Erik Copper
Erik tries to control the sinking feeling at the pit of his stomach as he stands back. Finally unable to resist the temptation, he steps up to Gwen.
"I'm going to make you invisible, OK? Just in case those aren't prisoners and instead are something you might need to slip behind so as to flank."
So saying, he chants the magic words, and if Gwen's willing, she disappears from view.

Just as Gwen disappears, Basil rips the final board from the door, it crashes open and you are confronted by an enormous creature, seemingly stitched together from the corpses of other creatures. It roars in rage, and flails what looks to be a severed arm around.

No surprise round, you were all prepped and it heard you coming.
Round 1 from the top! You may as well all post your actions.

Borden takes a 5 foot step back and begins to declaim!
Arise and fight o' Kinsmen of shield and spear, of blade and bow - arise and join me in display of courage and loyalty and prove t'all by the valiance of strength of heart that thou be stout men and true!
Move action - "draw" longspear ie, taking it from leaning against the wall. Also Inspire Confidence - + 1 to hit and damage everyone
Rojerick Alandsson
Roj steps into the doorway, sword and shield already swinging, but his blade bounces off the ruined boards.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage?: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Shield Bash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage?: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Can't get the map (assuming there's one) and so I'm not sure if I can full attack or not. If I can't, the scimitar has +2 to its attack.
Erik Copper
Knowing it's a futile attempt, but with absolutely nothing left in his repertoire, Eric attempts to cast daze on the monstrosity.
DC 14 Will save if it's affected.
That done, he runs back to where the civilians are, calling over his shoulder, "I'll get the innocents out! See you guys top side!"
Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp
Not knowing whether we're supposed to use our *leveled* stats or not (my usual GM requires at least a night of rest before the character effectively levels up) I'll post using Gwen's third level stats.
Trying to make good use of Erik's spell, Gwen moves into a flanking position and savagely attacks!
Power Attack w/greatsword: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 1 + 2 = 152d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 + 3 = 13
Ah, darn. Hopefully Gwen's invisibility will make the difference.

No map, but it's stood int he doorway, so you have plenty of room to step and attack, unfortunatly your blows bounce off.
Roj's scimitar glances off the thing's hide, his shield bash almost gets it, but it manages to avoid the blow narrowly.

No just use the new stats, I'm not worried about rest time between, it just makes life more complex. You level when you level, and gain access to new spells and HP, you just don't magically heal up to full or anything silly.
Unfortunatly you can't get past it to flank, unless you make an acrobatics check....
Gwen's strike goes wide, but no one can see that.
The thing strikes back at Roj, thinking he is the only one to have attacked it so far.... It throws itself forward at him, slamming into him repeatedly.
Attak 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Attak 1 crit?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Attak 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
I'm assuming both attacks hit, so that's also a DC16 Fort save...
Erik's spell seems to have no effect. Bordan Sings out, and Basil moves back....

Round 2

On Bordens turn
Borden continues using his oratory.
He attacks with reach uses his longspear with arcane strike.
1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 1 = 18 for 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 10
Rojerick Alandsson
Lay on Hands: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
Roj once again prays, and divine energy fills him, binding some of his wounds and giving him the strength to keep fighting. He whips his scimitar at the thing, following it up with a vicious slam from his shield, which lands near the thing's head. That done,
Scimitar: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 = 19
Damage?: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
Shield Bash: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 1 = 26
Damage?: 1d3 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 8
Shield Bash Crit?: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8
I've been forgetting to apply Double Slice and Shield Bearer to my damage rolls with my bash.
EDIT: Forgot my Fort save. Fort: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp
Gwen tries to move to a more favourable position:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 but the golem is too big for her to pass, so she just attacks it again:
Power attack w/mwk greatsword: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 - 2 = 252d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 + 6 = 18
and so she becomes visible to the enemy!

Roj slams his scimitar into the beast followed by his shield, almost as Gwen goes in herself. The thing reels back from the multiple hits, but keeps coming.
It slams again into Roj, bellowing in rage.
Attak 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Attak 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 DMG: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Just a small touch of DM fait...
Erik delays a moment, unsure what to do. Bordan, still singing, shoves his spear between his friends to impale the creature. With one last scream of rage, it crashes to the ground, it's component parts splitting away from each other as the magic holding it fades. The smell is incredibly bad. The tattooed arm lies limp and gray on the floor.
End of combat.
Rojerick Alandsson
Roj gasps as the first slam catches him in the ribs and he feels something start to give. He reaches again for his divine connection to the Dawn, but seems to lack the energy for more healing. "Is...is that the last part? If it is, can we get out of here? I'm pretty much out of strength for this..."
We should have arms, legs, and head at this point. I'm still not sure where the torso is, really...
Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp
"Roj man, you were awesome! Are you hurt? I still have one cure potion, it's yours if you need it pal!"
Gwen takes a step inside the room and starts looking around.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 +2 against humans
Rojerick Alandsson
Roj nods at Basil. "Agreed." As he begins walking back through the cave, he shakes his head at Gwen. "Thank you for your offer, but there's not likely to be more fighting. The Korvosan Guard can foot the bill for this one, I think."

That was 300XP.
The gruesome tally shows that you seem to have found all of Ghaekhen's body, though detaching some parts from the half-golem's takes a bit of time and skill.
The trip back to Citadel Volshyenek is an easy, and strangely quiet one. You are greeted at the guard -house by a pacing Cressida Kroft.
"Were you successful?" she says, obviously uneasy.

"Come inside. Quickly." As you move through the essentially empty corridors to her office, Croft continues.
"I can handle the remains, Thousand Bones will not be pleased, but haveing the remains to perform their ritual is the most important thing to him. I will be able to have most of the damage recified by magic anyway. You have done a good job here, and I will want a full report on what you found later."
"Right now though, I have news you will want to hear. The queen is to hang the artist girl said to have killed the King. It is to start at sunset, so you have enough time to get over to the castle before they begin. Something doesn't feel right though, and I fear this will cause more riots."
Borden Read
I thought the girl got away - did they re-capture her? I thought she was with Blackjack. She escaped when we brought her in, then she got away from us with that vilgilante-type.
Rojerick Alandsson
Roj fixes Croft with an intense look. "We'll go, but first things first. Do you have a healer on hand? We're very low on divine favors for the day, courtesy of clearing out a necromancer's lair, and it'd be best if we had our strength back."
Don't know how wounded everyone else is, but Roj is in need of more than a CLW potion of healing.
Borden Read
I think Borden has his spells in hand if needed and Basil (esp. if he levels) should have a lot of spells on hand, incl. CLWs

"The queen is surrounded by guards, if you try to intervene you will be breaking her law, and making it look like you are putting her in danger. It wont be a good option. I need to know what is happening. I feel sure you do too."
Borden Read
Thats positively devious :)
Captain, I am definitely interested in getting a look at this execution - I'm in. If any of you need some wounds seen to I've a bit of magic left in me. I didn't use anything in chasing down the lassie or in the necromancers lair. Maybe Basil may have something in him as well.
Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp
When we're all alone and nobody else can hear us:
"Something doesn't add up here. If the girl got away... and we know she did, right... who is it that they're going to hang??? A scapegoat of sorts? A lookalike? And if that's the case... what are we going to do?"
Rojerick Alandsson
Can we just handwave the free healing?
Roj listens to Gwen's questions before stopping to think. After a minute, he looks down and frowns. "Well...we know she got away. That doesn't mean she didn't get recaptured. Look, this Blackjack person, he might have learned something about our friend that changed his mind. Or he might simply have failed to protect her from the Hellknights. If the first one is the case, I intend to go to the execution and watch it happen, not because I want to, but because, like it or not, the Queen is the legitimate inheritor to our dead king. If it seems like Miss Sabor is innocent..." Roj pauses, the furrows on his brow growing deeper. "If she's innocent, or if she's not who they claim she is...I still don't know what we can do."
I have nothing else to do before the execution.
