Audi fills everyone on what he knows. "Summoned creatures. They disappear sooner or later, right? How bad can it be? Tram, you can take them. I bet Tarvi won't hear a peep about it. Can't make as big a stir as our antics south of the walls. Nice people like Tarvi's friends don't come here. Except us of course."

Less dangerous than the play still isn't saying much. Besides, the house wouldn't make any money if the creature or creatures didn't stand a reasonable chance of defeating us.
We are in, but we want a cut - 5% off the top, plus a private conversation with your statue.
Exxor speaks up, suddenly going into business mode.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Exxor wasn't expecting such an over the top aggressive counter. Taken aback, he tries points out that there is no way to measure our fame from this event versus the play or our other appearances we have arranged, so rather than wasting both our futures in the courts, I propose you make your money while we are popular. Besides we will lose our fame soon enough, so a three event schedule is too much. Besides, you know after the rematch, everyone loses interest - especially when we win. How about we do a single title defense, at a mutually agreeable time and take we 2%? - plus the conversation. A nice simple agreement.
Exxor has Appraise; Bluff; Diplomacy; Profession-Merchant; Sense Motive - if any of those help.

Tramtris watched with some amusement at the aggresive stance suddenly taken by Exxor. He didnt know the fellow had it in him. This was going to get back to Tarvi somehow things always did.

Even money? Your champion versus a bunch of actors? Yeah some champion. surely we are five to two underdogs at the least.Indeed two of our most fearsome companions are out sick Brannock the legendary and Hippa the heinous.
He began but made a little motion for Exxor to do as he would. In truth he was trying to figure out how he was supposed to explain this to Tarvi.

Exxor |

We agree to the terms. 1 title defense, 2% cut off the top for us, and 10% of any profits we directly make from this event. And the discussion with the statue. Audi Tram myself - Brannock is indisposed, but may we include the halfling in his place? You know that will spark the betting.
Are bets paid on final odds, or time of wager odds?

Auði Jaw-Jacker |

Audi joins his companions in agreeing to the terms. "I think we'd better learn a little more about your long-standing champion. What are you willing to tell us about him? His name at least?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
Feel free to roll Audi's Diplomacy when I'm busy. He's a +18 and a +17 Bluff using Silver Tongue.

Two days from now?
He began already frowning and calculating the odds of Tarvi hearing about this in that span... he had a feeling she would know of it pretty quickly.

Exxor |

Audi is right, we should find out everything we can about the champion, and from someone other than Rance. Then we come prepared, of course, I am sure Rance will have a curve to keep things in the house's favor.

MiniGM |

Rance is pulled aside by one of his aides.
Oh fine. You are probably right.
He returns OK I was going to let you all fight, but my aides think that is asking for trouble. So instead you will have to choose your champion to enter the arena to face Thax.
Usually there are two wizards in protected cages and they duel by summoning creatures and having them fight. The rules do allow for a summoned creature to face off against a single champion in rare occasions, Rances attempt to send you all in, would likely have resulted in a riot.

![]() |

Let me get this straight, Some one would have to go in, fight the summoned creatures to win. The other fellow wouldnt be directly involved in the battle or is it expected for the person to best the monsters and the wizard?
He asked for clarification, managing to not sigh too loudly at the thought of upsetting Tarvi... again.

Exxor |

And there is the curve.... what types of creatures could be summoned? Do we know what their summoner has brought forth in the past? Our champion will have to be ready for any of it, which means we need answers and supplies quick.

Exxor |

Agreed - Prot from Evil would be awesome; but Exxor wouldn't know that, so I didn't want him to bring it up in character. Audi might know, or Hippa if Mini allows it. I would also be prepared for a swarm. I know that seems minor, but a swarm could really tear up an unprepared PC.
I think learning what types of things the mad mage casts is our best bet at devising a strategy! Also, preparing Tram with gear.

Auði Jaw-Jacker |

Audi shares everything he knows about Thax and the fact that the odds should tilt heavily in Thax's favor. Once Tram has reluctantly agreed to the battle, Audi helps to research everything we can find about Lemures.

"I'll pitch in for a silver weapon. He should probably be sure to keep moving too. He's quicker than they are and should be able to dodge around them. It will keep them from clawing him as many times. We could also get him a potion of false life to help him stand against them longer."

Exxor |

I would be happy to contribute to a silver weapon fund, and I have a potion of shield that Tram is welcome to use... either in the fight or when he faces Miss Tarvi.
There are a lot of helpful potions, Aid, Bless, Prot Evil, Shield, Bulls Strength, Cat's Grace. Tram will probably have limited time to drink these, so pick a couple. We (Tram) should also be prepared for some twist - lets not put all our eggs in the Lemure basket and leave him vulnerable to something else.
Should we trust Rance's guy? I am sure whatever we buy from him will get back to Rance... depending on the betting, knowing what our champion is prepared for would be very valuable information to a certain wizard and or the "House".

I have about 200 gold or so to spend as well, I still hope this works out for the best, I have a bad feeling that something isnt on the up and up. Just a hunch.
He added to the group much quieter than normal.
If we are getting something silvered lets get something with some heft to it, like a nice heavy flail or something.
He added lost in thought mostly.

Exxor |

Exxor actually has over 1000 gp... he really hadn't spent anything notable after the Knot loot was divided.
Would it be possible to get an alchemical silver heavy flail and several vials of Silversheen... Keeping in mind Silversheen/Alchimical Silver weapons are -1 damage.
Also - I still say we should b prepared for Thrax to throw some curve at the group; like a devil that would require cold iron, or a swarm...or, or, or...
