Round 5

Pressing forward Nakon hacks at the sailor who wounded Sevien. Think he's adjacent.

Forcing his opponent's blade down with a brutal down cut he slashes the blade across the man's throat.

Scimitar vs Sailor: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 25 (mw, flag)

Male Human Cleric 3 (FC) HP: 25/25 AC: 16

Seeing Nakon's success he gives the force of Asmodeus to him. Cast Guidance on Nakon.

Looking down at his wound, These fleshwounds will not stop us, you are doomed...surrendor now or there will be no mercy!

Male Half-Orc Wizard 1 - HP 13/13, 0 non-lethal, AC12, CMD16, F+3, R+2, W+3, Prescience 6/6

Mata grits his teeth "Since when are we giving mercy?"

He swings his sword at the man up the stairs this time ignoring the premonition that failed him last time.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16 Can't access map at work (they are fine at home) so not sure if I get flag bonus, please remove the +1 here and in damage if I don't get it.
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 34
Damage: 2d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 4) + 4 + 1 = 11

If the man falls Mata will step up the stairs to take his place.

Male Human Cleric 3 (FC) HP: 25/25 AC: 16

Whispers back to Mata, Of course there will be no mercy, I am just hoping to get them to surrender.

Deity

Nakon's blade almost takes the head off the nearest sailor beside Sevien. The body drops to the steps then thunks down them to land in the offal of Nakon's previous victim.

Mata sees the man fall, but can't see beyond to Xantrius and his flag, or even to Nakon who dealt the blow. Focusing on the sailor above him, Nakon sweeps the man's legs and as he falls Mata drives the falchion into him. He gurgles and lies still and Mata bounds onto the Sterncastle.

You believe the Sterncastle and the Aft deck to now be free of enemies, except the kneeling sailor who surrendered before Xantrius.

(Any actions from Xantrius or Sevien before we head into Round 6.)

Male Human Cleric 3 (FC) HP: 25/25 AC: 16

Move up onto the Sterncastle but in sight of Mata and the others.
What kind of armor are the sailors wearing?
He yells out to the main part of the ship, Dispel the mist, we need to see up here!

Our orders at least were to take the wheel and guard the boats. Presumably the wheel is right here in the sterncastle even if its hidden by a few feet of mist. What about the boats, presumably we know where they are from seeing the ship in the distance.

Deity

Sevien makes his way onto the sterncastle of the boat, where he can just make out two ballistas perched in the corners. The body at his feet is wearing studded leather armour over a simple loose shirt and pants and plain sandals tied to his feet. His short sword lies beneath him and a crossbow is still slung across his back, it's bolts scattered from the quiver where he fell. A small purse hangs from the simple rope he was using for a belt.

Effects
- Fog Cloud- The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature within 5 feet has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can’t use sight to locate the target).
- Flagbearer (Xantrius, Nakon)- +1 morale bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, and saving throws against fear and charm effects
- Magic Weapon (Nakon)- +1 TH, +1 Dam (enhancement)
- Totem Transformation (Nakon)- +2 natural armour
- Mage Armour (Mata)- +4 AC (armour)
- Fatigued (Mata)- A fatigued character can neither run nor charge and takes a –2 penalty to Strength and Dexterity.

Three Rahadoumi sailors appear out of the fog, and rush toward the starboard side ship’s boat. One starts furiously untying the boat, while another fends off a blow from behind them, a shape which vanishes into the fog again. The third stands nearby, sword at the ready but seems to be focusing mainly on the ship's deck as the fog closes in around them once again.

Deity

(Everything works if Xantrius provides his bonus from G22. Since the ship's wheel is between G22 and H22 we'll assume he moved there Round 5)

Nakon leaps smoothly down the steps, crosses the deck in a few easy strides and cuts low at the sailor. Trying to keep Xantrius in sight, he loses his target for a second and ends up plunging his blade harmlessly through the fog. (G21)

Mata races across the aft deck and takes to the steps above Nakon's target. Unfortunately, the advantage of height serves him as well as it served his now deceased attackers, and the man ducks underneath the high swing so it only takes off his turban instead of his head. (F21)

However, Xantrius pronounces his arcane word again (assuming timely inspiration - cross off another spell) and under the man's turban is exposed shattered skull and brain matter. The sailor collapses with the blow and Xantrius rushes around Mata to swing at the now accesible sailor untying the boat. (E20) She leaps back away from his blade and brings her own to bear.

Sevien rushes down through the fog, barely able to see and pulls up next to Xantrius over the fallen sailor. (F20) Now able to make out Xantrius' foe, he zaps her with a flame bolt and she grimaces as the flames flare around her then vanish leaving her skin blistered and blackened.

She barks a command at her standing friend and nods at Sevien, then darts in (E19) to slice at Xantrius.

Xantrius wasn't exactly a paragon of virtue, but he balked at the thought he had almost cut down a woman.

I'm taking this one alive, deal with the other! he declared to his companions as he sought to knock her out with the hilt of his sabre. He skilfully turned her shorter blade to one side and made himself an opening to sidestep in close and try to smash the hilt of his sword into her head.

Not so Xantrius' opponent. She looks at him confused as he twists into her space and smashes her into unconsciousness, slumping to the deck.

Mata/Obsidian wrote:

Male Human Cleric 3 (FC) HP: 25/25 AC: 16

Do we appear to have removed all of the sailors next to the boats? If so...

Another duplicate of Sevien appears as he strides off into the fog. He walks back over to the sailor that surrendered to collect him. He stands above the man,
Come with me and follow my orders or expect a slow, hideous death.
He plans to bring him back to the others.

There is still at least the one I wounded. Just FYI once all the active combatants are down Nakon is going to move to massacre all of the prisoners. Won't just assume he does so without intervention from the other PCs though.

Male Human Cleric 3 (FC) HP: 25/25 AC: 16

Were any orders given or implied regarding prisoners or had we heard of how prisoners have been treated in the past in talking with the crew? I don't want to assume we slaughter the entire crew every time we encounter a ship but Sevien wouldn't be opposed to it as long as we keep the bodies :)

But while the final outcome may be favouring the pirates, more than one body on the deck is not a Rahadoumi sailor and many sailors still fight on, including yours.

Wary, Xantrius is ready for the sharp point and dodges aside.

(Sevien next. Nakon may move after his foe drops)

Male Human Cleric 3 (FC) HP: 25/25 AC: 16

Sevien yells out, Let me know if you need my help, I am making sure things are in order up here. he turns to the sailor

So what cargo were you carrying?

[ooc]Until he is needed you can assume Sevien stays put, he does still hold the flaming sphere in his hand in case another sailor appears to try and attack him.[/b]

Does this mean she loses sight of him in the mist? :)

Nakon will move into F,18 over the body of the sailor as it keeps anyone trying for the boat in his vision. Think that then puts the officer next to him after she moves.

The officer is probably not prepared for the blood splattered grinning man that appears to her side. Nakon shows no sign of following Xantrius command to take prisoners.

Round 11

Initiative
Nakon
Mata
Xantrius
Sevien
Sailors

Effects
- Fog Cloud- The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature within 5 feet has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can’t use sight to locate the target).
- Inspire Courage (Xantrius, Nakon, Mata, Sevien)- +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects (doesn't stack with Flagbearer) and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. (stacks with Flagbearer ) (5th round)
- Flagbearer (Xantrius only)- +1 morale bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, and saving throws against fear and charm effects
- Magic Weapon (Nakon)- +1 TH, +1 Dam (enhancement) (2nd minute)
- Totem Transformation (Nakon)- +2 natural armour (2nd minute)
- Mage Armour (Mata)- +4 AC (armour) (1st hour)
- Fatigued (Mata)- A fatigued character can neither run nor charge and takes a –2 penalty to Strength and Dexterity.

The officer is startled when she sees Nakon but stops short gripping her boarding pike tightly. The weapon is not designed for close quarters but she wields it fluidly despite her separation from the other sailors.
The waters lap peacefully about the two ships, some creaks come from wood twisting against wood and now only a few voices drift through the fog. There is a steady clanging like the sound of a forge and footsteps pace evenly about the deck.
Sevien's shout rings out clearly now and his prisoner's reply can almost be heard. "Bronze, wine and spices. Sir."

It seems yours is one of few battles left.
Your foes appear not to notice, or not to care and continue to fight as if their lives depend upon it. Unsurprising, perhaps.

MAP (Round 11)

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Mata swings at the sailor who unfortunately for him is flanked.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 13
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 46
Damage: 2d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 4 + 1 = 10 Alternating between normal misses and mist misses.

Male Human (Taldan) Buccaneer 3- HP 25/25, AC15, CMD15, F+3, R+4, W+1, 0/12 BP Used, 0/4 Lvl 1 Spells Used

You'd be better off surrendering... Xantrius muttered to the officer, with a tilt of his head at Nakon. He held his position and launched an attack on the sailor, using his blade this time rather than the hilt. Unfortunately, the mist threw his aim off and the blade met only air.

Attack (Flank): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 13
1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 5
1d100 ⇒ 3

Round 11

Nakon shuffles forward step to the west and slashes at the woman.

Scimitar vs Sailor: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 24 (mw, ic)
1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 8
miss: 1d100 ⇒ 38

Deity

Mata and Sevien flank the sailor between them and his precarious situation seems to lend him wings. He ducks, dodges and weaves and while both Mata and Xantrius come close, neither is able to land a blow on the man.

He lashes out wildly with his sword, still at Mata who is between him and the boat.
short sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
20% concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 55
The suddenness takes Mata by surprise and he is unable to get out the way fast enough. Fortunately, the swipe is also lacking in accuracy and Mata only takes a small cut to his upper arm.

Nakon calmly steps beside the officer and carves his scimitar at her. His blow tears through her armour and blood blooms at her side.

The officer, slashed by Nakon and shaken by Xantrius, tries a different ploy. She drops the pike and attempts to dodge past Nakon for the side of the ship.
AoO Nakon

Male Half-Orc Wizard 1 - HP 13/13, 0 non-lethal, AC12, CMD16, F+3, R+2, W+3, Prescience 6/6

Jumping a head of Nakon as I won't have easy access to internet for a while

Mata swing at the annoying sailor who should stand still and just get hit.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 + 2 = 17
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 69
Damage: 2d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 + 1 = 11

Male Human (Taldan) Buccaneer 3- HP 25/25, AC15, CMD15, F+3, R+4, W+1, 0/12 BP Used, 0/4 Lvl 1 Spells Used

Will wait on result of Mata's hit before I declare an action (although if Nakon's AOO lands I think we're done).
