The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"Well, that would be easier if they had wheels. We can always ask the healers what they think we should do. I mean, they have to realize what an enormous task feeding the Sunwake kids is..."

While the staff was a bit resistant to the idea at first, when faced with the full implications of the nutritional needs of the Sunwake triplets they became much more focused on finding a solution to the problem. Within a few minutes they managed to unearth a hover chair, a strange wheelbarrow like contraption, and a wheeled cot that could be used to transport the siblings to the cafeteria.

"Ok then here we go!" Pushes Ephebe's hover-deal to the cafeteria...to get her some pancakes

"The time bubbles would only be created by certain conditions. I would not wish to create temporal distortions. For example if a certain area with in range would suddenly be attacked then the whole area would be frozen in time by the time bubble. Unless the time bubble is dealt with then the area is safe. But if you find them an annoyance then I will not add that feature."

Solivala takes another moment.

"Define reasonable?"

My name is Solivala and I have a problem building things. XD

Indeed.

"Since you put it that way, I will consider it when I have the time. And no, that does not mean you should put me in a time bubble."

"Reasonable: Within reason. Do not maim, dismember, or kill the other students. Non-lethal means are the best, and avoiding fights are even better."

Ephebe wrote:

"Ammy?" Taron asks his psicrystal. The tiny crystalline gargoyle jumps off of it's pillow into a portal. "Razule will send some kegs up to the cafeteria. I got the impression he's trying to reverse the accidental fusion of a student and a beaker, so it's a good thing he usually keeps some of the juice brewed. Now, if you will excuse me, I'm going to sleep until we get tot he cafeteria." Taron just barely keeps from collapsing on the means of transportation provided him by the infirmiry staff.

After demolishing a mountain or three of pancakes, and a keg or two of her favorite energy drink, she found that she was feeling a bit better. Not get up and go to class better. She was still experiencing a lot of disorientation. But as bad as she felt now, she was starting to actually believe that it was going to get better. She even laughed when Jimmy fell asleep while eating. He ended up with oatmeal in his hair as he snored, his face resting on a plate of french toast.

"Very well, I will start building as soon as I am given the guidelines and location. I have already been given my classes, if that is all I will take my leave."

I have no idea what time it is in game. If its night he will mostly wonder around, if its day he will go to whatever class he has.

Your conversation with the Headmaster took place after classes so it was evening. Current time is breakfast just before classes.

I believe it is either late afternoon or early evening. The fact Ephebe was just eating pancakes could mean it's morning though(or just the draconic equivalent of a sweet-tooth).

"That is all. I will look for a suitable place for your tower. It was nice meeting you. You are excused." Ryo says with a smile. He gestures with his hand and the door to his office opens on it's own. "I hope you will enjoy your time here at Avalon."

Oh good everyone gets a breakfast surprise. ;)

Solivala makes his way to the cafeteria, his swarm having mapped the school during their earlier scouting. Once he enters he sits at an empty table his orbs orbiting slowly as they collect data on everyone. Creating profiles and assigning threat levels while Solivala waits for the start of classes. He had History of Agartha first, he wondered how much he had missed if he had in fact lost over a century of normal time. Granted time effected little for him but he did not like having out of date information.

Off to one side of the cafeteria there is a table filled with what should be enough food to feed the entire student body. This is being steadily demolished by one young woman and two young men all apparently human in appearance and all bearing a slight resemblance to the woman who had enrolled him. They are joined at the table by a kobold a red-haired female and a dark-haired male, but all of those seem to be consuming a more normal amount of food.

She cursed silently. She had overslept her alarm clock. Normally she tried to get here early enough to grab a muffin or something and go so she wouldn't have to deal with her former thralls. But now she had to figure out some way to keep clear of them especially the weres. She deftly avoided being tripped by Kori the wererat and barely kept all the things on her breakfast tray from spilling. She bit her lip as she looked around. And spotted someone new. Well, it was worth a shot. She walked over to the otherwise empty table.

"Mind if I join you?"

::Swarm::

Anomaly detected, consumation rate beyond human abilities. Profile entry...... high probability of non-human, chances of concealing magic or ability. Threat level readjustment...... increase. Submitting update to master.

Solivala's attention is drawn and his senses turn to those pointed out by his swarm.

Refer to his senses in profile, he takes 10 on perception(+19) if that effects anything.

Edit-
Solivala takes a moment, his orbs suddenly stop then begin moving anew slowly expanding to bring the newcomer into orbit.

"That would be acceptable."

Detect Magic doesn't get you anything because this is one of their natural forms. Perception will tell you that they are clearly related to each other and that there is a family resemblance between them and Aananda. And he did see Aananda's eyes change appearance during their conversation, so he can probably make an educated guess as to what they are.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, there's lots of non-humans here. And of those humans who are here, they pretty much all have some way in which they are very much not typical. You don't get sent here for being normal."

She took a bite of her scrambled eggs. "I guess I should just tell you, since I'm sure someone else will mention it if I don't. I kind of abused my abilities a bit since I came here, and I'm pretty much persona non grata around here now. Especially with the students who I had enthralled." She shrugged. She picked at her breakfast, overly conscious of the whispers and glares directed her way.

False data is common, if I am not directly collecting that information I have no reason to trust in the words of others. Many beings lie, only that which is proven means anything to me. "Why sit with someone you thought would dismiss you upon discovering your past actions. Were you expecting pity, understanding, or rejection. I assure you that I offer none of these, perhaps you should consider why you see me as different yet I do not in return."

He picks his clockwork watch out of his pocket and flips it open without looking, a moment later he closes it. But before he can put it away it jumps out of his hand with clockwork legs. Landing on the table its face flips open along with clockwork arms. It starts looking around seeming to eye Nala.

"Look, I just sat here because I didn't really have another option. At least over here I didn't have to worry about anyone 'accidentally' dropping food on me or other versions of petty revenge. Normally I get breakfast early so I don't have to deal with it. I overslept. My bad. And I didn't expect anything out of you. You're new. I was telling you so you would know and wouldn't get ambushed later about letting me sit by you. Since it's probably not the best start for you when it comes to social positioning. You want to be popular? Make friends with the Pack over there," she said, indicating the table of were-creatures. "Or the student council," she added pointing to a table who all had immaculately neat school uniforms. "Or if you prefer to hang around other oddballs, go make friends with the Sunwake kids," she said nodding towards the table where the three he had noticed before were consuming massive quantities of food. "And in case you're curious, no, I'm not trying to be nice to you. You let me sit by you, so I'm paying back the kindness with a little free advice. So now we're even."

The orbs froze slightly shaking.

"Very well here is my own advice in return for your data. Only someone very unwise would attempt to harm me in any way. I do not have any interest in anyone, if some would seek to befriend me so be it as would anyone seeking me harm. If you wish to sit near me in the future feel free, but I would suggest you keep any ill words to yourself. My swarm is not nearly as understanding."

Solivala's hand shoots out at Nala's face, inches before reaching her it stops holding a struggling clockwork watch. Its tiny limbs swinging in vain at her. It gives off a rude gesture before he clamps it shut and places it back into his pocket.

"It seems my watch has sided with my swarm. I should keep it away from you until it learns to behave itself."

He glances up at the orbs who reluctantly begin to orbit once more.

"Would you happen to know who has History of Agartha for first class?"

Male Kobold Expert 6/Slayer 8

Sent off by Aananda, the kobold professor is back in his own classroom. He looks around. "Well, this is dull. Maybe I should see if any other teachers have wandered off. There is a bit of amusement there."
The room is silent. Slarrow is off hunting in the forest with a few of the other cleverer slurks. Vakkler is alone.
"Maybe I should go to the cafeteria," he remarks to the room. "After being pandered to by her weakling of a mother, her ego will no doubt need checking."
The room is still silent.
"Or I could go after that storm girl. It'll take a good dose of firm proper discipline to deal with the brat.
His room does not respond.
"Or Zamarosok, in the cafeteria. Since she's been ostracised, her morale has doubtless been...
"..."
Wait, no, I liked that one. What's gotten into me?
He stops, looking disturbed. He gets up, closes the door, and turns off the light. His golden eyes shine in the dark. The room is silent.
After the moment of respite, he turns the light back on. He goes back to his desk and sits down.
The kobold historian opens a drawer and procures a large crossbow. He removes the string and examines it.
Satisfied, he replaces it, and then the crossbow.
He gets up again and turns off the light. Then he turns it on.
He frowns.
"Damned drow...damned magic...school. Damned school. Damn it."
He goes to the bookshelf and reaches behind. He pulls out an immense, ramshackle contraption resembling a ballista. He considers it, then puts it back.
"Kurtlemak and Hades, but I need a raise."
The kobold goes back to the door and takes the umbrella. Opening the door, he heads outside to the forest.

She stood up, picking up her tray full of picked over food.

"And I don't know who has that class. It was the Headmaster I think, but he's been awfully busy. He's probably reassigned it to someone else by now."

The orbs closed orbit back around Solivala one turning into a dog faced version of Nala with a slobbering tongue. Quickly reverting back to blend in with the others after a few moments. Solivala remained silent mentally going over his plans for the tower.

He is about to go over when he notices Nala (whom he hasn't seen since the incident with Taron's mental construct) having a somewhat strained conversation with another person...

Nala is upset and defensive. She keeps looking around warily. While the other student seems calm, his orbs have taken a dislike to Nala, and Fei spots the caricature the orbs form of her as she's leaving.

"Good morning, Nala. Is everything...alright?" he asks, sparing a glance at the unusual orb as it resumes its normal form.

And no, Fei just does not get the whole 'clique' thing - for better or worse. ;D

Looking from her retreating form to the silent figure with the floating orbs with (now customary) confusion on his face, he then heads to the cafeteria line and picks up some muffins and some juice. Sitting down next to the Sunwake's overloaded table, he greets those who are still conscious.

"Good morning...or perhaps...not." (o.O)

"Hi, Fei," she said as cheerfully as she could manage. "Don't mind Jimmy. He's still recovering from the psychic overload. So is Taron, but his version of recovery seems to make him loopy rather than tired."
She paused. She had been feeling better, but the disorientation was starting to become severe again. She leaned on the table, hoping that the feeling would pass.

"Of course," he replies, looking at the conveyance with an appraising eye.

He finishes his breakfast, then hefts Jiminy back into the wheelbarrow. After taking a napkin and cleaning off what oatmeal and syrup he can from the sleeping Sunwake's head, he then picks up the handles and makes sure he is nestled in securely.
