Your GM just spent 30 minutes typing up a long post that the paizo site "ate" while I was proofreading it...so I'm going to go sit in a corner and cry for a minute or two and then try to start over from scratch. Figures that it happens the one time in 50 that I don't write a post in an email-to-myself or text-document and then copy-paste it. *sigh*

Over an hour after I wanted to try recomposing, but here goes...

Viper makes good headway in her conversation with Iteration-177, but even though Ytchkn makes a lively story of it, she isn't able to really make it sound all that impressive - even with X5NSA's help.

Torqe's player did tell me to bot him as I best saw fit, and I am 99% certain that his player owns a Starfinder T-shirt, so he'd try to use a reroll to aid Ytchkn's last Diplomacy check!
Diplomacy to aid: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9

I meant to say that I'm using my VC polo shirt to allow Torqe to reroll to aid...
Diplomacy to aid: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11

Whoa! The dice changed from when I wrote the original post!! Originally Torqe's rerolls were 11 and 8 (for results of 9 and 6)!!!

Just when it seemed that Ytchkn's story was boring Iteration-177, Torqe comes in from out of nowhere and adds a bit of context that was seemingly missed...causing Iteration-177 to laugh, understanding completely now!

You have successfully influenced all five guests by the hair on your chinny-chin-chins!

If you want to check out the "scoreboard" - I left it open here. The discovery DCs were 10 (+1 piece of info for every 5 you beat the DC by) and the initial influence DC was 17 (adjusted by how many checks were made using the same skill). Four successes means you get them, but three failures means they're out. The GM can award anywhere from a +1 to +4 for roleplay, which I was doing on many of your posts. It literally came down to that last roll on Iteration-177!

After the aspis android exits the conversation, your comm units buzz on the channel you share with the Obsidian Spiders. Radaszam wants to speak with you in one of the side corridors that run alongside the Skyreach room. Once you arrive, the burly vesk doesn't mince words.

“We’ve got a situation on our hands. I’ve been following rumors of a somewhat notorious assassin who only recently showed up on Absalom Station. I just heard from one of my contacts that signs point to the First Seeker as the assassin’s next target—and if that’s the case, the assassin will almost certainly make a move tonight.

“Now here’s the thing. I’ve got enough security here that no one’s really in any danger; and besides, Luwazi’s no stranger to a fight. But it’d look really bad for the Society if someone took at shot at her in front of all these high-ups, you know what I mean?

“On the other hand, if a team of crack Starfinders were to investigate the rumors and unmask the assassin, we’d be able to show that we can still hold our own and add some, oh, let’s say, gravitas to the First Seeker’s announcement tonight. Defeat this assassin in style, impress the investors, make yourselves look good in the process... What do you say?”

If you accept:
Radaszam relays the information he has about the assassin: a particularly hard-to-trace individual known as Triloteya, traced to a rented engineering bay in the Sparks district. He provides the address and urges you to check out the location, hoping you will find enough evidence to identify the assassin and their plans. Once they’ve checked out the space, you can contact him via comm unit to plan your next steps.

If you don't accept:
Radaszam scowls in your direction, reminding you that your team was invited to this gala to demonstrate what Starfinders can do and that this is a perfect opportunity to do exactly that. He acknowledges concerns for your safety and skills, assuring you that he won’t throw you in over your heads, and once he knows more about the exact threat, you can work together to contain it. Please open the "If you accept" spoiler at the sound of the chime. *chime*

You can ask a question or two if you'd like, but in the meantime, Radaszam has some gifts for you from him and the First Seeker for how well you did with the guests during the gala:

If you ask, Radaszam refuses to disclose the names or identity of his contacts, but he insists that the individuals are trustworthy and the information is solid.

You hack into security systems - not an easy task given that this is all on board Absalom Station - and find that this bay is far away from any security cameras, but its proximity to the central Spike that runs the length of the station means that searching every feed for potential occupants could take you hours if not days. Great idea, though!

Sigma Mu and Ytchkn - feel free to still make rolls if you'd like - you'll get the information prior to the scene starting below:

After the journey through increasingly industrial elevators, your team arrives in the rough-and-tumble neighborhood of Sparks. The air carries a distinctive metallic tang of mechanical industry sharp chemical smells, and the stale odors of countless living beings crammed into too-tight spaces. The corrugated metal corridors are cramped, with ceilings only 10 feet high and lit only with stark LED lighting strips; the grinding, clanging, clattering sounds of countless engineers at work carry through the halls. As you make your way to the address given to you, the number of other people thin out, until you are alone.

The stained plastic door of this engineering bay is no different from the dozens lining the grimy hallway. A glaring LED lighting strip illuminates the address code imprinted along the doorframe. Every few seconds, this light, along with all the others along the corridor, flickers briefly. Though the sounds of industry still echo through the corridors, this section clearly sees less traffic and is currently devoid of passersby.

So... Two things...

First - this is a kind of good news by-way-of bad news thing. Bad news - Supercharge Weapon only lasts for 1 round. Good news - I know that people are still getting used to Starfinder mechanics and as such am totally fine with Sigma Mu having held off casting that spell until right before an attempt to open the doors was made. As such, Sigma, you can reposition yourself wherever you'd like to prior to the below happening.

Second - unfortunately all bad here. I was delaying posting in the hopes that someone would make a perception check to look around a bit more before trying the door, but...

X5 advances to the door and finds that the lock can be accessed either electronically via a computer pad, or with engineering know-how. Fortunately for him, his engineering skills are up to the task in order to open the lock. Unfortunately for him, making any sort of physical contact (without disabling the trap first) completes the electrocution-trap circuit that was drawing intermittently from the local district's power supply!

ZZZZORRRRT: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 3) = 13 Electricity Damage to X5NSA!
A DC 13 Reflex save will reduce this to 6 Electricity Damage

A sharp jolt of electricity shoots out of the door and strikes X5NSA, but then both sets of doors unlock and swing open, revealing the engineering bay inside;

Rusted crates and plastic barrels crowed this cramped workspace. Discarded R2E packaging, beverage pouches, and packing material litter the space. A ledge along the south wall holds a stack of rubber mats in an approximation of a bed beside a high-quality industrial backpack. Ragged wires droop from an exposed conduit along the northern wall, occasionally showering the room in sparks as the lights flicker.

Two winged serpentine creatures hover in the room, chewing on exposed wires. Once the doors unseal, they shriek and move to attack!

Can a couple of us pile on and attempt to assist Triskid to push his perception over the 27?

I am okay with that. I'm also okay with you taking 10 or 20, as long as you're okay with taking that amount of time ;)

X5 pulls out a tier 2 computer of my own, and attempt to hack the firewall.

if there is no problem with reattempts given that I've bypassed the firewall, I would try again.

X5 is able to crack the firewall, and finds records of infosphere searches for a human woman named Sanivvi Acheosi, a tawny-skinned woman with wildly curly hair currently residing on Castrovel, and several pages of instructions and videos for styling curly hair.

Perception DC 19:
You recognize this individual! You saw a staffer at the gala who matches this appearance working on the audiovisual setup for the event!!

Unfortunately, X5 fails to hack the secure module behind the firewall twice, meaning that only one attempt remains before the computer shuts down entirely.

Sigma Mu works on the secure data module, and successfully hacks into it!

The module contains a file with a list of names, dates, and locations, cumulating with an alarming entry: “Luwazi Elsebo; Lorespire Complex, Skyreach Room, gala” and the present date. With a few minutes of research using the local infosphere, you ascertain that every individual on the list is recently deceased, save for Luwazi; the obituary dates and locations correspond with the dates and locations in the files, but the causes of death are widely varied. Most notably, those few that are documented as homicides all list radically different perpetrators: individuals of varying gender, race, and background.

Also, as a reminder since my RL issues caused us a bit of a delay...

"I will take care of it," Sigma responds.

Sigma hastily contacts Radaszam to inform him that he will be receiving a hit list and picture of the assassin in short order on his personal comm device.

"Please forward on to whomever you see fit. We should be returning to the Lorespire Complex momentarily."

Sigma Mu also makes sure everyone has a copy of the files and pictures on their own personal comm devices.

Your team salvages the material from the door, but you learn that this close to the machinery that keeps Absalom Station running - there is too much interference to connect to Radaszam via your comm units!

You race back to the elevators and begin the 10 minute trek back to the Lorespire Complex (you can spend a Resolve point to regain your stamina if you would like during this time) and are able to raise the Obsidian Spiders on comms partway through. Radaszam takes in all the information silently, then arranges to meet you just outside one of the elevators that open into the service corridors outside the Skyreach room.

When you arrive, the vesk is there to meet you as planned, but so are Royo and a drone sent from Naiaj. The drone distributes one Mk 1 Serum of Healing to each of you (except X5's drone) and then departs. Royo shows your team a technical readout of the explosives you've identified from their wrappers and instructions. He informs you that this particular model of explosive is very stable to kinetic damage and can be safely disarmed by simply smashing it hard enough, but he also notes that any kind of energy damage is likely to detonate them upon impact. With that, he returns to the party so as to keep up appearances that nothing is wrong.

Radaszam tells you that the First Seeker has also been informed and that she is delaying her announcement. Next, he asks your team for how you would like to proceed with the situation!

I recommend we seek out and disarm or smash any explosive devices we can find. Once that is complete, apprehend the AV technician. We should attempt to be coy about locating the explosives but someone should remain within range of the technician in case she notices something amiss and attempts to detonate them remotely of flee.
