"If we're prioritizing, I'd say that we head on to the park and complete our first and primary mission. With the thingamagior replaced, we only need to worry about this new lab mission. If we go to the lab and encounter difficulty, we'll be at risk for not completing -two- missions. And I hear tell that's not a good thing to make a habit of."

Max "3yeZ" |

>>I agree. 3yeZ sends out, not speaking.
>>Guards knocked out and shaken down, wiz tech in place, let's roll?

"Da. Let's finish the first contract and be sure of that pay before we mess around with the second"

What’s left of Interstate 290 is a craterous mess. The highway hasn’t been maintained in two decades, so it’s a wonder the roads are even driveable. Oddly, the packed snow and ice help, but it’s a little like learning to play hockey for the first time.
When you arrive at Garfield Park, you find an overgrown series of playgrounds and picnic shelters surrounding a wooded area that’s too small to be called a forest and too large to be called a grove. But you don’t see a transmission node anywhere. Ah, suburbia.

Max "3yeZ" |

Max will start looking around with his augmented senses, surely one of them will pick up something amiss to indicate the disguised node. He also keeps an eye out for any guards or gangers.
with visual and audio zoom, thermo vision, sound filter, and radio signal scanner, he ought to be able to see or hear something

Power considers going Astral to try and tell the difference between a real tree and a fake tree, but seeing that 3yeZ starts looking around in a professional manner, Power makes the decision to just follow him around and keep an eye out for persons taking too great an interest in their little excursion.

Power will forgo Assensing, preferring to keep watch while 3yez checks around. He seems to know what he's doing, and it wouldn't do to get surprised when they still have another task to go to after this one.

Momentarily Max finds the fake tree, and then the most horrific sound possible rings out, a single gun shot....aimed at 1d4 ⇒ 2
Bad Wolf.
It doesn't look like you have anything like combat sense, so we can retcon this as needed
17d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 5, 1, 6, 6, 5, 3, 1, 6, 1, 5, 5, 3, 2, 2) = 63 = 9 hits reduced to 8

i dont know what combat sense is, and damn these enemies rolling ridiculously well against us!!

Liam McGregor |

Resist Armour 5 (9-4) Body 4: 9d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 5, 3, 4, 2, 2, 3) = 30
That's three hits, leaving 18 in damage, 4 more than Bad wolf can survive, so...I guess I have no choice but to burn one edge and hope the rest can stabilize him.

![]() |

Power shouts "DREK! SNIPER, GET DOWN!" and hurls himself at Bad Wolf's prone form. Power digs deep into his internal reserves, and tries to force his way past the background noise, past his self-imposed limits to try and save the shadowrunner's life.
Healing, force 6, Quick Healer: 14d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 4, 6, 2, 4, 4, 6, 4, 3, 4, 4, 1) = 51 = 3 hits

Power reels slightly, heady with the exertion of such a large spell. In truth, he thought he'd not have to case something that large, preferring to pace himself on his first day out, but, as they say....
plus ca change.
Fun Fact: Plus ca Change was the name of the first short story of the first edition of Shadowrun. =)

Adrik "Rick" Ivanov |

Rick falls to the ground and scans the area from where the shot originated switching from low=light to thermographic vision as needed.

Liam McGregor |

Re-reads edge rules, wait a moment, I can spend edge to re-roll the dice that didn't succeed rather than the whole roll? That might just be perfect here.
spend edge to re-roll failed dice: 9d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3, 3, 3, 6) = 36
Whew, skin of my teeth here!

![]() |

Okay, let me just get this straight so I know that I can follow it. So, he had 18 incoming, armor spell took 1, re-rolled edge for 3, leaving 14, which is his overflow + 4, leaving him stabilized. Then I healed him for 7, putting him at -7 Physical.
(Of note, at 4 overflow, he might not need to burn Edge. Unless we're gonna leave that as the price of playing poker. ;-)

![]() |

Sorta he was at 21 got 3 hits for the soak, for 18.
gave him a retcon for armor got 1 more, leaving 17.
burned edge to get reroll for all get 3 more hits leaving 14.
Which placed him just before dead. Then you healed him (not sure if the quick healer trait applies here I need to go reread that.)
healing 7, but now he cannot use a first aid kit.
So he is at 7 Physical right now.
and there is still the sniper on the roof!

Max "3yeZ" |

Do we know of gangs or other power groups in this area who would be defending this area? Also, does the trajectory of the bullet match the placement of his hooting/hollering self? And does that suggest anything strange to my myriad of special visions/sounds?

Max "3yeZ" |

no, i was mostly trying to see if someone sniping us would really be so stupid as to give their position away so handily.
that said, no way we are getting that far in a combat timeframe. we need to take cover and advance carefully.
unless your spells can reach him. or someone has a laser to shine in his scope to cover us. one of my guns has a laser but i dont know how far that'll reach

![]() |

Exactly. It's more likely that he's the distraction and there's another shooter in the area. Hence, if he's shouting when the other shot goes off, we know he's not the shooter. And the range of magic is mostly described as just "line of sight", meaning if I somehow manage to survive this shot I can make his day a lot more interesting. =)
