Questions re: AbadarCorp Augmentations boon

My question for the community, and for the SFS dev team if they happen up this thread, is in regard to the AbadarCorp Augmentation boon from scenario 1-10 The Half-Alive Streets, the text for which is quoted below.

AbadarCorp Augmentations:
AbadarCorp Augmentations (Social Boon; Limited Use) wrote:
AbadorCorp has made you a special offer after you helped maintain the stability of their Freemarkets by keeping illegal augmentations off the streets. At the end of a scenario where you have this boon slotted, you can purchase one or more augmentations from the Starfinder Core Rulebook and receive a one-time 20% discount. If the item level of the augmentation is 8 or more, then you receive only a 10% discount on that augmentation. For each augmentation you purchase in this manner, check one of the boxes on this boon. Once you checked all three boxes, you can no longer receive this discount on future purchases.

The questions I have relate specifically to how this boon might interact with the purchase of personal upgrade augmentations.

Q1) Can I apply the AbadarCorp Augmentations boon to the upgrade cost of a personal upgrade of 5100cr, so that improving a Mk. 1 upgrade to a Mk. 2 would only cost me 4080 (5100*0.8=4080)?

Q2) Am I correctly reading the AbadarCorp Augmentations boon to suggest that I could check multiple boxes to buy more than one augmentation after slotting the boon in a given scenario? And if so, does that mean I can improve my existing Mk. 1 PU to a Mk. 2 for 4080cr, then also buy a new Mk. 1 for 1120cr (1600*0.8=1120)?

Right, so...

Mk 1 PU costs 1,400. With a 20% discount that comes out to 1,120.
Mk 2 PU costs 6,500. With a 20% discount that comes out to 5,200.
Mk 3 PU costs 75,000. With a 10% discount that comes out to 67,500.

When you use that boon you get 20% off of the base cost. If you are upgrading from mk 1 to a discounted mk 2, your cost will be 3,800 (5,200 - 1,400). If you buy a discounted mk 1 and upgrade to a discounted mk 2 your cost is 4080 (5,200 - 1,120).

HOWEVER...

If you upgrade the discounted mk 2 to a mk 3 you pay the difference in cost from what you paid for the mk 2 to what you would pay for the mk 3.
69,800 (75,000 - 5,200)

When upgrading you pay the difference in costs that you pay(ed). The discounts apply to the base costs of the item, not the difference in costs.

The thing about that boon is because of phrasing it also requires planning ahead, since you have to slot it the scenario before you plan on buying your PU.

Okay, I hadn't considered it as taking the discount off the base price, but that actually makes more sense to me.

RA, you're totally right, using the boon does require some planning. Thankfully, I just finished a scenario with this plan specifically in mind, so I had the foresight to slot the boon!

Thanks for your input, folks!

Okay, bit of a necro, but we just got this boon last night in our home game.

Is this the accepted logic on how using this boon on Personal Upgrades works? That the 'discount' essentially becomes an 'advance' that you need to pay back if you ever 'boost' that Personal Upgrade? I gotta say, this is rubbing me the wrong way (like most of the Starfinder economy)...

...

You can boost an existing personal upgrade by paying the difference in price between the current model and the next higher model. For example, if you have a mk 1 synaptic accelerator granting you +2 points of Strength, you could increase that to a mk 2 synaptic accelerator granting you a total +4 points of Strength by paying 5,100 credits (the difference in price between the mk 1 and mk 2 models).

In my home game, I don't take the discount into account when pricing a boost to that personal upgrade.

Buy a mk 1 upgrade: 1,400 cr.
Buy a mk 1 upgrade with an AbadarCorp coupon: 1,120 cr.
Later you want to boost that upgrade to mk 2?: 5,100 cr (6,500 - 1,400), whether or not you used a coupon earlier.

The personal upgrade doesn't "remember" you had a coupon!
