Passing under the broken arch of the lower gatehouse that once housed the monstrous hyena that mauled the bard some months earlier, Falear leaves the others to quickly move down the old road in an attempt to catch up with the fast moving robed figure. He is a short distance ahead of the others when he reaches the intersection at the center of the lower town between the bridge, inn, and slave market. Undra is nowhere to be seen.

Faelar:
Give me a perception check and a will save...

Perception : 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Will Save : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 (18 vs Enchantment Spells and Effects. 20 vs Bardic Performance, Sonic or Language Effects. 22 vs both.)

Faelar:
You glance around the empty ruins looking for signs of Undra, but see nothing of her in the dim starlight. You move toward the bridge, but then stop as a tingle moves up your spine and you spot her stepping out from the old slave market. "Fealar, why do you follow me? Have you changed your mind about my offer?" She moves closer, "I had heard that you had taken another servant, a halfling, but did not believe it."
Her delicate hand touches your arm and you suddenly feel very warm. "Come, let us find some place safe to talk. The night holds many dangers."

Kzrira, et al:
You continue forward on the road and spot a shadow that must be Faelar ducking into the old inn.

Kzrira begins to move at a double pace.

Whisper via Message: Faelar, where are you going? Wait for the rest of us.

my reading of message is that it has to be instigated by Faelar. The spell states that Kzrira may reply to a whisper from Fealar, but I don't believe that she can initiate the conversation.

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

It is oddly worded. I have always thought that the first sentence allows for two way communications: "You can whisper messages and receive whispered replies."

I suppose that this could be interpreted to require the caster to initiate the communication, but then there is no time limit on when the response would be. In most campaigns I am in, I use it regularly to communicate with scouts and slightly dispersed parties. I love combining it with a Rod of Reach to give 600'+ range.

It is a 0th level spell, so if you wish to limit its effects, that is probably not unrealistic.

Voodoo, am I still in control of my own body and mind?"

Faelar Braegen wrote:

yes, and please spoiler your posts for now.

Male Elf Bard - 1

Voodoo:
"I was following you because we saw a dark figure leaving the palace in the dead of night and walk towards the lower town. We wanted to make sure that whoever it was, was not a threat to Her Highness or the town itself. I do not have any servants, as I told you last time, I do not agree with owning people or their rights to live. I have friends; including yourself, who were once slaves and I would try everything in my power to prevent them becoming slaves once again."

I follow Undra to a safe place, my hand no where near my blade now, unlike before while following her.

Falear:
The veiled figure bows her head and sniffles a little. "You are such a beautiful and wonderful being that I do not feel such an ignorant beast as myself is worthy of your friendship."

Sighing, she glances about nervously, "Yes, I will make you some tea and we can talk, but let us get out of the night." You both continue down the road and cross the bridge to the tannery. You hear the music from outside the door and she leads you inside where men and ladies in various states of undress lounge smoking pesh and laughing. A small band consisting of the tabla drum and a stringed oud play music.

Undra asks one of the women to bring tea and leads you into a small room that holds only a worn bed. She bows asking you to please sit upon the bed while she modestly kneels on the ground before you. A tea pot is brought in a few moments later and Undra pours for you both. She chastely moves the cup beneath her veil to drink. She asks, "Do you take pesh? All I have is yours. Just ask."

Male Elf Bard - 1

Voodoo:
I follow Undra and sit upon the bed, seeing her start to kneel I speak up, "Please, do not sit on the floor, sit here; beside me." I tap the bed with my hand. I accept the tea when it is offered, "Thank-you for this, I am most grateful. I was starting to build up a thirst. I do not mean to insult and if I do; I apologise, but I do not partake in Pesh. I find it would hinder my ability to learn and read."

Noticing Undra slip her drink under her veil I stop drinking to look at her, "Why do you still cover your face so? Do you still not trust me enough to show me what you look like beneath your veil?"

Faelar:
She takes a seat next to Faelar and the veiled head tilts downward demurely at his question, "It is for modesty's sake, my beloved. I cannot deny you even this though, Oh Beauteous One."

So saying, she lifts her small gloved hands and pulls off her veil to reveal... an incredible beauty. Long cascading black hair falls around a wide, but fetchingly round face. Faelar especially appreciates the roundness that reminds him of Qilue. Undra's eyes are large and dark with long lashes that flutter downward. Her jaw is strong and lips full. Kzrira kicks aside a few bits of broken wood that remain from the lost door. She winces, but it really isn't as loud as it seems to her. In the doorway, he cautiously shades the light to let just a faint glow sweep over the room. Kzrira hears a creak on the stairs and they both turn to see a pair of feet step up from the stairs to the upper floor.

She has just a moment to consider where the webbing came from before the unseen glossy black spider the size of a camel descends upon her!

You should have skipped the bluff. Ouch.

feinting against critters with Int 1 or 2 takes a huge penalty anyway (-8) so meh.

The great arachnid has trouble regaining its feet as Karethas slicks the ground beneath it. Amir makes an effort to wound it, but is thrown by the wildly waving legs. The black widow clambers back to its feet granting Amir an opening! Amir- AoO!

In the air above, the glowing archon strikes the howling div with glowing bolts wounding it. Kzrira follows it with a deadly barrage and the horned head is returned to wherever it came in a greasy cloud.

Seeing the skull disappear, Kzrira again turns toward the giant spider and looses another barrage of normal arrows.

Attack-rapid shot: 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 2 - 2 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Attack-rapid shot: 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 - 2 - 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Once again, Kzrira is only able to get one shot to land, and this one just grazes the giant arachnid.

At what point am I no longer entangled?

Well with a roll like that I might actually pull it off even with the -8 :p but I would rather the hit...

AoO! Attack! +1 Sholeh: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 - 2 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

Amir continues to fight against the spider.

Attack! +1 Sholeh: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 - 2 = 24
Attack! +1 Simin: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 2 = 13
Damage (Sholeh): 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7

Do you get any bonuses from the sword? I thought it was flaming or something. Also, do you get a crit chance with the 19?
