Well let's give Gilly here a light! I reach into my pack and pull out one of the pitch wrapped torches and with my flint and steel, I spark it till it lights....moving up a bit closer to the the gnome and Gilly...hoping that the light allows for more clear communication.....

![]() |

Now that the deaf hillman can read your lips, perhaps Diplomacy is in order?

![]() |

Samiya puts her smile on full brightness.
"Hello! We are so sorry to bother you, we only wanted to seek shelter while we wait for our friend to arrive and to explore this cave system. Do you mind if we ask a few questions? We have only peaceful intentions, we are from the Pathfinders League, if you know what that is."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

![]() |

Daru will offer a helpful smile and nod appreciatively.
Aid Another-Diplomacy: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11
Gotta say, I take perverse pleasure in adding that negative three to the roll...

![]() |

But I will try to resist the call to be the party's "face".

![]() |

It's quiet out there...too quiet. Daru's getting twitchy: might need to chuck a bomb soon, just to see what happens...

![]() |

Sorry:
The gillman explains in a halting, overly loud voice that "You have entered a site sacred to the gillmen. It was once sacred to Aroden, the dead god of humanity, as well, but over the past century, the carvings in the nearby room have weathered and melted, soon Aroden’s influence will have faded completely."
It is hard to tell whether he is sad or simply confused by the revelation as he speaks about the god he apparently worships. One way or another, he continues on, "Other creatures have invaded the caves and are not so polite as your kind. You should push them away so I can listen to the sacred water in peace."

![]() |

Fetching his chicken, Findlefarb nods and replies, "What can you tell us about the impolite creatures? And is there something that can be done to preserve the archaeological treasure of the carvings?"

![]() |

Findlefarb looks around and grows uncharacteristically stern. "Okay, you know what? We are going to destroy those undead. We are going to find a way to preserve these frescoes. I can't just sit here and let these precious artifacts just rot away. Look at the beauty! The history! I will protect this place, or my name isn't Fenwick Findlefarb Tippletree Woogodoo Nanoquick Balnibarbi Kruknik Whoopsalittleovertotheleftnexttime Nashizzar, the Fourth."
Turning to the tiefling alchemist, "Daru! What's in the pack that will help?"

![]() |

"It's chock full of goodies, all of them conveniently labeled:
potion of barkskin,
potions of cure light wounds (2),
potion of feather step,
potion of vanish,
scroll of entangle,
scroll of gust of wind,
scroll of identify,
scroll of mage armor (CL 6),
scroll of obscuring mist,
wand of burning hands (CL 3rd, 3 charges),
wand of cure light wounds (CL 3rd, 8 charges),
acid,
alchemist’s fire (2),
holy water,
smokestick,
tanglefoot bag,
thunderstone
If you don't mind, I'd like to use the acid, alchemist fire and holy water, because I do good damage with those. Can't use the scrolls. Could use the cure light wound wand, though I'm thinking I'll be busy chucking things to kill stuff...it's kinda my thing.
Daru makes a point of not giving the bag to the prankster until the group decides how to divvy it up...don't want the labels to accidentally get mixed up. No offense. :^)

![]() |

oh yeah...lots of great things...if you are the spell slinging type.....but you know...I could have one of them potions or bottles of healing...might come in handy if I act like a meat shiled for you casting types...
I would like to use or take one of the potions of cure light wounds please

![]() |

FYI: By "good damage", Alchemists add the INT to damage with splash weapons, including adding INT to the splash damage, so even a miss is doing decent damage

![]() |

Findlefarb smiles. "I know how to use a cure wand, just fine! I'll handle that! I might just be able to read the scrolls, too, but Samiya can take those she understands. I know I figured out the burning wand, but perhaps it would be a natural in Samiya's hands. With Hammerdas and Titus up front, they can use the potions. The splashing items, definitely yours, Daru.
I'm thinking for myself, the cure wand, entangle scroll, and the tanglefoot bag and thunderstone would be good."

The cave’s damp air becomes increasingly stale as you continue down through this tunnel, and as you approach this area, the stench of decay grows increasingly evident. The passage turns to the east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper, and other unusable detritus. The body of a male dhampir lies facedown toward the back of the cavern.

![]() |

Daru starts muttering quietly to herself. "OhcrapOhcrapOhcrap. Keepittogether, Daru, keep it together. It'll be okay. What would Apsu do?" With a grunt, Daru quickly whips out a vial and drinks it.

Samiya wrinkles her nose at the shambling corpse things. "Why always with the dead things? So, I don't know...gross. We should use this terrain to our advantage, funnel them to us!"
She gracefully raises her arm as if to point out the direction that the Undead are approaching from, and the tip of her finger begins to glow like a hot coal in a flame.
She smirks, waiting for one the the creatures to show it's face so she can burn it's features from it's skull.
Hold action to fire elemental ray at first target that shows itself

Awwww by Iomedae's sweet fourth point of contact, it looks like we found the neighborhood welcoming committee!!...Say not that I mind being in the rear...but any of you mind if I push my way up and lets fall back a bit and use the passage a choke oint where we can channel them to us....so that we can mass our efforts with unity on a single target or two at a time...
I shuffle my way forward as best I can....dong my best to not board or check any of my comrades into the cavern walls while at the same time..i unhook the light mace from my belt...my fingers curl around the weapon...I feel my blood surge....and I prepare to destroy what should already be dead.
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
my shield up....I look for the nearest target to unleash on...waiting...waiting for them to step up and to unleash upon...
C'mon you podexii... ..coiled like a spring..I await to unleash...tapping my weapon on the brass edging on my layered tower shield...

I posted at work, so I didn't read everybody else's posts. I just wanted to get my actions in, so I wouldn't slow the game down. Now that I have had time to read everyone's posts, it seems that there was a plan in place. Oh well, that's a barbarian for you. Sorry, it wasn't my intent to mess up the plan, but it does seem to fit Hammerdas. In the future I'll pay better attention.
Also, if it matters, Inspire Courage was not factored into my above rolls.

![]() |

Right you all go before the undead. No surprise round, so unleash. If you hold to I it 11 remember findlefarb's inspire....

Daru steps up and when she spots the zombies so helpfully bunched up, heaves a bomb at the one to the west.
"Fire in the hole!"
bomb attack, i.e. range touch: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 20
bomb damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8
Splash damage=7, reflex save DC=16 for half for the zombie to the east

![]() |

Zombie reflex: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
Not altogether unexpectedly, the zombie fails to dodge a bomb thrown by Daru whilst a humble skeleton is simply crushed to powder by a rather large flying anvil. Findle plays a lovely jig that soon has everyone feet tapping, and seems to bolster morale quite a bit! Samiya's elemental ray catches one of the skeletons directly in the skull, as she had hoped, and ignites the bone like so much brittle tinder. The smoke creates a horrid stench for just a moment, then what is left of the beast crumples the the ground in a smoldering heap.
Since Samiya referenced a skull I will assume she shot and killed a Skeleton. Correct me if I am wrong, please.
The slow plod of undead to their intended targets seems to be all they are able to accomplish.
Zombies are staggered, so all they get is the move action to close. Party is up!

![]() |

I surge past the two ladies and step up...striking out at the Eastern Most Skeleton to my immediate front.
Feratta!! I swing the mace....its weight at the end giving it a different feel as I thighen and then snap my wrist in the fingergs over thumb interlocking grip
Attack Role: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
using power attack so I did not add in the bard attack bonus as it cancelled out the Power attack attack feat penalty

Daru takes a 5' step back, uses a move action to pull out the holy water, and standard action chucks it at the easternmost zombie by Hammerdas.
holy water range touch: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 22
holy water damage: 2d4 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 5 + 1 = 11

Her eyes light up at the whirlwind of violence that is taking place. With a flash of a smile she fires off another ray of energy at the zombie closest to her.

Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8

"Watch out for that anvil! Ooh, too slow! Wow, spending time dead really is murder on the joints, isn't it? You'd really think they'd know better than to, I don't know, stand in the path of a falling heavy hunk of steel!"
Keeping up his morale, he holds position and gets ready to fire an arrow at the first zombie who crosses his field of vision.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 - 4 = 3 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

The remaining zombies are quickly brought down in a brilliant flash of holy water, magic, and brute force.
Among the fallen bodies, you locate a note written by the dhampir that details plans to start an army of undead made from the “fish people” who have been frequenting this cave.
In addition, the GM should either randomly select two pieces of treasure from the following list or choose two items that would best suit the PCs: a quiver containing 20 +1 arrows, a +1 light crossbow, a +1 light wooden shield, a +1 longsword, a suit of +1 studded leather armor, bracers of armor +1, an elixir of swimming, an amulet of natural armor +1, a pearl of power (1st-level spell), or a ring of protection +1.
There does not appear to be an archer, so eliminating arrows and Crossbow. Also eliminating the Elixir of Swimming, which leaves [1] +1 Shield, [2]+1 Longsword, [3]+1 Studded Leather Armor, [4] Bracers of Armor +1, [5] +1 Amulet of Natural Armor, [6] Pearl of Power, and [7] Ring of Protection +1
1d7: 1d7 ⇒ 5 Amulet of Natural Armor
1d6: 1d6 ⇒ 1 +1 Wooden Shield

"Necklaces are for girls and shields are for princes!", Hammerdas boasts. But anyone paying attention will see the Ulfen measuring with his hands to see if the amulet will fit around his neck. He lets out a grin and quickly erases it when he sees that it will.

![]() |

well....that shield is a bit too small for me...but amulets...well, I am all for wearing anything that give me a edge...or protects my beautiful self from being too marred.. I have enough scars to prove my manlyness..that said...a few of you all are a bit underdress for a close and personal fight....so...i will pass unless nobody else wishes to use the useful stuff....shame there was not a well balanced spatha/longsword to be had

![]() |

From further down the tunnels, you are about to barely make out the sounds of combat.

![]() |

Is the shield sized for medium creatures or small ones? If the former, Daru would be happy to use it, if the latter, Findlefarb should grab it...
"Lead on brave ones. And Hammerdas, may your anvil always strike as true as a hammer on an--er, um, well, an anvil," Daru's voice trails off, though you do hear her muttering curses at herself. "Nice one, you moron. Hammer on anvil. DUH. So clever, aren't you...stupidstupidstupid"
