As you head into the next hex, and travel along the river, you come to a point where the two rivers from the upper land The Thorn and Shrike rivers merge together and form a single stream river that continues straight down to feed into the Tuskwater......

The Thorn River grows unusually wide and shallow here just before it empties into the Shrike. The result is a natural ford that never seems to become too deep.

Alexander responds to Markov idle talk as they move at the pace set out by their guide Mikmek. As I understood from Bokken he uses them for his healing potions as well as some kind of liquor. So I can only assume they offer a decent taste.
Alexander works with Markov to estimate the river's ford location as accurate as possible before committing it to the map.

Markov recalls that fangberries are an interesting berry as they form they are initially red berries with a very tart taste like black cherries, though when they ripen they are sweeter and black and taste much sweeter....One of the few berries that can be consumed and enjoyed at any stage of ripeness.....

Alexander works hard to make the map show the important details as he goes along....

Mikmek looks over his shoulder admiring his skills....

It is apparent that the overland providers also serve as scouts and those below ground also serve as miners all for the benefit of the tribe.

You find nothing else of note in this hex and can either arrive at the fangberry thicket at night or you can set camp and continue on in the morning.....

The low hills give a swath of fangberries a perfect place to grow, filling the low valley from end to end and all the way across in a dense thicket of berries. The swath is one hundred meters long and averages 10 to 20 meters across, although it varies naturally and it thins at each end of the valley……
