Also, as part of an attempt to learn/experiment with the system pre-game, Min has attempted to distill some poison from the viper she carries about. (DC for distill poison is equal to the poison's save so DC 9] Crit failures expose her to the poison, so if she fails she'll start the game with some minor poison damage >.>
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
She'll also attempt to concentrate those poison doses into 2 doses. Concentrate poison: You can combine two doses of the same poison to increase their effects. This requires two doses of the poison and 1 minute of work. The frequency of the poison is extended by 50% (from 6 rounds to 9 rounds) and the save increases by +2 (from 9 to 11). You can not re-concentrate concentrated poison. DC is equal to the poison's save. I'd assume this is the reconfigured save so DC 11.
Note: This is of course assuming the above 4 rolls work.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Edit: Looks like 3 successes and 1 failure (a 2! so close to critical failure, phew!). This means only 2 are combined so she has a bolt with a DC 11 venom that lasts 9 rounds and a bolt with DC 9 venom that lasts 6 rounds. Does this look right?

Kelgan will also be doing some distillation, though of a different variety. He'll spend the idle time carving a new set of false teeth, and feeding his still *ahem* portable alchemy lab with the shavings and scraps. He usually remembers which side is for chemicals, and which side is for whiskey; when he forgets, it means a batch of good old Gutsplitter - weak stomachs be warned.
Craft (alchemy) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
He takes a few sips as it brews, mutters appreciatively, and draws some of the batch into his flask. The rest he'll keep cooking till its strong enough for use as an antiseptic.

A note on style: I tend to want to seperate what's known and unknown in a pbp, so posting style generally goes like this.
Descriptive text is standard text in third person limited: Kelgan looks over the waiting room with an annoyed eye.
Speech is bolded and surrounded by quotation marks: "Why is everyone staring?" Wondered Bronn aloud.
Personal thoughts are italicized and usually 1st person: This room smells of sweat. Do none of these men bathe? Min thought.
Telepathic or magical communication is surrounded by pointed brackets: <Relax, I'm talking in your head.> Valen's voice murmered in Algar's brain.

Oh good point, I forgot that not everyone uses the same style. I'll start bolding speech, but other than that I've always followed the same method. Quotations for speech and italics for inner thought. I use inner thought rarely as its..well, its inner thought. If you want an NPC or PC to pick up on what your character is thinking, use physical action instead.
For example, intrigue would be a quirked eyebrow, interest would be an intense stare and a slight tilt of the head, etc.

Set up as best I can without knowing anything about the new guy, but it seems we have an arcanist joining as well. You won't be able to get a messenger bird right now at the base, however you could get one for roughly 25 gold in the surrounding village. With military forces in the area, trained hawks are a hot commodity at the moment.

Alright, gives time to get the handful of gold we'd need for that anyway.

Tarequis the Strange |

also continueing to add little details on the character sheet if you see any blareing problems please let me know some of the way they gave the sorc extra spells was a little confusing but from what i gather i get one from BL (pre selected) one from extended arcana one from favored class and 2 normaly. ... prety sure i need to fix CMB (reason for ? mark)

Valan, lone druid |

Let's do the spell math step by step.
look at Chapter 7 - spells Spellcasting Table 1: Spells Known/Prepared:
As a sorcerer 1 you have spell capacity 1st level.
That means you get 3 spells known of level 0 and 0+1 spells known of level 1.
0+1 means that you only get the bonus spell for that level by default, in the case of the sorcerer that is your bloodline spell.
Next step: Expanded arcana gives you one addition cantrip known and one additional level 1 spell known.
Then add one spell known from favored class.
You don't get any more spells for now. I don't know where you found something indicating 2 additional spells.
So basicaly you need to delete one known cantrip and two 1st lvl spells.
Hope that helped :D
Some more things i noticed:
+1 size bonus to attack rolls, +4 size bonus to stealth;
your AC should be 15, not 20 unless i miss something.
I'm looking forwards to insanitree :D

Tarequis the Strange |

Ilk have to look at the spells again when I'm where I can find a book, but your probably right
And yes ac is wrong I pasted character sheet format over from helio's and modified the math but forgot to change the number it should read 15.
Thanks for your advice, I'm glad to have it

yep found what i did wrong, used Pathfinder standard spell list to make my toon.
thanks Valan found the Kirthfinder spell progression list thanks to you.. aslo learned a bit about makeing concentration checks. glad i whent with combat casting looks like im realy going to need it and i think i might start putting my spell effects under spoiler tags ;P so they are on hand
I apreciate your help and recomendation
aslo i modified my weopons dmg for size (based on pathfinder norm) should i not have done that?

Valan, lone druid |

You still didn't add the missing size boni: +1 attack and +4 stealth (1 rank+ 3 from skill focus + 4 from dex + 4 from size= +12)
Also you should know that spellcasters in pathfinder have a harder time using their stuff in battles. First the casting time for spells with somatic or material components is increased, allowing only a 5' step. In addition, melee fighters can hold actions to interrupt you in many was - even going as fas as running up to you and then attacking when you try casting. That way a bodyguard is pretty useful for any spellcaster (who can interrupt the interrupting attack etc :D). Thankfully our dwarf is a walking bulwark - with tower shield and all.
So yes, you pretty much need combat casting if you want to actually cast stuff in combat :D.
Btw, Tanglewine is pretty neat - and slightly lovecraftian (i mean, really, a tentacle-like vine coming from your hand?)
Also: I just realized we all have 1 hero point at the beginning of an adventure :D
@Ryuko regarding hero points: I'd say you should just award them for critical successes that actually contribute to something. Getting a 20 on perception when i suspect something hides in a cave - while there isn't anything - shouldn't give me one. It's not heroic to notice safety. But if there actually was a bear, and i noticed it in a super-awesome way (is it possible to notice something in a super-awesome way lol?) then you should give one imho.

Tarequis the Strange |

putting this here cause I dont want it to interfere with current story, but have been itching to post
Elswhere in the forest
Tarequis stands in a small clearing trying to get some information out of a band of goblins while trading his goods from the outpost.
Tareguis makes a deal"These are good, no? So you trade Tarek? As side, your goods? You get them by swet, or swipe?"
The leader of the Goblins looks over the nails with intrest and eyes Tarequis's well forged daggers.
Tarequis Continues mindful of the Goblin sizing him up "you raid for these? cause if so Tarek able, travels alone, powerful help. Maybe strike partnership to aquire goods for both of us." Gives his most winning smile.
The leader starts in "Maybe we trade strange one, or maybe you give me your goods and keep your life, if not my men ARE hungry." the 8 goblins with him start to smile hungerly
Tarequis stands his ground, because he realy wants something viable to take back to fort "Seriously if you raid, Tarek provide big magics, besides it bad luck to eat shawman, our meat is cursed, everyone know that. "
The goblin leader scratches his chin "Bad luck, tis true." confident about his quary the goblin leader turns his back on Tarek to face his men, as he begins to talk Tarequis takes two silent steps away and BOLTS "Well I guess we can't eat you then but we can take y.." the leader is cut off by one of his warriors as he points "uh Ragut, he not stay." Furious the leader turns around "After him you runts!"
Running with a slight lead on his persuers "This is not good. What do we do now? Definatly not the way i thought this was going to go. well of course it's not" huffs between thoughs from the exertion of talking while running "No i did not plan for this. Hey you think you can do better then next time speak up." Tarek comes to a dead stop in his run and smiles at the stick of living wood " ok ok your right that IS a good plan sorry I doubted you"
Tarek eyes a tree about 20 foot away making an exact illusionary dublicate of it right next to the tree he stoped by, then Steps inside his illusion and waits for the persurers to run past. Tarequis closes his eyes and listins with a smile he sways a little prtending he is the tree. Once they pass out of ear shot. he then back tracks to their clearing to steals a bit of the belongings left in their camp and gather anything that might be a clue to their activity in the region.

I'm sorry guys, but a post by a friend in another game made me realize something. I began games I really didn't have time for because I was excited for them, and now I have even less time than I did. I apologize to all of you for getting you into it and interested and you were all great players that I would love the chance to play with again, but thanks to certain things in my real life I will be cancelling several of my projects and limiting myself down to only a few games so as to avoid wasting anyone's time with games that simply limp along.
I appreciate those of you who would have stuck with me. Thank you all for your time and attention.
Happy Gaming everyone.

Well that is rather inconcenient :/
anyone know somebody who could take up the GM Reins for this?
The campaign hasn't gone that far so it could easily be redirected.
I suppose i will post something in the kirthfinder thread, maybe we find a replacement there ^^
Oh and thx anyway Ryuko :D was fun - hope it will keep being that way.
PS: hope you don't mind having your Campaign stolen ;)

Bronn 'the Mountain' Cleggaine |

This is actually a blessing in disguise for me, as I'm feeling the exact same way! I'll be dropping out as well. I'm beginning to DM a game, and it's taking a lot of time. On top of that I've got a lot of RL stuff heating up at the moment taking up time. I'd still like to try kirthfinder some day, but I guess this isn't the time.

Kirth Gersen |

Kelgan -- if you still want to segue into the other Kirthfinder frontier PBP, here's an intro:
"I'm sending you to Kaisersburg," he says, mentioning the name of the capital city of the Estren Territories. "It hasn't been announced yet, but Duke Kolvin will be visiting there next week. As you're no doubt aware, Kolvin is my direct employer, which makes him your liege by extension. Those facts therefore make you and I unhappy when rumors of an assassination plot against him, on a visit no one is supposed to know about yet, come to our attenton. You are therefore to foil the plot, naturally, and also subject the plotters to extreme sanction." Fenrift always speaks of killing people the way other people talk about getting ice cream. You wonder what he did back in Aviona, that the elf-lords there exiled him to the most remote frontier post in existence.
Fenrift stops fondling the hilt of his rapier, and almost smiles, "You'll like Duke Kolvin -- the head of his personal troops is a reformed dwarven bandit like yourself. No sense bothering him with details, though -- just foil the plot and report back here. Kaisersburg is downriver -- that's to our advantage, you can catch a boat today and be there very quickly. Figure a week or so to foil the scheme and mop up the loose ends" -- by which you know he means kill everyone involved -- "and a few more days traveling up-river to get back. Call it a month all told. Please don't make me send a cleanup squad on day 31."
With that, he performs an almost unprecidented gesture -- he reaches over and pours you a glass of Scotch whisky from the cut-crystal decanter on his desk. Stories are told about the quality of the stuff, but to the best of your knowledge, no one in the keep has tried it other than Lord Fenrift himself. Pouring himself a glass as well, he says, "Good luck."

Kelgan Cragbelly |

Kirth Gersen |

As the Scotch rolls onto your tongue, you can taste the peat of the Estren Highlands, the hardness of the local water, and the oak of the barrels it was aged in. The stuff is sublime, probably produced somewhere at the edge of the highlands by someone very knowledgeable in the process.
Taking another sip, you realize your stuff never turns out this well because of a problem with temperature control -- setting a bonfire under a still just doesn't do the trick. You absently wonder if it's possible to set up copper stills in series, applying a near white-hot flame selectively on the columns and then cooling at the next step with piped-in water or a spell or something.

Kirth Gersen |

Fenrift has no discernable reaction to your prod about duels; he merely comments offhand, "9 am is always the appointed hour; best you know that before entering Kaisersburg. Any insult there is a dueling challenge, but that's not for you -- you have more important business there." With that, he dismisses you and goes back to looking at maps brought back from survey teams sent east to the Elder Mountains.

Kirth Gersen |

You arrive at the docks in Kaisersburg -- a recently-built city of tall red brick buildings with neat trim, looking as if it was laid out by a meticulous plan -- quickly and without incident.
Kelgan Streetwise: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Sadly, you have no idea where to go upon arrival, and end up in a local bar, where sailors throw knives at the dartboard and discuss loudly whether to cut out your liver.

Kelgan Cragbelly |

Kelgan salutes, swills the last of the Scotch and hurries out the door. He hastily dumps his flask on a nearby bush, then carefully spills his mouthful of the fine whiskey into it. "Just save this for later," he mutters to himself. "Sure and I know I'll be wishing I had it soon enough." With that accomplished, he packs his rucksack, collects a log from the woodpile, and sets off down towards the river docks.

Kelgan Cragbelly |

Shaking off the shivers from the journey -- dwarves are meant to stand on rock, not some jittery miserable raft -- he looks around unhappily at the raucus crowd. Elbowing his way through to the bar, he plinks a coin down on the counter to get the barkeep's attention, and pins it in place with a stout finger. "I'm looking for something to get the stink of river rats out of my nose, and somewhere to stay that's nailed down proper." He gets out his ivory pipe and looks expectantly at the man.
Not trusting the other patrons, he retreats to an empty table against the wall and starts puffing away. After a while he'll start making quiet inquiries as to where one might go to find 'bloody' work.
Streetwise 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Looking for gangs or thugs that might be hiring some extra muscle for a big job.

Kirth Gersen |

The barkeep plunks down a mug of something that might be beer, and pointedly doesn't light your pipe, instead preferring to wander off. Your inquiries are met with blank stares, with one patron rudely asking if you want employment as a butcher. Finally, someone mutters that you "damn stumps all work over at the Forge." You take it that "Stump" is local derogatory slang for hill dwarf, and find it odd that they talk about "the forge" as if there's only one of them in the whole city.
Knowledge (lore): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
The beer is made from turnips. It's foul swill, in your opinion.

Kelgan Cragbelly |

Having had his fill of petty men and piss served in a mug, Kelgan makes his way out into the alley. The narrow red-brick ways remind him of the cracks and cliffsides of the highlands, and he is suddenly overcome with homesickness. He shoulders his sack and heads out, listening for the telltale sound of ringing iron.
Swatting away the hand of a street urchin that jostles up against him, he barks, "Hoy you little clot. I'll give you a bit if you'll lead me to the forge, but try that again and I'll break your skull."
Kelgan is a bit taken aback at the ominous edifice rising in front of him, belching black smoke like some caged dragon. Still, he strides inside, looking for a foreman or some such.

Kirth Gersen |

(Assuming you've seen the description of Jarnell's Forge in the PBP thread) There are hill dwarves a-plenty working in shops around the bizarre building with its column of fire -- most wearing leather aprons, so you can't be sure of their clan affiliation, and have no idea in any event whether blood feuds and vendettas from the highlands are carried over into the city.
In addition to the metalworking shops, there are other businesses -- including a distillery.

Kelgan Cragbelly |

The distillery looks to be a place to make some quick friends. I've got the skill to prove I'm an equal, and maybe someone inside is better at gathering gossip than I am. If I don't find a lead soon, this mission is going strait down a crevasse.
I'll seek out the brew master, and see if I can get hired on for a few days.
Showing my skill: Craft(Alchemy) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
