Kenji takes a deep breath, his eyes meeting the Queen of Delights with an earnest expression.

“Your Majesty, we are truly grateful for your warm hospitality and the opportunity to share this wonderful evening with you and your esteemed guests. We come before you not only as admirers of your grace and wisdom but also as humble petitioners seeking your support!“

He pauses for a moment, ensuring that he has her attention.

“We are a group dedicated to the well-being and prosperity of our people. Our city, Kintargo, faces great challenges and hardships, and we have fought tirelessly to restore peace and stability to our beloved home!“

Kenji's voice becomes impassioned as he continues, “However, we cannot do this alone. We believe that an alliance with you, Your Majesty, and your powerful and influential domain, would be invaluable in our struggle. Your support would not only strengthen our cause but also help bring about lasting change to benefit all those who call our city home against House Thrune!“

He takes a moment to gauge her reaction before continuing, “We understand that this request is not made lightly, and we assure you that our intentions are sincere. We have come to you tonight, bearing gifts and sharing our stories, in the hopes of earning your trust and friendship. We know that your word carries weight in this realm, and your endorsement would mean more to our cause than any treasure we could amass!!“

as if she has suspected why you were here, and
graciously acknowledges your request swiftly.

“My darlings, your
performance at my table has already
made my decision. No need for any further

The queen smiles radiantly
and promises her support as she scans the audience.

“And of course Vyre will support
your bid for freedom—this little banquet is nothing
compared to the complex political machine at work.
When the time comes to throw off Thrune’s shackles,
Vyre will be there to aid you!”

The help starts to clear the dishes and most of the guests
stand to depart, obviously not getting the recognition that your group
has achieved. Several look disappointed, and a couple outright jealous.

As the guests are ushered from the hall, the

Queen raises a delicate finger to stop your group, and then gliding over, puts her hands on Sidius and Talvek's arms.

Sidius pauses and blinks at Lubella's comment, as her tone lays clear what lies ahead. That puzzle was clearly very, very distracting... He begins to flush slightly as his mind races through hundreds of thoughts, Is it worse to displease the queen here by stepping back, or in her bedroom? Likely here, given that I've already agreed, and anyone with a lick of sense should have seen what he was agreeing to. And, honestly, Rossalyn is dead, she would never begrudge you this....

Sidius smiles, "Ah, well, we are a group that's good at keeping secrets, after all."

The nature of events that take up the remainder of
the night between the Queen of Delights and her chosen (and accepted) guests is left behind closed doors. What happens in Vyre, stays in Vyre.

Molly is choked up and just nods, unable to say much else without losing her composure.

She takes Lubella's hands into her own. You take care of yourself, girl. The big men of the world are more than happy to step on the little people every chance they get. Cheliax's rulers are worse than most.

Once the group is alone, he shares the Queen of Delights' warning. "We may have made an enemy yesterday, the old woman, Hei-Fen. A wererat and a devotee of Norgorber."

"That doesn't bode well. If she's truly as furious as the queen indicated, she might try to sell us out to the Thrunes. I've known Norgorberites to be many things, but holding reservations about selling our there enemies has never been one."

Hei-Fen has been an enemy of mine for years. And part of the reason for my loss of those deeds you found. I am sorry you all are now involved with her. She is not very nice, and that says alot.
Back in Kintargo, you should be safe from her. I am sure you will all do fine. Watch your backs. I will see if I can find out anything more.

Once you are ready to return to the ship, the Captain's appointed boatmen ferry you back to the Scourge of Belial and you are able to board.

Lieutenant Nones greets you. I expect you found what you were seeking in Vyre. Not that I would ask what that was or how it turned out. But seeing you alive bodes well nonetheless. The Captain has conveyed to the crew we will sail south and west before we can return to Kintargo.

She has a serious expression.

He wants you in his Ready Room as soon as your gear is stored and you can be ready to discuss strategic military matters.

Once the rowboat is hauled aboard and secured, three crewmen help carry your packs to your cabins.

As you approach the Captains ready room, Lieutenant Nones opens the door and motions you inside.

The Captain stands and greets your group with a grim expression.

Welcome back aboard. I understand your meeting with the Queen went well. Some may think better than to be expected. he winks at Talvek.

But while you were engaged in diplomacy ashore, I have received messages from allies of mine in Cheliax military circles.

He looks out a port onto the departing coastline.

Apparently the Thrunes in Kintargo are calling for allies. They expect some sort of re-inforcements from the capital. Or other areas where the generals can spare forces from the fight with the rebels of the Glorious Reclamation. He scowls.

I am no traitor to Cheliax. But the Lord Mayor is self serving and is corrupt in his motives. I suspect something to do with the upcoming event he has planned. The reinforcements cannot be allowed to reach Kintargo. I am making for the coast closest to the Menador Gap. The success of your movement in Kintargo will hang in the balance. If the gap can be closed, you have a chance. If Barzillai receives the help he requested, the vise will close and Kintargo will be further subjected to the iron-clad control and any freedoms that remain will be forever lost.

He points to a map on his table, indicating the destination.

Menador Keep is located at the narrowest
and highest point in the pass.
There are no others able to reach the old fortress in time.
Are you willing to do whatever it takes? This will not be an easy task.I can get you close, but you would still have to cover a fair distance to the keep, then block or disable it.

learned of a failsafe in the last days of the Chelish
Civil War, but by then they were in no position to take
advantage of it. They did make notes of their discovery,
though, check or has specifically
studied the documents recovered in the first adventure

topic of securing the Menador Gap comes up.

I will anchor and await your return if you survive. We can sail back to Kintargo ahead of any assault by sea. But hopefully the Sea Elf allies will hold off any other naval support.

Kenji casts guidance on himself and suddenly blanks out and enters a trance for half a minute.

You can enter a deep meditation, blocking out visual and auditory stimuli and allowing you to concentrate on a single problem, philosophical issue, or memory. When you come out of your trance, you may make a single Intelligence-based skill check with a +20 circumstance bonus. Suddenly, Kenji comes out of his trance.

The original Silver Ravens … they learned of a failsafe in the last days of the Chelish Civil War, but by then they were in no position to take advantage of it. They did make notes of their discovery, though!! I thank we can use this information when trying to secure the Menador Gap!!“ he says shaking.

Kenji’s timely Vision is an inspiration and Lubella and others remember from the early days together that Rexus’s research into papers uncovered in ashes had mentioned the Gap. It seemed unimportant at the time.

”I do not know much of the current state of the Keep or it’s forces other than the leader is a Thrune scion.. You will be on your own for reconnaissance and tactics. If you can message me if events turn ugly or if you know when you are ready to return to Kintargo. We should be able to make the Masquerade, if you complete your task quickly. Lubella conferred with her comrades, "Ok, can everyone please go through their gear and make sure you have what you need for about two weeks, and figure what supplies you need to purchase. I know that I'm going to have to buy rations, for example. Also, double check your weapons and ammunition."

Numerous small towns and villages dot the
route south, but none are of significant size, and their

Ain't been much news of the Gap of late. Buttoned up real tight I recon. Plans by them big wigs with all their wars and stuff. They don't care a bit for us farmers. Just take our harvests an trample our fields is all thems good for. Glad they ain't been any soldiers marchin' around here. Roads clear since rebels drawing off to fights to the east and north.

From the maps you recall, this farmer and his hommlet are about halfway to the Inn. The Gap is a handful of miles beyond the Inn, in the mountains.

If ye gives yer word you ain't gonna turn my oxen into frogs or something. You all can stay in the barn. I got a bit of cured ham and some cheese that might last you a week. Vittles like sun dried tomatoes or pickled beets maybe less or more...if you breaks the jar.

After a short 15min ride, you reach a small barn and farmhouse with a chicken coup and some fences with a couple tired farm dogs.

Well, this here is home. Don't go spookin' my animals. You can stay in the barn until morning. Then you best get moving. I am still not sure you ain't spies, but if you are something else, the Thrunes will be sure to come look for you and I don't want no trouble.

You figure the dried foods and cheeses will last 5-6 days on the road.
