Great, now we'll have 41 applicants

Thankfully that one will only last about six seconds or less.

Well, looking up above this thread, it looks like two groups.

Guess we'll have to cut that trapmonkey in half and divide him between the two.

Whats so difficult about trap finding? You open the door, trap goes off and Voila, trap found.

Grand Lodge

" Ahh look fresh meat!"

Felix walks casually towards the newcomer

"Tell me sir, have you ever wanted to join a pirate crew? Well were in need for someone who is good at finding traps, we have this chest here, probably loaded with booty, but its probably traped. If you can get into it, you can join the crew here, the most feared on the entire high seas!"

DC 20 perception check to notice the trap, DC 20 disable device to disarm it. Failure results in a pit fiend being summoned. So no pressure.

Shhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Secret, everyone else failed their perception roll.

Grand Lodge

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

"Yep, still only one ship setting sail on the high seas tonight"

Perception check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

"Move along, nothing to see here!"

These aren't the ships you're looking for. As he waives his hand dismissively in front of you.

Grand Lodge

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Thats my actual diplomacy score too...

"I'm pretty sure we can work something out here.

"There's only two kinds of diplomacy around here. The Intimidate kind, and the steel kind. Take your pick!"

Grand Lodge

"Blast, where is my cutlass....."

I prefer the Slumber Hex + coup de gras with a heavy pick type of Diplomacy.

Hey, even pirates have dreams! ;)

And here we go.

I originally wanted to go with 5 players per group but after some though I went with a 6th in each one.

Group1: Harpies of Besmara
1. Sylvestra Striana - SeaWitch
2. Mumbata of Bonuwat - vivisectionist alchemist
3. Captain Rorgrim Stormbeard - Barbarian
4. Rhialla - Cleric of Besmara
5. Lorn Butterrum
6. Siera Saltwater - Monk (Martial Artist) (do me a favor and change your age to 22 and we're golden)

Group2: Feversea Swashbucklers
1. Randall McNally - Bard (sea singer)
2. Alistair Duphrane - Rogue (swashbuckler)
3. Mugwort - Goblin Gunslinger
4. Riven Roger - Rogue
5. Kess the Osprey - Druid
6. Ryzern - Wizard

Do out of a ton of players I chose these twelve to sail the high seas and more or less be unfortunate victims to my terrible terrible whims.

If you people would kindly report to the OOC thread that would be great thank you.

As for the rest I'd like to take a moment to explain a bit about the long process and why it took around 12 hours to quietly dig through 30 some odd entries.

Ultimately when I build a group in this way I'm essentially building a story out of the skeleton provided by the AP. I look at potential interactions and similarities in backstories to form a crew that more or less has a lot in common despite their differences. And in cases where there's little to nothing in common I try to make it so they are foils to one another rather than true opposites one should play off the other as it were.

However bear in mind that this is also a game so I also try to form a fairly cohesive group that has a ready made strategy of some sort in mind. The second group should be fairly obvious in the "sneak attack everything" department.

Of course none of that even matters if the players themselves aren't reliable which is another thin I looked into. Not just posting history of characters but other things as well. I'd rather not get into it let's just say I really really hate going through the work of doing this and then having to reopen recruitment.

So with that there were no really bad applications and very few bad ones. There were some uninteresting ones, those that didnt simply stand up on there own or sparked ideas. I will not say who but I will say that it's easy to tell when there's passion behind a character and a real desire to see them played out to an end be it glorious or rotting in a ditch.

So if I were to take a third group what would I take? I'd probably take the following.

Rusk - Brawler
Strom - Barbarian
Edard - Evangelist
Kobe Malonar - Vivisectionist Alchemist
Aoro - Sorcerer
Variel Nightstorm - Magus

This group would have a different feel and be much more blunt than say the two rogue group. But the interactions are there to make an interesting mafia type feel with the twin bruisers who will either love each other like brothers or despise one another, the all business alchemist playing off the relisiouc glory seeking cleric and the sorcerer having his delusions shattered by the grim reality of a life at sea.

In any case with so many applications I suggest someone take up the gm reins and grab a group themselves. There's no shortage of good apps here and my tastes will likely vary from your own. In any case thank you all for applying and sorry to disappoint so many but I can only do so much.

Thanks for the consideration and have oodles of fun on the high seas! We'll be fine... don't worry about us, here on land... just watching you twelve sail into the sunset. Seeking fame, fortune, and your destinies... but yeah really, we'll be ok! *sigh* :).

On a side note, if I didn't want to play this one so badly myself I'd grab a group like Tark suggested. C'est la vie, and then you meet your doom in Davy Jones's locker.

Well good luck to all, hope you make it ;)

Btw I resent that comment. Not delusion, mearly naive which is why his character development would have been so sweet xP

Good luck out there, kill some sharks for me.

If someone dies horribly within the first few hours, you know where to find me :)

Tark, the discussion thread tab in both campaigns seems to be linked to your CoT's OoC discussion

Yes, yes it is. That was intentional.

Looks like a good group, though I have admit, I was rooting for Mugwort to be put on my team, I loved his write up!

I did consider it actually. But I never saw much happening between the goblin and the others except as some comic relief. That and the second group needed a good solid Good bab anchor to complement the hefty amounts of sneak attacking and probably summons as well.

In the second group he'll have more to play off of with the bookish wizard and the gobbo hating gnome.

Rusk sad now.

Rusk go punch someone for a while to get over it...

Good luck and congrats to the two groups!

Thanks very much for the opportunity! Even on its own this was a fun recruitment thread. Looks like it will be an interesting campaign.

Yea, I also noticed that I was the only one in my group to have the sneak attack / disable device route, so I guess I'll be the hybred rogue for the group.

Well this ought to be fun!

Waiting to post in the Gameplay tab until I am added as a character. I am not sure if Tark is wanting the other three to post yet ;)

Go ahead and post if you like.
