Game Master Degwyn

This is simply an interim location where Zirt, Dovak and Cyniq can catch up to the beginning of the Magnimar campaign again.

Waking from Dovak's alarm, Cyniq stiffles a yawn before rolling out of the hammock. What's going on? Watching in alarm as he don's his armor, she decides to don hers, casting mage armor.

"Sounds like pirates. Or maybe some kind of sea creature? Anyway, something's on the ship that shouldn't be." Dovak says. Some of the words are muffled as he pulls on various armor pieces, but the gist comes through. "Do you have any armor Zirt?"

"Yes but there's no time!" calls the gnome as she runs out of the room. Studded leather isn't really worth the 1 minute to don hastily for a few points of AC.

Yeah, but Dovak doesn't think that way. And doesn't want the CLEARLY inexperienced Zirt to get stabbed. =p

Map of the ship

On the deck above you hear chaotic sounds of running and shouting.

Zirt's moving 40' toward the stairs up, not waiting to put on armor... just grabbing her pouch and weapons.

Grabbing her own bag, she slings it over her shoulder and heads up after the others.

Moments after finishing donning his armor, Dovak takes off in the same direction Zirt ran. With his longsword in hand, his disheveled look has become one of battle--a man who has just fought and survived against great odds. Though wary of enemies, Dovak rushes to find what has come of the bard on the upper decks. "You casters watch out, we don't know what exactly is coming." he calls to Cyniq and the elven woman.

Cyniq is staying behind the hunky sword carrying guy.

Cyniq peaks over Dovak's shoulder hellooo?

"I'm listening for any sign of what's happening out there; maybe Zirt is sneaking up to see." Dovak whispers back over his shoulder.

THE MAP

Zirt makes a break for the stairs leading up to the main deck and sees the captain, cutlass drawn, running from the direction of his quarters. "Stand down! What is the meaning of this!? I say stand do...!" A look of surprise crosses his face as he seems to lose his footing and falls to the deck with a loud bang.

Before you (Zirt) make it to the top of the stairs, he's pulled himself up to his feet once again and brushed the hair from his eyes. You see his back and left leg are soaked with blood. "By the gods! Feed that son of a hound to the fish!" He yells continuing in the direction of the chaos.

Scanning the deck you see a glistening crimson short humanoid shape near the open door of the crew quarters. One of the sailors is on deck yelling and wildly swinging at it with his dagger and another member of the crew has just made it to the door.

Lady Alvaerele's angelic guardian construct is on deck and the other elven woman is in the doorway to their quarters. Her longsword is drawn and she's looking around the deck. She sees Zirt come to the deck and her voice, quite clear to your ears says "Use caution, friend."

Dovak and Cyniq, you see Zirt as she clears the top of the stairs. The commotion seems to be coming from near the front of the main deck near the crew quarters.

Zirt squeaks in surprise at the presence of the strange creature, and then at the warning. She quickly nods an acknowledgment at the woman, then points at the crimson thing and speaks in a slightly-sleepy but strong voice, evoking a flash of light in front of the nasty creature's eyes.

Casting flare; DC 14 Fortitude save or it's dazzled for 1 minute. Unless of course it can't see.

Male Aasimar Paladin (Sacred Servant) 1 > HP 13/13, 12/13 NL; AC 16 (T11/F15); F:+4,R:+1,W:+0; Init+1; Perc-2)<

Dovak rounds the corner and takes a look at the scene. He draws his lucerne hammer, and peers at the creature attacking things on deck.
Move action to 15 feet from the creature, drawing weapon as he moves; then activate paladin Detect Evil toward it.

Cyniq had to wait for Dovak, and followed him up the stairs to see what all the fuss was about.

She'll stop once she clears the hatch, leaving room for the next person to get clear as well.

The elven woman stays in the doorway to Lady Alvaerele's quarters.

crimson thing attack rolls:

attack: 1d20 ⇒ 20 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
attack: 1d20 ⇒ 16 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
wow... why did that never happen when I was rolling as a player?

The crimson thing slashes down at the sailor facing it and digs its clawed hand into his chest. The sailor's eyes go wide with panic and his mouth opens as if to scream but nothing comes out as his body goes limp.

Ran out of time at work, more to come after the little ones are sleep in a few hours ...

fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Zirt's flare bursts in front of the crimson thing and it stumbles backward still clutching the sailor.

angelic guardian rolls:

att 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 dam 1: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
att 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 dam 2: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

The angelic guardian rushes over and swings wide with a fist as the thing is reeling from Zirt's spell. His second punch connects solidly and a portion of the things body erupts in a bloody mess.

Cyniq, you can see what's happening and have the opportunity to move past Dovak at the end of this round if you wish.

Dovak you draw your sword and get the feeling this thing is evil.

sailor attack roll:

att: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 2 = 21 dam: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1) + 3 = 7

One of the sailors emerges from their quarters and cuts deeply into the thing with his cutlass.

Male Aasimar Paladin (Sacred Servant) 1 > HP 13/13, 12/13 NL; AC 16 (T11/F15); F:+4,R:+1,W:+0; Init+1; Perc-2)<

"Foul creature! You will not be permitted to do anything more!" Dovak calls. He steps forward and brings his hammer down toward the creature's head.
Declare smite on it. 5-foot step forward, attack (with reach)
Lucerne Hammer, Smite: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 4 = 9; Dmg if hits, Smite: 1d12 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10 Damage is +1 more (i.e. +2) from smite if it is an evil outsider or undead (double Paladin level damage on first _hit_ only).
