Agree. Ferocity is a powerful ability that lets them live after they are below zero. Orcs have it also. The first book of Giantslayer is filled with orcs and my players hate ferocity now...It's like having to kill them 2 or 3x over.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

That’s why my Giantslayer character uses hypnotic pattern! :)

Opps about the post and yeah the ferocity thing is rather brutal. Which makes it lovely :D

Think all of your characters' reactions to Saul's killing were spectacular! Love that this group is so emotive in character rather than just moving along. Well done!

I know that retconning a bit of the story wasn't the most popular, but I hope you can see why it was necessary. Some denouement for the guy who's been running your lives for weeks is important.

We are now basically back to where we your prior GM left off. The open hatch in the middle of the floor of the arena. But you're a level higher, with a little better gear, and hopefully some sense of closure.

Onward and upward.

LMK if you are enjoying the game so far, and if there's anything I can do to make it more enjoyable for you!

Whoa! I take one nap and suddenly there's twelve posts! We've truly resurrected now!

How do you like my foreshadowing of Orendel possibly taking Leadership and starting his own mercenary band (for off-camera stuff, I obviously don't expect them to fight at our side).

Sorry for the wall-o-text on the Gameplay thread. The condensed version is that Silvio is no longer trusting the lawful authorities over the character of his companions. Yay, character growth!

DM DoctorEvil, you are doing a fantastic job with this game! I love your Saul, he's a real charmer. Only part I regret about Cherry offing him is I won't get to see more of that in action.

And thanks to Meghan for jumping into this game!

Dougal Fairbairn wrote:

I will update Dougal with the magic armor. Assume your old set goes in the "sell pile".

Cherry will you confirm you take the magical rapier? It is envenomed, but that's easy enough to clear away. Add your existing to the loot pile?

Who takes the CLW potions?

Any takers on the rest? Or add to the sell pile? Any Appraise checks on the ruby earring or the familar looking signet?

What about Nature checks on the black salve?

All this reminds me I have liquidated the rest of the loot yet, so I will post one last time, and then turn into cash which you can shop for other items before you go below if you choose to.

Here is the unclaimed loot with the things from the Octohedron fight added in:

MW Leather
Rapier
Light Crossbow
10 bolts
Wand of Shocking Grasp (9 charges)
Bracers of Armor +1
Potion of Bull's Strength
Black Adder Poison
MW Scimitar
Heavy Steel Shield
Gold and Sapphire Necklace 500gp
Garnet Necklace 200gp
Fine Cigars x5 25gp total
Longsword x2
Shortbow x2
80 arrows
MW Shortbow x2
Thieves' Tools X3
Studded Leather
Heavy Wooden Shield
Parade Armor x2
MW Battleaxe
MW Handaxe
Leather Armor +1
Ruby Earring (not appraised)
Signet Ring (not appraised)
Black Salve x2 (not identified)

I will suggest Orendel and Cherry take CLW potions. Everyone else has CLW magic available.

Orendel should probably take the potion of bull's strength, too, in case we run into something with damage reduction (since he uses a two-handed weapon).

Meghan will take the remaining 10 crossbow bolts as well.

We left off one more piece of unclaimed loot. Bacon!

I will assume the potions get distributed as you suggest unless a receiver has a significant issue with it.

I also listed the rest of the crossbow bolts for Meghan.

Selling all the rest, but saving out the unappraised jewelry and unidentified salve, gives a total of 4715gp. Divided 5 ways, that's 943gp per player.

If you take the next day to go shopping, you should be able to find most magic items with a book value of 2500gp or less with no trouble (75% chance to find); other items will be more scarce here.

The items on the above list are now gone. I will, at some point, attach a Loot Tracker worksheet to the top margin to make keeping track a bit easier in the future.

Can you each tell me what your starting gold is before the 973gp windfall above? I have some calculations if you don't know, but would rather rely on your suggested starting number.

Silvio has 82.9 gold prior to the windfall.

*Edit*: Side question--can I change Silvio's teamwork feat from "Shake It Off" to "Scarred Legion"? I just added that feat this level, and it hasn't come into play in any way so the switch doesn't really impact anything.

Okay, I made the switch to "Scarred Legion" (which was made easier because I forgot to add a teamwork feat to my actual character sheet in the first place). Silvio is a little bit more intimidating and more determined than ever after some rough experiences in the fight to find Saul.

The 4.5 gp listed on Meghan's sheet is what she had left over from character creation; I never updated it with anything from the game itself (which, in hindsight, is good, since Meghan never actually experienced those encounters--the other PCs did).

How about I roll three Perform checks and three Profession (gambler) check, then total what they would have earned Meghan? Then you can OK adding some or all of that income to Meghan's gold total.

I'll add in Riddleport's Economy modifier (+5, according to the stat block on page 22 of Varisia, Birthplace of Legends). Also, Meg's gladhanding ability doubles her earnings from Perform checks.

Profession (gambler; Economy): 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 5 = 26 = 13 gp
Profession (gambler; Economy): 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 5 = 26 = 13 gp
Profession (gambler; Economy): 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 5 = 24 = 12 gp

Perform (act; Economy): 1d20 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 5 = 27 = Memorable Performance
Perform (act; Economy): 1d20 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 5 = 22 = Great Performance
Perform (act; Economy): 1d20 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 5 = 19 = Enjoyable Performance

Memorable Performance (gp earned): 1d6 ⇒ 1 x 2 = 2 gp
Great Performance (sp earned): 3d10 ⇒ (3, 6, 2) = 11 x 2 = 22 sp (2.2 gp)
Enjoyable Performance (sp earned): 1d10 ⇒ 10 x 2 = 20 sp (2 gp)

By my calculations, that'd add another 44.2 gp to Meghan's coffers. Acceptable?

Meghan, ok with me. So a total of 48.7?

Correct.

Plus the 973 = 1,021.7. Recording that on Meghan's sheet now.

I have attached my version of a Loot Tracker at the top margin. There are three tabs.

The first tab shows the loot that has been found but is unclaimed by a party member. As things get appraised or identified, they will show up here before that their values may be unknown or simply estimated. When they are sold or claimed by a party member, they will be deleted from here. In game terms, you cannot access items on this list while in rounds, they must be claimed first. When not in rounds, you can use or access regularly.

The second tab is a running cash tracker, with the current cash value at the top of the sheet. The rest is simple addition and subtraction. I asked for starting cash earlier, but only got a couple of responses, so I have filled in with the value I show. I will take yours if you tell me what it is...

The third tab is allocation of loot as it is claimed by the players. In this way, you can see, if it matters to you, who has the taken the most or most valuable things so far. Items bought from coin do not go here.

Hope you find this useful, I use it in my PBP and RL games.

Sweet! I am happy to see a nice loot management system. This one looks good to me.

I have to say, Seductive Channel has nice flavor but in terms of execution, the once-per-day is brutal. It'd be a little better if there wasn't a cap, or if the baddies couldn't resist accepting the healing!

Yeah. In the other game we lost our cleric, so Meg was having to use all her bard spells for CLWs. When I took the dip for one level of cleric, I wanted to pump up her healing potential as much as possible. It's still halfways decent at low levels.

39 gp 9sp, 5cp was what was left after character creation. 66 gp 1sp, 5cp is what I have currently then I get to add 1,021.7... For a total of 1087gp 8 sp, and 5cp.

As I side note another player I have been playing with for a year or two is asking if anyone in has a spot for a new player. I figured I would ask here first. An amazing player and a writer so very skilled with the written word. If not no biggy.

And I am always down for more healing. Cayden's channel feat is Liberation Channel is not so amazing and is so late game. Though there are some good ones for Good Deities. I totally forgot there are deity specific choices.

Yeah a wand is a great idea, no need to burn the spells and more than one person can use that. Shield of Faith for the extra AC might also be worth it.

Beyond that I will be wanting to pick up a chain shirt until I can get the armor I want. Mithral is pricey. A heavy mace. An ioun torch, Sleeves of many garments

385gp in total and I assume I can find these things.

I should probably pick up that tiger fork, but something else I want is a heavy shield with the Heraldic enchantment so I don't have to tie a cloth to my spear and have it get all bloody (and for Orendel to metaphorically shed that part of his past and move forward), but such a shield is at least 2,000 gp I think.

Wait, Heraldric is an enchantment that costs +1? That's nuts! You should just paint whatever symbol you want on your shield.

As Cherry suggested before, Orendel should get a masterwork heavy darkwood shield (257 gp), which has no armor check penalty. That should solve your problems with the Shield Brace feat.

I didn't realize masterwork heavy darkwood shield was that cheap! Still, I play by the rules, and the rules say unless it's heraldic, I can't use my shield as a banner.

Looks like I'll still have the tattered Molthune flag tied to my spear for a time. The tiger fork should be masterwork too, right? I can afford it?

The cost without the armor is -287gp. Leaves 602.15 in your bank.

If you pitched in for the wand, you don't have enough. That was 150 per person. You'd be down 40gp. Want to forgo the Cold iron on the MW tiger fork?

You would have new spell slots for the new day. You can list MW Transformation if you want, but need to tell me what you give up.

Because Silvio is more of a front liner who might fall in combat, I think the CLW wand should go to someone else, no particular preference as to who.

Thank you, Silvio!

Right.. I got the chain shirt... I knew that..was that a +1?... Cause I forgot to add that to my sheet and I am not that smart.

And I dropped life link for the masterwork thing.

I tend to suck in combat cause that is what I do. So I could take the wand.

Meghan will likely be Cherry's buffing and flanking buddy in combat, so I'm good with Dougal holding and using the wand.

EDIT: Oh, and since this version of Meg likely doesn't know either Samaritha or Kwava, she'll abstain from voting on seeing them first or heading for the trapdoor.

I'm ready to either fight through the basement or pay our elfy friends a visit.
