nice choice. I need to get a map ready. This one will be cross-sectional, like playing an old Castlevania game, ahah!

MAP UPDATED. The night passes uneventfully on top of the grassy noll that the map calls out. In the morning you look east. About a mile away you can see the beach. And out to sea a few more miles, two rocky spires. Besides the giant Roc nest on top of one, the spires are of little note. Until the sun rises. You walk around the noll until you come to the spot where this rising sun is set perfectly between them. This must be the spot where the treasure is buried.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
well that was surprisingly uneventful
Ivar, seeing the spot where this rising sun is set perfectly between them, he places his axe, shield, pack and armor on the ground nearby, removing the four shovels from his pack he hefts one and sets the other three conspicuously on the ground.
we should be able to dig two at a time quite easily, if we take turns it will go quickly and no one will be too worn out,
and he then begins to dig.
do you want a check for strength or constitution or both ? :)
Merelinda Falvian
Rhea, you're killing my lusting! :P
Merelinda anticipates Bayani becoming the second in the dig brigade, at least the morning shift. She stands to the side to admire the diggers. If and when they get tired, if the treasure is not found yet, she will unenthusiastically but dutifully pick up a shovel and start to dig.
Rhea Stardust
Haha! We should just turn this into a nasty lust-ka-pade game!
Ivar's shovel hits wood. And bone...
map updated.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
... lust-ka-pade...
Ivar's ...wood...
it's all in the editing
Ivar climbs out of the hole, dropping the shovel and picking up his axe tells the team
we've got wood
and jumps back down in the hole to try and smash through
he is standing on boards on one side chopping boards on the other side
attacks wood? two handed chop 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 for damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
attacks wood? two handed chop 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 for damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
attacks wood? two handed chop 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 for damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
attacks wood? two handed chop 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 for damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Bayani Nishou
Bayani assists with the shoveling, certainly -- and doesn't mind the eyes of Merelinda, or anyone else (especially Aerys and Tusara if they're watching) on him as he sweats and gets dirty under the tropical sun.
When Ivar makes his announcement, Bayani quips, "Speak for yourself!"
Rhea Stardust
As Ivar is chopping the wood he realizes the bone that has been exposed by the digging is attached to a skeleton. Poor bastard must have been buried alive in here by the pirate.
Ivar is getting close to breaking through. AC5, Hardness 3, HP30 (7 left)
Rhea Stardust
That's when the platform gives way. Anyone standing down there with Ivar: Reflex save DC16.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
aawwww, he was on the other side...reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Ivar grasps the roots on the side of the shaft just before it tumbles into the water below with a splash. clinging to the root with one hand and his axe with the other, Ivar calls up to the group,
would someone grab the rope out of my pack and drop me a line?
Bayani Nishou
reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Bayani grabs onto the side of the shaft as the bottom gives way.
What? Why are you snickering?
Immediately, he uses his magic to send a sensor down into the hole to see what's down there.
Using send senses. Functions as clairvoyance.

MAP UPDATED.
Bayani in his minds eye sees a dark pool of water at the bottom of the shaft. You also smell something TERRIBLE. It's too dark to see anything else.
Bayani Nishou
Bayani describes what he sees below. Would require two uses of the send senses ability, since it only lasts for one round. I've marked that as appropriate.
"And, by Nethys, something REEKS! Unless Ivar had some bad rations last night, I think there might be something truly foul down below."
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
Ivar, not enjoying hanging by a root over gods know what, snarls at Bayani,
you didn't notice the smell when I was the one with the axe doing the work
he calls up to the team,
would someone drop a rope and secure it so we can climb out?
he says to Bayani
once were out we can either armor up and drop back down to see what's there or we can use the grappling hook and bring it up to us and deal with it in the light of day.
finding his sense of humor he says
or we can get a long straw and let Merelinda suck it dry
he laughs a little at his own joke then smiles and says conspiratorially
Not a word not a single word, I would never hear the end and you know she would find you culpable too!
Merelinda Falvian
Admiral Akbar, you've never steered me wrong!
Merelinda gets the indicated rope out of Ivar's pack and secures it to something nearby. Once she knots it securely, she drops the end down, making sure to get it on Bayani's side first. Priorities.
Rhea Stardust
You haul the two men back up the shaft THAT did not sound good. Sorry. Once on the surface again you decide what to do next. MAP UPDATED just moved Ivar and Bayani back top side...
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
Ivar, nodding to Merelinda, trying to hide a silly smile, attaches the grappling hook to the rope and drops it back down in the water to try and fish out whatever the large things are; then pull one of them up to get a good look at it.
so grappling hook, then hoist it up; but not high enough to touch :) Ok the next question is what kind of roll do I make to grapple hook? is there such a thing as a ranged grapple?
ranged grapple, CMB using dex instead of str. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 I bet that's a miss :) do you want me to try it again or is there something else mechanically we should do?
Bayani Nishou
"Easy, man, 'twas but a jape," Bayani responds when Ivar snarls at him.
Up top, Bayani arranges to drop a small piece of wood with Light cast on it down the hole, and uses his second send senses to spy the humanoid shapes.
Do they appear to react to the light being dropped down? Presumably it is now floating on the water. Also, how far down is it?
Bayani casts Mage Armor on himself in preparation for the descent.
Merelinda Falvian
Merelinda gives Ivar a curious smile when they get topside after his silly look. Her brow furrows as she shrugs, again looking curious as he attaches a grappling hook and starts dropping it down.
"Find something interesting down there?"
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
Ivar shrugs trying not to laugh when Merlinda said "down there" you can tell he is starting to trust the team enough to relax a little.
Bayani said something might be down there, so I'm just fishing for floaters
he continues dropping the grappling hook in the water, if he feels the weight of something he will try and pull it up into the light.
having an epiphany, he asks Merelinda
if I pull the grappling hook up could you cast light on it so we can see whats down there?
Merelinda Falvian
Thinking that 'floaters' probably wasn't anything she would be interested in, Merelinda nonetheless positions herself to where she can cast a light spell down the well once Ivar catches something and starts to tug it upward.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
Ivar, concerned for Merelinda well being this close to the rim, pulls the grappling hook up and holds it so she can cast light on it, after she does he drops the grappling hook into the water to see what he is trying to "catch"
looking down at the glowing grappling hook Ivar says
much better, now I can see what I am doing, thank you Merelinda
trying to see the "floaters" with the light from the hook perception: 1d20 ⇒ 7 or not, is there a skill roll you want for catching whatever is in here?
Rhea Stardust
The bodies do not react to the light. They stay very very still.
The hook fishes around in the water but catches nothing. Looks like it hits bottom down some 15 feet under the surface.
Merelinda Falvian
Merelinda peers into the gloom, eyes squinting.
Wisdom Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
"I think there might be a tunnel beneath the water." Her tone implies that she is probably not keen on exploring it.
Rhea Stardust
Sure Ivar can try that...to hook one of the bodies is an attack roll vs AC17. Once hooked, haul it up with a DC18 str check. Failure means it falls back down into the water and have to re hook it.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
hook attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
pull strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Ggggrrrrr
Ivar frustrated that whatever is in the water slipped off of his hook
hook attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
hook attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
hook attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
hook attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
hook attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
hook attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
OK, now we will pull it up
pull strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
is this a strength check he can be aided on? If not he will throw the hook down in disgust and prepare to descend the rope with Bayani
Bayani Nishou
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
"Alright. Can we attach the rope to something?" Bayani looks around for anything to attach it to. Bayani gets out his own rope, made of elven silk.
Rhea Stardust
Ivar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Albrecht: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Merelinda: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Tusara: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Bayani: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Ivar climbs first, then Bayani. The water is COLD. A dank rotten smell permiates the air. No sooner do you release the rope and begin to tread water than the three bodies roll over, snarl and reach for you!
Fighting in water requires a swim check each round: Make a Swim check once per round while you are in the water. Success means you may swim at up to half your speed (as a full-round action) or at a quarter of your speed (as a move action). If you fail by 4 or less, you make no progress. If you fail by 5 or more, you go underwater.
Rhea Stardust
Round 1...GO!
Rhea Stardust
MAP UPDATED
Rhea Stardust
The water is calm. You can use a one handed thrown weapon with no special check. To use a bow or other two handed weapon requires a water-polo type popup. So you need to make DC20 on the swim check. As always You go underwater if you fail THAT check by 5 or more.
Here is a video of some high school girls that can teach Bayani how.
Bayani Nishou
How deep is the water?
-Posted with Wayfinder
Bayani Nishou
I don't know if Bayani needs to swim anywhere. Can I tread water without a check and just throw chakrams?
Swim check if needed: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
attack with Chakram, pbs, aiming at the same thing that Ivar hit.: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 = 22
damage, pbs, sharpened: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 9
Knowledge(religion) to know what these are: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Rhea Stardust
30 ft to surface of the water. Water is
15 ft deep. Um, still thinking about Bayani's questions...
Merelinda Falvian
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
F#*%! Merelinda is not pleased with the two warriors' insistence on diving right into the problem, so to speak. She starts to carefully make her way down the rope (Bayani's silk rope), sliding down carefully.
Moving 15 ft down (double move) while taking 10 on a climb check, if I can do that.
