Hope you're doing well and recover quickly, WW. And no worries. Things are kinda slow right now. Mostly on account of me being kinda slow lately. :P
(Dental procedure gone wrong. Getting better slowly. I swear I just can't win with this stuff lately. Very discouraging. Even my Starfinder game keeps getting postponed...and it was only my fault once! :P)

There's not a whole lot of feelings quite as bad as being passed up for recruitment to a game when you had a character you were really invested in.
Especially with so few good games running recruitment. I guess I'm mostly just annoyed that less than half of the games I've found are actually being run in Pathfinder... Like... No one is using the system that's keeping the lights on here...
I don't usually complain, but between that and the constant fires in the server rooms here, it's been a rough week for me RPG wise.
How's everyone doing?

NaNo is freaking murdering me because I have to work on a different writing project as well, but other than that I'm good.
I'm doing a SU fic designed to systematically annihilate all of the optimistic themes of the show and destroy the feels of everyone reading it.
Day 4 of NaNo and I'm only at 2000 words. I usually knock out 2000 words a day. >.<
Coming down with a nasty case of the flu just as NaNo started really killed me this year. The first thousand words I wrote are total gobbledygook. Like not even compete sentences. Total mess. So I basically started over today. I have no idea what the actual plot of my actual book even is. I just know the name of the main character and that she has a cat, and overbearing sister, and hates mornings and running. I hope that eventually I find a plot in here or it's just going to be 50k words about Darcy going about her normal life....And what does SU stand for? Because if it stands for what I think it does, I think the show's writers are already on that particular mission.... :P

Taskshaper? As in the class Ace has?

Anyone else here have Spheres of Might or use the Wikia for it and Spheres of Power? I'm loving the systems. You can actually make a character that doesn't need items for the big AC chucnks(armor) and even enchant your body like it was a masterwork weapon. :)
I've got Spheres of Power and one of the expansions, and I backed the KS for Spheres of Might.
I haven't read it enough to understand how it works, other than it provides a more "component" based way to make a character rather than relying on class structures or slot based casting.I assume the melee builds work in the same fashion, where it has a sort of "menu" build, where to can take one from column A and 2 from column B to get the flavor of character you want.
I'd really like to have the time to dig in and understand it, tbh. I dislike GURPS because it's too open ended, and my one gripe about d20 games is that they are too rigid. I'm hoping the Spheres system is the perfect mix.

Woo! Finished NaNo yesterday and reveling in having actual time again!!! :)
I preordered the winner shirt so I am wearing it today. I kinda hate it. But I also more than kinda hate this year's project, so they match! This year was a lesson in what not to do. Hey, learning experience!
Lesson 1. Do not start a project without a clear idea to work with. No plan, no problem. No clear vision, big problem. It just meandered like a dream and made about as much sense. Not doing that again.
Lesson 2. Do not do a project that isn't fun. That doesn't mean every moment has to be enjoyable, but if no moments are then it will drain creativity away, making everything so much harder than it needs to be.
Lesson 3. It's okay to be a rebel sometimes if the rules aren't actually working for you. (All's fair in NaNoWriMo.)
Now I just have to remember those for next year....

I'm glad to hear you're back and we're starting to get somewhere again. XD
Unfortunately I'm dragging us back down for the next two weeks. Apparently we call this "Hell Week" because all the projects and such are due before finals week after this coming one, so I'm gonna be here sparingly at best.

I don't think we should consider things like this as right and wrong. They're differences of opinion. No one is going to have eternal damnation for their table top gaming choices, as much as the mid 1970's would've wanted us to believe it. We're all entitled to our opinions on RPG as much as other people are, and how other people feel about it as long as it doesn't effect our own opinions and choices is irrelevant.

Pretty much exactly what Magic said. It's not wrong to think about the game a certain way. It's only wrong if you try to force everyone else to think of it the same way you do. People are different and their brains work differently. When you start throwing out numbers and percentages of chances, my eyes glaze over. Probability is my least favorite type of math. In no small part because it's not necessarily related to actual reality. (Ask anyone who has ever gamed with me in person. Nobody gets that many 1s with that many different dice without seriously bending the laws of probability. :P) And I don't really care about it that much. I focus on different things. But I am not bothered by someone else caring about it. You want to use that knowledge to optimize? Go ahead, be my guest. Not my thing, but if it brings you joy, then far be it from me to stand in your way or judge you for it. There's room for all different types of people in the game. I mean, come on, it's just a giant game of pretend with statistics tacked on. ;)

I will admit I washed out of NaNo on the twelfth day. My fatal mistake was writing something incredibly depressing.
The first time I tried NaNo, I washed out in the first week and didn't even think about trying again for years.(I, uh, actually gave up writing completely for those years....except for PBP. I literally can't stop writing fiction even when I try.) I actually forgot my login and had to make a whole new account when I tried the second time (four years ago), that's how long it was between my first and second tries. So don't be discouraged if it didn't work out this year. You never know what will happen next time. And as long as you wrote more than you would have if you didn't sign up, then it was a victory. Learned something about how you work and what doesn't work for you? Double victory. You can use that to move forward! It's a learning experience and that's good, and you should be proud of yourself for trying! :)

So tired. >.<
Insomnia sucks.
This is to say, don't judge my posts too harshly today. And don't feel bad if you have to ask for an interpretation...I'm pretty gone so the chances of half of it being nonsense are high...better than yesterday, since I got a nap this morning, but still pretty high....
