Barton Savage |
(Lingering Luck 1/2)
Bart makes a 5' step and swings at #1
longsword: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 13 (power attack, luck, heroism, flank)
damage: 1d8 + 5 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 4 + 2 = 12
Dargorath |
I believe the burst of radiance for 6 damage hit it too, since the damage on burst of radiance is no save
Now this is trying to squint at the map from phone - so I am not sure if this is the correct interpretation of the current scene.
Dargorath summons a small earth elemental between Ivar and the armored wight.
The intention is to block the wight from approaching Ivar. If it is not possible for that to happen, then a small air elemental will be summoned and will use its whirlwind ability on Ivar to whirlwind him away.
Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
dmg: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
dmg on crit: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Applying Earth mastery for +1 to attack and damage canceling out power attack bonus as both creatures are on the ground
He then fires two shots at the armored wight.
bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Dargorath |
I don't think there's any space for you in melee unless you have a reach weapon. I've been deliberately trying to body block the wight from reaching you.
Dargorath |
Good point. Damn, should have gone for air elemental airlift then. Didn't think it through. Yeah that's a surprise from me. You should get the fk out and let dinosaurs do it though.
Malok, the East Wind |
Malok finishes his spell and another Earth Elemental joins the fray.. Both attack the armored one.
Attack Ele 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 2 rounds left
Dam: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Attack Ele 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 3 rounds left
Dam: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Malok casts a spell and hurls a snowball at the armored one.
Snowball RTA: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Cold Dam: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 5) = 14
Crit: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 1) = 11
He directs his raptor to move up.
Malok, the East Wind |
The elemental's continue to pound the wight to dust..
"Well that was interesting.."
drbuzzard |
+1 heavy pick, splint mail
The unarmored wight wears a silver chain with a key around her neck, which opens the rusted strongbox in area C3. Armored wight wears a small locket of tarnished silver, engraved with the initials F. C. and containing a faded portrait of a kindly looking man holding a small child. This is the locket that Athyra wants returned to her, depicting her father and herself in happier times.
Dargorath |
"The armored wight was Artya's father." He notes sorrowfully, looking at the locket. "It must have been that evil orb that caused him to rise as undead." Dargorath declares, then draws his Morningstar and smashes the orb, hesitating no longer.
"We'd better burn the bodies."Dargorath says.
Dargorath drops 2 channels and a CLW on Ivar.
channel 2x: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
He then asks for leave from the party to find Athyra to offer her his condolences for her father.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Smiling at the well placed arrows, "Good shooting Malok." Ivar returns his shield to it's strap.
Walking up to the pick, he lifts it and tests its weight. "Any one care if I keep this? The girl didn't seem real interested in what was down here."
When Dargorath recommends going and talking to the cute jungle girl, Ivar rolls his eyes, "Can't we have the pathfinders take her the information? Remember there are others after our goal also."
Malok, the East Wind |
"We can always tell her the news on our way back through. We should be moving forwards, not backwards."
drbuzzard |
Actually you go back out to find here, and cannot.
You have cleared this area and proceed on through the mine.
The drift opens into a large cavern filled with immense piles of rock salt chunks. Shovels, picks, and other mining tools lie scattered about the chamber. At the opposite end of the shaft , a neatly excavated wall supports a pair
of double iron doors.
Using GM hijinks she is waiting at the far end for you to arrive and thanks you for laying her missing parents to rest. She offers to act as a scout for your caravan, which will help it move through the area more quickly.
However she won't fight because your GM is too lazy to want to run her.
Dargorath |
Dargorath returns to Artya and tells her that her father is dead, and shows her the silver locket, telling her that he always cared for her. He also volunteers to stay with her to look after all her dinosaurs and help make sure that people don't hunt her dinosaurs for pelts ever again.
Hindi Higante |
I cast Guidance on Ivar a couple of times as he prepares to attempt to save against his unfortunate circumstances.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
getting up the next morning, Ivar speaks with Hindi for a brief moment, nodding to the Gnome. "Thank you for your guidance, Hindi."
first fortitude roll @ -2 levels + guidance
fort: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 + 1 = 12
not feeling any better he speaks with Hindi again, asking for more guidance.
second fortitude roll @ -2 levels + guidance
fort: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 2 + 1 = 8
Shaking his head, he shrugs, "Still feel like crap, maybe we will find a caster that can help us later. We may as well press on."
Sir Galittlehad the Not So Pure |
Ready to go!
"Lemme go first till you feel better, Ivar. Bros help each other!"
Hindi Higante |
In a quiet moment, I establish a life link with each of the members of the party: Ivar, Galittlehad, Lalali-Re, Barton, Malok. And I remind everyone that they should stay within 150' of me if they want to keep it. And if anyone goes past 60' from me, I can't see you as my eyes really aren't that good. So I may shout "Marco" and you can shout "Polo" so I can try to find my way towards you.
I also remind the group that in my belt pouch is a vial of smelling salts just in case I "accidentally" fall unconscious and you really need to wake me up.
drbuzzard |
You depart from the mine and head on your way.
As the trail skirts the northern border of the Laughing Jungle, the PCs spot a wisp of smoke on the horizon, coming from a small Zenj village huddling under the jungle’s eaves. When its inhabitants spot the PCs approaching, they quickly attempt to make contact with them, seeming quite eager to trade goods as well as a share their hospitality. With cheerful greetings in Polyglot and broken Common, the villagers invite the PCs to join them for supper.
Lalali-Re |
Looking forward to the meal but distrustful of possible savages, Lalali chats them up and takes a closer look at the supper, hoping it's not poisoned, nor that they are the supper themselves.
That's really nice to invite us. What will you serve? Did anyone else come through here lately? You should really tell us everything, we are searching for some possible friends and a special location.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Casting detect poison on the food just in case^^
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Earlier
Ivar nods his head as the gnome explains, "Life-link, one-hundred and fifty feet, 'Marco', smelling salts, got it." Drawing out a couple of the vials in his pouch. "In return, if I drop please feed me one of these potions."
the villiage
Following the villiagers Ivar asks, "Would you happen to have a witch doctor that can remove the effects of a wight attack?"
Just trying to get rid of these negative levels :-)
drbuzzard |
"We will serve monkey stew, poi, and yucca. Normale fare. I know of no visitors. You should talk to shaman. She knows all. " to Lalali
to Ivar "Not know if shaman can fix. Ask shaman. She talk to you later. "
If the PCs accept the invitation, they are greeted by everyone in the village. Villagers smile, toting baskets of fruit, meat, and laundry. Others sit in the shade weaving leaves and vines. Barefoot children dart about chasing each other around the small huts. The only person who seems uninterested in the visitors is an older woman with a painted face who, upon their arrival, ducks into her hut and pulls a cloth across the doorway. If asked about the woman, one of the villagers says, “She is our shaman, and is old and wary.”
Supper consists of flatbread, fresh fruit, and a tasty porridge seasoned with sweet tubers. After the meal the PCs are offered a heady wine and treated to an impressive performance of acrobatics, dancing, and fire-eating as night falls. At the end of the festivities, the villagers offer the PCs a hut to sleep in, then retire to their own huts.
As the PCs prepare for bed, they receive a visitor—the village shaman. She waits to be invited in, then sits down next to the small fire with a heavy sigh. After a few moments of silence, she speaks in thickly accented Common.
“I am an old woman, and set in my ways. My master taught me long ago that foreigners like yourselves carry curses. But this village suffers under a curse already, and all my magic has so
far failed to lift it. The spirits do not help me and I have nowhere else to turn. Perhaps I have been wrong all these years, and perhaps you are the ones who can help free us from the curse.”
drbuzzard |
If the PCs seem willing to listen, the shaman informs them that the village is plagued by a chemosit, a malevolent and cunning ape-bear that delights in human prey, particularly relishing the taste of human brains. The beast has come out of the jungle every night for 2 weeks, stealing into the village in search of victims.
The witch doctor asks the PCs to save her village and her people by killing or driving off the wicked beast. She has little of value to offer them as a reward, apart from a grisly charm and an old treasure map.
Hindi Higante |
Thinking to myself that I just got through with a feast that featured 'monkey' stew and coincidentally a monkey thing is attacking the village. I wonder if the two might be connected.
"Of course we can be of assistance in this matter. We should prepare for this evening."
I just remembered I forgot my lion tamer whip back at home. I guess I'll just have to rely on my charm and Handle Animal skill.
Hindi doesn't have a death wish, he just doesn't have the Wisdom to remember that his size reminds animals of small prey food which is why he took an interest in Handle Animal so that he could at least try not to get eaten again.
Hindi Higante |
"I'm hiding standing behind you Ivar so I can try talking to the animal from a safe distance.
Barton Savage |
"From the description, it sounds like a chemosit ... a rare magical beast that dines almost exclusively on halflings..." Bart muses as he watches Galittlehad out of the corner of his eye.
Bart climbs into the rafters, so he can "surprise" the ape-bear monster when it comes in for it's latest sacrifice....
climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Malok, the East Wind |
"Halflings? It might just like short people.. In that case we should take care of it immediately."
Sir Galittlehad the Not So Pure |
"No. Definitely no!" says the halflingdin stomping around.
"I won't be bait without being properly seasoned! BRING THE PAPRIKA!"
