Something is afoot in Varisia. There have been a series of odd murders in a small town on the west coast called Sand Point and more recently the capital Magnimar, where even the lord-mayor was a target. A cult of serial murderers called the Skinsaw Men was uncovered and stopped. We have also received reports of more activity along the border.

I would like you to go see the lord-mayor of Magnimar. Assure him the Pathfinder society will do what we can to help him. Investigate these goings on and see if there is a common thread to all this unrest. We have a lot of interests in Varisia and would like to maintain the good graces of the government. I doubt the lord mayor will have you sitting around for long. It is a big place and inevitably something will need attention.

So how does that sound? A mission without a precise goal and with no guarantee of coin. Ha! Are you up for it?

If you are exiting into the courtyard through the secret door will it be the entire party without Rolande and Anaba who will hold the stairwell here?

If that is the case will you be double moving up there? If so it will take 6 rounds for your group to assemble in front of the secret door.

Is that the plan?

Sekkim isn't sure what the plan is. He's a little nervous about splitting the party, but if a group is splitting off he will go with them. He'll leave Lumpy to brace the secret door behind them if they have to flee, and will use message on them both to make it easier to reunite later.

Ok so rolande, Anaba and Lumpy stay back while everyone else goes to the secret door by the courtyard. You gather there, but some buffs wore off. Lead blades, bless and enlarge and any other short duration buffs most likely.

I feel the same way actually. If we split the party, the group going upstairs should be a stealthy group. Going in invisible and searching for the lamia to kill or perhaps going to the top of the stairs and clearing the way for the rest of us to go up. Or, leave a rudimentary party to hold the bottom of the stairs. What would you suggest, Sekkimm?


I need a list of anyone going upstairs to exit the secret door into the courtyard. There are shouts and sounds of activity as heavy Ogres move about the Keep. The entire place is on alert. There is a pause in the fighting at the lower door, since the dead ogres are blocking the passage. Rolande, Anaba or Lumpy any actions like removing a dead ogre?

If you are 6 rounds and what actions are you taking (i.e. Gloves of Reconnaissance, spells/ buffing?)

Six rounds to get there across the rickety bridge (one at a time).

I am going to move a dead ogre out of the way so I can continue to kick butt while the rest of the party does their thing.


As you gather Anaba uses her reach to remove a dead body.

This exposes the stairs going back up and an Ogre with a prepared action.

There is no longer a Ogre on the stairs...looks like they are considering their options.

While I am waiting for Rolande to ponder my query, I am going to move the other stinky and disgusting corpse away.

Three rounds of no activity go by only shouts and noise from upstairs. The other group just reaches the secret door.

A large shield (Ogre sized metal shield = Total cover) comes out and sets up position at the top of the stairs and is set in place.

Bless buff ends.

Anaba your enlarge, bulls strength and lead blades buffs wear off as well.

OK on to the other group you are in front of the other door - actions?


Sorry got tied up testing a product. I couldn't think of a way to draw them down so we need to double move and head out the secret door and be the second wave behind the other group, leaving Lumpy to guard the secret door, since Sekkim has Messenger on us he should be able to recall Lumpy to help if needed. I will drag Kaven over and tell Lumpy to "Stay here and make sure he doesn't leave and if the Ogres come down the stairs fight them. If they do come down the stairs and Kaven tries to leave, kill him".


Rolande and Anaba abandon this position (taking Lumpy with you?) and head up stairs. (6 rounds away - Lumpy is 10 because he has to squeeze through much of the area 1/2 move)

Casting bless


Open Fort Rannick Courtyard map (not my best and it is not the entire fort). See Fort Rannick Map for the full picture, but this is to scale 5' squares.

Cela casts bless from the wand (10 rounds +1 to hit and save) for everyone by the secret door.

You see three ogres in the courtyard and two in the towers by the gates. There is more courtyard and towers which you have no line of sight.

Buchart, I'm unsure of the duration of the buffs you cast what did you cast the is over 1 minute duration.

Shield was a 6 min. duration, should have 2-3 minutes left on it. Will cast Bull's Strength (wand @3rd CL, 3 min.) and Enlarge (wand @2nd CL, 2 min.). Will cast Elemental Touch (electrical, 1 min. 6 touches) just before exiting the door to courtyard. Will enhance weapon as I strike the first ogre. Using wand of vampiric touch in off hand.


Buchart casts Bulls strength.

just don't forget that stepping on the edges of the pit can make you fall in as well - so the pit is 10 by 10, but the AoE is 20 by 20.


Yes should Fahari make a save or does he just need to move before his turn ends?

He didn't make it that far he moved 16 squares and is done "he moves toward Vale (double move)" - go your turn
