"I think a trip to the Fusion Queen is in order next, yes. I suggest caution in dealing with these Downside Kings... they have a bad reputation, and there is usually some grain of truth behind such."

You return to your hotel to discuss your plans, and decide to go to the Fusion Queen. As you start to leave, you hear someone asking for you at the front desk.

Cha'Vishtyr stops where he is and opens his link to only those in his group. "Someone is asking for us. Do you think it could be Level 21?" Cha'Vishtyr peers around, waiting for another ambush before giving Dribble a light tap. "Go see what he needs child."

"I am not a child!" Dribble protests before heading to the front desk

"Hi there, I think you where asking for us?"

"I was told that you would be waiting here for me and that I should take you to meet someone."

Jaxy's ears drop in the entrance to Mama Fat's as he relizes that there is only one small middle-aged woman in the place, who also seems completely uninterested in a fight. When Ack then comes in and warns about the 'bad friend making,' his ears plaster against his fur and his eyes go wide. He turns to the woman and says a low "Sowwy!" before leaving with the rest of the group.

As the group moves to the hotel, Jaxy pulls aside Ack. "Um, so that was... bad? What is good? Going slowly? Giving warning?" After a few questions the skittermander, stops talking for a second, twisting his hands together in worry before asking in a small voice, "Can you warn me when I do something bad? This place is really different from the expiment sentar home, and... I don't know what to do..."

Obviously having recovered from the mood earlier, Jaxy bounds up to the new man in the hotel lobby, eyes alight, and cannon cradled in his bottom hands. "Ohhhhh! Are you taking us some where? Where are we going? Who are we meeting? Can I help them stop feeling pain?"

"Oh, yes we were told someone would come. You're someone...you've come...must be for us then!" squeals Kotora as she embraces the newcomer.

Squeezing tight, she looks up towards the creatures face. "Who are we meeting then? Where? Will you show us?"

Over her shoulder, she smiles to her cousin. "This was bestest plan. I'm making all sorts of new friends!."

Cha'Vishtyr instantly regrets urging the Skittermanders onto the stranger but continues to wait for a response on who they are to be meeting.

Dribble huggs Jaxy with her upper pair of arms, Kotora with her lower pair of arms and offers her middle set of arms to the stranger "Of course we will come, who are we meeting? Do you want to hug?"

The messenger, a young halfling man, happily accepts the skittermander hugs. He gives Dribble a cheeky smile, and says, "I was told that you were expecting me and would follow. Are you coming, or not?"

The goblin ponders the questions that Jaxy poses. Understanding that the skittermander simply views things in a rather 'unique' light. 'Pulling wheapons ihz like handshake. Best done after a greeting, and some just don't like it. We call the ones who don't like it grumpy ones.'

Cha'Vishtyr links with the halfling. "We will follow, lead the way." He is curious as the halfling fails to elaborate further. His fingers twitch against his arc rifle, hoping he doesn't have to use it in case this is another ambush.

Holding the man's leg tightly, her big eyes blinking up towards his face, she replies. "Yeah. We go with you. You need take us though. I don't know where your friend is."

"Oh, I'm Kotora. Who are you?"

Jaxy gives a few nods at Ack's words. "Oh, I see! So, introductions first, then, maybe, weapon pulling? But do I need to make sure to... wash my weapons first?"

Wow, Ack that was an amazingly simple way to put it! I wish there was more I could give you than a favorite, but it'll have to do.

Giving a wide grin, Jaxy tries to melt into the hug. hugging people your own height really is the best! I'm so glad there are these short humans around!

He rouses a little when Kotora asks her question, though. Giving her a puzzled look he responds, "I know, you're Kotora, and you should know I'm Jaxy... Did you forget me?"

Allain can't seem to help a little smile at Jaxy's comments to Kotora... the Skitters may be a bit effusive but they are definitely amusing

The halfling smiles at Kotora. "My name is Derek."

Are you guys done talking to Derek? Should we move on to him leading you wherever?

Yup. Cha'Vishtyr told him we would follow.

I agree with moving forward, unless someone else had questions for Derek.

Me three, agree! (Okay it's a horrible rhyme, but I like it...)

Jaxy looks up from the hug with his current three favorite people and one object in the world. Shifting his cannon to another hand he reaches out and tugs on Kotora and Dribbles clothes. "Ummm, Do you think we can hug and walk? I kinda want to meet these new people, maybe even help them?" He finishes this by shifting his cannon up out of the middle of the hug, and raising his eyebrows suggestively.

"We can walk hand in hand, I tend to trip when hugging and walking."

Yep, let's follow Derek

Derek takes you back to the bodega where you stopped earlier in the day. He leads you into a back room, where a Ysoki and several humans are standing. The ysoki is obviously the leader, and Derek introduces him as Jabaxa, the leader of the Level 21 gang. He looks at you inquisitively. He and his followers have weapons clearly easy to pull out, but not in their hands right now. Jabaxa waves Derek away and looks at you, clearly waiting to see what you have to say.

"Oh! We were here earlier Derek." spouts Kotora, pleased with herself. "Oh, but not in this room." she adds as they head into the back.

Scanning the room quickly, Kotora's eyes fall on the ysoki. A smile spreads across her face like a rash and her arms begin to tremble. "Oh, hell with it!" she exclaims, charging forward. Throwing her arms around the leader, she hugs him tight.

"Hi! I'm Kotora. I think your gang shot at us on accident earlier. It's ok though. Just...don't do it again, ok?"

Cha'Vistyr grimaces as the Skittermander rushes at Jabaxa, half expecting it to get shot on sight. "It is as the little one says." Cha'Vishtyr relays mentally. "We were caught up in a firefight between your people and the Downside Kings. A Starfinder was struck and killed. We have been sent to investigate whether he was a target or accidental death."

Jaxy gives an exclamation of surprise when the group is shown to the back room. "Wow! I didn't know this was here! And with so many people!"

With a manic gleefulness, Jaxy pulls out the last of his much-maligned cards and starts introducing himself to everyone in the room, giving them a card, explaining how Pharasma herself has talked to him, and then making sure to give everyone a hand shake. Partway through he looks up at Dribble. "Wait, you never did show me that prayer you used last time!"

When he finishes, he realizes what topic the conversation has switched to, and giving Ack a nod, pulls out all of his weapons. With a big innocent smile on his face, he happily comments, "That's right there were some people interested in my gift, and leaving this 'pain 'n' safeerin' behind! Are they here? And they haven't changed their minds yet have they?"

The ysoki gangster looks you all over, and motions to comfortable looking seats. He also notices Ack, and reaches a small cannister of crackers, labelled 'Goblin Emergency Rations.' They are simple, but they are fresh and tasty. "We did not intend for you to be there. We were hired to protect the Hardscrabble Collective, and the Downside Kings were harassing them. We tried to avoid damage to others, but sometimes it's not possible. I do appreciate the way you tried to avoid hurting my boys. They told me about what happened."

poke, poke, poke...

The goblin goes over to Jaxy and after putting a gantle hand on his shoulder explains, i believe they're gonna take us to make more friends; i think these ones are grumpy ones. When the ysoki makes his way over with the crackers Ack instinctively starts to munch on them.

Jaxy gets a confused look on his face when the captain starts talking about 'protecting the Hardscrabble Collective.' "Wait, does that mean you didn't want to die and leave this 'pain'n'safeering behind'? aaahhhh...... I'm sorry if I shot at anybody then..."

When Ack comes over and tells Jaxy about them being 'grumpy ones' the skittermander's spirits drop even further for a second, befores something dawns on him. "Wait, they don't like the idea of dying, do they? Is that why they are grumpy?"

I was kind of hanging back a bit as I am GM'ing this and well into Book 2. Letting others make some of the decisions and trying not to drive the direction.

"Why would the Hardscrabble Collective need protecting? Why would they seek out a local gang?" Cha'Vishtyr asks, realizing more than likely the man had little answer and was in it for the credits to begin with. Though that caused more questions to form in his mind.

Stepping back from the ysoki Kotora looks him over, her face scrunching up as she things hard about the mans words. A faint wiff of smoke may reach your senses...

After a moment, she replies "Aren't those the ones that discovered the floating rock? The miners, right?"

Pausing, she scratches her head with the upper two right hands, glancing towards Cha. "So you were fighting the other gang because they are protecting Astral Extraction's interest then? Yes?"

Without waiting for an answer, she turns away from the ysoki to look to Dribble directly. "Cousin, mayhaps we could arrange a sit down between these two groups, yeah? I mean...maybe we could get them to be friends if we could...I don't know...mediate their differences?"

The small skittermander promptly flops down in a cushy chair, all this thinking wearing her out. Glancing towards the leader with a smile, she adds "Oh, and you're welcome."

"If you can arrange a meeting, then yes, we will do our part. I do not like the Downside Kings, but my boys' lives are worth more than my desire to hurt them."

Cha'Vishtyr looks worried. "Perhaps we should speak with these Downside Kings first before setting up a meeting. they may not be as amendable." He relays to his companions.

Jaxy sidles over to Ack, before whispering in his ear, "I really don't get what he's saying, wanting to hurt people? That's Bad, isn't it?" After a moment of frying his brain cells over why the captain is saying what he is saying, Jaxy jsut decides to give up on that.

With a shrug and a quick smile, Jaxy pipes up, "So meeting? To stop you from doing the Bad Thing of Hurting each other? Where should have the meeting? Any days good for you? How about tomorrow?"

He then gets Cha's mental message, before responging out loud. "But why would they? It'd hurt less if they came to the meeting..."

The Ysoki smiles at the Skittermanders (they seem to melt all but the most hardened villains, don't they?) and then says, "It's not us and the Kings you need to get to come to a meeting, it's those who hired them and us. Until their issues are solved, ours can't be."

"Oh? So we just needin to get those wanting the Rock to stop paying you ta hurt each other? Where would we find them peoples? Could you set up a meeting fer us and thems?" asks Kotora.

"Or does we just need to find someone else ter pay you two groups more to stop fighting?"

"So you got hired by the Collective because that Astral firm hired the Downside Kings?"

Dribble scratches her head with a few of her hands "Can you tell us something about the Collective? Why do you like working for them?"

"They pay good money, they keep their word, and they're hardworking normal people."

"That sounds like good reasons to work for them. I assume that it is your opinion that those things can't all be said about Astral Extractions?"

Jaxy spends a long moment thinking about the situation be fore adding, "So we need to get this 'cowectibe' and 'Ast...trel Ex... Ex... Ex-something' to the meeting, too? That sounds easy! Where are they? Do they live near here?"

Jaxy smiles as Jabaxa describes the 'cowectibe.' "If I wasn't working for the Starfinders, I might work for them. They sound nice!"

"Astral Extractions is your usual big corporation and cares only for their bottom line. Even their own employees are completely expendable."

"Sounds like they were also hiring expendable thugs." Cha'Vishtyr muses. "We can try but they may not listen to us."

"That's not fun." remarks Kotora. "Aside from contacting the other gang, any suggestions on setting this up?"

The ysoki shakes his head and politely escorts you to the door.

Cha'Vishtyr is just as confused. if not more than when the Skittermanders started the conversation. "Where are we going then?"

We need to find Astral leader. Maybe we can find someone as Fusion Queen that knows how to contact Astral?

"Yes, Ack is right, we need to get three more people to the meeting tomorrow! Astrel Something-or-Others, the Downside Kwings, and the Cowetibe. If we go to the Fu- Fu- Fusha Queen we might be able to get two of them at once!"

Since a few things got lost in the conversation, plus the slow posting for a while there, I want to make it clear to you guys that in order to arrange a meeting, you don't need to talk to the Downside Kings, they were just hired muscle. You only need to get Astral Extractions and the Hardscrabble Collective to agree to talk.

my mind made the leap that downside would have a way to contact astral.

When you guys talked to the receptionist, she told you that Astral Extractions is a large mining corporation. It should be a matter of consulting public records to find them, if you wish to contact them.
