Damn...I missed the difficult terrain when posting. So I would be out of range to deliver the touch charge, again. I'll contemplate my options and post within a few hours. Sorry.

The really important question though is did you get your mail today? ;)

Alia of the Blade |

Following Zokons lead, Alia retrieves her own bow, empowering it with magic, then fires a blunt arrow at the creature, trying to knock it out.
Attack, nonlethal: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 4 = 19 Damage, nonlethal bludgeoning: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
I will get it today, on my way back home from work! SO is alone, without car, with 2 little ones - I'll try and get off a bit earlier today so I can fetch it. Here's hoping no problems pop up that force me to stay in office. Regardless, I will avoid Discussion until such time as I have received my package, so do feel free to spoiler there :) I'll only go back to discussion after I got my mail...important other stuff can go through PM for a day...

Illthir Winlowe |

Haha! Still freeeee!! Illthir grins and thinks as she manages to avoid the grabby tentacles.

RPGGGM |

Alia's blunt arrow connects with the rust monster's head with a thud. The bug crumples to the floor.
The tentacled thing reaches out to Durgan.

If so he fires an arrow at it

Yes.
The arrow pierces the things thick hide through the center, pinning it to to the opposite door frame.

Serena Mistcastle |

Serena will move to Illthir and channel positive energy, to affect her, Alia, and Zokon.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Illthir Winlowe |

"Is it down? Great!" Illthir slowly lowers her hammer and waits for the darkness to dissipate and or her eyes to adjust.
"That was worse then the chickens I tell you. Bleh!"

Durgan Far-Walker |

Durgan casts Stabilize on the strange grappling creature.
"Part of the inventory. Let's secure these ones before we do any more exploration."
He looks around for a cage that seems big enough for the grappling thing, and a wooden crate for the Rust Monster. Durgan looks very leery of even going near that thing.

Illthir Winlowe |

"Most of the cages seems to be in there. And broken." Illthir points at the curtain she was checking out as the vicious creature assaulted. Not very nice. And now that she wasn't actively being strangled by some odd thing she had the time to get a little annoyed. "I wonder what *else* is loose in here? I'll think I'll have some words with those men outside."
With a huff the Skald strides towards the door and drags it open juuuust enough so she can glare at Elgeen and Javers. "So. We found two rock-chickens. And a Rust Monster and strangling attack rug. Is there anything else living in the backrooms?"

Zokon Santyev |

He puts his bow away
Zokon will walk around the whole shop, looking for monsters hiding or cages to put them in.

RPGGGM |

And now that she wasn't actively being strangled by some odd thing she had the time to get a little annoyed. "I wonder what *else* is loose in here? I'll think I'll have some words with those men outside."
Thing stabilized.
There are several cages, including a big wooden one held together with wood pegs and interlocking seams rather than nails here in the back room, scatter among the wreckage on the floor. Almost none of them appear to be broken aside from a few rusted metal ones. Their latches though all seem to be open....
A couple of side notes: it is a Climb check (DC 15) to pull yourself up on to the spiral stair as the bottom 7 feet of it have been reduced to rust flakes, and the darkness effect doesn't immediately dissipate. It can still be negated by the continual light spell attached to Zokon's forehead.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Zokon finds a number of snakes, ferrets, birds of all types, the previously mentioned turtle, and an energetic monkey scattered around the back room (often in places that are not easily accessible).
Illthir heads up front.
Durgan reaches for the wooden travel cage when another cage gate creaks menacingly, and snaps shut behind him.

Zokon Santyev |

Zokon comes back and reports the cages and starts moving the captive creatures ito them... ie wooden cockatrice.

Durgan Far-Walker |

"The rust monster goes in the wooden crate, I think. As to what let them all out, there is a monkey... and maybe something else."
Durgan casts Invisibility Purge.

Zokon Santyev |

Ha ha yes... I for some reason was thinking wood for rust and wrote cockatrice... hmm

Elgeen |

"Most of the cages seems to be in there. And broken." Illthir points at the curtain she was checking out as the vicious creature assaulted. Not very nice. And now that she wasn't actively being strangled by some odd thing she had the time to get a little annoyed. "I wonder what *else* is loose in here? With a huff the Skald strides towards the door and drags it open juuuust enough so she can glare at Elgeen and Javers. "So. We found two rock-chickens. And a Rust Monster and strangling attack rug. Is there anything else living in the backrooms?"
The group at the door spins around with a startled jump. They had been facing a tall, lean, severe-looking man in dark, expensive wizard's robes.
"A rust monster you say?" says Elgeen recovering first but still looking nervous. "Well that's good. There wasn't one the last time I was here. Is it-?"
Elgeen can eventually rattle off a list of about a dozen animals that sound like the familiar section of any given Pathfinder Bestiary (bats, birds, frogs, rabbits, other small mammals, vipers, other reptiles). To that list he adds, 2 cockatrices, 1 darkmantle, and 3 shocker lizards (usually a knowledge (arcana) DC 12 to identify. If folks don't know what the latter two creatures are Elgeen can explain the basics, and give a general physical description.

RPGGGM |

For spell duration purposes, party activity takes 2 minutes of time.

Illthir Winlowe |

That gives Illthir time to armour up! Excellent!
"Uhum. 'Shocker Lizards' you say?" Illthir sighs internally and leans back inside to shout to her comrades. "Hey! There's electric lizards around somewhere too! And an 'big o' aligator-snake thing'"
Then she turns back to give the pair and sweetly says goodbye for now while closing the door. "Another minute or five then."
Once the door is closed she sinks down against it. "Being a helpful hero is a lot more stressful then I hoped. Give me a quick moment to strap on my armour and then we can find all the other circus animals!"

Illthir Winlowe |

Illthir delays closing the door a little so she can glance at the most friendly looking man. With a quick skeptic glance at Elgeen she replied to the new speaker. "I am Illthir Winlowe, skald and currently one of the plucky heroes doing heroics. That is slapping the escaped critters in cages again. Does that satisfy your curiosity mister ..?"

Illthir Winlowe |

Wow your parents really wasn't very creative were they? Illthir thinks but do not speak. Instead she goes for a gracious bow and another attempt at closing the door. While of course trying to remember if she knows of any Barons in Restov - hopefully with some rumored dirt she can snicker at.
Know Local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Durgan Far-Walker |

"Electric lizards? Okay."
Durgan casts Communal Resist Energy (Electricity) on Alia, Illthir, Zokon, Serena, and himself.
Everybody gets Resist Electricity 10 for 10 minutes.
Did his Invisibility Purge reveal anything?

RPGGGM |

Go fish. Illthir can't place him. His look, and accent aren't those of a native Rostlander (the kingdom that was southern Brevoy about a hundred and ten years ago).
Did his Invisibility Purge reveal anything?
No, everything around Durgan seems to be visible.
What's the plan? You can discuss it if you want out-of-character in the discussion thread, or in-character here.

Zokon Santyev |

"I don't know where the things are.. " He says looking around
"Elgeen, where might the shocker lizards be hiding?"

Durgan Far-Walker |

Durgan casts Fly, rather than trying to climb up the stairs.
He probably can't even reach the spiral stairs if the bottom 7 feet have been rusted away.

Zokon Santyev |

"Well i've looked back there and there's no shocker lizards in crates."

Illthir Winlowe |

Hmph. Not a local then... On one hand that meant she wouldn't get much value out of concocting some tall and hilarious tale about him. On the other hand - it also meant that the good Baron wouldn't be around to cause any repercussions!
"The critters aren't in their boxes at the moment, which is certainly the cause for this little pickle. *Why* they aren't in their boxes though is a very interesting question. It's almost like someone wanted to sabotage something... But who would care that much about the fate of this store?" The skald wonders out loud, hoping that maybe one of the three people outside the store could provide a clue - willing or not. Because intrigue was more interesting then simply bad luck!
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

Elgeen |

"Well i've looked back there and there's no shocker lizards in crates."
Elgeen considers. "Maybe they were picked up."
A third minute passes since the end of the battle with discussion at the front door. This does not impact Durgan's fly prayer/spell as I assume he casts that just before using it.

*brings finger to chin and furrows her brow*

Durgan Far-Walker |

Durgan flies up to the second floor and looks around.
Active effects: Communal Resist Energy (Electricity) (10 min), Fly (5 min left), Shield (2 min), Shield of Faith (2 min), Barkskin (47 min), Bull's Strength (2 min).
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

Zokon Santyev |

Zokon will try grab and then climb up the ladder to give Durgan some backup
Climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

RPGGGM |

Durgan flies up the partially-destroyed, spiral stair while Zokon does it the old-fashion way and pulls himself up and then climbs the remaining steps up.
They find themselves in a short hallway with two doors. The walls are decorated with with large paintings that seem more like windows looking in onto other places or people (like magical .gif files, or those portraits at Hogwart's).
The door to the southwest is closed, but the one to the northwest, while mostly closed, creeks back and forth on its hinges. Both men are instantly aware of the wild ruckus going on behind it--the sound of breaking glass, furniture scraping the ground. The air is full of ozone.

Illthir Winlowe |

No takers then... Illthir smiled at the trio outside and once more tried to close the door on them. "We'll be done in a few moments then."
---
"Hmh. Should we get some more up there? Let me try!" Illthir felt a lot better about doing heroics now that some others were already ahead of her - and after being healed a little.
Climb?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Alia of the Blade |

Having helped to secure the creatures they already knocked out, Alia get up to the second floor, as well.
Climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
"Now this will be interesting. With the staircase rotted away, I doubt electric lizards or big gators could have made their way up here-...at least without help-"
She draws her Estoc and readies to open the door Zokon indicates on his notice.

Zokon Santyev |

Zokon takes out his sap... "
Ozone smell.. goes with lightning doesn't it.. seems the shocker lizards are probably in there... let's test this magic protection Durgan put on us."
Zokon steps into the room, ready to brain any lizards nearby

RPGGGM |

The northwest door (that's open a crack, with all the noise going on behind) is the higher door on the map. Is that the one Zokon was aiming for or the completely closed door in the southwest wall?

Zokon Santyev |

I figured the door closest was the only one having not seen the other. move fixed.

RPGGGM |

After a few false, and noisy starts, Serenabot manages to haul her plate-mailed self up the stair.
Zokon opens the door on the bizarre melee beyond. Abruptly, the door swings shut upon him driving Zokon back into the hall.

"Uh...that door is animated. And made of hardened wood.", Alia explains to Zokon and Durgan.
Then she turns to address the Construct - possibly a moot point, but certainly worth a try.
"Door, we are operating under directive of Mister Elgeen to save Lady Gwendolin. Grant us access so that we may make sure your owner is safely extracted from her predicament. In other words: That makes us employees of Lady Gwendolin on a mission that requires us to pass through."
She waits a moment to see if the door reacts, suggesting trying the other door if not.
Dunno if that attempt is still free-action talk, if it takes a standard action to try I'll do that once my turn comes up, but sharing my info with the others right now seems relevant.

Zokon Santyev |

"Owwwwwwwwww. Bad door.. Bad door." he says rubbing the parts that hurt
