one else will. But it would be nice to have help on that front.
Also, I've decided to not do experience awards and go off of what the AP says where your supposed to be. I hope that would be agreeable to everyone, as it would take a load off of me and calculating those rewards (and also less book keeping and what not).
Caladrel Wintergrasp
I'll volunteer to keep track of loot, if it will help.
---------------------------------------
I'm fine with whatever you wanna do for xp. I like your point of being able to reward unique solutions. But I don't want you to pull your hair out trying to keep track of the xp either. I say, go with whatever your most comfortable with.
----------------------------------------
bird doesn't bother me. what bothers me is not knowing whether giving the bird the ring will be:
bad - because she use it to cause problems, possibly a hook to recover the ring IF we save the princess.
good - because it will gain favor with the witch that will help us in an encounter down the road.
DM is doing a great job so far, please keep it up.
I fully expect a consequence, something around lvl 8 or so, to read: "remember after your 1st encounter, there was a bird witch who wanted a signet ring? Well guess what..."
I'll be losing sleep till then, trying to figure out what will happen.

created link to a google doc for party loot under my name.
--------------------------------
If DM wants to put a link on top of thread he can, or if everyone would like it somewhere else... just say where.
--------------------------------
This is my 1st google doc ever! It looks like I can add people to "permissions" if you want me to make it so everyone can add/remove stuff from it. May want to keep the permissions to me and/or GM, that way a post can be made when someone "takes" an item so everyone is aware of it.
--------------------------------
I put the market price of each item in parenthesis next to each item. As of right now, if anyone wants "take" anything. Just let me know and I'll remove it and you can add it to your character sheet. Or I can mark the item on the sheet as being in _____'s possession.
--------------------------------
Might be a good time to ask:
Do we want party members to contribute fair price in gp for items?
Free for all (1st to claim, take it)?
Sell items when possible (clear inventory) and distribute earnings equally?
Sell items when possible and keep a party fund for use when needed?
Banking system (when you take something, I place an "I.O.U." in your name, and when able you pay off your debt?
Any other suggestions?
---------------------------------
@DM - can you please post value of jewelry box items, so I can update the stuff I can'r put a value on?
Grandma Mable
I am also fine with the bird. I just wanted to make sure I was not upsetting anyone while I take the time to negotiate. I have a feeling we will have to go collect the ring later if we give it to the bird. If everyone is ok with that I will give the bird the ring.
As far as loot is concerned, we are a group and what benifits one may save everyone. I don't think someone should have to repay the group for an item. If you can use it you should. On the other hand if a lot of people can use it,maybe a discussion of who has not gotten anything recently or who would benifit the group most by having the item.
Caladrel Wintergrasp
These are all different ways I've seen loot handled in past groups, just suggestions.
If you can use it you should. On the other hand if a lot of people can use it,maybe a discussion of who has not gotten anything recently or who would benifit the group most by having the item.
I agree with you Mable, if a character would like to use an item the group aquired, they should.
I personally thought the "repay" system worked out very nicely. For that, we had players pay the value to sell the item (1/2 purchase price). This way distribution of the "value" of items is completely fair.
i.e. - our party recently found a masterwork chain shirt and masterwork dagger, plus other mundane items. (for ease of math, lets assume party could recieve 500gp for masterwork items and 50gp for mundane items). If same player takes master work items, each players fair share would be 10gp vs 110gp, and the player using the items would effectivly have recieved 510gp vs 10gp for every other player.
It may seem a bit petty or complicated, but it IS a very fair way to spread the wealth.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro
@ Caladrel: You guys don't know what the value of the items are yet. You have to appraise them. Besides, didn't you guys have a discussion about returning them to the lady after you rescue her (maybe minus the ring...)?
Will put party loot at the top where you suggested. I'll get that up in a minute.
Caladrel Wintergrasp
You guys don't know what the value of the items are yet. You have to appraise them
good point, didn't even think about that. I'll leave them un-valued for now.
did anyone else take anything besides:
Raseri - masterwork chain shirt
Varian Seldlon
ah yes, I did take the 25 bolts. I'll need to split them with sevante it seems.
Sevante
Sevante is fine with 5 bolts... and he has claimed a crossbow and a studded leather.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro
Sorry about the wait. Sevante still hasn't posted yet...
For future reference, my policy when it comes to combat is to post at least once a day. If you miss a day I will pilot you the next if you haven't posted by the time I get to ya, K. Its just so we can keep things moving along and so others aren't waiting for ya.
Sevante
Sorry long day at work that culminated in a migraine... the joys of moving abroad. I hope things move along now.
Caladrel Wintergrasp
Waving both hands over a cloudy crystal ball...
"I see karma rewarding you with multiple crit rolls in the near future, as compensation for the low rolls!"
or we hope, anyway
Varian Seldlon
none about you. Just about ridiculous perception check DCs at level 1 <,< lol
Caladrel Wintergrasp
working well, except for the dice rollers, but I wouldn't blame the DM for that... yet.
Varian Seldlon
My first group always had a think for bad dice rolls.
"when the GM wants you to succeed and do well, the dice will roll poorly,"
And "when the GM wants to put your character in his place, and make you scratch and bleed for that Mcguffin, the dice will hand it to you on a silver platter"
lol
this is because a 2nd level encounter that included 5 goblins (fighter 1) with shortbows up in a ceiling rafter almost killed our entire party. (group of 5 mind you) We had to come back the day after XD. When we fought the BBEG +3 minions, we rolled like, 5 20s in a row. (around the table). It was a thing ever since then haha
Sevante
It seems to be going well but I feel if we had more than three enemies giving each a separate turn could be problematic... but each turn in order has worked fairly well, surprisingly.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro
I think its been working so far due in part to you guys. You have been keeping up on posts and combat hasn't been a slog because of it. Thank you for being such wonderful players.
Also, I didn't see any need to start grouping yet, but you will see some enemy grouping in the future.... particularly with bandits and what not. There are too many of them not too.... *Hint, Hint...*
Raseri Whitescale
Same here. Congrats on the new niece/nephew!
Caladrel Wintergrasp
no worries... take whatever time you need. Real Life (understandably) usually takes priority over this.
although...
when you get back, we will have done enough random encounters on our own without you, that we should be ready for level 2! :)
help me out here guys... everyone LOVES it when their character gains a level!
Sevante
Sorry busy weekend. I can have something up by this evening.
Caladrel Wintergrasp
Not that it would change Rasari's last attack, but...
As a general suggestion to everyone. If you can delay or ready your attacks until after Caladrel goes... I will debuff enemy. This would go for ANY combat. Not just this one.
I'm going to go ahead and post my action. As if everyone delayed, but of course if you would prefer, you can always post your actions as if they occurred before my hex.
Sevante
I can't do anything until next round anyways... nothing's close by.
Varian Seldlon
lol its fine. I got a little bit of love myself finally, the DC for the acrobatics is the CMD of the pixies things
Caladrel Wintergrasp
sense motive: DM: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
As far as I know, he's telling the truth about not controlling the dice roller!
Raseri Whitescale
What are you talking about? All DMs can contro-- I mean, that's exactly right! He cannot control the outcome of our rolls. ;D
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro
Oh come now we all know you control the random dice generator!
What are you talking about? All DMs can contro-- I mean, that's exactly right! He cannot control the outcome of our rolls. ;D
Um..... I mean... Ya! That's right! I'm the table god after all.
Tremble at my ability to control dice probability! Lol!
Caladrel Wintergrasp
you CAN finesse scimitars. It requires:
Benefit: When wielding a scimitar with one hand, you can use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on melee attack and damage rolls. You treat the scimitar as a one-handed piercing weapon for all feats and class abilities that require such a weapon (such as a duelist’s precise strike ability). The scimitar must be for a creature of your size. You cannot use this feat if you are carrying a weapon or shield in your off hand.
Sevante
Which he can't just switch out for at this level... sadly.
And let's bow down in worship of our dice and game master's graciousness in allowing us to hit.
Darrian Masters Dungeon Maestro
you CAN finesse scimitars. It requires:
** spoiler omitted **
Yes, but that's with all of the prerequisites involved besides weapon finesse.... and something tells me he might not want ranks in dance or have to wait till level 2...
I was also saying that you can Weapon finesse a dueling sword because it has the special ability to do so.
