Narrator

The rats are getting more and more and though Mr. Plugg doesn't care if the swabs share their bunk with them. But he doesn't want them in his food so they have to be reduced from time to time.

The rat catchers are paired up to do so and Lito has to go together with Sandara catching rats under deck.

Narrator

Jarrus has to do the classic swab job - scrubbing the decks. Together with “Badger” Medlar, a half-elf woman.

Narrator

Noonan has lookout duty together with Barefoot Samms Toppin a human woman without shoes. "Hey, don't ye dare sleeping on the job, ye lazy landlubber."

Female Human Cleric of Besmara (3)

"You seem to be in a good mood. How do you manage that on your first day on that soul seller?" Sandara asks Lito while looking out for rats.

Besmara follows the ones who know where to go under deck. As she climbs down the ladder she sees what the bilge looks like. "What kind of s%*! bucket is that. Is this a ship or a pasta sieve? That's the water from one night?" she complains.

Narrator

Maheem gives Besmara a glare but doesn't think she is worth talking to.

"Shaddup! If ye keep complanin' I can get Master Scourge to line ye up for another lashing. Ye look like ye would enjoy another session. Bwahaha." Cogward orders with a laugh and pats her on the sore back.

Yea. You shanghaied as well? When do we eat?

Narrator

"No. I was bored of all these luxury travel so I booked something more rustic-style for a change." Toppin replies. They must have chosen him for the bird.

"Eating is in the morning and in the evening. Ye can't miss it. Now stop staring at me and watch the sea." she says searching the waters herself. "We search for land and other ships. And if ye see something tell me first before ye shout something stupid."

Please put in your daytime activities for during work if you want to do some (besides working diligently). Tomorrow morning (my time) I will serve dinner, bloody hour and rum and pass on to freetime.

Lito, you got the one pirate (Sandara) who's attitude is already helpful towards you.

Jarrus, gets in there and does the job of swab.

Constitution Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

He's been here before he thinks to himself. Way back when he was a wee deckhand. The more the thinks about it the angrier he gets. He's moved pass this grunt work and as he's about to say something he notices that he's not the only one doing this work this day.

"Aye there. Yer the one they call 'Badger' aye? Dumb luck we got getting stuck swabbin the decks. Hav'nt done this since I was a lil' rat on a ship. What be yer story?" he says half-heartedly scrubbing the deck. Whenever a crew member wanders by he scrubs with renewed vigor, till they pass then he goes back to doing it with a yawn.

@GM - Since Sandra is helpful to Lito, he would try to casually find out information about the other pirates (assuming she has been on the ship longer then him). Not going for anything specific, just trying to get an idea of the social structure on the ship and who it might to good to talk to, as well as who to avoid getting on their bad side.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara (3)

"I was short on coins and that free meal yesterday evening looked almost too good to be true. Looks like it was bait and I swallowed it hook, line and sinker." Sandara replies. "My name is Sandara by the way." She puts her foot down on the rat while it flees from Lito. "One down, hundreds to go."

Narrator

Badger an older elven woman who shaves her gray hair into stripes gives Jarrus a glare. "I keep out of trouble by not talking to the new ones. They tend to draw attention and get the lash. Keep scrubbing over there and shaddup." she snarls at Jarrus.

"Our new swabs have survived so far. Who would have thought. Maybe we can make real pirates of them. Because everyone who doesn't will become the ship's ho. Like you." he points to Besmara. "I've heard ye're a dead weight in the bilge. Man up or you get a special assignment where you only have to hold still while ye're entered. Jack will praise Besmara if ye got the job. The sorry lad has a sore ass already." Which causes everyone but Jack - a young lad - to laugh a dirty pirate laugh.

As the laughing settles down Mr. Plugg continues [b]"I have the pleasure now ta punish Jakes. Stealing from the Quartermaster's store is a bad idea and I'll show ye why."

Narrator

Two pirates disappear under deck to get the poor lad. Jakes looks already beaten up as he appears on deck. He is then tied to a prepared rope that runs under the ship and thrown overboard. Mr. Plugg delights in pulling the other end in short jerks really slow. After a time that feels like eternity the cut to shreds remains of what was Jakes Magpie a minute ago are pulled on deck. The man is dead.

Next 'dinner' is served. Long time pirates notice that the food is a vast improvement compared to the usual scum Fishguts produces. A good looking girl fetches the food for the officers and brings it to the officers' mess.

After dinner Master Scourge and Mr. Plugg oversee the serving of the rum rations. The rum is strong but lousy quality.

Besmara enjoys her meal as it is the first time this day she can relax a bit. Her back still hurts from the lashes and every bone in her body hurts from the hard work. On receiving her rum ration she takes a sip and splutters it out immediately "Bwah! That tastes like paint remover!"

"Shaddup and drink. Every single drop of that!" Master Scourge shouts and hands out a lash.

Noonan winces at the keelhauling and smacks his lips as a little bile is coughed up.

The food though is a welcome distraction and he eats some.

This is good, but I don't get much. Noonan has shared with Pluck and thus his biscuit and other portion has gone quick. He would really like more since he is big and has big hungerrip and tear.

Noonan gets up with his bowl and heads over to where the stuff is doled out, his mind trying to figure out how to get more. He didn't have money and he wasn't all charming like that Besmara..

Ok. Be honest. Tell them straight.

He holds his empty bowl out to the server. I'm big. Big hunger.

For the first part of the meal Trytton is busy plating meals for the officers and only joins everyone else in the mess as the rum is being handed out.
The food tastes exceptionally bland to him, as food you have prepared always does.

As he is handed his rum ration he looks for someone who has already finished theirs. Seeing Jarrus he walks over and swaps their mugs, not being particularly discreet about it.

The quartermaster's shop is just a cramped, crowded storeroom containing
numerous barrels, boxes, and chests. The door has a superior lock and features a 3-foot-square serving hatch which is also locked when Grok is not there.

As Jarrus arrives at the quartermaster's he is greeted by Cut-Throat Grok, a tall female half ork with a large scar across her throat. "Whadda ye want here. Get to work ye lazy landlubber."

You can visit the quartermaster, but as one of the new ones you have no money to buy something, no items to trade and don't know the rules. And your GM is not very fond of playing out things that are back in time that may lead to changes in things that already happened. So try again later.

Trytton's large hands clench during the lashing, and his teeth grind as he stares at the far wall.

Most of the low ranking pirates have some or all of throwing axe, cutlass, dagger and sap. The officers have weapons of their choice but as they don't mingle with the others you don't see in detail what. None of them wears openly a pistol.
