The Babbler in the Stairwell
krar slashes with his sword before leaping away while lashing out with his foot.
The sword blade bounces harmlessly off The Babbler's rubbery hide, but as Krar dances away, and the mouther lashes out with a pseudopod ending in a gnashing mouth....1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 1d4 ⇒ 2 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17....that snaps on empty air, Krar's foot swings around and connects with the pseudopod with a loud crack!

After Mephos, Grimm, and Radsworth:
Gaining a moment of lucidity in the madness, DLH turns his AR-15 on The Babbler....
AR-15 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 dealing 4 piercing and bludgeoning to TBitS!
Take summa that, ya big, fat blob with eyes 'n mouths.... One o' your kind killed ol' Jeb, mother-f~er!
Derrik Stonesmith
Dawnbringer splits the evil ID's hide again, invisibility notwithstanding the young paladin's evil-seeking eyes and righteous fury! It broadcasts a psychic scream of agony and outrage!
Telepathically:
YEEEEEOOOOWWWWWCH!!! Vat bloody fookin' 'urts, ye shiny tin lobster-bastard!!
Derrik grins under his helmet the reverberation from the Dawnbringer having connected with creatures body and its Psychic wails affirming his target was wounded.
" And there is much more where that came from! How does it feel the be the weak one spawn of evil?! To be the coward that must hide from one you can do NOTHING against! Now you feel what your victims do and it terrifies you! You are afraid to fight back "
Dr. Hugo Grimm
I only have five of these left. Grimm states as he launches another fire bomb precisely at the babbler.
precise bomb attack on babbler: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
damage: 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 6, 1) + 4 = 14
Rad's giant ant buddy
On Radsworth's turn:
A second giant soldier ant marches out of the mists of time up the stairs, flanking The Babbler with the first giant ant on the stairwell....
Bite 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21, sting 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 plus poison Fort DC 14.... The bite misses, but the sting lands for 5 piercing plus poison....
Bite 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16, sting 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 plus poison Fort DC 14.... The bite misses, but the sting lands for 4 piercing plus poison....
The Babbler in the Stairwell
As another firebomb bursts on its already blistered flesh, The Babbler shrieks in agony and desperately seeks in vain an escape route, but pinned as it is between the two giant ants, The Babbler is forced to make a stand.... It turns its gnashing mouths on the second giant ant that now blocks its retreat back upstairs....
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 1d4 ⇒ 1 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 misses....
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 1d4 ⇒ 2 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 misses....
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 1d4 ⇒ 2 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 misses....
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 1d4 ⇒ 4 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 deals 4 damage....
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 1d4 ⇒ 1 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 deals 1 damage....
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 1d4 ⇒ 2 plus grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 misses....
A total of 5 bite damage and no successful grabs on the giant ant upstairs....
And a squirt of acidic saliva for good measure....1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Fort DC 18 or blinded 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds....lands square in the ant's multifaceted eyes!
Kate Peace
Kate draws her revolver again and fires at The Babbler, at -4 for firing into melee (Rad's ant buddies)....1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 1d8 ⇒ 6 piercing and bludgeoning....but she can't get a clear shot without risking hitting one of the giant ants, so her shot ricochets off the stone steps without harming anyone....

Gaining a moment of lucidity in the madness, DLH turns his AR-15 on The Babbler....

Correction: DLH now has gun training I (rifle), so he adds his Dex modifier to damage dealt with rifles, meaning he actually dealt 10 piercing and bludgeoning damage to The Babbler.... Which means The Babbler is now at negative 5 hp, and has collapsed in a motionless heap on the stairs!
Derrik Stonesmith
Derrik swings his axe at the area again intending the make the creature gone with its friend the Babbler.
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 13
Two handed Smiting Dawnbringer: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 222d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 2) + 9 = 13
His holy might would not be deterred by simple unseeable veil!

[dice=Two handed Smiting Dawnbringer]1d20+10; 2d6+9His holy might would not be deterred by simple unseeable veil!
Again, in spite of its illusory veil of invisibility, Dawnbringer finds its mark in the evil monster's flesh! A psychic squeal of pain confirms the blow....
Rad's giant ant buddy
On Radsworth's initiative (and unless he commands them to do otherwise), the two giant ants scurry from the stairwell around the corner, through the doorway into the chamber where an enlarged Derrik, and a confused Koran, stand before the alcove in the south wall, wherein the invisible Intellect Devourer hides....
The giant ants' feelers twitch excitedly, and their heads bob as they seem to be sniffing out the location of the invisible aberration....
Both make move actions into the north chamber and stop behind Derrik, barring any possible escape attempts the ID might attempt!
Dwayne Lee Hooker DM substitute
After Krar, Mephos, Grimm, Radsworth, and the giant ants:
Dwayne Lee, fearing his bullets useless against the invisible ID, decides to make certain The Babbler is dead, and that no other monster is on its way down the stairwell....
Moving to the stairs, he fires another round into the motionless gibbering mouther, while peering anxiously up and down the spiral stairway....
Stairs appear to be clear....for now....
Swift action: spits a wad of tobacco juice on the corpse of The Babbler....
Under his breathe: That was for Jeb, mother-f%~%er....
Kate Peace
After Krar, Mephos, Grimm, Rad, the ants, and DLH:
Okay! Now that I'm not under friendly fire from Elmer Fudd anymore.... Watch this shit!
Kate steps into the north chamber and casts invisibility purge, stripping away the ID's illusory veil and leaving the pathetic monster naked to human sight!
Peek-a-boo, b!#!$! Ha! Kate grins triumphantly at Dr Grimm, blue eyes sparkling with vengeful glee....

As it has mostly been healing itself, its not yet dead.... But well below half its normal maximum hp at this point....
Intellect Devourer
The terrible pain!.... So that's what it feels like to have yer entire body smashed beneath a giant bloody meat-tenderizer!.... Must try to focus..... Must try to think of what to do....through the terrible, terrible pain....
The ID casts defensively....concentration check 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29 vs DC 17....to reduce itself in size, shrinking down to the size of a rat....
Now sizeTiny, it can pass through the squares of Medium or larger creatures without provoking AoOs, and it scurries out of the alcove, down a stair-like crevasse in the stone wall, and darts underfoot past Derrik, Koran, et al, through the doorway into the chamber where the rest of The Fierce Ones are assembled, and over to the threshold of the archway leading back into the entry hallway.
Derrik Stonesmith
Still provokes.. but its AC is higher while smaller and it CAN go through our squares.. Unless I missed something
Very Small Creature
A Fine, Diminutive, or Tiny creature can move into or through an occupied square. The creature provokes attacks of opportunity when doing so.
Square Occupied by Creature Three Sizes Larger or Smaller
Any creature can move through a square occupied by a creature three size categories larger than itself.
A big creature can move through a square occupied by a creature three size categories smaller than it is. Creatures moving through squares occupied by other creatures provoke attacks of opportunity from those creatures.

On reviewing the rules, of course, the Ruladin stands correct, as always....
The ID has no room to flee, so reconsidering his turn....
Intellect Devourer
Reeling from the total-body pain inflicted on him by Koran's mighty hammer (even considering DR), the ID opts to burn its final cure moderate wounds for the day (ever), casting defensively....
Concentration check 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 vs DC 19....fails! The pain and anxiety is too great! The ID cannot manage to gather the wits to heal itself again without drawing attacks of opportunity through the haze of pain....
Telepathically:
NOOOO!!! I can't die!!! I beg you!!! Please, don't 'urt me anymore!!! I'll.... I'll tell ye where vere's treasure!!! Lots 'n lots of treasure!!! MAGICAL treasure!!! Just don't 'urt me no more wif 'at axe an' 'at 'ammer!!! I promise I'll be good!!! I promise!!!

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Derrik Hefts his Axe upward and holds in place as the creature begs for its life. He speaks,
" See how you cower! How you beg for your life.. every victim that could not defend themselves from your power, this is what they felt. You think because you ask for forgiveness NOW.. after you have threatened even our women with evisceration and unknown tortures while snatching bodies? No, you would simply placate us until we were far out of your sight and report to your superior. No.. Today you die for every PERSON you have devoured! "
Derrik will wait one moment for the creature to respond before he strikes
" If you were so repentant, you would not have showed so vibrantly red in my eyes before... HOW do you plan on becoming.. GOOD? "
Readied Two Handed Strike: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 172d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 1) + 9 = 11
Basically Derrik is only giving him a small reprieve.. if it tries ANYTHING but talking or one of his allies strike it.. OR it answers this question wrong.. he shall shall strike
Intellect Devourer

[dice=power attack]1d20+13[dice=damage]3d6+19
"The Hammer" lives up to his nickname, and again pounds the Intellect Devourer flat, for 26 bludgeoning damage after DR! The ID broadcasts a pitiful wail of agony!
Telepathically:
AAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOUUUUUCH!!!! *SOB*
Kate Peace
He's as evil as poo stinks, boys.... We can find the cache ourselves without this nasty little parasite.... I say, for all the poor souls whose asses this nasty little bug has crawled up and f$~~ed their heads up, send this putrid turd on chicken legs straight to Hell where it belongs!
Kate glares at the ID, her blue eyes piercingly unmerciful....

Yep. I agree with Miss Katie and Dr Grimm. Ain't no good'll come of lettin' this piece of shit breathe another breath.... I wonder if the AR'll work a bit better at this range....
