Hanzo tosses the bundle to Rolo.
Take it. I will be fine as I am, I believe.
With that business out of the way, Hanzo starts to seriously inspect the markings.

After studying the remaining pictures and deciding who´s going to wear the cape, the group continues deeper in the cave.
The soft light of the surrounding fungus mixes with the flickering glow of the nearby torches to reveal a grand chamber. A large pool of water along the chamber’s southern edge reflects the blue and green radiance to illuminate the massive stalactites that cling to the ceiling overhead. In the middle of the pool you can see a man, kneelig in the water and wathching to te opposite wall, he had not note your presence.
Two other tunnels branch off from this area, leading to the east and west. Rising up from the pool is a column of rock with steeply sloped sides and a flat top, as if someone had sawn off the top of a massive stalagmite. A miniature city carved from this same stone occupies nearly the entire surface. Tiny trinkets such as ancient coins, polished semiprecious stones, and ornately braided loops of string are scattered throughout the diorama, and pale cave frogs clamber atop it. The smooth cavern floor is covered in gravel and pebbles along the edge of the pool, and several foot-long centipedes prowl among the gravel in their search for prey.

Emmett steps forward, huge grin on his face.
"Howdy, sir! Whatch doing in the water? Don't mind us - we are friendly sorts. Just explorers, really. My name's Emmett, but people call me Doc. These here are my friends..."

Hanzo slips to the side of the room, staying in the shadows and staying hidden from the man. If he's a threat, all the better to surprise him. If he's not... Well, better safe than sorry.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
As he does so, he shifts into his snake combat style.

Oykiv |

I moved you as I think it fits your descriptions, but please, move yourselves just in case it matters
The man says nothing, he even not make any movement wich could be interpreted as could have nted you´re at his back. He stays in the same place, kneeling in the water and looking directly to the wall in front him.

Just got home. Unfortunately I can't do much with Google Docs while at work so I should have clarified as to where I had wanted to go.
Looks like he's ignoring us. Let's see if this gets his attention.
Saans takes his free hand, and sticks his index finger and ring finger into his mouth. A loud, shrill whistle is then blown, echoing throughout the cavern.

"Either he is in deep meditation, or deaf."
Unless he is one of those wizard tricks!
Emmett looks around for any other signs of life.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

![]() |

Currently at work, could someone place me behind our new friend?
Stepping behind the person, Saans pitch his hand on their left shoulder.
That seems to be some deep meditation skills you have. Mind if we ask a few questions?

Oykiv |

Emmet can´t find anything else in the room.
Winella focuses can see there´s magic in man, being the most powerful aura the one emited wy a wand in his belt.
Saans: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Hanzo: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Lars: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Emmet perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
kneeling man perpection: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (20) - 3 = 17
All of you can see how the Gillman turns to you as Rolo and Saans walks in front of him. She stares firmly at Saans as he answers.
Yes, you cand ask questions, but first tell me something.
Why is he trying to hide behind the columns. Then he points to Hanzo. Better luck next time ;D

![]() |

It seems that he is a tad distrusting of strangers in a cave. Personally, I would as well, but since you didn't do anything when I touched you, I don't think you would hurt us. By the way, why didn't you answer when we were calling out to you? That's some deep meditation you have going on.
Saans is genuine about asking the Gillman the question, as it is rare that no one would turn around after being yelled at, or whistled to in his experience.

![]() |

Hanzo steps out and nods to the man.
Because threats are more easily handled when there is a blade in the shadows. Had you proved to be that threat, I would have been the blade.
The monk strides toward the Gillman, never leaving his combat stance but sheathing his temple sword.

"So you were asleep? Or maybe dead! Oh, wait, that doesn't make sense..." Lars's voice drops to a low mutter, but he looks down at his armor unconsciously and his eyes widen. "Or maybe you were dead, and you didn't know it...Or just deaf, or something," he adds, embarrassed.
"So, what're you doing here, friend?"

![]() |

"Yes Lars... He was dead... You are just so adorable!
Winella says to him with a smile
Now I definitely know who to stand behind, Dead??? wow...
Looking back to the man,
"I see you eyeing that cape, do you know where it came from? What brings you here?"

Oykiv |

The gillmen looks amused to Lars, not knowing what to say to his "reasoning". Fortunately for him, he can focus in answer Rolo and Winella.
I´m here in my pilgrinage, coming for wisdom. And that cape shoulh have came from another pilgrim. Who? Idon´t know.
And what about you? What brings you to this cave?

![]() |

"Why, we came to make friends with you! We are just trying to learn more about you. We are explorers, and were interested in your culture. "

![]() |

Hanzo exits his stance and speaks up.
I found the cape in a pit on the way here. I gave it to my friend because I need it not. We are pathfinders, and were sent here to learn of this cave and its secret. Our superiors have noticed many Gillmen coming and leaving this cave, and we're curious as to why. We mean no harm, only knowledge.

Oykiv |

So you have came here searching for knowledge?
Well, this is not aplace of knowledge, but of wisdom and misticim. This is a sacred place for my people, as it was a sacred placed for Aroden. But his influence has been fading in the last century, with his sacred carvings weathering and dissapearing. And it sees soon Aroden´s influence will go away completly.
We came to this sacred pond, were spring water and wisdom flows interconnected. Here, every gillman found wisdom in a different way. I was hearing the waters, trying to "hear" something important for my life or my people. Is not that I really hear anything, it haven´t since many years ago, but is the best way I can describe what I feel.
As you came closer, is posible to see the altar is an intricately detailed model of Absalom, easily identifiable by its Starstone Cathedral

![]() |

Knowledge, Untrained: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Saans looks over at the small city model in the pool of water.
That model in the water, I believe is Absalom, is it not? Why would that be here, in the mountains, rather than the city proper?

![]() |

"Look, I can see my house from up here!"
I have played this before, so I will defer actions to those who have not yet experienced it.

![]() |

Hanoi peers down at it, trying to figure out for himself what exactly it is, and why it's in this cave.
No idea. Your guess is as good as mine.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

![]() |

Three of us inspected the city and expressed interest in why it was in the cave. However, looking at our posts, I realize that we didn't make it very clear and it could just be a language misinterpreted. I'll make it a little more clear. :)
Hanzo lets his two friends speak, and then looks at the gillman, and asks his own questions. He judges the Gillman's answer, looking for any sign of lies.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
That is a model of the City, of Absalom, is it not? Why is it in your cave of wisdom and pilgrimage?

Oykiv |

Sorry, I thought you were asking the rest of the group
It looks similar, yes. I´m not sure why is here, it has been here the first time I came, and it continues here. I think it should have some relationship with the reliefs you must have seen in the previous cave, but I´m never been very interested in man´s gods

![]() |

Does my sense motive check reveal anything?
You don't find it strange that there is a model of a human city in your cave of wisdom and worship?

Oykiv |

He´s not lying, and he´s a little ambiguous about talking of human gods and city, as if this kinds of things are of no interest to him.
Staring at Emmet he answers; The first time I came here, yes, the city and the reliefs looks strange to me but now I´m used to it. Years ago I thought this could be a sacred place for terrestrials like you and your friends, bit you´re the first I see and it looks you don´t know why are here the city or the reliefs, so I should been wrong
When Winnella catches his attention, he turns to see her face and, after having “hear” her, he answers; Not one of my people gods are here, but you don´t always need gods to look for wisdom, don´t you?
Winella, the gillman is clearly male. You don´t know a lot of this race, but you know they have the same external differences between males and females than the humnas

![]() |

I agree with that statement. The gods themselves haven't shown me any visions, nor guided me. Besides, I'd rather trust mortals in our affairs, than the gods, whoever they are.
Saans seems to have some sort of disdain for the deities, but doesn't go into sharing as to why. The man also seems a bit antsy, since it has been confirmed as being a somewhat holy place.
Saans is agnostic, and tends to be uncomfortable around anything involving the modern deities.

![]() |

Emmett, fascinated by this new race, makes many notes in his journal.
When the gillman is looking at him again, we says, slowly and enunciated (and a little too loudly), "We are pleased to make your acquaintance, and hope that the Pathfinders and Gillmen can be friends for a long time! Is there anything else you wonder about our people? We would be happy to answer questions. And, are there more of your people nearby? Or is this a place of solitude for you?"

Oykiv |

The other option is more fun ;D, but call him as you prefer
hanks for the offer, but the answers I´m looking for are not about your people. I´m the only one of my people here, as I came here to meditate
Is not hard to note he´s not in very friendly with armed strangers wich came to interrupt him, but he isn´t specially unfriendly, just dont talk a lot.

Hanzo thinks to himself, while looking around the room once more, and then speaks to the gillman.
This is getting nowhere fast...
Well, we are here to explore this place and report our findings. You don't mind us doing so, do you?

![]() |

Hanzo begins to make his way toward the right exit, looking around as he goes.
