"We've also got one more secret door to check in the throne room."

![]() |

Eladrian speaks up. "Actually, there are two doors back there, and I agree. I hate leaving unexplored areas behind me, but it does seem that we have been moving in kind of a circle. We could end up clearing everything out just by moving forward."

Torrag will take a peak in the cooridor, but not enter.
"We should check and make sure our friendly neighborhood trapmaker, Mr. Addington, didn't leave us anything."

Eladrian moves into the room, and decides randomly which door to approach and check for traps.

He approaches the left door and looks it over.

"Careful! I found a trap. Everyone watch out for this." Eladrian calls as he carefully marks out the perimeter of the trap for everyone to see. He then goes to the door on the left and opens it.

![]() |

"Well done."
After Eladrian points out the trap, Torrag floats over behind him.
With the fly spell on, you can assume Torrag is floating about 6 inches off the ground unless stated otherwise.

"Looks like there's only one door for us to go through down here."

![]() |

I'm assuming you guys go for the door I've placed you in front of on the map?
The doors leading into this room are ajar, held open by jagged chunks of masonry placed as doorstops.
This large room has a wide hole in the center of its floor. A heavy, welded steel ladder descends straight down from the lip of this shaft. The extent and depth of the space below are concealed behind the many crisscrossing, whitish-gray spider webs filling the pit.
Many interwoven webs cross the upper room, making it difficult terrain. The steel ladder is set securely into the floor and ceiling but can’t be used until the webs have been cleared away.

Sjonegaard hurls a javelin into some webs (doesn't hit AC) before taking a step forward and drawing his earth breaker
You technically don't know this, but just in case someone would move into one of the webs..it's easier to know this before hand: Anyone who enters a square of moon spider web must succeed at a Reflex save (DC 13) or become entangled
Tenerek then steps up after Sjonegaard and studies one of the spiders before firing an arrow through the doorway hitting one of it's legs
(I'll assume the green one for now)

Extra damage: 4d6 + 16 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 3) + 16 = 28
Hardly slowed down by the sticky strands clinging to his body Sjonegaard swings his massive hammer in a wide arc, hitting the spider right in all of it's 8 eyes..it's skull explodes into a gory mass as the spider drops to the floor..dead
Tenerek quickly fires 2 arrows in rapid succession at the remaining spider but only 1 arrow sinks into the spiders flesh which turns out to be enough to make the spider drop down from the webs it was clinging too and fall to the floor as well

Nothing inside this room (other then what you brought with you) detects as magical
The webs in this room are extremely sticky and you will get caught inside them from time to time as you move through the room (but since there's no danger/hurry) you can make it through the room if you take your time.
Or you can take some time to hack through the webs with a sharp weapon and clear the room of webs
If you examine the room you find nothing, other then a ladder inside the shaft which fills the middle of this room.
(which leads further down the Emerald Spire)

Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Eladrian stumbles as he is released from the webs, feeling weak and faint. He turns to Tenerek "Thank you. I don't think I would have looked the greatest hanging from these webs as an empty wineskin.. "

With some effort and liberal use of some swords to cut your way through/past the sticky spiderwebs all through the room and still getting stuck from time to time you manage to make it to the door Tenere wants to examine.
You quickly find out it's unlock and in fact it's not even closed. There's a small gap with a stone wedged between the door and the frame to keep it open. Not finding any traps Tenerek opens the door with confidence and behind it you see;
Another L-shaped corridor, with doors at 3 points.
Massive black iron gates bar the corridor, fashioned out of twisted, angular vertical bars that have sharp edges and are about a handspan apart, linked by welded crossbars. The gates have massive hinges set deep into the walls, and a heavy lock inside a welded box secures sliding bars that run into sockets in the floor and ceiling at the center of the corridor. Moreover, a black iron chain with links as thick as a human thumb wraps around the gates where they meet above and below the lockbox. The chain’s ends disappear into holes in the lockbox.

"Well if we can't go this way, let's start with the secret room and work our way back around."

![]() |

ok.. my bad. I forgot that we used that key already. Eladrian moves forward to the door at the end of the L shaped hall and checks it for traps. Taking 20 for 31

![]() |

Just because you used a key on a door already doesn't mean you can't use it on other doors btw ;)
Moving through some rooms to go around the bars that seal off part of the corridor you enter the same corridor through another door when Eladrian spots what looks like a pit trap right in front of the door.
He also has a sneaky suspicion that there's something not quite safe about the bars, they might be trapped as well.

![]() |

"Should we go around and approach this room from it's other door, that side may not be trapped? Or do we have a way to trigget the pit trap.. say by stomping on it with one foot?"

![]() |

Eladrian shakes his head "The way things have gone for me this time around, I think coming from the other side would be best."

![]() |

"If it's trapped, I say we enter the room from the other side. It seems Mr. Addington designed this place to be accessible as long as you know which way is safe."
