Everyone take your turns, BoL can't heal Nikolai unless he has a trick to reverse the negative energy affinity.

Everyone take your turns, BoL can't heal Nikolai unless he has a trick to reverse the negative energy affinity.
Given that he is dead does negative energy affinity continue to apply? I honestly have no idea, I have never seen it come up before.
Sierra Heartward
|
I'm basing it on the face that BoL says it acts the same as cure spells do against undead. I haven't found a clarification yet.
Nikolai Tesla

I have a Pallid Crystal, and am a worshipper of Urgathoa, so positive energy can heal me :-)
That particular stumbling block is something I solved a *long* time ago ;-)
Sierra Heartward

I wondered if that’s what it was.
Also, I believe we are obligated to fight to the death after the scenario is over. ;)
Bellum Race

Hurray, back in action!
Nikolai, let me know if you want to use shadow corruption to split that lethal damage with me. I'll wait to take my action until you decide.
Whoops, misread the summary post. Carrying on!
Vargo Starling

I hate to do this, but with all the site downtime delaying this game I don't feel confident this game is going to finish in time for me to play this character at the Con I am going to in October explicitly to play Vargo.
I have spoken to Redelia about it, she said we are early enough that I can withdraw without taking the chronicle and allow you to recruit a replacement for full credit and I would rather do that now than when we are further in and it would put you in a further lurch.

I can't speak for the rest of the table, but I'd always be willing to table with ya, Tony. :-)
*squints*
*clicks Kulik's link*
*reads through every alias looking for a recognized name*
*finally finds one*
Oh! Hi, Chris!
This is the character I would be bringing if selected.
Jin-Goro Gallonica
|
Fine with me provided you are happy to play on hard mode.
Aderyn Glyndwr
|
I don't object to hard mode, but I have no frame of reference to know whether the character is up to it. It depends a bit on the party makeup -- how are we set for healing, are there any bards or other "buffers" throwing additional defenses on me, who else is front line to absorb hits and deal damage, that sort of thing.
If someone wants to look over the character and let me know if you think it would be a good addition, I'm thick-skinned enough to be told "no". ;-)
How soon will you be at a point to swap the other character out and a new one in? I haven't read the gameplay thread yet, in case I don't end up joining I won't spoil anything for myself.
Sierra Heartward
|
You would effectively be our front line, unless the sorcerer can possess an enemy meatshield. We're rolling three oracles deep of varying specializations. We have a large number of buffs running at the moment and the spell slots to refresh them as needed. I suspect we can transfer the buffs our previous character had to you.
Jin-Goro Gallonica
|
We are indeed buff tastic with a significant amout of magical support and control. We can certainly layer buffs on you but you probably want to bring plenty of your own. I am generally happy to hang out near the front to take attacks but you would be our only actual character as I generally dont make attacks.
While I dont normally do it once we drop some of these enemies I may well start animating them.
Sierra Heartward

I can see I'll need to retrain Fateful Channel after this. :)
Bellum Race
|
I think you'll be great.
Aderyn Glyndwr
|
OK, just made some spell adjustments and checked my ITS. I have prestige for a Raise and cash for a Rez if it comes to it. I'll read the game thread and ninja-dot in, then wait to be subbed in. ;-)
| GM Chie |
Consider yourself subbed in, and... Let's put you in the Block of Initiative with everyone else!
Aderyn Glyndwr
|
Ack! Ok ... do I get the benefit of any buffs that got cast on the party ahead of time? Are we assuming I was just there all along?
---------------
For party knowledge:
Aderyn is an elf with aquatic heritage; a blue tinge to his skin and hair sets him slightly apart from other elves. He wears extravagant looking "merchant marine captain" clothing over a mithral shirt; anyone who inspects him for magic realizes he is using Sleeves of Many Garments. He wears a Pirate's Eye Patch and a Goz Mask to accent the pirate theme.
He carries a net and trident. Both have the "called" feature so he can get them back after throwing or dropping them. He also has feats that allows him to use the net as a reach melee weapon and to use it without having to fold it between uses. In combat he typically uses his arcane pool to add Shock, Frost, and Flaming to the trident, unless we are aware of an energy resistance, in which case he subs out different bonuses.
He has a Monstrification Staff that he uses to cast Enlarge Person if he has advance warning of a combat within 10 minutes.
He doesn't tend to cast offensive spells much, instead using his spell combat to gradually buff himself over the course of a combat. He can't fail the concentration check for casting up to 4th level spells defensively.
He has the Wand Wielder arcana, allowing him to use wands and staves as part of spell combat. He has a ridiculous number of wands, most of them in his haversack so he can easily grab the one he wants. He will often simply drop a wand after using it, relying on his familiar to retrieve and store them.
He does keep a wand of True Strike in one spring loaded wrist sheath and a wand of Dimension Door in another in case of emergency.
He has a level of unchained rogue, so he appreciates a flanking partner. That also gives him trapfinding; his familiar has the Pilferer archetype and is also highly skilled at Disable Device; Aderyn will sometimes cast Aram Zey's Focus on the familiar using Share Spells so that the familiar can disarm magical traps.
He has the Disruptive feat, so spellcasters in his threat area have a penalty to cast defensively.
His standard long term spells are -
Daily cast:
Mage Armor on familiar (extended via rod) [26 hours]
Merge with familiar (extended via rod) [26 hours]
Overland Flight [13 hours]
False Life [13 hours]
Finally, he gives someone his scroll of Breath of Life, in case it becomes necessary.
I think that covers the main points. :-)
-----------
False Life: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

We had a lengthy trip to this spot so very short duration stuff expired before we arrived.
Aderyn Glyndwr

*nod* I saw the 3 hour notice. I've marked my dailies accordingly. I wasn't sure if other party buffs that might be up at the moment would count, like the Heroes' Feast.
Jin-Goro Gallonica

I would assume you could have taken part in the feast?
Aderyn Glyndwr

Depends on how Chie is planning to retcon me in.

Just making sure ... I'm not seeing any site outages, but posts on most of my games have been somewhat sporadic.

We seem to have stalled a bit, is everything OK?
Aderyn Glyndwr

Have we lost our GM?
Sierra Heartward

It looked like he was attending a convention this weekend. (Which I should also mention I will be attending SkalCon from Friday to Sunday, but I should still be able to check in.)
| GM Chie |
I am back! Sudden, inconsistent access to Internet + a convention over the weekend caused a lot more trouble that I anticipated.
Any full party buffs that you cast (Such as Heroes Feast) That were obtained by the group, you should have.
Put yourself on the Left Edge of the map, and begin from there!
Aderyn Glyndwr
|
Whee!
I saw Heroes' Feast, did anyone else cast any full party buffs that I would have benefited from?
Aderyn Glyndwr
|
I'm guessing Chie lost internet again? :-(
| GM Chie |
Nope, I apparently left that post Un-submitted on my Computer yesterday morning.
I was curious about why nobody else was posting ;;;
Jin-Goro Gallonica

For Aderyn, looking back you should also benefit from Life Bubble. If you want them you can also have Delay Poison and +4 Magic Vestment on your armour.
Aderyn Glyndwr
|
Awesome, thanks! I'll note those down.
Bellum Race

Sierra, I hope I'm not coming off as pushy or contrary about the plane shift. I honestly don't care if we kill this thing the old fashioned way, but I think its funny.
Sierra Heartward
|
Nah, she's just gotten a little arrogant in her job of keeping everyone alive for 15 levels.
Nikolai Tesla

I am perfectly fine with the thing being Plane Shifted. I actually find it hilarious. Go for it!
Jin-Goro Gallonica

If we can beat it to death with weapons I would rather avoid wasting the 5th level spell slot.

Hey Guys! I didn't forget about you guys over the weekend!
The first of the Month is a little rough in my industry, so I'll have a post up after work!
(For the record, the third is as well, so I will try and have a post Very Early Wednesday Morning as well!)

Kulik, I have to ask ... who is/was "Jeff" that your natural ones are named for him? :)
Sierra Heartward
|
Hey, I got a d20 with Natural Jeff on it at SkalCon!
Kulik
|
Yes, in fact, you did, Sierra. :-)
At that same Skal Con, my nat Jeff d20 betrayed me twice.
Time 1
Time 2
Jeff is a good friend of mine whose home group started the natural 1 "Jeff" phenomenon, and our group of yahoos picked it up. And we got dice custom made, and we give them out. :-)
So by all means, spread the "natural Jeff" lore far and wide!

So glad someone has played
It was one of my first scenarios on my -01 and I've been Team Muhlia ever since.
