Hi guys.
My Dad was rushed into hospital a little over a week ago (just after my last round of posts!) when his aortic aneurism ruptured. Thankfully with some luck and the really quite excellent people at the NHS his operation went really well, and he's now back home (sporting a scar down the whole of his stomach, with just a little detour round the belly button - they really weren't messing about when they opened him up this time!). Being the only one of his six children who lives anywhere near, I get to volunteer for all the trips up to the hospital and stuff, so I've not really had any time to get on-line.
Hopefully I'll be able to get back to a better posting routine now, but it may still be a little spotty, as I'm sort of on call to rush up and help out at a moment's notice, so if everyone could bear with me that'd be great!

Ugh!! I'll have to re-read that. I thought INT governed spells you could know (hence a higher INT) and CHR was just for the casting power. *sigh*
Although throughout her career, I only envision a couple levels as a sorc, it still plays a part. I see her as a latent caster with the stress of the events bringing it to the fore (hence her 'trying to remember' spells while in the pod.. the headaches..etc. Think of it as a caster coming into their power quite unprepared.. but she'll always be a rogue at heart (hence minimal casting levels). At least.. that's the concept of the character.
Yup.. CHR for sorc spell learnin'.. No worries though as I don't see her getting more than 2 or 3 levels as such throughout her career. Thanks for the correction Aero :)

Things we have on our side: If she wanted to kill us, would have done it already! We may have drained some her spells or negative channels (for today) to force her to heal (if she hadn't used them already). Do have a raise dead scroll (I believe from the loot... I don't think ghouls are res weak like wraiths?)

I'm guessing (hoping?) that the Mother Thrunefang encounter is one of the rougher portions of the AP? Or.. we just did it wrong.. (once we freed Yipper and she cast darkness.. just walk outside the range and sip on CLW potions until she wants to fight?)

IMHO the whole thing's pretty darned rough. I chose to go with Mother Thrunefang's tactics as exactly listed in the book when you guys met her and yes, it's particularly nasty without a dwarf or half-orc on the team to bring darkvision to the party. Also not having a PC Cleric hurt there a lot too...
... That said, she is one of the 'highlights' of the book - you're due to level after fighting her... before you hit the really nasty stuff...
There's the whole 'no shops' thing, which doesn't do anyone any favours (I'm sure Aerodus would have liked some new armour, for example...). Plus the AP's love of 'conditions' - poison, disease, paralysis... you name it, we've got it! Oh, and all those environmental penalties... and drowning... Yeah, I'd rate it pretty tough all round...

Yah, this AP is rough! But then, that's part of what makes it enjoyable. Not sure if there's anything we could have done differently other than heal up first before exploring the cave.. but Yipper needed our help.
