[ooc]In 2 rounds he's taken 145 damage from a sorcerer wielding a sword! Rawr!
The funny thing is that none of the damage came from being a sorcerer. In fact, some of the damage came from another sorcerer helping you with haste. :P
"Cease your prattling you ridiculous old fool," Ralph calls out from the safety of his flight and invisibility. "You will recall that it was you who threw the first punch."
No offence to Balik's player. Ralph's character is modeled after a certain arch-mage who talks this way.
"We are at our objective. Let us find those damned books and be done with this place before more "friends" arrive. And just so we're clear, the next people claiming to be harmless and friendly but are detected as evil by the paladins will be fireballed on sight."
Amsheagar |
LOL, yeah, the old man got his can handed to him.
How do you want to proceed. You are standing at the front door of this house. Do you want to adventure in right away?

Alden will take a long look around for dangers, then if he sees no traps, he'll open the front door.

Amsheagar |
There are no traps that either of you find. When you open the door, you see two people... standing to your right. A female and a Male.
The female looks at you "Greetings, did you get the big nasty outside? It had us trapped in here for days. My name is Embla, He's Rovald."
Sorry, I got ahead of myself.
...who are ransacking the room. As Alden opens the door, it startles them. "Oh, who are you? Better question, how did you defeat that big nasty outside."
Lavode's Bralani flys around the house, looking in each window. It sees two people in the first room (windows window seat room) and the other rooms appear to be empty. Lavode, from now on, your summoned creature goes on your turn and in your text box. It keeps it less confusing that way.
Exiel |
"Greetings, Embla and Rovald. How did you come to be here in the first place, might I ask?"
Exiel smiles as he uses his detect evil spell-like ability on each of them.
He also uses his eyes to cast detect weapons and armor and obvious magical items on them.

You don't think that they are telling the truth. In-fact, you know that they are lying about being burgles.
You see 2 weapons on Rovald and one weapon on Embla.
You sense 3 magical auras on both of them.
The one standing in the back.. is evil.
Exiel |
Exiel looks at the pair of them incredulously. He's no whiz at detecting falsehood, but the last two 'people' he'd encountered in the World Wound that were not in his group had turned out to be demonic creatures. Common-sense dictated that no one came this far into the World Wound for petty reasons, and recent experiences only confirmed it.
"Burgles? Coming all the way into the World Wound? You risk getting killed by demons and having your souls stolen to be eaten by them just to see what might have been left behind in the ruins of a small town? How simple do you think I am?"
"You there in the back, keep your hands where I can see them and step forward slowly."
What weapons and armor are they carrying/wearing?

Balik Ulfenssen |
Balik grumbles at the invisible wizard, mumbling something about high-minded idiots with more spells than sense as he brushes himself off.
No worries, Ralph! Balik IS an idiotic old man. It's why I love him. :)
He recovers himself, still mumbling to the skull on his shoulder about the disrespect for the elderly in this day and age and barges into the house, seeing the two people standing inside. "More demons in human clothing! Pah!"
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 39
Balik stares at them with hard eyes. "They're lying! Lyin' liars what lie, they are! They're no more burglars than I am! Should I punch this one, too, WIZARD?!?" He calls in a loud voice to the air around his head, looking grumpy.
Exiel |
Remembering Ralph's earlier words, Exiel levels his hooked lance at the man in the back and takes a step forward.
"I sense something...unusual about you." <-------Hey Ralph. Hint hint.
Unless I declare otherwise, assume that after each battle Exiel sheaths the sword and retrieves his hooked lance.
Alden Helpinghand |
Alden and Naala stand firm next to their allies, waiting to see where this goes.
Aram bin Kaleel |
Aram trains his bow on the one Exiel has designated, and uses detect evil as well. If there is time he will cycle through detect chaos and detect law as well.
"As we represent the 'rightful owners' of this place, I suggest you drop your weapons and submit, or we will be forced to prevent your escape."
Ralph Cauthorn |
Balik stares at them with hard eyes. "They're lying! Lyin' liars what lie, they are! They're no more burglars than I am! Should I punch this one, too, WIZARD?!?" He calls in a loud voice to the air around his head, looking grumpy.
"Yes, let's just punch them. I've quite had it with demons thinking we're gullible enough to fall for their ruses."
Ralph moves into the room and readies an action to cast an intensified heightened fireball into the room so that it only catches the two "burgles" at the end if he sees either of them trying to cast a spell. He is still invisible.

Embla's W&A: lucerne hammer and splint mail.
Rovald W&A: darkwood quarterstaff, light crossbow and no armor.
Rovald spits on the ground. "We are no demons, nor did we have anything to do with that one outside." he says moving away from the summoned creature.
Embla draws her sword
People, i'm not gonna update your figures on the map. If you can't move it, let me know.
Exiel |
"Oh is that right? Well, you're certainly not burgles either. And definitely not crusaders for that matter. Last chance to tell us why you're really here before we assume the worst. Of course as Aram mentioned, we represent the rightful owners of this place, so if you insist that you are burgles then we'll apprehend you anyway. Personally, I'm beginning to lean towards you being Aspis agents, or perhaps flunkies of that !#&%@ Torch."
"Drop your weapons and keep your hands where I can see them or we're taking you down by force. We took down the Glabrezu in seconds without taking so much as a scratch. You two? Easy."

"Lady, you couldn't sunder this with an adamantine hammer," he chuckles. Even if you did pierce through it, the spell simply restores the armor until the duration runs out.

Everything else burns.
Alden Helpinghand |
Alden and Naala, currently ideally placed to aid their allies against these people, will spend their entire round worth of actions to boost Balik and Exiel's AC.
Using Alden's swift action for United Defense, giving Balik +2 Dodge to AC. Then using his Move action for Authoritative Command, giving all of his allies +1 to attack rolls, damage rolls, saves, and AC for 1 round. Then using his Standard action to add a +11 Dodge bonus to Exiel's AC. Naala uses her Standard action to add a +6 bonus to Balik's AC.
Then together using Bodyguard, they can add a total of +17 Dodge bonus to an adjacent ally's AC up to 4 times in the round.
Current bonus to Balik's AC: +9 Dodge bonus
Current bonus to Exiel's AC: +12 Dodge bonus
Additional bonus available to any ally: +17 Dodge bonus

I'll continue my turn after i see Alden's results. It might change things.
Exiel |
Did Exiel's attacks against that man hit?
Considering the amount of punishment we've dealt to him, I'm guessing he's either prebuffed himself significantly so that our damage is not getting through or he's quite certainly a demon of some sort.
Amsheagar |
Oh, your attacks got through.. He is hurting..

spellcraft to identify the spell cast on Alden: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31
If Aram's bolt and Exiel's two attacks all hit, that's 47 damage, and if he failed his save against my fireball, that's another 48. But he might have had some resistance and made his save. Too early to decide he's a demon.
Focus fire on him. If he survives another round, I will agree and take more drastic measures.
