I assume you guys tie up the survivors.

The door at the end of the eastern hallway opens into small shrine.

A sinister statue looms in an alcove to the east. The thing is ten feet tall with a human body, but with the head of a deformed, fanged bird and two coiling serpents for legs. The statue clutches a flail in one hand, and holds a large, open book in the other.

Religion 20:
This statue also depicts the demon lord Abraxax.

There’s exits to the north and south.

"Looks just like the thing that talked to us on the bridge, doesn't it?" Adowyn remarks. "Who was it that time, Enora?"

Barred doors sit in every wall of this small chamber through which empty cells can be seen.

Before the party can explore further, two twisted ghostly figures drift through the walls of their cells. Maddening whispers quickly fill the air.

Adowyn lets fly with two more ghost-salted arrows, though she knows she puts herself in danger of the ethereal creature touching her as she does so. Leryn whimpers in frustration, unsure how he can harm something that looks to him like a wisp of fog in the wind.

"Good news all around, eh, Enora? Let's take a look in these cells, see if there are any other folk we should be concerned about," Adowyn suggests, moving toward the barred doors that line the room. Once she's satisfied there's nothing to see in the empty chambers, she says, "Looks like we head north, past the snake-leg, bird-head thing, and see what's there."

The cells contain nothing but bones and bits of rotted cloth, likely the mortal remains of the tortured souls previously dispatched by the party.

Returning to the doors on the other side of the previous room, the party finds a short hall with three alcoves on either side. Each contains a low shelf covered with nothing but recently disturbed dust. At the end of the hall there's yet more unopened doors.

Opening them uncovers another area of unworked earth. This cavern is damp and moist. A wide pool of murky brown water fills most of the space.

Something large stirs within the pool's water.

Mrachni points silently to the pool, taking a step back. "Perhaps we should leave this place... there does not seem to be anything here."


Backing out cautiously, the party’s able to exit and get the doors closed again without waking whatever slumbered beneath the water’s surface.

Which way? From the cathedral there’s a door to the west or a door to the north.

An upraised dais in an alcove to the south holds a four-foot-diameter geode that's been cracked into two halves. The inside of the geode glitters with strange green crystals. A mound of green crystalline fragments and twisted strips of flaking green metal lies to the west.

Three vaguely canine blue monsters jump to their feet. A patch of thick tentacles sprouts from the back of their necks like a mane and they posture aggressively at the party’s entrance.

"Leryn, go!" Adowyn says, then steps into the space left by the wolf. Damn these tight quarters! she thinks as she looses a pair of arrows at the center creature.

Both of Adowyn’s arrows connect staggering the creature and allowing Leryn an opening to dart in and tear out its throat. It falls to the ground oddly silent.

The other two close in and attack the hunter’s lupine companion.

Mrachni swings his sword, trying to hit the enemy without wasting force hitting the wall, but ends up hitting neither.

My thought is that we can go back to the pool-room after we explore the rest of this level... I'm a bit of a completionist like that. What say you all?
