Steinolf Stone
Moving into position, Steinolf attacks out at one of the remaining living creatures.
Atack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
threat confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
additional Crit DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
The longsword is cold iron just as a refresher.
Steinolf Stone
Steinolf will make his way around and making sure these blue creatures are finished off, then he will go check on the elk that was slayed. He will put his sword away and check to see if the creature is dead.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
“Mordred, from the way those creatures acted previously we know they are tricksters. They could have been doing something to cause this elk to act as an ally to them. It could be that this elk, which is out of its natural habitat, was frightened and wanted to get home....”
Gavinia Hornsten
Gavinia searches the bodies. "The elk may also have been a companion to one of these fairies, such as druids or wizards sometimes have. But I don't think we can rule out magical compulsion either."
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
anyone seriously damaged? only got one CLW left
Garrasay
Garassay looks over the slain elk and the fey.
"Rrrrrr. Such a shame. I wonder if these blue fey infesting the forest are the cause for the weather, or a symptom of it. How did the bandits get involved in all of this? We should press on to see if we can save the lady and find a way to put an end to all this. grrrrr.
He makes ready to move on when the rest of the group is prepared.
Steinolf Stone
With only 1 CLW remaining I would wait. I’m, only down 3 HP. <- Famous last words.
“Can anyone tell if this creature is still alive? If it is just going to die we should mercifully end its suffering. If it is going to live we could help it a little.”
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 <- +1 vs Traps
_Mordred_
“All that matters to me is that it attacks , save any moral quandary for later after we find who we are looking for ; plus the meat will serve us well in this environment “ with that morde takes his throwing axe out to carve out some choice meat and some fur before moving on knowing that we don’t have much time he will be as quick as he can
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Gavinia Hornsten
Anything on the fairies besides weapons?
Can spare an hour, I think.
Checkpoint Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Garrasay
Assuming that the elk is dead
"Hhhrrrgm. What's done is done. I am fine with taking what we need now, it is going to feed the animals of the woods now so I see no reason why we shouldn't take a share for ourselves."
Garrasay assists Morde and then makes ready to move on.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The snow falling snow keeps sticking to his bushy eyebrows and he spends most of the time trying to brush it away just so he can see the path ahead.
Steinolf Stone
“All that matters is that it attacks? By that logic I attack also... take your time. I’ll scout around.”
I previously rolled a 15(16 vs traps) perception. I want to spend sometime looking around fallowing tracks and clear some of the area while we wait for dinner.
Survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 +1 Tracking

The date is 4713 AR on Fireday, 18th Earstus at 10:15 am - current moon cycle: waxing crescent
The location is The Border Wood - Wishbone Creek
With the sustained wintry weather over the past several days, a small stream called Wishbone Creek has frozen over. A human-sized snowman stands in the middle of the trail before a frozen stream. A crude wooden sign leans against it and bears the words in common, Trespassers Turn Back.
Current Map:
Wishbone Creek
A solid sheet of ice extends across this frozen stream, while snow-covered rocks line its banks. The stream is 20 feet wide at this point, but its surface is frozen. You might observe from your position that this appears to be the safest place to cross due to the mountainous wooded terrain surrounding you.
With your perceptions, you don’t observe any creatures of hear anything other than the sound of the chilly snowfall. You can only see 60 ft around you as the snow continues to plague your vision and movement.
_Mordred_
for some reason this snowman scares me more than anything, lol love it
survival track: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 4 = 9
Morde looks around for tracks, "Hmm i don't like this, I feel like this could be another trap, should we try going down river to check for another Ford? if the water is frozen here it might be frozen further down or up the river."
Gavinia Hornsten
Gavinia draws the cold-iron throwing axe and eyes the snowman speculatively. "A trap, an ambush, or maybe some other poor person encased in ice." She pauses a moment. "I shall investigate. Every one prepare for unexpected trouble. I have Resistance and Guidance prepared, which can provide a small boost in protection for a minute."
While the others prepare, she casts Detect Magic and examines the snowman.
Gavinia Hornsten
In a lower voice, Gavinia tells the party. "Magic on the snowman - three auras. Yuki, can you read any more?"
Once Yuki has cast, Gavinia casts two spells on herself - Resistance, then Guidance.
Resistance: +1 to saves for 1 minute. If I need to make a save in the next minute, I'll also use the +1 from Guidance on it. Will wait to see if Yuki can tell the auras before approaching.
Steinolf Stone
“Magic on the snowman? I wonder if it’s like the magic of those blue creatures, or if it is something else. I am no good with magical auras.” Steinolf draws the longsword and stands at the ready to attack if something reveals itself.
_Mordred_
Having enough of the fey folk attacking him Morde moves forward and tries to hide in the bushes before anyone does anything. Not known for his stealth Morde just is looking for cover , muttering "not this time, you two bit little fairies." Morde always carries his axe out because its a greataxe.
please move me to C11
Garrasay
"Grr. The whole magic snowman thing feels like a fairy prank, but the sign written in common doesn't seem right. The fairies we have met so far didn't speak common. Something doesn't add up here."
Garrasay looks a little sheepish, odd considering his canine visage "I don't normally prepare detect magic, I'm not really versed in the theory of arcane magic. I was taught in a much less formal environment directly by my mentor, there were very few books involved and the emphasis was on practical applications so my understanding on how magic actually works is...limited. Hhhhhrrg."
He squints at the snowman and then peers into the forest to see if he can spot any hidden watchers.
perception: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 1 - 4 = 12
Gavinia Hornsten
Gavinia touches her holy symbol and murmurs a quick prayer to Alseta as she uses a blessing on herself. Minor Protection Blessing
"Evocation probably means a trap of some kind. Keep back in case it is."
With her protections up, she tromps forward to the snowman. If nothing happens, she will carefully remove the snowman's head, then the body.
with Resistance, Guidance and Protection blessing, I am at Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +7; with an extra +1 for first save I make. AC is at 21, Touch 12, FF 20. Time to roll some 1s :)
Gavinia Hornsten
Gavinia keeps moving forward as she answers.
"Under whose authority? You are made of snow and clearly not native to this part of the world."
keep approaching. get ready to strike back if it attacks.
Steinolf Stone
“What the.... talking snow men?” Steinolf waits to hear their response about “Under whose authority?” Before continuing. He does however listens to how they speak and tries to sense the intent.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

_Mordred_
I don't know if I can make it moving then attacking the snowman, I will be trying to cut off its head.
If I cant make it ill double move and ignore my attack. (move to F11)
"DIE!, you little fey bastard!" morde yells as he runs forward to attack.

My Fort save would have been 11 (extra 3 from Resistance, Blessing and Guidance) - don't suppose that would have been enough to make it?
Steinolf Stone
Moving up with the Cold Iron Longsword in hand, Steinolf strikes out against the snowman creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Whiff
Garrasay
Seeing Gavinia reeling from the effect of the magic, Garrasay moves as quickly as he can to stand between her and the forest edge. He pulls out his flail and scans the treeline warily.
Move to F14 (darn difficult terrain) and move to draw flail (darn bab 0)
GM Deadly Secret
Garassay moves.
Gavinia drops everything in her hands and is stunned.
A creature rises from the snow next to Gavinia E12 and attacks AC-2/loses Dex to AC 17
From the waist up, this icy creature’s features are humanoid, but below its body is a snake-like, slithering tail.
Yukiharu uses his readied action to hex the creature (yellow) but has no effect.

Another creature rises from the snow on the other side of Gavinia G12, providing a flank AC 17

_Mordred_
With both him and stein trying to hit the creature it quickly moves out of the way of both attacks. "Damn, its fast! its like trying to hit lighting. " Morde says to stein.
Steinolf Stone
You can not 5 ft step in snow, ever.
Sounds good. From the map it looks like it was a pathway so I was just checking to see if it was indeed one, or not. Thanks for the clarity.
Garrasay
Garrasay whirls around to face the new intruders "Rrrrrrwrrg. What are these things? Rrrrrrr."
He plows his way through the snow to get next to both of them and then taking his flail in two hands, proceeds to bash the one to his left.
Flail: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
He slips on the icy surface and his swing goes wild as he scrambles to regain his balance.
Move to F13.
Gavinia Hornsten
Rather than risk picking up the axe, Gavinia draws her new dagger and stabs at the creature to the north.
mW dagger attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
